MovoCash Movocash opens fraudulent accounts

Someone filed a fraudulent 2019 tax return in my name. They switched my bank on file with the IRS to an unknown bank, Metropolitan Commercial Bank in New York which was linked to a fraudulent Movocash card. The IRS sent $1200 to MCB and then the $1200 was sent to Movocash. Neither MCB have reported these fraudulent accounts to the IRS nor sent the money back. I did not authorize either of these accounts. The accounts were opened using counterfeit, forged or otherwise fraudulent documents. Neither financial institution has reached out to me for authentic documents to compare to the fraudulent documents used to open the accounts. It has been three years and the issue is not resolved. Movocash and MCB are high risk institutions, for customers and no customers alike. Movocash and MCB are no longer affiliated. Movocash recently had its business relationship terminated with Orchard Bank. Now it appears that Movocash does not have a link with any FDIC bank. Movocash needs to be investigated.

MovoCash Less than 3 months later, and MOVO is having problems with blocked accounts

Less than 3 months later, and MOVO is having problems with blocked accounts. But they didn't have any problem taking my deposit when they knew that my account couldn't be used. Now I have to withdraw my money out because it can't be used. They keep saying they have no idea when it will be fixed like they don't have a card in the world. They sent a very ambiguous text which didn't state exactly what was blocked. Thank God I didn't have any direct deposits to worry about. They have really screwed people over and don't seem to care.

I have had nothing but problems with this account. Like when someone breached their system and made my account not active and they returned my stimulus to irs and I had to wait 7 weeks to get it. Now I forgot my user id and the customer service can't give it to me and there is no way to retrieve it online? Come on, this is a basic function, not to have it is ridiculous.

I received an Unsolicited MOVO card in the mail. I called them and they said they put a Block on the account. I asked for proof of the cancelation with no luck. The young lady I spoke with obviously was not the one to deal with Fraud when it is reported. I would like to speak to someone who is trained in dealing with Fraud or Identity theft.

I have had an account with MOVO for a few years now and LOVE it.! MOVO is my primary spending account and I only have other bank accounts because I am conditioned to diversify. But if I had to make a choice between them all, I would choose Movo hands down!

I have had such an incredible experience with this company. They seem to always know exactly what products I need! Cash Cards are my favorite feature and I could not imagine not using a cash card again.

movo closed my account "due to fraud" ,it took me many phone calls/emails, and months to get my money back into my account. then they wanted me to verify identity on the phone, send pix of id and selfy and online using a form to send in. i did over and over, but it was never accepted. i could not log in to my account. i kept emailing them and submitting a ticket for review.. im still in process of getting my money. this is a horrible company. i would reccommend using ANY other prepaid/digital card you could find. very negative experiance! do not use MOVO. ever

This outfit is a fraud ! I share the experiences expressed by virtually everyone here . So I tried to transfer my balance back to my bank and ..."That action is not permitted". I am going to report them to the Texas Attorney General's office.

It's a small company with its limitations (customer service isn't efficient) but this being said - it's been an awesome service for my wife and I. We are enrolled in direct deposit and I have had to transfer money to my bank account and it was seamless. I haven't had any of the issues experienced here. I even had actual fraud committed using my card (number stolen at a gas station) and movo refunded everything.

Movo asked me to submit a selfie and ID to verify my account. I submitted all the information but I didn't get any response.They just stole my money and personal information.

STAY AWAY from this company and it's bank, Metropolitan Bank of New York. My account has been frozen now for a sixth day, apparently along with 17,000 card holders. MOVO says vaguely it was due to the fraudulent opening of accounts on its platform. (There was no sign of fraud in my account) And this is not the first time this has happened. This is not merely an inconvenience for a lot of low-income MOVO cardholders, who use this card exclusively for daily bills and expenses, like me. Customer service people are awful, with different information from one to the next. Run away from MOVO!

Okay, at this point I've exhausted my patience with the whole MOVO company/bank. It's been three weeks since a hold was placed on my account and I've been unable to access my own money. This is a result of a financial security mistake by their company, they should be the ones fixing it. They're not however, doing anything. Throughout the whole month of July I've been forced to spend my time and energy trying to get to the bottom of the problem. It has been four days since I went on the verification portal and verified my identity that's supposed to open my account back up. Additionally, this morning I sent photos of my license after further requests to prove my identity.

