This complaint is about the Okeechobee Jeep dealership. The complaint is directed towards the Plattner Automotive Group Headquarters.
In late September 2026, I had to bring my 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sahara JL with 54,140 miles in for repairs because the right rear and third brake light were not working properly. The 3rd brake light was not lighting up and the right brake light running light was not working (all LEDs were working, possibly a controller issue). I demonstrated to the service rep that the right brake light LEDs all lit up, but the running light did not stay lit. The left brake light worked as intended.
That evening, the service rep called to inform me that the 3rd brake light wire had been damaged on install. I told the rep to ignore that, I would do the repair myself. The service rep also stated that the mechanic replaced my right rear brake light and confirmed that there’s nothing wrong with my original brake light because their light also did not work properly. They did a continuity test and confirmed that all the wiring was correct and that the issue was a bad body controller module. They then wanted to charge me $2600 with the labor and they included the new brake light replacement in that fee. I was a bit confused and asked them why I should replace a perfectly good working brake light which they themselves said works just fine. I had them remove that brake light and put mine back on. They told me that the module would not arrive till Tuesday.
The new estimate was $1600 ($1741 with the 3% CC fee), The following Thursday, I called the dealership. My service rep had gone on vacation and my jeep status was unknown. A couple hours later they called and told me that the vehicle was ready for pickup. I was not able to pick up the vehicle till the following Tuesday.
Not only did they not fix the right brake light but it doesn’t even flash anymore. The spare tire cover was practically hanging off the vehicle. My third brake light was also missing multiple screws, holding the light to the vehicle. The 3rd brake light wire was just dangling down the back of the jeep, no longer inside its tube channeling.
Upon opening the back of the jeep, the right side of the vehicle interior had been disassembled and not reassembled. There was a broken cover for the wiring access point. The tailgate does not close all the way, a section of plastic finish is stopping it, they reinstalled the finish over the door weather stripping. I notified the service manager and he told me that I would have to wait for another day for the repair to be completed. I took the vehicle home with me that day because the dealership was closing and did not offer loaner vehicles.
At home, I removed the spare tire and found that of the 7 screws holding the 3rd brake light together, 4 of them were missing. Of the 8 bolts holding the tire carrier to the vehicle, 5 were missing.
The mechanic had also disconnected my winch, leaving the negative wire rubbing against the alternator belt.
I informed the service manager Jim of this issue over the phone and in person. Jim says that as far as he is concerned, the vehicle has been serviced and nothing else needs to be done to it. He accused me of dropping off the vehicle with all the screws and bolts missing. I have asked for the labor and parts documentation four times, twice on two seperate phone calls and twice on two seperate visits to the dealership, and the service manager has just made excuses to not give me the paperwork.
I asked to speak to the store manager and Jim, the service manager said that I did not need to speak to the store manager, he also told the workers not to give me the contact information for the store manager. I had to get the store managers contact information over the dealerships recorded phone line.
Another manager, Curtis, said on a Thursday, that he would check with the foreman to determine if the work was actually completed on the vehicle, he told me that he would contact me on Monday. I called and left of voice mail on Tuesday and then tried again on Thursday. The service manager placed me on a 29 minutes phone call. I never did get ahold of Curtis.
The mechanic told me that not only is my jeep shody but that all jeeps are shody.
I have filed a consumer complaint against the dealership, I have spoken with the general manager but do not have high expectation with him, he does not seem interested.
I would love to hear from the Plattner group automotive headquarters on this issue.
