Using my nighthawk app I was informed that the router had a firmware update. I clicked update and the new firmware updated and indicated it was successful. However, my router failed to reconnect and my power on white light just kept flashing. I contacted technical support and they tried to get my router reset to no avail. They finally said that the firmware was corrupt and my router could not be fixed. The representative informed me since it was a firmware issue it qualified me for a free replacement. The gave me (3) options for a return and I chose next day and paid $29.90 shipping. I received an email stating that I needed to send them a picture of the back of my router with serial number and mac id as well as proof of purchase. I sent them the information I had (serial# and mac id) but I did not still have the sales receipt. I was told that I should contact the retail store where I purchased it to obtain a proof of purchase. I contacted the retailer but we were unable to find my sales receipt. I notified Netgear and they refused to honor my replacement even though their firmware update caused my problem. Their customer support supervisor was rude and dismissive.
Desired outcome: Replacement of my router and a refund of my shipping fee that I paid
