On May 8, 2026, upon checking in at the Holiday Inn Express in Hutchinson, KS, I was told that they had no King room for one night for me even though I showed them the paperwork for Itinerary Number: H15750047. Upon checking further, they found that my reservation had been cancelled on May 5 at 11:15 p.m. They did find me room at a Hilton for the evening even though it wasn't a King room.
Today, May 11, I started my quest to find out who cancelled my reservation. No luck with Holiday Inn Express Customer Service nor IHG One Rewards Support; however, the latter told me that it was Hotel Beds that did the reservation them. How I got hooked up with them is beyond me! After numerous calls to them and waiting on hold for ever, I have yet to talk to a real person to find out why they cancelled my reservation without telling me - no email, text, or phone call. Always get a confirmation number, not an itinerary number and you know it is a real Holiday Inn reservation and not through a third-party vendor. At least I am not still waiting to get a refund like some of the complainants. You are never too old to learn a new lesson about life.
The big question is "did the Holiday Inn Express overbook" and I was odd man out?
Claimed loss: Time and the lack of knowledge "why?"
Desired outcome: Who actually "pulled the trigger" to cancel my reservation and why?
