Horrible law firm
Horrible law firm. I was a client of Freedom Debt Relief who uses McCarthy law to handle creditors who take legal action. After placing my account with Freedom Debt Relief in December , this January 4, 2022, I was served papers for a Discover card I placed with them. Trying to contact Freedom Debt Relief from the beginning. Hoping to avoid a court date set for February 10, 2022. Every time I called Freedom, who, mind you, has hired McCarthy to help in these situations, never seemed to have any information or contact with McCarthy. Freedom could email McCarthy to let them know I would like a call back regarding this matter. But they could never call anyone or had any information regarding the case. All I heard was, "It's with McCarthy Law Firm now. So you'll have to contact them directly". Feeling frustrated I called the law firm Discover was using (***), only to find out McCarthy now Freedom have attempted to make contact with the ***. I call Freedom back, because I never received a response from McCarthy, only to have someone tell me McCarthy made two attempts to contact *** Law Firm to negotiate a settlement. *** says no attempts have been made by either company. After several attempts, with the same merry-go-round outcome, hoping to get this settled. It's now the day of my court hearing, and I am literally sitting in the courtroom, only the get a call from some guy at McCarthy, telling me they made a settlement, FOR THE FULL AMOUNT. I was floored. I waited for the judge and *** lawyer and we discussed a settlement for $600 less then the full amount. NOW Freedom has told me I need to removed the account from the program. Which I gladly did. And McCarthy is NOW saying they represent me, and I can no longer discuss the settlement I made with Discover. I now have to pay another $100 a month, or they garnish my wages. I feel they settled for the full amount because that's more money to them @ 35% of your monthly payment.
