I am writing to convey my concerns with the services rendered by one of your Mr. Tire Auto Centers. I have a 2017 Chevy Suburban LS 1500 with a V8 5.3L Flex engine, in which I relied on Mr. Tires for maintenance services on my last five vehicles for over twenty years. The resolution I am interested in is for Mr. Tire corporate office to provide new materials that were previously paid for but not appropriately or fairly installed and/or a refund for the following payments service:
- On January 12, 2024, I was towed to Auto Center #773, to request services on my coolant pressure and to inform the service rep that coolant was leaking, the temperature gauge was not working, and the truck was overheating. After the courtesy inspection was performed, it was determined by Technician A. Douglas (077620-0.00) that I needed the coolant reservoir bottle replaced and the coolant sensor. I paid $1,097.25 to replace my coolant reservoir bottle, coolant temperature sensor and the coolant fluid exchange. Please note: This was a winter month that got warm all of a sudden. The A/C was not used again until April.
- On April 4, 2024, after calling for three weeks to schedule an appointment to have my A/C serviced, I went into Auto Center #773 to inform them the A/C was not blowing cold and the heat was not blowing either, and to get an oil change. After completing the oil change, Technician M. Pickett (028580) determined that the truck needed a thermostat replacement and I was charged again for the coolant fluid exchange. Other services charged were for a wheel alignment and two stabilizer links. I paid a total of $1,159.48, in which $590.24 went to the cost of Anti-freeze, coolant exchange and the thermostat.
- On April 14, 2024, I went into Auto Center #773, to inform them the A/C was still not blowing cold, even after replacing a thermostat, a sensor, and a reservoir bottle. After another courtesy inspection, I was told by Manager Alexander Freter, I would need the condenser replaced. In addition, I was charged for coolant exchange and A/C dye, bringing the amount total to $1241.14. Mr. Freter suggested that the condition for ordering the condenser was for me to provided $100 deposit, in which I did.
- I returned on April 19, 2024, to have the condenser replaced; install by Technician M. Pickett [protected].00). In addition to paying for the condenser, I was charged again for 20lbs of Anti-freeze (R1234YF), full A/C service and A/C dye, totaling $1213.45.
- On October 11, 2024, I went into Auto Center #773 for an oil change, which the service for the courtesy inspection included topping of the fluids, free battery check and complimentary tire rotation. According to Technician C. Dennis [protected].00), the battery could not be recharge and needed to be replaced. Costing me another $640.67.
This is the second year in a row Auto Center #773 has prolonged my A/C courtesy inspection due to unavailable equipment needed for the services. With all the expensive parts replaced and multiple services performed on the A/C in my truck. I should not be experiencing additional issues from one year to the next. Above is a history of the services and parts paid for in full last year and below is a description of the extended wait times for Mr. Tire # 773, to address a continuation of A/C issues with in truck.
- Called on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 to schedule an appointment for Friday, March 21, 2025 to have my A/C serviced.
- Arrived to the appointment on March 21, 2025 at 0900, my scheduled time, and was told by Manager Alexander Freter that my truck uses the new type of coolant (R1234YF) and the machine that they need for that service was loaned to another service center.
o Problem: No consideration for my time or travel distance of 13.7 miles, to have my scheduled appointment postponed until further notice. Alex stated, he would call me by Sunday, March 23, 2025 if the center returned the equipment needed for my service.
Mr. Freter did not call me prior to my arrival, to reschedule. Inconsiderate.
Mr. Freter did not provide me the option to go to another location for the A/C service. Discourteous.
- On March 31, 2025, I still have not heard back from Mr. Tires to reschedule my appoint, which caused me to follow-up on the status of the equipment. I was told by Mr. Freter that the equipment was returned with broken parts that needed to be replaced and that my name was on the list to be called back once the equipment was fixed.
- On April 14, 2025, I called Mr. Tire for a status update, which I was told that they put in a parts request with the Area Manager and was awaiting his/her response.
- On April 22, 2025, I called again for another status update to see if someone could schedule me with another Mr. Tire that has the equipment needed to service my vehicle. I was told by Alex that there were no other Mr. Tires in the surrounding area, from Eldersburg, Woodlawn, Pikesville, Randallstown, Gwynn Oak to Laurel, MD. He said, “That is why they borrow theirs.”
o Later that day, a mechanic, who I employed to replace the motor mounts in my vehicle, discovered the A/C parts that were supposedly replaced by Mr. Tires a year ago, where not new. The coolant reservoir bottle was less than a quarter full and had the appearance of coolant residue leaking down the sides and there was a hole in the A/C return hose and the compressor looked corroded.
Mr. Tires Auto Center #773 must be held accountable for the deceptive performance in service, including remedies or penalties for not meeting agreed upon service levels. In all fairness, I would like to be compensated for $4242.08, the costs of replacing parts for the A/C that has not worked consistently for more than one season and for the deception of services not fully completed, or providing adequate inspection and service for A/C with anymore part replacement included, free of charge.
Claimed loss: After replacing the A/C temperature sensor, coolant reservoir bottle, condenser/compressor, and loads of ant-freeze and coolant fluid exchanges, one year later and there is still an issue with the A/C blowing hot air. and leaking.
Desired outcome: Refund me $4242.08 for the costs of replacing parts for the A/C that has not worked consistently for more than one season and for the deception of services not fully completed.
