Gary Lang Auto Group I went in, knowin how much I wanted to spend and a loan approval from my personal bank in my hand

I went in, knowin how much I wanted to spend and a loan approval from my personal bank in my hand. I repeatedly told them I did not want them to run my credit and I did not want their financing. They ran my credit report anyway. After bein offended by sexist comments made by the loan officer I decided to go purchase my vehicle elsewhere. Now I have it on my credit report that they ran my credit WITHOUT my permission. Overall bad experience.

If I could rate them a ZERO I WOULD! Very disappointing! Right on website it says “GARY’S GUARANTEE THE PRICE YOU SEE IS THE PRICE YOU PAY. Other Dealer’s prices may include rebates that not all consumers will qualify forThis was a done deal, we were buying a car UNTIL THEY LIED! (and then tried to blame Allison, the associate who took at least 20-30 minutes talking to me on the phone and even putting me on hold to get verification from the Chevy Manager...shame on them) Called ahead of time and spoke to Allison to confirm that the FINAL price listed for Chevrolet Equinox stock #C200664 on the website was correct and there were no hidden additional costs. She even checked with the Chevy manager and said that was the final price and just Tax, Title, License and Doc Fee were additional. She was very sweet. Great, set up appointment for same day, came in to test drive it and ready to buy! After waiting and waiting they come back and say oh do you have a lease, UGH WHAT NO, what does that have to do with buying the car? Oh well there is a $1,600 discount so now the price is $1,600 higher than the final price listed on the website! Well thank you for wasting our time and LYING! So apparently they do EXACTLY WHAT THEY SAY OTHER DEALERS DO...THEY INCLUDE REBATES THAT NOT ALL CUSTOMERS QUALIFY FOR! Really it’s not that hard! What’s the point of having “GARY’S GUARANTEE?” It’s a whole load of crap! The worst part is, the salesman at Ray Chevrolet told me there was no way they would sell the car for the price they were advertising! I told him well for shs and giggles I will call first and verify. After I got it verified by Allison I cancelled my appointment with Ray Chevrolet, he was very kind and said if it doesn’t work out give him a call...guess who I’ll be calling tomorrow morning and now he gets to say “I told you so”. Apparently he has had other customers say the same thing, how hard is it not to lie! Buying a car shouldn’t have to be a game! All they had to do was tell me on the phone what the price was and stand by it! I don’t even care if they would have said oh you need to have a lease to get the price online otherwise this is the price...still would have come in and purchased it. But when you are told a price and they change it, guess what even if it’s only a dollar I’m walking out! I CAN’T STAND LIARS! I wish I could add the picture of the detailed pricing for the car I was going to buy with the HUGE GARY’S GUARANTEE RIGHT NEXT TO IT! Sucks because I would have a new car right now if they were truthful and honest! Oh well Just have to wait another day and go to Ray Chevrolet...I would much rather deal with honest people!

We purchased our first Tahoe here and another truck so we made the drive to test drive a Subaru. We saw on the internet "test drive and receive a $35.00 gift card". Our salesperson was new and did not know any of the options on the Ascent, he tried but not really happy he didn't have any training. Worst salesperson I've ever worked with. Why would they have someone working there that doesn't really know anything about cars? They could not match another deals ad, so we decided we'd leave. They spent over an hour trying to figure out how to present us with a gift card and finally I told them to just mail it. It's now been over 8 weeks and we still have not received any gift card. The sales force and internet person keeps calling us to see if we've found a car (we've been in no big hurry) and every time someone calls, I explain having a $35.00 test drive bonus on a website and not following thru with giving them out is really false advertising and really unethical. They explain that is wrong and a manager is going to call me. NO manager there has ever reached out to us to clear this up! They really don't care about their customers! Over the weekend we drove to the southern suburbs (Chevy dealership) and did purchase a wonderful vehicle. We didn't go there for a "free gift card" that's really not what it's all about! GO somewhere else for your new car!

Gary Lang Auto Group If I could leave a 0 Star Review I would

If I could leave a 0 Star Review I would. I went to this dealership to buy a new *** After test driving, when I asked about finances/ numbers on the loans etc, after making us wait they circumnavigated, essentially never giving us a straight answer. So in order to look at the numbers I had filed in a credit check application. In a single day, they ran 4 hard credit pulls with unknown financiers despite me telling them to do it with *** only. This lowered my credit score. Now they are not answering calls or connecting with the "sales manager". I would never go back to this place.

Gary Lang Auto Group No stars

No stars. I went to Gary Lang Auto Group on September 20, and had a terrible experience with the Sales team. But after reading other complaints, I don't think it's worth my time to type out the same stuff they've been doing to other customers. This dealership is so dishonest. The Sales Manager was rude, and the salesperson had no idea what they were doing. The Internet Sales team was misinformed and dishonest too. They didn't honor the price on their website and made up a story about the vehicle being on dealer trade, forcing me to pay more. I'm glad I didn't waste too much time talking to them because I was really angry within just 10 minutes. Avoid this awful dealership. Subaru should put them on a blacklist.

