magazines
I ordered a CarCane and in the process, talked to an employee there who said I could receive a magazine to review. I wasn't given a choice of a magazine, but Martha Stewards was suggested. I said okay not realizing what I was getting into. I have called them several times and was able to get out of some promotion in time, but started getting magazines that...

magazine cancellations
This is Gregory J. Cook, and I'm writing to complain about the Magazine Rewards Center. On December 22, 2015, I'd emailed them in order to canceled my subscription. But when I heard back from them, they will not cancel it. Do they, or are they not whiling to cancel any subscription? The magazines that I've gotten from them is Entertainment Weekly, Southern Living, and Sports Illustrated. I don't know why they can't cancel them.
unethical behavior
This must have occurred October 20, 2015 because that is what this company told me. I was charged $19.95 on November 26. I was talking with another company that I thought was legitimate (Holsted Jewelry) and accepted their offer which turned out not what I expected. They in turn offered me magazines they said were free and I said okay. Not knowing I would be charged for the magazines that I never did receive. I never received anything; magazines, gift card, or anything of value from Magazine Rewards Plus. When I called them to dispute the matter they said that I had accepted the offer and too bad they were keeping my money. They are a scam! I never received magazines or the gift card they said I was entitled too for taking my money. You had to redeem the gift card within 30 days that I didn't even know about. Fraudulent company. SCAM SCAM SCAM!
charged but never received gift card promised
This company charged me initial $1.95. Promised me a gift card of which I never got. The nasty woman said I was sent a letter to access gift form on internet. I told her I did not receive letter and I wanted my $19.95 back that I was charged. She said no refunds because they sent me a letter. I again said I did not receive it and told her to cancel the membership. These people are scammers. The letter can after I cancelled. How can I get my money back?
Dispute with your bank as I plan to do. I bought a shark vacuum for my mom and was introduced to some rewards program, which I declined and a few months later they took $19.95 from my account. I had planned to buy another shark, but they have lost my business because of they're third party sales CRAP that you clearly say no to and they do it anyway, hoping you're too stupid to notice the charge. SHARK PRODUCTS, YOU WILL NEVER GET MY BUSINESS AGAIN IF YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIRD-PARTY SALES WHO TAKE MY INFORMATION FOR THE VACUUM AND THEN USE IT ERRONEOUSLY FOR THEMSELVES.
how to stop them from overcharging you
Hey guys. So I fell for the old "free gift card" with trial of our services for $1.95 fee. Immediately after I got off the phone I went to the internet to search for their reviews and saw nothing but bad things. So I called my bank and told them what was going on. They said the best way to stop them from charging me multiple times without my consent was to cancel my card and get a new one. They can't charge a card that no longer exists. Hope this helps anyone that is having trouble with this company.

no refunds
These people are thieves. I enrolled for their magazine rewards program and they were supposed to have a bonus gift card. So I received this post card in the mail that they ask you to initial and send back. I went online to try and redeem my gift card but what they don't tell you is that it expires in 30 days of enrolling, but you don't get the card until 2-3 weeks after enrolling. So I had a few days to do it, which I didn't know because its written on the post card (barely) which I just received. Then I call to cancel and request a refund, but they don't do refunds they say. WOW. I just paid 20$ for NOTHING because it takes 2 months to receive any magazines. You can tell they get calls about this a lot because they kept telling me to read the 2nd to last sentence which is very misleading. No help, nothing. I hate companies like this that get your money then act like they're not accountable for anything. I ONLY ENROLLED TO GET THE GIFT CARD AND THEY KNOW THIS THATS WHY ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO REDEAM. THEN THEY SAY IT TAKES 12 WEEKS TO GET THAT ANYWAY SO YOU WILL PAY FOR THE GIFT CARD BEFORE YOU RECEIVE ANY MAGAZINE OR GIFT CARD.

