GC Services poor service!

These people are the lowest of low. Paid one citation via their WWW site. Used a credit card (which they probably don't like because it costs them...) Tried to pay a second citation and couldn't do it. Website claimed the "credit card couldn't be used right now" Called their office, they don't have anything to do with the website, they can take a check over the phone. Or pay with credit card via Western Union (for an extra fee, imagine that...) One rep called me a "dick" and hung up while saying "### it" when he thought i was already disconnected. Called back and spoke with a woman this time, told her what had just happened and wanted to speak with someone else, she cut me off. Called back again and she cut me off again. Called in and got a different male this time. He started out being very helpful with the web issue, spoke to him about the other rep's behavior, told me he would get that addressed (what an idiot I AM for believing that...) and to wait a couple of hours for the web problem to clear up and call him back at his extension if it didn't. Still wasn't cleared up this morning so called them back again. Got a woman this time, asked for the personal extension given to me, and was transferred back to the original jerk with the profane mouth. Told him i wanted the other extension and the other rep and he told me i couldn't speak with him, first he wasn't available, then he was not handling this anymore, what a liar. Then I asked to speak with a supervisor and magically someone cut in on the phone and claimed to be the supervisor, and he was a real pip. Told me he could not help with the WWW problem, and went back to the old "check by phone" or the Western Union credit card extra fee option. Told him i wasn't going to do that and please check on the website for me and let me know what he finds out.

Decided to try and discuss with corporate offices in Houston, called there and explained the situation. She said hold on and GUESS WHAT? Transferred me right back to this "supervisor" again...

Typical collection agency. Bunch of rude, obnoxious heathens. A**holes.

My medical practice has been receiving calls for my receptionist, who apparently had an outstanding student loan debt. When she informed them that she was not to receive phone calls at the office, a man named "Mr. Short" operating out of their Columbis, OH office called her a liar./ When my office manager took the phone to tell him they were not to call this office, he called her a "fu***ng liar" and stated that my office was a "front" for my employee. When I called back to complain, they repeatedly hung up, until such time I refused to get off the phone. "Mr. Short threatened to patch a three way call to my local police department for harassment, at which time I told him to do so, since there were questions that I wanted answered regarding why he was using profanity. This jerk wouldn't let me answer any questions, but I have come up with at least seven violations of FTC law which he committed while talking to my office. "Mr. Short" has some legal problem coming his way, as does GC Services.

I worked at Gc Services Call Center in Huntington, WV a couple of times and I quit this last time because of the fuel constraints and the way they treat customers.
Well they cheated me out of an hours work and $1.50 an hour on my final check and I was never late or never late from my breaks but the took revenge out on me because I quit so I am filing a complaint with the Labor Board and let them handle it... what a bad place to work!

Furthermore people were getting their tires slashed by disgruntled ex employees and they did nothing since they have a bunch of drug addicts working there and even in supervisor positions since they do not drug test. Sprint/Nextel needs to know this!

A woman called my neighbor and said it was important to get a message to me. Turned out to be a company I had never heard of called GC Services. I called the number and the man who answered was very rude, said I could only get the direct number if someone had called me direct, would not tell me what the business was, then hung up on me.

They should not get my neighbors involved.