I've spoken to multiple MOVO (Metropolitan Commercial Bank) customer service agents over the phone asking for assistance or at least an update on why the situation is still unresolved and all they tell me is it's not their department and they'll "forward my case to the relevant department for review". They can't transfer me to someone in the department who can give me a straight answer...

I'm reporting them everywhere I can and reaching out to my local government agency to find out what legal action I can take to retrieve my money that's being held.

The people at MOVO are crooks. They have been holding my $500+ for months! They pretend to be "working on it" but everything they do is a ruse, including a "verification portal" that does not work. These guys belong in jail! - *** G.

MovoCash Movo use to be my favorite bank

Movo use to be my favorite bank. A month ago I would have given a 5 star rating. I have to give it a 0 for the last month with a 3 overall. I can't use my card online I have been declined on amazon, newegg and home depot. The payments go though initially but once the merchant prompts movo to collect the funds something triggers a decline. It feels like a billing address mismatch but my details are correct. . Movo perhaps set the fraud software to treat every purchase over a certain amount a high risk transaction . I'm sure MOVO can turn that feature off but they will pay for it because of chargebacks.

Same as the others. I have had an account for more than a year and had no issues until last month. I was able to go to an ATM and get most of the cash out, but I also opened an account for my husband a few months ago and was told that they would not send a physical card until there was money deposited, so I started depositing money and that was exactly the time that everyone lost access "blocked due to fraud." So he doesn't have access to his money at all. DO NOT OPEN A MOVO ACCOUNT.

I'm having the same issues as everyone else. The card stopped working. I called to cancel it and was told I should spend my balance. Funny, I can't, which is why I'm cancelling. I asked to be sent a check for my balance, but honestly I don't trust them enough to even do that.

My paycheck is directly deposited to my Movo card, or so I thought. Due to this ongoing issue of fraudulent accounts, all transactions are being denied. No deposits, no debits. Customer service was useless in resolving how I am supposed to get my paycheck & pay bills, buy food, gas etc. They keep telling me the issue will be resolved soon. Been a month now.

Like everyone else here, this company was fine until about July 20. Then everything was declined__on-line bill-paying, over the phone transactions, gas stations, groceries. Plenty of cash in the account.Customer service every day, they were useless. Supervisors no better. Same blather every time--problem with the Visa network, no time frame for a resolution. Card works now only with a physical swipe, direct deposits get bounced back to the sender. Thankfully, I am able to withdraw cash at an ATM. Fees to withdraw, more fees to load it onto a different card. Can't wait to empty this account and close it. NO STARS.

Movo locked my card and I have been unable to make any transactions via the physical card or via the app since 8/6. The email received from Movo stated there has been fraudulent activity with respect to opening accounts at Movo. My account is been active for about a year and my information is the same. Several calls to and conversations with to Movo have been unsuccessful in getting access to the funds remaining on the account. The App is blocking all transactions to move money out of the account. I would like the full balance of the funds remaining on the account refunded/transferred back to my bank without a fee and the account closed immediately.

We have used movo for over a year and loved them until mid July. My card declined in a grocery store with more than enough cash and was then blocked for fraudlent deposits. (My unemployment) customer service was of no help. I called metropolitan commercial bank and they actually got someone from movo to call me. He was able to unblock card but it still declined.he was helpful but not able to totally give us confidence that our funds are available when and how we need them. Sent my husband and I new cards. They work for in person pin purchases but will not load check deposits or function online. Seems like it's time to move on to a different company as our automatic payments we have scheduled are going to decline. What a pain!

Several times I tried to enter my PIN code (my date of birth), but the inscription "transaction not permited to the cardholder" appeared. . When I clicked on the "send me an email" button, the inscription "error" appeared.
Thereafter, I found information on the Internet, if someone sends money to my card, then it must be activated after that. I asked my friend to send me some money for activation. He sent, but my balance hasn't changed. I received a message in the email that informed me that in order to use this money, I need to download your application and create a new card there... I already have card.
What should I do...?

MovoCash On 7/24 my card was declined twice in store

On 7/24 my card was declined twice in store. I was able to obtain cash through an atm for my purchase however, when I called CS they referenced an ongoing issue with Visa. A couple of days later my card was declined when I attempted to make an online purchase. Fast forwarded a few days and I no longer have access to my funds. My card was blocked for "fraudulent activity". I called CS and they gave me very few answers. The rep advised a portal for identification verification was in the works but provided no further details. I was given no answers as to when my funds would be available. I have bills to pay that have been declined because of this issue. My direct deposit also did not go through because of the blocked cards. We need access to our funds immediately.

