Green Mountain Energy review: Tree debris left after maintenance

To whom it may concern:

I have been a customer of Green Mountain Power (GMP) at the above address for over 25 years. They have done a good job providing power, notifying me when power goes out and when restoration can be expected.

Recently, late June - early July 2026, Xylem was contracted by GMP to perform routine maintenance on the power lines in Manchester, VT to remove tree branches near the cables that could cause a problem in a heavy storm. I was not at home the day the Xylem team came to my property to trim the trees. When I came home and saw the piles of tree debris left on my property, I was alarmed and assumed the Xylem team would return to clean up their carnage.

When no one returned to clean up. I contacted Richard Derrick and later Josey at the Central Office with my complaint. Subsequently Yasmin contacted me and said she would send a crew to do the clean-up. A crew showed up (only one of whom understood or spoke English) and said they did not have the equipment with them, but would return with a chipper to perform the clean-up. I waited, and waited, and contacted Yasmin, she promised a clean up crew, I waited, and waited and was still waiting on July 28, 2026.

I am selling my house and the mess left by Xylem was an eyesore as the first impression when a potential buyer came down the driveway. I finally, after almost a month of waiting, hired someone to come to clean up the debris. I have enclosed a copy of their bill for the removal. I expect that Xylem will reimburse me in full for my trouble and not having to dispatch the crew promised to remove the debris.