I got a ticket in August 2009. It was for "not having a valid PHOTO drivers license" (is that actually a real infraction?) I had a paper issued license from the DMV. When I read the vehicle code he had written it as a normal "not in possession of license" ticket, so I got the ticket signed off by the DMV and prepared the fixit amount of $25 (cheaper to pay then waste gas to return to LA) After not being able to reach the LA courts by phone to ask where to mail my payment and proof of correction, the appearance date past, and when I finally did reach the court 3 weeks after, they told me I had to contact GC services for handling the ticket. It jumped from $25 to $869! There was no way in hell I was going to pay that amount and take a guilty conviction when I have proof I am innocent. Everytime I called GC services I had to deal with rude reps, lots of lost calls (they claimed they would transfer my call and then CLICK!) and more headaches then I have had in a long time! I did some reading online and discovered these guys are LYING when they say the only way to resolve a failure to appear is to pay them. There are several attorneys who will, for a fee, take the case. Not being able to pay an attorney though, I had to see what I could learn for free. If a lawyer can reverse a failure to appear then why couldn't I? It was now 6 months past the court date and I started back at zero again. I called up GC services and told them "I AM NOT GUILTY! I HAVE PROOF!" That didn't seem to make a difference until I started speaking of lawyers who specialize in reversing failure to appear cases. After 10 minutes of hell on the phone, I finally got my point accross and was asked if I wanted to make a court date. YES! I got my foot in the door, for now. After being transferred I got my court date, but it is in 6 months! They claim that's the soonest I can get in...well better late then never as I see it. But that leaves me with the problem of suspended license and another round of battles with GC services. They told me I could apply for a temporary abstract, which would clear my license until the court date. That sounds good to me, so I can drive until I prove I could drive in the first place. But getting this abstract is hell! I was told I needed to go to the GC services window at the court (which is 3 hours away) to see if I QUALIFY for the abstract. I told them I lived far away and if I could get the phone number to the GC services window to check before making a long trip for nothing. I was told "We don't have the number." ...Why not? It's the same company right. I am guessing because they want to do everything in their power to get that fine payed to them. I called again and spoke to the same woman who i argued with for 10 minutes previously, and once again was told they don't have the number. But this time I didn't give them any information, I just said i had a general question. When I started pressing the issue of why they didn't have the number since they are the same company, the woman just asked if I had a ticket number. When I said no she said "Thank You" and hung up! I have looked online and cannot find anything except the 800 # to reach GC services, and all of these complaints of poor service, rude employees, crooks, immoral (if not illegal) practices and much more!

I wish everyone who has to deal with these people the best of luck!

This is amazing! I am going through the very same thing and even lost a job because of it! I cannot get my drivers license back until I pay GC services, for a seatbelt ticket 4 years ago that to my own fault was never paid :(

Now that I am attempting to be responsible but unable to pay the amount that GC wants, I'm screwed! I asked to see a judge, GC said nope...bad part is that in our city the GC services office/clerk is inside the courthouse! I know if I get into a judge I could get the amount reduced or at the very least do community services or something...not pay the $800.00!

My license was suspended for failure to pay, I contacted GC Services who told me I had only ONE ticket open, the fixit ticket I had, had been cleared, and if I pay that day I would get my license back. So I did. My husband and I took off work, went to the courthouse, picked up the abstract and took that to the DMV. The DMV tells me that I have another outstanding ticket [lost fixit ticket] and my license would stay suspended until paid.
Confusing to me since GC Services told me that ticket was cleared. Now I'm out the $$$ for taking off work and I still cannot drive.

Thank you so much! I have two outstanding citations, and tried to pay via webstie. The web security certificate was invalid, which sent up the first red flag. The fact that I would receive an immediate 150.00 deduction if I paid in full was a pink flag which soon turned red, when I clicked and realized the credit card info page appeared before the amount was totalled. The clincher was when the site crashed, and I re-entered my info (idiot!) and a different amount appeared! It changed 3 times. A website with a non-existant navigational or company information is very suspect. I am shocked that LA County has obtained their services. Well... perhaps not.

Don't pay your citations to GC SErvices! Make an appt with the court to see judge and pay it to the court - the place you owe the money to! GC Services are complete crooks. I had an unpaid traffic ticket that went into collection with them and they wanted $991 on a court fine that was $150. They said that paying the ticket to them was the only recourse to lift the license suspension. It wasn't, so I discovered. All I had to do was contact the court, make an appt to see the judge and get the suspension lifted until the hearing. I ended up paying $150. GC Services marked up 900% on that ticket! They are crooks! And they tried the same thing with a girlfriend telling her she had to pay them $1100 but she went to the court and only had to pay $110.

You should pay your bills... bill you are clearly lying. They probably asked you your name to try to locate your information, but you, being scared refused to give them any information so they couldn't tell you why they were calling you. Same reason you dont want them calling your neighbor is why they won't just tell anyone on the phone they are calling to collect money from you.

GC Services harassment from gc services!

GC Services received my name and number as a reference from Robert Castillo on a Student Loan made in 2003. I have lost contact with this individual, moved to another City where my name and number are unlisted and I've gotten married therefor changing my last name. GC Services called my Husband AT WORK! I don't see how they were able to get my husband's name and work number from the application filled out by Robert Castillo because I did not even know my Husband when Robert listed me as reference. Jason Folley, the GC Services Representative claims that this was the information listed on the application but he doesn't even have access to the application. How can GC Services call my Husband at work when he doesn't even know Robert Castillo.

