Patreon

I recently got an invitation to write a review about Patreon, and honestly, I was hesitant at first. I have heard some negative things about the platform, but I decided to give it a shot anyway.

After navigating through their website, I was impressed with the user-friendly interface. It was easy to set up my account and start exploring all of the features. I appreciated how they have different tiers of membership, depending on the kind of content you want to access.

Initially, I was interested in Patreon because I am a big fan of some creators who exclusively use the platform to share their content. I love the idea of small creators being able to get paid for their work directly from their fans. It's empowering and promotes creativity.

That being said, I did come across a couple of issues. First of all, the payment system seems a bit convoluted. I was confused about the different fees and I had trouble understanding what percentage of my payment was going toward supporting my favorite creators versus going toward Patreon itself.

The other issue was that I found it hard to discover new creators to support. I had to resort to using Google to find artists and creators that I wanted to follow, which seemed a little counter-intuitive.

Overall, though, I think Patreon has a lot of potential. It's a great way for creators to get paid for their work, and it allows fans to directly support the people they admire. I just wish the platform was a little more streamlined and user-friendly.

In conclusion, I wouldn't say that Patreon is a scam, but I do think there are some areas where the platform could improve. If you're a fan of a creator who uses Patreon, I definitely recommend giving it a try. Just be prepared to navigate some confusing payment systems and do a little extra research to find new creators to support.
