My car got wrecked on Friday morning. Thank goodness, my husband was unharmed in the accident. We gave a ring to the tow folks and asked a few queries. *** James towing told us that if we just wanted to grab our stuff and leave the car, there wouldn't be any charges. So, this afternoon, we swung by to collect our belongings. But guess what? They told us we had to sign over the title/pink slip and cough up $***. If we don't, after 30 days, it'll go to collections and mess up our credit report. When I asked the person helping me about it, she said we don't have to pay the daily $90 fee, that goes away, but we still gotta pay the basic *** fee. They keep the car, either sell it for parts or get it removed by another company.

My company vehicle was at their tow yard and they told me to bring a letter on company letterhead and the car's title for permission to enter. But when I got there, they wouldn't let me in. I had to call the state patrol and an officer had to convince them to let me in. After that, they made me wait for 3 hours in the parking lot just to be mean because I contacted the state patrol. I explained that I had traveled for 5 hours from *** to get my personal items from the car after an accident. The manager *** treated me like I was less than human.

On the 1st of December at 7:00 in the morning, JackJames tow service yard from Fremont picked up my car, a *** Montero XLS, from a public parking spot at ***. I had a DMV paper in the back of the windshield. Newark PD made the complaint, but online it says you're not supposed to tow a vehicle from private property or a public parking lot. Now I have the release paper in my hands. I went to the James tow yard in Fremont and the person there wanted to charge me the full price, even though it hasn't been a full day yet. They wanted to charge me at least $306 plus $75, when they should only charge me half that amount. The $75 is half of that, which is $35. That's what I should have paid because it wasn't a whole day yet, but they wanted to overcharge me. Now I've been trying to figure out what to do and how to get my vehicle back. Being on SSI, I only get a paycheck once a month, so it's been really difficult for me. I feel like they have mistreated me in every way possible. On top of that, when I went to retrieve my belongings, I noticed that some items were missing, like my tablet, a set of earrings, and sterling silver bracelets. I also want to inform you that this has caused me a lot of anxiety and stress. It's not fair that I'm being mistreated just because I'm a woman. This is honestly how I feel. You shouldn't charge someone an amount that they don't need to pay just because they're a woman. When I left the police department on the 1st of December, which is Newark.