Beware people!

GC Services unethical and professional conduct!

I have received a balance due statement from GC Services for a bill over 25 years old. I called and a representative that answered stated I was going to be arrested, license suspended, civil judgments, credit score affected and other threatening actions. I just wanted verification of the debt and I know the debt was paid years ago and I received the bill a few years ago, wrote them and now I receive another bill. What type of company is this, and how do they exist with these business practices. Is anybody suing them? I called the main office and again given the run around, all they want is money.

I love the sanctimonious B.S. that is handed out by whatever corporate schill posts on this and other threads justifying the slimy and sloppy collection practises utilized by this company. There is no response to the complaints from the people that are harassed for no reason, simply because they happen to reside somewhere that may or may not have been the residence of a debtor or the neighbor of a debtor. Or the attempts by this third-party collector to rake in some zombie debt that might not even be enforceable.

And the argument justifying bad behaviour in dealing with the debtors is, well you owe the money, so we have the right to treat you like crap. If you hadn't incurred the debt, we wouldn't be calling you fifty times a day, calling all of your neighbors and relatives, and training our employees to be rude, aggressive, and borderline threatening. There seems to be quite a bit of anecdotal evidence out there to show that this company toes the line on ethics and fair collection practises. And the point is not that these people owe the debt you ###s, it is the treatment they are receiving at the hands of the collectors.

If you're unemployed or suffering hardships, think before you act. If you know you can't pay something back or are not very good at keeping a job or work with ###s or anything, then don't take out money you can't pay back or buy things you can't afford. It's not that hard. You want a good life, you have to work for it and do your best, not be lazy and get loans thinking it is free money or apply for credit cards you can't make payments on and so forth. If anything, you are the thieves of society

Despite the fact that every damn day I tell that spineless ### who keeps calling that no one by that name lives here the calls persist day in and day out. They went so far as to call my neighbors house and ask them to bring a note for the guy who used to live here and ask him to call them at there [protected] number. What a bunch of ###. I called GC SERVICES back to get their address to write them and request they stop calling me, and they refused. I called to ask for a supervisor they refused. Loosers! My next phone call is the to Fair Credit Collection Protection Agency. Get a life loosers and check your facts first, before you call and bother people that don't even owe you money! To Mr. Herbert Malloy, Jr.-

In all my time working at G.C. Services I have never heard of anything like what happened to you happening. I'm not saying it didn't happen, I'm just saying that it is the exception rather than the norm. And as for the part about us only wanting money: G.C services employees are basically rented out to various companies who have charged payments and whose records show those payments haven't been received. In other words, it's not G.C. services who wants your money. It's the company you owe the bill to. We just want to do our jobs.

To all creditors-

Guys, don't shoot the messengers, okay? I know that, as for the department I work in, even though our department calls out, all the phone numbers that will be called that day are downloaded onto a computer system, so the representatives who call you did not pick the numbers to dial. We just hear a click in our headset, see an account come up on our screen, and go from there. And most of the people I come across actually owe the bill I'm trying to collect so it's not like we just randomly pick names out of a hat and say "Hey, let's pick on this one". And believe it or not, we don't do this job because we love it. We do it because we have to. And guess what? We representatives work in large call centers and don't know everyone in the department we work in. And don't tell me that none of you all have ever worked in a place so packed with employees that you couldn't name everyone in the room, so don't get mad at us if we don't know who "Tina" is. Also, yes we do verify your information, but it's actually for your protection. Somebody you know could answer the phone and when we say "Am I speaking with [your name here]?", they could easily say yes without actually being you. If we did not verify information, we could easily give out your personal account information to, say, an ex or estranged relative or house-sitter, etc. So don't get mad when the rep asks for your info. If you don't trust us, just respectfully decline, and guess what, if the rep gets rude all you have to do is hang up the phone, and if they call back you don't even have to answer. By the way, chances are if you call the number that shows up on your caller id, chances are you will get a busy signal as someone on the message board pointed out. This is because the call center that calls you is outbound calling only usually. We have different departments for inbound and outbound calls usually. Or maybe the hold queue is full. So call back in about an hour, or wait for us to call you back and then ask the representative for the call back number.