Hello, I read a review on *** wallet which recommended this card because of low maintenance fees. I was able to create an account, but not able to use it. I was not able to activate the card or add funds. I attempted to contact Movo Cash but was only able to hold for 2hours before I had to disconnect the call. Needless to say their customer service is ridiculously horrid. If its this hard to even activate this card, what would happen if I had any monetary issues. Upon further research it appears my experience is not unique. I wanted the card for convenience and security but based on many of the consumer reviews as well as my own experience this card does not offer either. I fully intend to cancel this card and would never recommend it to anyone. Absolutely the worst debit card experience ever!

This is the most ridiculous bu fb of bull I've ever heard a technical problem that they wont say what it is or when they will fix it , it's bull I'm assistant to the ambassador of the USA to the Philippines I've had the CEO personally message me on two occasions my pay goes to movo and I'm expected to send money to my wife's movo for our kids food I was supposed to bring them all here but covid19 blah blah u know the story, at this point my kids are out of food in the house my electric bill has went unpaid. I e taken this up with my boss and an attorney if I don't get access to my money tgat I earned by the end of the business day today I will sue this company for everything its worth they wont e en give there customer service an answer two weeks now two flipping weeks I e waited for this problem to work itself out, and they lie on this weekend I have an inside source nobody was working the technical problem, and where is Tom *** me CEO

MovoCash No problems with this company until the last month

No problems with this company until the last month. My card was being randomly declined at a number of businesses across my city. I called and they told me they were having trouble with some VISA vendors but they were working on the issue. 2 weeks later I was having problems with it again. Now yesterday my direct deposit paycheck was not accepted. I called today and they told me they were having issues but working on it and it was otherwise out of their control. They told me the funds had been returned to my employer and would be available in 3-5 business days. This is BS! I have bills to pay and auto drafts that will be declined without funds from my paycheck. Now I have to wait through the weekend for a remedy from my employer. I cannot recommend this company. Oh and they also sent out a letter recently saying they had a bunch of fraudulent accounts that had been opened. When you call them they ask you for a LOT of personal information to verify your identity. Not comfortable with that at all. Done with the company!

MovoCash We have had an issue now that has led us to stop using this card/company

We have had an issue now that has led us to stop using this card/company. We have a solid balance with them, and use the card for our primary online payment method. It had historically been good, but starting sometime between 7/18 and 7/22 something happened and any attempt to purchase or make a payment has been declined. We did call customer service (almost no wait time, which was nice) on 7/22 and were told that there was a systemic problem that affected most of their North American customers and were told that it would sort itself out. We have now had three online payment attempts fail (two on-demand and one recurring one) with more of our recurring payments coming soon. The issue is still ongoing (tested this morning), so we have no choice but to move to a different card for our primary online use. Historically, this card and service worked well. However, I have to be able to rely on any company that I trust with my money (no matter how small the amount), and this company has now lost our trust. We will be attempting to get our balance back or transferred to another company. It's not a huge amount, but it's not insignificant, either. I truly hope that us getting our funds returned will not be an issue.

I have had an account for a little under a year and over the last couple months, I suddenly couldn't use my card at some places. This was an annoyance, but nothing too bad. Now today I didn't receive my direct deposit. I sent up a ticket and received an E-mail back saying it wasn't during their business hours (which it was). I sent another ticket and this time received message saying I'd hear back as soon as someone had a chance to look it. Hours later, nothing. So I called customer service, was immediately hung up on, called back and was told that no transactions were being accepted right now due to issues on their end and there was no eta on when it would be fixed. Now I cannot receive my pay and will have to wait on a paper check to be mailed to me which can take 2-3 weeks. This has put me in a really bad place and I don't know how I'm going to survive the next two weeks. They gave no warning of this what so ever, there was just a letter from the apparent owner stating there were problems and some transactions wouldn't work but they were fixing the issue. I assumed this was why it hadn't been working at some stores, but I was still getting my deposits and was able to use it some places, so I didn't worry too much. Turns out that wasn't the case. I feel like they didn't properly express what was going to happen and have left me and probably others in a situation without any access to our money we've worked hard for. It's a shame. I really thought this was good company who treated it's customers fairly but I was incredibly wrong. If I had gotten an accurate explanation I could have switched my direct deposit to a different account. Instead, now I'm screwed and won't be able to pay my bills.