Gary Lang Auto Group I signed the papers and gave the down-payment, and I was just waiting for the vehicle to arrive

I signed the papers and gave the down-payment, and I was just waiting for the vehicle to arrive. The bank had an issue with the documents submitted by the financing department's senior employee. I made multiple calls and sent emails, but they were ignored for 48 hours. I had to drive 60 minutes from my house to the dealership to get answers. Unfortunately, the application was declined by Kids Finance because the papers were not submitted correctly, despite the employees insisting they were trying to help us out. This was all due to the incompetence and the huge level of cockiness displayed by one of the senior employees. There was a complete lack of concern for their actions, and no remorse or apology was given. I would never shop here again!

Gary Lang Auto Group I agree with the other post

I agree with the other post. I wish I could rate the dealership as a ZERO. Deception, lies, snake oil, dishonesty, and all-around crookedness. I usually don't waste my time writing reviews, but this can no longer go unnoticed. I should have never allowed myself to be taken advantage of. I should have never allowed the general &^%$#) and all these crooked players to continue running their game. I spend most of my time working and expect my truck to do the same, so I bought another 2500 Express. This piece barely made it off the lot before the repair bills started pouring in, just like the rainwater did at the rear doors the first night the truck was on my driveway! Garbage. Garbage. Garbage! Don't waste your time or money at this dealership! Ignore the big lot, fancy radio ads, and presentation. You WILL LOSE your hard-earned money.

Gary Lang Auto Group I had my 2015 Optima checked multiple times over the course of 3 years for an 'wobble' issue during acceleration

I had my 2015 Optima checked multiple times over the course of 3 years for an 'wobble' issue during acceleration. The technicians never acknowledged feeling the 'wobble' even once. However, I experience it consistently. In fact, I felt it just a minute after leaving the dealership. I immediately called the service advisor and informed them that the issue could be easily replicated. I asked why their technicians couldn't feel it. The advisor suggested bringing it in for diagnosis another time, but I refused. After 3 years of reporting the problem, I decided to take it to another Kia dealership. Surprisingly, the service advisor there felt the 'wobble' within the first 2 minutes of driving. They diagnosed it as a transmission problem and replaced it under the 100k mile warranty. It would have been better if the technicians at Gary Lang Auto Group had consulted with Kia earlier, considering my long-standing complaints. I don't trust their technicians anymore. It seems like nobody cares or believes what customers tell them.

Gary Lang Auto Group I totally agree with the bad reviews 'bout this dealership

I totally agree with the bad reviews 'bout this dealership. Also, this dealership been in the news lately 'cause they used their digital marquee to say some real mean and racist stuff 'bout immigrants and the present administration. That kind of behavior ain't right for any business, especially one that's so well-known in the *** community. They should get a real good scolding from the auto companies they work with. We ain't gonna support this business no more 'cause they just add more hate to our already messed up and divided community in *** County. And let me tell ya, this dealership don't even deserve one star like that other reviewer said. We've had the same terrible sales tactics and service, and they always overcharge us in the 19 years we've had our Subarus. We gotta go to other dealerships outside our community to get treated fair, honest, and polite.

Gary Lang Auto Group I wanna thank Gary Lang Auto group for being the worst dealership ever

I wanna thank Gary Lang Auto group for being the worst dealership ever. I went in lookin' to buy a 2021 Subaru WRX STI limited with a price tag 'round $39,000. First, they told me I can't test drive the car 'cause it's too powerful. I let that slide and tried to make a deal. They sent a manager to check out my truck (apparently one of the Langs) and he came back with a ridiculously low offer, like it was an insult. He said they won't budge from that price. So, I asked if we could negotiate the price of the car. The salesman talked to the manager and came back sayin' "he's gonna sell the car for $46,000". That's $7,000 more than the sticker price and what the salesman and I had discussed earlier. I was done at that point and walked out. The next day, I went to Kenosha Subaru, test drove, and bought the same exact car (21 wrx sti limited) in a different color for 'bout $9,000 less than what Gary Lang had told me. I also got a buddy who bought a WRX from Gary Lang and he said he ain't never goin' back 'cause their service department is just terrible. So, I'm tellin' ya, STAY AWAY FROM GARY LANG AUTO GROUP! They're shady, untrustworthy, dishonorable, and a lousy excuse for a car dealership.

Gary Lang Auto Group Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware)

Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware). I went to Gary Lang Auto Group because they had the car my wife wanted at a good price. They told us we could get two incentives, so we decided to finance part of the vehicle instead of paying cash. However, we never received the incentive and ended up paying $1,000 more than the list price. It feels like a scam! I tried talking to several people there, but no luck. The sales manager didn't understand my issue and asked for the sales sheet, promising to call me back. I sent it, but no call and he wouldn't answer my calls. Their customer service is horrible!