steal your money
I purchased Clothes from Avenue and the cashier said that I raised enough points to receive three different magazines for three months. She showed me the phone number on my receipt to cancel at anytime well when I called it was just a voice system. I tried every option to cancel my subscription
but the system was programmed to "not understand" what my commands were. They used my debit card number information that I used to buy the clothes and charged me $54.03 for these three magazines. They used trickery to steal my money.
They already were sued for allegedly using deceptive techniques for obtaining subscriptions and causing monetary losses to their customers. The Executive Vice President of Sales & Partnership Marketing is Mr. Sebastien Bilodeau. Their web address is www.synapsegroupinc.com, Phone # [protected]

fraud
Wow! Someone needs to stop this scam! I ordered a product called clear tv from a tv commercial (Not qvc; shop nbc or anything like that). When I called to order - there wasn't any person, just automative ordering. After the order for clear tv was placed, the next thing they asked is if I wanted a three free month trial of great magazines like martha steward, men's health, reader's digest, taste of home... And i'd get a $50 gift certificate for walmart. I clicked okay. I was waiting for the prompt so I could pick which magazine, and it just went into some other questions about more products. Ithere was no mention of cost! Pushing "0" or anything didn't help. There was no way to get a real person!
The magazines started pouring in - all five of them, which also included la cucina italiana which I never heard of! (They may have mentioned it on the auto phone call, but it went sooooo fast with no option to repeat and no summary of what just happened!)
So, I figured i'm getting all of them for trial. After the fourth one came for martha steward and men's health, I knew i'd been scammed. Of course, still no gift certificate.
I found this little card within my junk mail that says "our records show that you accepted our membership offer on 4/10/2013 to enroll in our program and get 4 years of club benefits for monthly payments of $14.95 starting 5/10/2013." it listed all the magazines and "values" and said "all for a total of $360..." what!?!?
It read "please send this notification with your initials on reverse as proof of acceptance during the trial period and we will send you detailed instructions on how to claim your gift card and cash back bonus."
"what trial period!?!? So much for any gift card! They have charged me over $76 already.
I called the [protected] phone number on the card and cancelled my order - I was surprised they had that as an automative feature! Then I called back and pushed for a customer rep. Some"rep."I told her I never enrolled in this. She said was she'll forward it to quality control and they decide if I get my refund. I tried to tell her what happened, and she just repeated herself. I said if they decided, I want what happened on my notes for the request. She just repeated herself again. Wow! I told her they will return me my money. She repeated herself again. (I wonder how much she gets paid just saying one sentence? What kind of"customer service" is that?!) I told her that these magazines aren't even open and you can come by and pick them all up.
We'll see what happens, but I have no faith in this. Thank god I have citi; they've always helped with scams like this.
There needs to be a federal law prohibiting this kind of fraud and these guys need to be held accountable for what they've pulled!

This company takes advantage of the elderly with dementia and starts sending magazines that they are unaware that were ordered (phone contact). They connect with other companies were people may be interested in a product and not realizing there is any cost, they start receiving these magazines and are surprised when they get them. All of the magazines promptly go to the recycle bin! We have now joined the others in their complaint and notified the company that they are working with a Medicare fraud operation called "Prosvent". Prosvent gets people to agree to get DME equipment that their doctor did not approve, and when it comes to them, they find the "braces, etc." totally useless. What's more, Medicare is paying a large part of the cost!