So fantasically difficult to set up an account that I finally searched for reviews to see if it was just me, but no. So glad I did some research before being sucked into this terrible company. What happened: first try - really difficult to type information into tiny restrictive screen. I have a slight hand tremor so I kept making mistakes and by the time I got my verification code my session had expired and the whole thing was stuck in limbo. I tried to open my account on my laptop where it is easier for me, but app is for phone only. Got the customer service # and called. They said it was probably an incorrect address, which was nonsense. Contacted them again, and got an email with a new download and was told to start over, and that the reason for my problem was that I only had five minutes to enter my information. Tried again, and just physically could not enter all the information they wanted, including complex user name and pass *** Waited a couple of days, and deleted and reinstalled the app to start over again, and this time I got my friend to fill it out after giving her a typed list of all the information. First app would not accept my password, which included as required small letters, capital letters, numbers and symbols. I created a different password *** the app somehow liked better, but the verification code I needed to actually open the account never arrived. Four hours later, eight verification codes arrived at once, and none of them worked. I waited until after midnight so it would be the next calendar day and requested another pass *** It arrived immediately. I entered it, and got an error message which said missing or invalid request parameters.
From the other response I see here, I am quite sure there will be some self-righteous response from these people stating that this was all my fault, but don't be fooled. If it is this hard to open an account, what will it be like to try to use this app or straighten out problems. Thanks to everyone who posted here and saved me a lot more time and trouble.

The email states: Dear Cardholder, After a recent review of your transfer of funds, we detected the use of Movo.cash App for activity in violation of Terms of Service. As a result, you need to sign in by following the button below and review payment history. I never opened an account with MovoCash.

I Request For Physical Card, I waited 12 days but my card didn't arrive. 12 days ago I asked for a physical card from movo. previously there was no notification about the card then I tried to send an email to *** and notify me that the card will arrive with an estimated 4-12 days. but I have waited for 12 days my card never arrived, then I tried to send an email again. but there was no reply in a long time. This is a very bad and slow service

After many calls to customer service and misinformation I was finally able to file a claim for this in January this year (2020.) There should have been a credit to my account after a few weeks following their investigation. I have received no credit and they have not been answering their customer service phone number or returning emails for many weeks.

I have four transactions needed to be cancelled so I called them immediately. And they said these transactions are cancelled successfully. But one month passed I only received the refund of one transaction 100 dollars. And another four is gone: *** dollars. What they told me is these four are paid electronic but why did the first one could be refunded. It's really a fraud!

MovoCash MOVO cash card fraud

MOVO cash card fraud. Lack of responsiveness from MOVO. Me and my wife are victims of identity theft. The person(s) involved opened MOVO cash cards in our names. I have been trying to contact MOVO about the identity fraud but have been unsuccessful. I first tried calling on 20 July but was told that I had to send an email with my information before they would review my account. I received an email 4 days later stating MOVO was reviewing and would call. I received one call on 24 July which I missed. Since then I have called my case worker, *** , multiple times but it always goes directly to voicemail. All I want is for the accounts to be closed.

MovoCash Movo has my unemployment deposit for over a week!

Movo has my unemployment deposit for over a week! I can't get any help, just emails blaming Covid 19 and I want my money and my account closed NOW My deposit went in on the 14th of May it is now the 19th. I have received the deposit made this week on the 18th from another bank because I got a new direct deposit over this. But MOVO still has my money from a week ago! I want it NOW and I want my account CLOSED NOW! This place needs to be shut down it's obviously not a legitimate or honest bank and business. Someone changed my password and it wasn't me. I've tried 10 times to contact their customer support only to get a message blaming Covid 19 for all errors. This shouldn't be legal, I don't think it is. Shut this place down and investigate them. Please.

check was supposedly being mailed to me and I've never heard from them again. On January 22 i was emailed saying $*** was debited from my account. I emailed customer support to ask what was going on. I got a reply by email that same day saying that they were issuing a check to me that would be mailed. On February 19 i hadn't received any type to correspondence from Movo so I emailed customer support again. Got a response from *** that told me it wasn't sent yet and didn't know a date. I would be notified. It is now March 23. No correspondence AGAIN. I just want the money they are supposed to send me. Its been 2 months since they debited the account and said they were sending a check without no correspondence unless I reach out just to get an i dont know answer. Just send it as promised so I can be done with this crooked company. Thank you.