As for the unmentionable acts that some representatives have subjected some customers to, while I don't deny having personally heard representatives do such things, I can attest to the fact that there are representatives, including myself, who strive to make the bill collecting process as painless for the customer as possible. This includes being kind, trying to be efficient, and making myself as knowledgeable as possible of the ins and outs of the system so that I can be the best help to the customer possible.

I don't blame you all for being behind sometimes, because we all have things that happen that make it so we have a hard time paying our bills. And, though, again, this is the exception rather than the rule, there are some times when either we or the companies we are representing slip up. I know these are things you have little to no control over. Keeping this in my mind, I would greatly appreciate it if customers would refrain from blaming me and my the more agreeable of my colleagues for bad experiences they had with previous representatives.

I would also like to apologize, if I may, for the actions of my least agreeable colleagues. Thank you for your time.

-Yvonne M.

GC Services don't try and deal with these people

GC Services has called several times to resolve a past-due account. They called my children as well, divulging personal information and using threatening language such as "Do you want to see your father served with papers or his house taken away?"

That isn't the worst of it however. I decided to go ahead and pay the debt and gave them a call. I was transferred to the same gentleman (and I use that term loosely) that has been harassing me and my family. The call started first with a lie. "We don't accept payments by mail." I laughed and told him that was funny because I had gotten something in the mail from them instructing me where to send it (a PO Box). I told him there was no way I was going to give him any information over the phone. I used this terminology several times. He kept pressing.

Eventually I just said "Look, either you want the money or you don't." And his reply was "Either you want to resolve this or you don't. You were the one that stole the money." That was as far as I was willing to go.

"I have the current balance, I have this address, I will be sending a check. Goodbye." *click*

He didn't call back. The nerve of these people. It dawned on me why he wanted it over the phone. He gets a freaking commission from my debt if he collects it personally. I wouldn't give the twerp the satisfaction.

Don’t try and deal with these people rationally. It simply doesn’t work.

NEW FLASH...

Contrary to popular belief, the collector receives their commission as long as you pay your debt. It doesn't matter if you mail it in or how you pay it. As long as it gets paid, the collector will receive their commission. So I hate to inform you, but you probably helped him get a bonus check, just for doing the right thing... paying your bill.

GC Services evil institution!

My boyfriend contacted Colusa County, California, in early March in yet another attempt to make payment arrangements for a traffic fine. Beginning shortly thereafter, a representative from GC Services began her neurotic harassment. She first blatantly LIED to his daughter, 12 years old, to find out the name and location of his employer. With that information, she began contacting him at work, at home and on his cell phone on a daily basis, often multiple times, with threats to garnish his wages, take his property or impose further fines. The unbelievable part is that we've reached the point that we wish they WOULD garnish his wages so that we can begin paying the bill! I finally lost my temper and called her myself the other day. After getting my boyfriend's permission to discuss the case, she put me on hold for 14 minutes; when she returned, I requested a copy of the balance due in writing so that I could process payment (we still have NEVER received anything in writing). She indicated that she was not required to give me anything in writing and could provide the information verbally; she then put me on hold for 7 more minutes; upon her return I requested, again, something in writing so that I could issue payment in full... she told me that I could just give her a post-dated check by phone; she then put me on hold for 22 minutes. I had reached the end of my patience, so I called her back on my other line. As I suspected, she picked up on the second ring. I told her that I would make arrangements within three days and to cease and desist from calling me... I then hung up and haven't heard from her again.

The worst part of this is that it is typically our own government institutions that have chosen to use these kinds of unscrupulous collection agencies on their own citizens. I will not issue payment over the phone to this delusional human. I will issue a certified check from my bank AFTER I have verified that the balance given verbally is accurate.

These are EVIL institutions... please educate yourselves about how to protect your family.

Don't forget, the reason that these government agencies sub-contract collection agencies is because the person that they thought was going to pay them back never did. The sad truth is that most collectors are out there to provide their client(the people that YOU owe money to) the best service possible. It is YOU who owe the money & the creditor obviously got sick of trying to get you to pay your bill so they employed the services of a collection agency. It's quite a simple philosophy, pay your bill on time & it never goes to a collection agency... SIMPLY AMAZING!

