false advertising
I contacted Geeks on Site due to a blue screen on my computer. I spoke with Daniel who eventually could not help me due to not being able to connect to the internet. I was eventually able to connect and contacted Geeks On Site again and spoke with Nick. Nick advised me it would be $149 which guarnteed Geeks On Site would fix my computer, it would be warranteed for 7 days, and I would receive the same antivirus software that they use. I agreed. My computer was fixed? I started getting virus threat notices from the Microsoft anti virus software that they installed. When I clicked to remove the virus it came up with a screen for me to pay for the full software service! I contacted Geeks on Site again and they advised that it was passed the 7 days and that I was given the one year free trial of the anti virus software that they use! I advised Nick that I was not told it was a trial. Nick advised that these are just threats and they will not harm my computer. Dah! Nick also advised I needed be careful of the sites I went on. I advised I had been on 3 sites that day: Facebook Graigslist, and Windstream. Nick stammered a little and then said that Graigslist uses ads that can be a problem. What a ripoff!

refused to pay
I have worked for geeks on site for a while now. Recently I supposedly breached some term of their contract, to which they can provide no evidence. They now refuse to pay me for 10 service appointments I performed for them. Thieves is an appropriate term I think. and just before Christmas too. So they received over $500 worth of my labor FREE. While they charge $75 or $99 per hour and only pay the Technicians $25.
Technicians provide tools, supplies, vehicle, expertise and a wealth of knowledge and don’t even get mileage compensation unless the service call is more than 30 miles one way. Some of their customers have been royally screwed by them performing remote service. 1 customer I know of even had to buy a new computer after they worked on it remotely, boy was he pissed. It cost him a lot to get it fixed and recover the data on his old drive.
They seem to employ only rank amateurs in their remote “SERVICE” department and then send the technicians to clean p their mess. Not to mention that Geeks on Site USA employs out of country remote technicians with only a passing familiarity with american english. This is my personal opinion, but, I would never use Geeks on Site nor recommend them after what they did to me.

Same thing just happened to me in April. Do not get recruited by this fraudulent company.
computer on fixed as stated
I contacted Geeks on Site to fix my "blue screen" error. After 4 or 5 times of them saying it was fixed and 2 system recoveries, my system crashed again. I ended up purchasing a new one & submitted a detailed letter surrounding my month long experience. I want my money ($149) back. Their website states, " we will fix your computer". If they don't fix it they shouldn't keep your money. They give you false hope to go with their false advertisement. Their people give out incorrect information & the company doesn't even care. I will not ever use them again.
I agree with you and I know from my personal experience as a tech for Geeks On Site that they don't care about the customer. They overcharge for their services and don't pay the tech's enough especially since they are doing the work.
fraud
My computer was running slow & they said they would fix it or return my money. After they worked on it, it runs 3 or 4 times slower. When I complained, they said I was low on memory & it would cost me $80 more to fix it. When I asked for my money back, they refused & said they fixed my computer. I now have a much slower computer & am out $149.265c4
They show up late IF they show up at all, and don't even know how to download Java...save your money and your sanity and AVOID the GEEKS.

they do not explain pricing - watch out
After looking on line for a place to help us with computers, we chose Geeks on Site. We called and they wanted to try to fix our problem over the computer and said if they did not they would send a tech out. They asked us how many computers and what type and we told them we had (2) and they said it would be $150. We explained that both computers had the same problem - one was a brand new laptop and the other an older desk top and we could not connect to the internet during peak hours of the day. We had just moved to the area too so we really needed this fixed quickly (and had already spent $80 with McAfee who did not find anything and told us to do a reinstall which we did and it still did not work).
They ran all of the software and programs looking for viruses, etc. When they were done it looked like we were at the time working properly but it was not a peak hours so of course the next day we had the same problem as usual. We were going to call them back and then I was balancing our account I saw they charged us twice at $150 so we called and they said they would have to review it and never called back. In the meantime, I called AT&T come out and check the lines, which were fine. The AT&T guy said I can tell you have a bad modem (it was brand new) and that Best Buy was selling AT&T modems that were known to have overheating problems and were junk and they didn't even use them anymore. So since he was there, I bought another modem from him and had him install it and all worked perfectly (for another $150). Behold it worked absolutely perfectly after that.
When I called the Geeks again since they did never called me back and explained that we would have not paid them to do (2) computers at $150 each because one was brand new and that they didn't even fix the problem and said they would fix it. They just kept putting me on hold. I also told them we signed up for the monthly maintenance program and that if they wanted to keep our business, they would make this right.
After me complaining and explaining the best they would come up with is reducing the second computer down to $120 and then I told them to cancel our monthly service (they lost $24.95 x 2 computers per month so easily would have made up for the couple of hours they spent "fixing" a laptop that had nothing wrong with it, which they knew).
Obviously they don't care about customers and are sneaky on the pricing so watch out!
Learned lesson, next time using someone locally. After reading all the complaints on here, next time I will check first with complaint board.
I agree and I know from experience that their tech support are not experienced technicians and what they do is just look in a knowledge base to figure out the problem, but all problems are not in knowledge bases. I am a former tech for Geeks On Site and I can tell you that they are a dishonest company and that they operate under another name too. What they charge the customer is such an enormous amount, because it is only about the money and not customer satisfaction.
Here is the other company that they operate under:

Incorrect, Geeks on site should have determined that it was a bad modem, the responsibility still lies with them to make a correct determination. They were just trying to find someway to charge you for their service even though it was not within their realm of influence to fix it so. Geeks on sight is in the wrong.
scam fraud
I hired these people for 149 dollars to remotely fix my computer for viruses. I immediately noticed I could hear Spanish speaking people in the background and asked where they were located, they said Miami. They royaly screwed my computer up beyond repair and later charged my credit card anyway. I have reported them to the BBB and they have not replied. I...

They sent someone out, sorta got us up and running, but, signed us up for monthly charges...didn't tell us.Had them out again for the same problem, 1hour and 15min.later the bill was $115.00 found out about the monthly charges, have asked for a refund of 7 months of monthly charges...which by the way should have covered this visit and then some. DON'T USE THESE PEOPLE. Oh by the way still didn't fix anything, had to go out and buy a new computer !
THEY ARE A RIP OFF!

Yes, I absolutely agree and I am speaking as a former tech for Geeks On Site.
scam
A month ago I was having difficulty with my computer. I called Geeks On Site to remotely fix my computer. After several hundred dollars, and an entire day of working remotely on my computer, they said that they would need to send a tech out to look at my computer. When there was an additional charge for this tech to come out I said no, and asked them to restore my computer to how it was before they started working on it. They did not, and my computer was in much worse shape after they got done with it.
About a month later I was looking at my bank account, and there was a new charge on my bank statement from Geeks On Site. The first three times I called Geeks On Site to clarify this new charge they hung up on me. The fourth time they put me into a holding queue for 1/2 an hour. The fifth time I got someone on the line who said that the person who handles these sorts of things was not in the office, and I'd have to call back.
This company is a scam. Stay away from them at all cost.

computer non repair
I called geeks on site to repair my laptop computer on the 22nd of October. $300 and a new hard drive later as of November 12th I still do not have a working computer. I have not even been able to get a supervisor to return my calls and will never use this service again.

I, too called them as I thought my computer had crashed. They assured me they could fix it but had to purchase 3 hours of service up front! It took the guy all day, we had to take him down to buy a new hard drive and the problems continued. He couldn't seem to get a download right, says he saved my pix and music (no he deleted all music). I had to call em back two days later, slow, not working, stalling freezing! They claimed they fixed it by computer...NOT! Called again, same problem, NOT fixed again. Called again and they wanted more money, for the problems their tech created on my computer! I tried to call the state attorney general office, but geeks on site do not have an address so they can deal with a complaint. Filed with the BBB but never heard back from them. Am now trying to find a reputable person to fix it and seem stumped. My computer isn't that old as we bought it a couple years ago! I always run Norton but it didn't protect me! Please, do yourself a favor and don't deal with these double talking liars. They can't fix a computer or even download right!
I was a tech for Geeks On Site and found out that they don't know what they're doing. On the first job that they sent me on, they told the customer that they could remote into her computer even though she was on dial-up. I know that they have an HR person name Megan that is rude, crude, and obnoxious. She was telling me that I didn't know what I was doing when I fixed a customer's computer. So, I would recommend anyone to not use Geeks On Site ever again.
I got one of their techs from the Baltimore area and the guy was smart- he knew what he was doing and he was very professional. I researched the company online- and read a lot of stuff- but it almost seems too ridiculous. I have talked with customer reps and they seemed fine. My tech did his job. I also spoke to a woman in the billing department and she was helpful and pleasant. Whatever these blogs say, the proof for me was in the treatment I received from this company. They were good. I can't believe this company would be doing so well, if they were so blatantly bad.
service
On Tuesday my laptop computer crashed and I thought I made the correct choice to call GEEKS. I was told that someone would get back to me to schedule a in-home repair. Tuesday evening at 9:31 p.m. a call come in from Miami, FL telling me that a tech would be at my house Wednesday between 10 & 2. After 4 p.m. my husband called and complained that no one showed up. They apoligized and promised a tech would be here on Thursday morning. Again, no one came. I called the Miami number and their dispatcher told me that someone would be at my door around 2 p.m. Needless to say again no one came. After calling again, I asked to speak to their supervisor and was told that my complaint would be recorded and AGAIN somone would be at my home Friday morning at my requested time (9:00 a.m.). After repeated calls to the 1-800 number, I did not receive any response from anyone. It is now Saturday morning and my laptop is still down and I have NOT received any phone transactions, no even to explain why their tech has not called or appeared at my door. MY ADVISE TO ANYONE IN NEED OF COMPUTER REPAIR IS TO FIND SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE "GEEK SQUAD". Their promotional ad to be there same day or the next is a lot of bull.
I do feel a little better writing this complaint.