MovoCash My card was flagged for fraud

My card was flagged for fraud. I called the company to find out why. No one could tell me why or unblock my card. I attempted to load the card at 7-Eleven. The clerk put in the wrong dollar amount. Had to void transaction. Tried a second time. Would not load. I checked my app, my card was flagged for fraud according to the app. I called customer service they stated there was no notes in the system so they could do nothing but escalated to the back office. They stated I would be contacted within 48 hours. I was not! I called again and spoke to a supervisor. He stated we just had to hang tight until the compliance Department finish their investigation. Would not give me any more information. This is not only poor customer service but a bad business practice! I would like my card reinstated so I can put money on it. If not, closed my account and send me a check for the funds that are in my account!

Movo has not given a transaction id# for a refund they supposedly sent using the Etherum blockchain. No response at all after 5 days of daily response I have used the Movo card for some time and was recently flagged for fraud in which I resolved quickly. August 9th, The reason for the flagging was because a transfer of Etherum using their Movochain was rejected and locked me out. After verifying my account I was told that the Etherum had been refunded. After asking multiple times for a transaction id# on the blockchain for the refund, I've not received any reply. I had messages exchanged daily up until I asked for the id#. I am hoping they are able to resolve this problem because *** is not easy to lose. I will be screaming from the rooftops soon if I do not hear from them. My social has over 1mil users so I will get my message across. Please do not end up a scammy crypto business Movo because I really liked your services.

Identity Theft / Fraud Prevention Fail - Prepaid Account Fraudulently Opened with My Name and Information It seems account holder identity verification and fraud prevention is not a strong suit of Movo Digital Cash. Today I received a prepaid debit card in my name that I most certainly did not open and did not authorize. In calling the number on the card, I cannot get through to a human to get this issue sorted out. Also, in filing this ComplaintsBoard.com report, it only gave me the option of one address for Movo that was in Palo Alto, California. The return mailing address for Movo for this prepaid debit card is in Palm Desert, California. This is a financial account that is not mine, is not authorized, and would certainly have IRS tax implications for me, but it is impossible to resolve the issue with Movo directly. I have an active credit freeze on my identity with all three credit agencies, yet you still allowed the account to be opened. Next stop, FTC, law enforcement, and so forth. I am clearly a victim of identity theft that was enabled by Movo, and the burden is on me to spend extensive time/effort to sort out your mess.

I was charged for over *** for fees since I opened the account, while my total top up was only *** merchant refuse to refund. Opened the account with MOVO back in early 2017, quickly realized that it does not live up to its promises, the generated temporary cash card never worked, even through you can not use it, you cannot cancel it either. I wanted to cancel, but a portion of my loaded money was on hold in the cash card, there was no obvious way to withdraw the cash I loaded at that time (this is 3 years ago, situation might have changed now). I figured I could just leave it like that since there was no obvious fees. I used the card for about 3-4 time over the years, but I never log into the account to take a look, and I never got any updates from MOVO, no monthly statement, yearly summary, warning, reminders, nothing. Until recently, I received a replacement card from MOVO, I decided to revisit my account. To my big surprise, the fund has almost vanished, and I noticed that I have been charged for *** monthly inactivity fees since I don't even know when. I immediately contacted MOVO about this and they refuse to refund all the fees they have charged. Maybe I did not pay much attention to this account, but the way you have done to my account was not reasonable, just think about it I only loaded *** you charged over *** for the same fee, this is ridiculous no matter how you look at it.

MovoCash Since 7/18 all of my transactions were not authorized

Since 7/18 all of my transactions were not authorized. I could only use my card to withdraw money from ATM 7/18 my transaction was denied. I was told the issue was with the merchant system. On 7/21 again my transactions were denied at a different merchant and again MOVO customer service representative said it was the merchant fault. I mentioned this was the 2nd merchant and then I was told well you will have to submit a ticket to MOVO support and they will look into it. In the meantime , I had to make cash withdrawals an incur $3 ATM fees and $2 MOVO fee each time I used an ATM. I have incur $10 in fees thus far. On 7/23, I received an email response from MOVO support stating that there was a disruption in the financial system and I need to have a card with an EMV chip and I am to let them know if I want one. WELL DUH... I'm still waiting for this card with the chip and in the meantime all my recurring bill pay transactions are denying and I cannot use my card except to make cash withdrawals and I am being denied a refund of fees I incur for utilizing the only option I have, withdrawing my money. To add insult to injury one of the representative told me "You can withdraw your money and close the account" While that maybe true that's not good customer service and it definitely does not promote customer retention. By the way I forgot to mention I could also have done a person to person transaction but that also had a MOVO fee attach to it. Lol

MovoCash I have had NOTHING but issues with Movo using services !

