Mike Douglass Plumbing, Inc. is a total rip off. They took advantage of the hurricane and charged me an outrageous amount for a simple repair. A PVC water supply line outside my house cracked and the plumber was only there for an hour and used less than $40 in parts. But they charged me a whopping $720.00! It's unbelievable. I wish I had the guts to refuse to pay.

We had Mike Douglass Plumbing, Inc. come out to fix our sewer line after it broke. They relined about 10-12 feet, but we didn't know there was a minimum due. We had to call other plumbers for additional repairs, including one bill for $400 that had a discount because of a friend. We also had a sewer backup that flooded half of our home due to a rubber sleeve that wasn't fully tightened and tree roots growing through a gap. This caused major stress for my husband who has terminal brain cancer and for me. We had to tear up baseboards, wood laminate, and carpeting, and deal with mold and constant cleaning. We tried to contact the foreman and owner, but haven't received any answers.

Michael Douglass Plumbing is the worst plumbing company ever! We would rate them 0 stars if we could. They cut our house in half and installed new drain lines, but they got the wrong permit and failed inspection. They didn't have the right test and shower pan installed, so it took them more time to complete the work. They also didn't follow the UBC code for the pipe in our Master Bath, which was only 1-1/4" below the floor. They poured concrete only 1-1/4" deep, which is not enough. The VP Dave said it passed inspection and there was no requirement for concrete. They finally lowered the pipe after almost two months and poured the concrete without a vapor barrier. The toilet flange in our guest bath was also installed 1-1/2" above the floor, so we had to hire a new plumber to fix it. The shower pan also needs to be replaced because it doesn't drain properly. They also ran our AC while working, so our ducts need to be cleaned. They sat on our Lanai furniture and left our doors open on four occasions. Don't hire Michael Douglass Plumbing!

I needed my whole house re-piped and I hired Mike Douglass Plumbing. They finished the job and were getting ready to leave when I told them I want them to show me what they had done. They did not want to take the time but I insisted before paying them.

In our contract, they were to install a water spigot on the outside garage wall. They ran the pipe on the inside of the wall and mounted the spigot INSIDE of the garage. They moved it at my request although they didn't want to.

As we walked around the house, I noticed the pipe they were using running across the ground along the side of my house. They told me it was normal and legal in Florida. I asked that it be buried and as I watched, the plumber KICKED dirt over it with his foot.

I decided the person didn't have much common sense and I would call the office the next day.

That evening and the next morning when I turned on the water in my house, the plumbing made a horrible squealing noise. I called the office to rectify the issues. I was told the squealing was normal and someone would come bury the pipes.

I put up with the noise for a while and at times it was minimal. When the temperature changed a few months later it was quite loud and very annoying. I called again about the squealing and someone came out a 2nd and 3rd time still saying it's normaL Not wanting to deal with company I tried to ignore it.

Finally I called again and asked to speak to the owner. I made 7 or 8 calls to the owner who was NEVER AVAILABLE AND NEVER RETURNED MY CALLS. I finally settled for the operations manager who assured me the squealing was easily fixed. After months of frustration and incompetence, finally something would be done.

I scheduled an appointment with the operations manager who said he would come out personally. HE DID NOT SHOW UP. HE DIDN'T EVEN CALL. There was no communication even by the next day. I HAD TO CALL THEM. Again I tried to contact the owner. He couldn't be bothered to return my calls so again I had to deal with the operations manager. We scheduled another appointment. He told me he would explain to the person who would be coming out what needed to be done and they would take care of it that day. A plumber came on the scheduled day, looked at what needed to be done, and said he didn't have the parts to fix it.

This was the WORST contractor experience I have ever had. I would NOT hire Mike Douglass Plumbing for anything!

If the OWNER doesn't care enough to return a phone call or hire competent plumbers, he shouldn't be in business.

I only wrote this in order to save the next person a huge headache and maybe a lot of money.

Sewer line broke and caused a big mess in our home. Mike Douglass Plumbing came to fix it and said they could reline the whole house, but only did a small part. We had to pay a minimum fee and weren't told beforehand. We've had other plumbers come out and fix things, costing us a lot of money. Mike Douglass Plumbing didn't do a good job and caused more problems. We had to deal with mold and cleaning up the mess. I tried to contact them but didn't get any answers. I sent them bills and photos but they didn't do anything. It was a stressful situation for my husband who has cancer and for me.

In July , we had problems with our sewer waste line. When we showered, the toilet would bubble. I saw Mike Douglass Plumbing's ad to reline without digging and replacing our floors, so I hired them to reline our pipe. A few weeks later, we were still having the same problem. I called them, and they came out and cleared the line. That was good for a week or so. Every time they scoped the pipe and cleared it out again, they dug up the area where the pipes connect and redid the Fernco connections twice. Mind you, this issue has been going on since 2019, always with a different plumber. I was told by some of them that there is a problem in the line, and others made other excuses that it was our fault via toilet paper. We have city sewer and plugged on October 31. Water started leaking into our bedroom and living room. I sent Frankie, the guy that handles the pipe lining, a video of the water leaking. They came and cleaned the line again, more excuses. What happened was the pressure of the line pushed up the tub waste line. Then they said it was from our second bathroom, which I showed them the toilet was pulled up. So then their supervisor rejetted all the lines and said the problem was at the connection where the two lines met. Now they had to cut up our kitchen floor to replace that portion of cast iron pipe. Finally, all is working well except our back bedroom floor is destroyed and smelling like mold. The kitchen floor is torn up. I lost count on how many times I have called Frankie and calls to their office. The owner did call and talked with my wife for pictures, which she has emailed to him. Still no response. Basically, their techs are not properly trained. If they saw the issue with the pipe in the very beginning, I would have still let them fix it. It's been four years of ***. Our house is a total mess. I'm not one for bad mouthing a company, and I have been more than patient. I'm at the point of wondering if I should just hire a lawyer. You just can't replace wood floors from 1959. Thank you.
