Networx Systems – Pool deck refinishing

In June of 2024, I hired a contractor recommended by NetWorx to refinish my pool deck.( Jerry Duffy from I FIX MASONRY). He gave me 2 options: apply a new coating of cement for $6500 or paint it for $3500. He said the cement would be the better option since it would hold up better. Agreed to cement and he said he would start work on Monday. He was a no show and never answered my calls or texts. Showed up the next day with a lame excuse. Applied the cement. Looked great…til the next morning. It didn’t adhere and looked terrible. He said he would fix it so he scraped it all off (half of which went into the pool!) Then he said he found a paint that wouldn’t chip and proceeded to paint the deck ( and got paint all over the pool, fence , furniture and edging. ). Tried to be patient since he seemed like a nice young man. The deck looked great with the paint and I gave him a positive review … BUT it started to chip and discolor within the next few months. Realized he just painted over the one crack and never patched it.Called him and he said he would fix it in the spring since the pool was going to be closed. When they closed the pool I found out that he had buried the pool anchors which I had to pay to have reinstalled. Fast forward to spring. Set up 3 dates for him to come look at the deck and he never showed up. Called and he said he was busy with other clients and would get back to me. At that point I said do not bother ! The deck looked disgusting. More of the paint came off when I cleaned it. The paint was not applied smoothly. Lots grooves and they collected dirt. When scraping off the cement he left uneven surfaces that collected water. I finally called another contractor who confirmed that I got screwed. He said the workmanship was shoddy. I am now having my deck done again for $13500 Half the cost is to remove the paint and even out the divots in the cement. I told Mr. Duffy that he owes me a refund but all he sent was $200 for the pool anchors. It seems that your company did not vet him. He definitely did not know how to do this project. Somebody owes me a refund!