I filed the papers, received the $100 Hotel Discount eCard #[protected]. When I tried to use this they did not know who I was. What the number was for etc. I have called the magazine rewards number [protected]. They know nothing. ( I spoke with Rita and super Bridgette).
Thanks for that information, i just joined the thing, and your'e right it's a scam.
I also was scamed. I don't talk to a live person when I ordered these unbreakable lanterns for Christmas. I accepted the "Free" magazines because of the gift certificates. I received NO gift certificates nor NO magazines. So before the end of the trial I called to cancel the "FREE" magazines before trial was up. I received a confirmation cancelation number and the ladies name Sharanda. An hour later when I checked my bank account, I noticed that $24.95 was taken from my account. I promptly called back to speak with a Supervisor Paul (90925). He told me that my thing was never cancelled and my confirmation number was a valid cancellation number, but he just can elled it. I mentioned that I was charged illegally $24.95 and he said a refund will be credited back to me. I called back the next day, to find out WHY my account had not been credited "Keith" told me it was a "different" company that charged me and gave me a false phone number, so I called the number that charged me. I spoke with Louie. Only to find out that I had to wait 5 business days for it to be credited back. They stole my money seconds after I canceled, but I have to wait for them to return my money to me. Why should I be penalized for them stealing my money. If i don't receive my money back, I am contacting my lawyer and suing. I've also been told to contact the FBI since they are using the tv to committ fraud and stealing people's money.
I work in a call center that offers Magazine Rewards along with other of what we call "3rd Parties" (Value Plus, SaversCity.ca, etc.). Our main client is Beachbody(21 Day Fix, PX90). Also, NuWave ovens and Little Giant ladders. My advice to those of you who want to order something off television is learn to say no. We will offer you a bunch of stuff you didn't see and then try to get you to sign up for these scams. Try the Internet before you make any phone calls for placing the order. Most of us who work at the call center know these are scams. I certainly feel awful knowing I may have scammed some of the nice older ladies who just wanted to order some wrinkle cream.
Magazine rewards plus is a ioke!
They lied to mae about the gift card. Didnt explain the trial fees. Charged my account without my recieving anything at all. Then agreed to refund my money. This was a lie too.
I was told that the company has been in business for 5 years since 2010. That was [protected] stating that I would receive a $50.00 Walmart Gift Card! with three issues for free. That they would charge my credit card or debit card $19.95 per month. So why not is the Better Business Bureau checking these companies out to the letter. The company name was Magazine Rewards Plus some place in Atlanta, GA.
Here's some insider information...
I work for a company which take calls for items such as nutribullet and many of these other as seen on TV products.
Best advice I can give you is DO NOT accept any of these gift card offers. They give you a 30 day trial to magazines and it can take up to 2 MONTHS to receive the magazines.
You'll jump through many hoops to receive the gift card and if you take notice we always say you'll get a gift card VOUCHER not an actual gift card.
The reason you get such horrible customer service is because we dont actually work for the company. We are independently contracted and receive calls for various products. Most times I have no clue about the product I'm actually offered. I'm just given FAQ's which i read verbatim and hope they ask no more questions. And if they do I just say something that doesnt really answer the question but its not technically wrong.
Oh and another thing I'm sitting at home in my underwear when I take your call as well.
If you do want some of those products here's the best tip I can ever give you. When you start the call just say "I will hang up if you offer me any additional products." We get straight to the point after that and most of us hate offering those extras because we know its a scam anyway.
Hope this helps
Magazine Rewards Plus is a total SCAM! We ordered the NutriBullet and we were asked if we wanted a free trial of magazines. We said yes. Magazine Rewards got our credit card number from NutriBullet and charged us $19.95 for this "free trial of magazines"! I called twice and was told that I did not cancel within the 30 day "trial period". I cancelled 4 days after that and they will not refund my money! I am now in an email debate with this company trying to get my money back. TOTAL RIP OFF ARTISTS AND SCAMMERS! How is this legal? THEY NEED BE STOPPED! They say we "agreed" to the 30 day "free trial" and didn't cancel within the 30 days ? and it's okay for them to charge us as we "gave them our credit card number"! NutriBullet is in cahoots with them because they must have given them our credit card information! NutriBullet is also a SCAM! We returned their machine that doesn't even work like the infomercial and we have yet to receive any credit. THEY JUST KEEP BILLING US! Ridiculous. I guess the moral of the story is don't buy anything off the TV. I will be contacting the Attorney General and Better Business Bureau and complaining. Unbelievable.
I also place and order where it was an automated voice and after ordering the item I wanted I was repeatedly encouraged to buy other things. Mag rewards plus was one. I declined every item they kept offering and I was kept on the phone for nearly an hour. This is a terrible scam. I am getting money taken out of my card and I can't afford it. Who can we get in touch with to help us? They need to be arrested.
Steal money, bad service
This is a scam! Do not fall in it! I saw this advertising on travelocity, they were offering $25 cash back and $25 gift card for amazon. I called, was persuaded by the representative to register, after I gave my credit card number I did not have a good feeling about it, the rep could not give me a straight answer, all she could say was "you will receive a notice in 14 days at that point you can cancel or continue subscription" and she kept repeating that with every question I asked. When I asked her I wanted to cancel, she said she could not do it at that point, she said to call a [protected]. I called the number and when I entered the phone# I called from as asked by the voice operator, the called went dead. I tried 3x with no luck.
I called my credit card company, explain the situation. My credit card company called magazine rewards with me on the line, we spoke with a representative (Amisha) who advised I had to wait from 5-6 business days for the system to have my information, they did not have it so soon (?).
Four weeks went by, I never received the notice in the mail but my credit card was charged the $19.95 (And would continue charging every month). My credit card company called magazine rewards again. We spoke with another rep (Cary) and explained we had spoken to amisha in the past, cary said there was no one by the name of amisha. I was able to cancel the subscription but they still kept the 1st payment of $19.95 because as cary said there was no record of my previous call.
My credit card company gave me credit since I had opened a dispute claim with them from the beginning. The 2 representatives from magazine rewards were rude and sounded like they did not want to deal with me. Cary hung up the phone in the middle of the conversation.
Once you subscribe, they say you will receive a notice by mail in 14 days, at that point you decide if you want to keep the subscription. If the magazines are received in 4-6 weeks, how can you tell if you like the magazines when you have not received them at the time you have to make your decision? This whole deal is a rip off. I am very lucky to have capital one as my credit card company, they were excellent in resolving this issue.
And by the way, there was never a mention of the $25 cash back or the $25 gift card for amazon. Beware, stay away from magazine rewards.

