You should NEVER have let them talk you into buying 2 GB of RAM. I'm not sure why you thought that would even remotely fix your issue. I'm running an old G4 Mac with 1GB of RAM and OS X. It doesn't shut down.

A two second Google search would have showed you that MagicJack has very mixed reviews. Some people like it, others have had issues with it. It's not the government's job to make you do your homework. Read your Constitution.
