My website, that I pay way more than with other providers, has been unresponsive for weeks (when I make a change on a webpage, it may or may not show up, and when it does, it could take DAYS and not hours). I asked for help, and got a canned response (probably an AI). I followed their instructions (maybe it was a cache issue on my computer?) — in fact, I know enough to clear the cache BEFORE contacting ONE.com. BUT, I had the same problem on MULTIPLE devices, including one that has NEVER visited this site! It is NOT a "browser cache" issue, like they are insisting.
THEN, I was advised to change a core file (. htaccess), but with limited instructions. I made that change and the WHOLE SITE was inaccessible. I was asked for a username/password but I didn't have it (my normal login name/password didn't work). NO HELP FROM ONE.com. Even though I restored the. htaccess file to its original, the damage was done. ONE.com support is 'mystified' — do they even know what they are doing? Probably not since it appears to be an AI. NO actual support from a real person. When I tried to call (overseas long distance), that number was OUT OF SERVICE!
I can no longer access. htaccess in ANY folder (I only changed ONE of them), requiring a username/password. For clarity, this is the same regardless of the device I use.
