This site gives independent auctioneers too much insight and control, which can lead to potential issues with shilling depending on the auctioneer’s trustworthiness. The biggest concern is that auctioneers have too much information about bidders—they can see when you hover over the bid button and know your maximum pre-bid. They can also delete final bids, which might make you win items even if you were outbid. This creates opportunities for abuse, such as up-bidding internally, especially since they can view pre-bids or decide an item needs more bids. If they overbid, they can always remove the last bid and claim the previous bidder didn’t pay. To protect yourself, bid on the day of the auction rather than relying on pre-bidding to avoid being taken advantage of. Not all auctioneers are equal, there are trustworthy and untrustworthy ones. Just sharing my experience.
Recommendation: Do not put in a pre-bid, bid on day of auction.