GC Services employees don't know how to do their job!

I was contacted by GC Services regarding a Citibank account that my husband and I had. They offered a settlement amount to us and we spoke to the company that handles my husband's 401K account to withdraw what we needed. We were able to get all but about $360 of what the settlement was, so we counter offered GC Services. The manager of the collections department (or so she said she was) supposedly contacted Citibank and our offer was accepted. We made the payment in March for the counter offer. We were still getting bills from Citibank, so I contacted GC Services again. They informed me that the settlement offer had expired and because we had still needed the extra $360, the account could not be settled and closed. When I told them what had happened, they informed me that the GC Services employee I was dealing with had been terminated from employment and there was no record of this counter settlement. They wouldn't tell me why she was terminated and wouldn't fix the account. I found the letter that I received and contacted them back. I didn't have access to a copy machine and no transportation to get access at the time so they told me to mail the original letter to them. MY MISTAKE! Now they are claiming they never received the letter and I no longer have proof of the counter offer being accepted. So now I am in a battle with them.

You were screwed, i have seen it a lot if you choose to proceed part of the computer system they use records all letters sent / all you have to do is get the records released and if a settlement was ever entered into the account there would be record of that to:

UNLESS they told you to pay the settlement by a date and you just paid them hoping it would work then its on you... (that happens more of the time).

GC Services are a bunch of crooks. Most collection agencies are in one way or another. NEVER agree to anything or sign anything, even if it is over the phone.

If you want to pay off a debt, contact the original creditor and see if you can them directly instead. You should NOT have sent them the letter. They are NOT your friend and they do NOT have your best interest at heart.

GC Services harassment!

I just received a call from GC Services. The woman asked me go to a neighbors house to leave their (GC's) telephone number on my neighbor's door. I don't even know the neighbor, and they want me to go knocking on their door. At first, I thought it was a friend or family member trying to get in touch, until they gave me the telephone number and it was an 800 number. So, I asked who they were and she replied "GC Services". I looked up GC Services on the internet and saw it was a collection service. I've never heard of such a thing. Isn't that harassment? I'm not going to even approach my neighbor. I saw this complaint board on the internet and decided to enter this incident.

GC Services are a fraudulent and harassment operation. They are looking for a person who has an account with American Express and states that the person owes money to them that has not been collected. GC Services are after social security numbers and are in the business of identity theft. Be careful to what information is shared with any representative. They are currently under Federal review. Be aware of a man named Severson. He will insult the person answering the phone and also use derogatory language. THIS IS A SCAM BUSINESS !

GC Services LP has continuously harassed me with with telephone calls at all hours of the evening. They have called my parent's house which is not my listed telephone number. Audrey, a call service representative was very nasty to me, threatened me with lawsuits, garnishing my wages, etc even after the fact that I told her that I was on social security disability. I settled out of court and paid the debt.

I am very displeased and tired of their harassment.

Received repeated calls from a [protected] number the messages were for a couple who do not reside in our home. After several days of intemidating messages I returned the call to [protected] GC services. I asked the man to remove my number he said it wasn't in thier system, he asked for the name of who they were calling- I gave it- he said they were not in his system. I advised the man both were in the system or you wouldn't be calling me. I advised him this was the only call he would get to remove our number if I received another it would be filed as harrasment- he said that is an empty threat you can't do anything like that. We can call when ever. Then he hung up on me. GC Services web site talks about customer service and all they are is a bunch of cowards with poor customer service.

I just received a local call from GC Services. The man asked for my wife by first name only, and when I asked him what it was regarding he said it is GC Services. When I asked what GC Services is, he responded by trying to verify my home address. I told him that unless he told me what GC Services is, I wouldn't confirm an address. He then said, "don't worry I'll get your neighbors to do it, I'll have them knocking on your door, your obviously not a truthful individual." Then he just hung up! This is definately HARASSMENT!

