I signed up for NY Times Cooking, it was $49.99 a year. The second year, July 22, 2025 I was charged $249.99! They decided that I wanted all of they NY Times and I did not have a choice. I cancelled the subscription immediately. I had a credit for the charge but in October they sneakily charged my card again for $249.99 and they refused to credit me for this charge. I notified them that they were no longer authorized to charge my credit. My credit card company sent a new card. This year they did it again! I have been on hold with them forever today as well as my credit card company. The first customer service person told me there was nothing they could do about it since it was charged by a third party. She would not provide a method to contact the third party and claimed there was nothing I could do about this. NY Times has third parties selling and collecting money on their behalf but they claim they have no way of contacting the third party, in this case happens to be Google Pay.
Recommendation: DO NOT PROVIDE ANY CREDIT CARD INFO EVER!