redbook magazine
They have fraudulently billed my credit card for a subscription that I did not place. As I explained to the person on the phone at [protected], I have no used for Redbook Magazine, as my children are all grown and I already receive the magazines that I want and read. The charge of $19.95 is fraud and they gave me a bogus web site to email my request too! In repeatedly trying the bogus website I found this website, in-which to submit my complaint.

I signed up for this and received the packet in the mail to order the magazines I wanted, it also came with a form to get my free Walmart Gift Card but since I did this when I was moving into my new apartment I have since misplaced the packet of papers. And I only have the tiny little flyer that I used to contact them in the first place to sign up. Help! I can't figure this out and want to make sure that they don't bill me for I get my Free issues. Or am able to sign up for the gift card.
Frustrated..
I have had same problem they took my first payment and promised me my free magazines and a $50.00 Walmart card. I was able to discontinue service but I never recieved magazines or rewards card. But they received payment. I am sure this program is a scam. A TOTAL SCAM!
I too was promised a gift card, only mine was for $250.00.I never received it or my
package that I was promlsed. What happened to you was the exact same thing that happened to me. What can we do about this? We deserve to get our gift cards.
fraud
I called into file a claim with my furniture warrarty company and was transferred to Magazine Reward Center for a "promotional offer" and gift card from Walmart. I know if something sounds to good to be true it is and I actually thought about signing up for it... I guess they caught me in a moment of weakness. They offered me a 30-day trial of their service (catch #1 you don't even get a magazine within 30 days, so the caches of you really canceling within the first 30-days are rare). The service was 3 magazine subscriptions, coupon offers and a $50 gift card to Walmart - you see as he explained publishers want people back to magazines because they have lost so many due to the internet. The cost is 4 payments of $74.95 and the first charge will be made at day 30. He kept saying over and over that I should try the offer and take advantage of the gift card and then cancel before the trial is over.
I asked him how the process worked and he said that I would get a welcome packet, then I needed to send that in, then I would get the gift card, then the magazines. Hummmm... sounds like the process would take a longer than 30 days. I started to give him my credit card while I was doing a search for the company online and found many other people who had been conned at retail stores into signing up for a Free trial and then were charged large sums of money for magazine subscriptions they never received and then were not able to cancel.
I decided not to go through with the transaction and did not give him the rest of my information. I called my credit card company and warned them that I did not approve any charges coming through and they noted my account and told me if my account was charged to call back and dispute the charges.
Please watch out for this company - do not sign-up for their program.

charged, never revieved, can't contact
Hastled into signing up for 3 "free month subscription" which never arrived. Then, my credit card was charged for the magazines which I never recieved. I have called multiple times and cannot speak to a representative, only their automated system which offers no help. Submitted a request to be contacted by a representative online but recieved a message saying it will take 5 days to be contacted. I was not presented with any information that I would be charged after the free trial. They got my credit card information from a department store where I had purchased items and this "free trial" was added to my purchase. I thought othing of it at the time since I was not given any information regarding future billing and was charged nothing for the magazines when I purchased my items at the store. I bought some jewelry over the phone in response to a card in the mail, and after placing the order, the rep went on and on about a Walmart gift card of $50.00 for trying a few magazines, no obligation. She apparently gave my credit card number to an affiliate club membership . I just read a card I recvd from your co. stating that $19.95 would be taken out of my cr card acct. monthly beginning Aug 26, 2013, which was 2 days ago. I am not interested in any club acct and you must put that money back into my credit card acct asap. I hope I am directing this complaint to the right dept because I don't need a hassle about this. I didn't hear any such info by phone that this was going to occur, and I would not have agreed to this membership. Please take care of this immediately, as I will be in contact with my cr card co.to dispute the billing and get them to engage you to refund my money...it's not worth the hassle just to get a $50.00 Walmart gift card.