I have had NOTHING but issues with Movo using services ! I have had NOTHING but issues with Movo from day one. My first card got hacked and had to get a new card which was fine and dandy. The Constant issues I have revolve around the customer service having the INCORRECT information on my account which blocks me everytime from there security questions they ask me. They have my wrong DOB on file as *** and my CORRECT DOB is ***. I have LITERALLY asked them 7 times to fix this error to no avail they ask me to send them documentation to verify this error which I have done EVERYTIME and they STILL claim the have no received it which I have provided more than enough times to rectify this issue in there system. The SECOND issue I have is everytime I go to use my card for purchases using the ATM side of the card, I get incorrect pin number errors. I have used the same pin code my entire life so no its not ME forgetting my pin number its YOUR system screwing up YET AGAIN. I have tried to call in to get this issue fixed only to be told they cannot provide that information or change to me I would have to close my entire account and open a new account. You screwed up twice now what makes you think a 3rd time will be the charm? I can use the card as a Credit Card however at Gas stations the card does not work at all even as Credit. I have also had this issue at Grocery Stores using the ATM side of the card. Online I have ZERO issues go figure. My THIRD complaint is in reference to the above issue of Gas stations not accepting my pin code. On 3/11 I attempted to use my card at the pump of a Shell Gas station and it declined my pin so I used cash $30.00 cash yet I get home to see a charge on my card for $38.90 for pre-auth gas purchase taking those funds away from my card which I never was able to even use at that location. This is UNACCEPTABLE to me and this is now the 3rd time this issue has happened on my account. Either refund that amount back to my account NOW and fix the pin issue or apologize to me for your pathetic services and I will take my business to someone I can truly trust which CLEARLY is NOT your company !

I want to resolve an ongoing issue that I am having with Movo due to fraudulent activity occurring in my name and using my personal information. I am writing in hopes of resolving an ongoing and recurring issue that I am having with Movo due to fraudulent activity occurring in my name and using my personal identifying information. In November , I received an unsolicited Movo debit Visa card in the mail at my home address. I called Movo customer service at*** and explained to the Movo representative/ agent that I had not personally opened a Movo account and had not requested a Movo debit Visa card be mailed to me. He stated that the account and card were likely requested and opened fraudulently by an unknown party using my personal identifying information. I asked that the Movo account in my name and personal information be closed and the card officially fully cancelled (not activated); the representative/ agent stated that he would follow through with these requests and also stated my name and personal information would be placed on a list at Movo so that no further accounts or activities could fraudulently occur in my name using my personal identifying information. Therefore, my understanding was that things were settled at Movo. At that time, I also filed a police report with my local police department in regards to identity theft concerns. In early July , however, it came to my attention that a replacement debit card, which I had not personally requested, was in the process of being sent to my home address. I again called Movo customer service at X-XXX-XXX-XXXX and was told by another Movo representative/ agent that someone must have fraudulently requested the replacement card. However, I was told back in November that my name and personal identifying information would be placed on a list at Movo so that no further fraudulent activity would occur in my name. This second company service representative/ agent supposedly cancelled the replacement card from being mailed out and stated she would make sure my name and personal identifying information would truly be added to Movo's fraud alert list to prevent further activity using my name and personal identifying information; I want to ensure that these actions have truly occurred at Movo. There should be no open accounts or cards with my name and/ or personal identifying at Movo (as well as no associated accounts at Metropolitan Commercial Bank, which apparently issues these debit Visa cards). It should not be so easy for scammers to set up and open such fraudulent accounts and then so difficult for honest consumers to get these fraudulent accounts cancelled, closed, and shut down. Based on what I have read on Movo's website about the process of opening such accounts, these accounts seem to be able to be fraudulently opened with just a few pieces of someone's personal identifying information and without a credit check. Therefore even if an individual has placed fraud alerts and/ or credit freezes on their credit report files in order to try to protect themselves from scams and fraud, these alerts and freezes would not help in a situation such as this where an account is being opened with just a few pieces of an individual's personal identifying information that may have been stolen in one way or another, such as ongoing data breaches that are the result of our world's over reliance on computers and technology systems.