Whenever I have a problem, I call the Geeks on site. They are friendly, quick, professional and can solve the problem. No challenge they can't handle.
Scammed me out of $500. John Millevoi is a crook.
Too late to recover your money, John Millevoi should be in jail.
So sorry I did not see this site before hiring this company. This company made my computer problem worse so now I have to hire a real PC repair professional to repair it.
File a complaint with the BBB and then challenge the charge through your credit card company. This company needs to be investigated for what appears to fraudulent advertising.
Incident: Sept 10-12. Computer repair.

Took the money and ran without fixing the problem. A lot of time, money, and blood pressure wasted,
Want a refund, but no go.
I called within the 7 days to cancel my subscription. Paid $407 cad for 3 years. All they would refund me was $150 cad. What a rip off! They call themselves onsite geeks. They are onsite crooks!
I must say, I have read every review and the lot of you are crying over something ridiculous. One person doesn't know the difference between "Geek Squad" from Best Buy to an in-home technician from "Geeks on site". I am merely looking for reviews about this company and the reviews I am reading is due to your own incompetence. I know its frustrating losing a computer or electronic device. It has files on it that sometimes are just irreplaceable, its frustrating and you expect something for what you pay. Just an FYI to the person complaining about paying 25 bucks a month. If you were to go to "Geek Squad" they will charge you for an entire year worth of service at minimum you will pay $199, every time you go you will wait in line again at min 15min-2hours only to check it in and get it back 1-3 weeks later. If you would like in-home service from them it is a flat rate of $150 for the first hour. So, in turn, if you pay $25/mo= $300/yr, no waiting around for weeks, no hastle waiting hours in the store just to have to come back and explain whats wrong because they can't seem to get it right. That is a deal! I assume the 1 time fix for $25 bucks didn't set off a red flag for you as, "wow why is this so cheap!?!?" I assure you, that you did agree to the service plan as it is on the site and all the ads as to how they set up payment. Every one is mentioning the fact that their home office is out of Peru, they also have an office in Miami, so what!?!? Microsoft out sources to India, a few other companies that are trusted names who's technicians are not located in the US: Apple, AOL, AT&T, BANK OF AMERICA, BELL SOUTH, "BEST BUY!", CISCO SYS, COCA-COLA, COMPUSERV, DELL, DELPHI, DIRECT TV, EXXON, GE, HERSHEY, HP, IBM, INTEL. As you see I can go on and on, but since we are boycotting them for having an office in Peru, lets also not buy anything from these companies as well. To the person who has a friend with Microsoft...your friend is incompetent, he simply wiped your HDD and reinstalled the OS probably using a restore partition, you wasted beer and $30 because you cant press F11 and follow directions, also why did he even touch your zip drive? The crash didn't come from their and more than likely the consistant crashes are coming from you, perhaps had you followed up with a technician he could tell you what you are doing to make it crash, IE running the OS without proper drivers, which is user error, not them. The only legit reviews are from the person who had to call all week and set up appointments that are being missed "could be other reasons to that like your house may not be easy to find, may not show up on GPS, or you may have actually gotten a bad service tech, also "Ex-GeeksOnSite_Tech" and that is more of a review on working for them, and he seems more like a disgruntled employee than anything. If you are a 1099 contractor, then you knew going into the job you had to file your own taxes, if you are paying that much in taxes out of what you made, perhaps you should be writing reviews on H&R block's website to figure out how to file instead of here. Also you are worried about being treated as an employee?!?! You are a contractor, you are self employed and contracted through them, is that difficult to understand?!? You are NOT their employee, just do the job and quit crying about someone not sugar coating or patting you on the back. I hope that someone is reading these and finds my reply to be helpful and understands that not everyone is going to be happy with every company, sometimes companies do bad things that are unethical. These reviews are not apart of that group, these reviews are from ridiculous consumers that wouldn't be happy until its free and comes with a back massage. Over what I have read I am still going with them over Geek Squad, look up complaints on Geek Squad, there are for sure REAL complaints about things they have done.
I paid $149.95 for Geeks on Site to fix my crashed computer out of desparation in March of 2011. Thought that was the end of it. Then cam my bnak statements. Like clockwork, $24.95 was coming out of my debit card account for the next 6 months. Calls to them only resulted in frustration to stop the madness, claiming that I verbally agreed to a monthly "subscription to the company." Never did, never would. I assumed charges were for software put on my computer. However about 3 months ago after another crash, I began wondering what exactly they did for the #24.95 per month. So, this time, I took my computer to a friend who works for MS. He had to strip everything off and all info was lost that wasn't on my zip drive. My computer is running fine now. All it cost me was some beer and 30 bucks. In order to stop the automatic debits, I changed my debit card information, and told a heavily accented manager there named "JP, " I would not be need ing there service any longer. By the way, this company manager stated they were located in Miami, FL.
My advice: 1.) Never use this company or contact them. 2.) If you do, be prepared to be fleeced at a monthly rate of $24.95 until perpetuity, or you figue out a way to get out of their "verbal phone agreement, " by changing your debit card information.