I talked to someone from GC last week and told them that I would send pmt in the form of a check to them on the 18th. Today is only the 16th and a lady called to harass me about where my payment is...again I told them that I would send it out on the 18th - all of a sudden a gentleman jumped on the phone line claiming to be the floor manager and told me that he was listening to the whole conversation and that sending a payment in the mail was not acceptable - he demanded me to give him my bank account info over the phone and post date a check for the 18th (like an e-check) - due to identity theft & other security reasons I refused - then told them again I would mail a check on the 18th - the so called floor manager persisted and the phone conversation ended very badly - I told the guy he was a *** for the way he was treating me and he said "No you are"! Wow - I have never in my life been treated as badly by any bill collector or collection agency the way I have been treated by this one! Something needs to be done ASAP!

My mother called Citibank to set up payment arrangements since my father finally started receiving disability payments from the VA, they informed her that her debt was sent to GC Services. She called and spoke with a Mr. Bill Equitz whose conduct falls just short of Satan. He called my mother an idiot, irresponsible, told her that if she didn't come up with $10, 000 in 2 days then he would take her vehicles and foreclose on her home. She explained she didn't have $10, 000 just lying around and wanted to set up an EFT payment plan; he told her that "payment plans are no longer an option for you" and his reason was because my mother wasn't mentally capable of handling such responsibility. He demeaned her, dehumanized her, and humiliated her.

When I called to ask how to file a formal complaint i was given the run-around because Mr. Equitz was a manager! So I told them every law that they violated according to the FDCPA and that I would file complaints with the FDCPA, the BBB, the FTC, the DA's office for my state and theirs, and also with the Judge Advocate's Office since my dad is a disabled veteran that served for 20 years and the house that they threatened to foreclose on was bought through a VA loan... the gentleman on the other end began apologizing on behalf of his manager and said that payment arrangements was now an option. I asked what their physical address was (so I could send a Cease and Desist Letter) and he wouldn't give it to me!

I DON'T KNOW WHY THIS COMPANY IS STILL IN BUSINESS!

HERE ARE SOME ADJECTIVES TO DESCRIBE THEM AND THEIR LACK OF ETHICS:

-hostile

My grandmother had an account with AT&T. She recently got ill after moving from OH to NM and used her credit card for her new place but stopped making payments a couple months ago after she got sick. I, (her granddaughter), as well as my aunt who is an authorized user of the card and not a cosigner (I asked for the contract from AT&T and it does state she is not responsible for the debt being an authorized user and not having a card of her own), have received numerous calls from this company. Sometimes I would get them at 6:30 in the morning. After calling managers and asking them to stop harassing both my aunt and myself they promised they would. Got more phone calls but the people refused to tell me where they were calling from. It would have worked if I didn't recognize the voice. So I called back to talk to a manager and he swore up and down that nobody called from your company. Got a call today from my aunt, hysterically crying because some woman from this company told her that they would go after her and take "everything she has", then I was called and the same woman screamed at me telling me that I was going to jail for fraud. I asked her where she was calling from and she refused to tell me, she said she wasn’t from a collections agency since they knew it was fraud. She also said that my aunt signed off on statements and received a letter which I learned is also false after talking to my aunt. First I asked how we can make a payment plan and she said that they need all 26 grand which I had to laugh at since it’s absurd. I also offered to have her call back to speak to my grandmother and was told "no, I don't want to speak to her I would rather see it go to the fraud department" she said it was "very convenient" that my grandmother was hard of hearing and that she would have to deal with myself or my mother before hanging up on me but not before screaming at me for nearly 15 minutes. She basically accused me of stealing from my grandmother, and told me I was going to go to jail since the fraud investigation showed it wasn't my grandmother authorizing the purchases and she knew I was lying about my grandmother not being here. Which is funny because I talked to my grandmother right after and she knew exactly how she spent her money. I also talked to AT&T who told me they could not take anything from my aunt since she is not a cosigner and could not send me to jail without talking to my grandmother and having her press charges if I used the card without her knowledge. Basically, this company lied about who they were and the extent of what they could do. I have a husband in Iraq and three little ones, this is the last thing I need. She told me that I should be expecting the police to show up anytime to take me to jail and that she would be happy about it which is why she didn't even want to talk to my grandmother. This company has done nothing but harrass myself and my aunt for months. I have finally contacted a lawyer.

I had a bill in collections from GC Services Limited Partnership. I paid this bill November 11,2006. It is now March 13, 2007 and my payment was never sent to the original biller, they claim they never received my money. I have a confirmation number and a bank statement showing the payment made, and they still insist payment was not made, and would not make...