To make matters worse, we found out that the sales manager had been driving the car before we bought it. When we got it home, we noticed dog bite marks on the rear door panel. We took a picture and sent it to them. They said they would fix it by replacing the door panel assembly, but they couldn't get the parts for the new car yet. After six months of following up, they finally ordered the parts. We live over 50 miles away from the dealership, and they know what needs to be done, but they insist we drive there just for someone to look at it and put us on a waiting list for the back-ordered part. I already told them that the assembly is available from another place, but they don't seem to care. It's really shady business. I don't understand how they have a high rating from ComplaintsBoard.com. I hope I get a response from Gary Lang Auto Group regarding this review.

Gary Lang Auto Group I asked about a deal that seemed too good to be true

I asked about a deal that seemed too good to be true. They had a *** SX for $26,262, much lower than the *** at over $30,000. They told me the car was reserved for someone else (even though it's still on their website after 2 weeks), but they had a *** EX with fewer features than the *** coming later. They said I could probably get a similar discount but couldn't guarantee it. They sent me the window sticker to see the car's features. I had to put a deposit to hold it, but they wouldn't take it over the phone and I live 3 hours away. I was willing to drive if they confirmed the price for the discount. They said they would check with the sales manager and get back to me. I left work early to make it there for the payment. After a few hours, I called and she still couldn't reach her manager. She said she would call back in a few minutes. She called back almost 2 hours later and said they wouldn't give a discount, listing the car at ***, $27,440. The car with more features would have been cheaper, so I declined. They said they would contact me if a discount was offered. A week later, the car is listed on their website for $23,939, $3501 less than the ***. I emailed the salesperson about this but got no response. They were clearly trying to make me overpay or not actually selling at the discounted price by saying they're not available and upselling the incoming ones.

Gary Lang Auto Group Some of my concerns at the dealership were once I began dealing with the sales manager, ***

Some of my concerns at the dealership were once I began dealing with the sales manager, ***. I was assured by several individuals over the phone that the dealership would match the text offer range given by KBB on your dealerships website. The offers I received after driving two hours were over $2,000 less than the lowest online value range I was given. I understand it may vary more for older vehicles l, but I was wanting to trade in a 2022 K5 with *** miles in like new condition. This was fairly frustrating after being assured of the range prior to my long drive. I was more hoping that it was at least going to be close to the low end of the range and not a few thousand dollars off like I was assured it would not be. *** was also adamant that my vehicle was not AWD and originally gave me a trade value for FWD. After some back and forth and finally showing him it was in fact AWD, *** stated that they would increase my trade value $500 to get my business which I was very grateful for and would have led me to purchasing a new vehicle. However, this is when the larger issue began. *** took the paperwork back to add the $500 extra on my trade in and show the updated costs. When he returned, I noticed that the price of the vehicle had increased $500. His business practices were extremely deceiving and concerning. I have never in my life encountered that when purchasing a vehicle from a dealership. For him to state he would give me more on my trade in and then just hide the $500 increase in cost elsewhere in the transaction is not right. When I asked him about claiming to give me an extra $500, when he in fact added it back and hid it somewhere else in the transaction, he became very confrontational. *** up all the paperwork, threw it in the garbage, and stated well its right on the paperwork in front of you. I believe his actions were intentional to try and get me to avoid noticing the increase in the vehicle price.

Gary Lang Auto Group GL I found the vehicle I was lookin' for at Gary Lang Auto Group

GL I found the vehicle I was lookin' for at Gary Lang Auto Group. A 2023 KIA *** in the color and trim level I wanted. After negotiatin' a price, the Sales Manager convinced me to place a down payment of $1,000 to hold the car as it was a hot item. We negotiated a price and I gave him the down payment, and he assured me they would hold the vehicle. The vehicle was supposed to arrive 'bout 8 days from when I gave the deposit. The sales manager then turned me back over to my initial sales rep to confirm the hold. A few days later, my son became ill and he had to go to the emergency room and ultimately to a children's hospital to be treated. The day after he was admitted to the hospital, my rep called me to tell me the vehicle came in early and I could come in to fill out the paperwork and pick up the vehicle. I explained my situation with my son to my rep and he was very sympathetic and told me not to worry, they will hold the car. I told him I would be in later in the week to pickup the vehicle, and I texted him each day to keep him updated on the situation. Only two days had pasted, and it was still not the original date the vehicle was supposed to come in that I get a call from my rep sayin' the Sales Manager made the "business decision" to sell the car to a customer who came in off the street and wanted the vehicle. They did not even call or text me to give me the opportunity to try and come in at that moment to buy the vehicle. They just sold it out from under me. My sales rep was mad as well. I asked to talk to the Sales Manager, and after voicin' my disgust and askin' why I even placed a deposit, he told me that the down payments really doesn't mean anything and they are not obligated to hold the vehicle. Nice! Now I have to wait a week to get my refund back and I cannot locate the vehicle I want. A perfect example of why consumers hate dealerships. Unethical, manipulative and right out bad customer service. Thanks

Gary Lang Auto Group I bought a car from Gary Lang Auto Group and boy, was I in for a surprise!

I bought a car from Gary Lang Auto Group and boy, was I in for a surprise! The dealer totally knew that this car needed a ton of repairs, but they conveniently forgot to mention it to me. Sneaky, right? Well, the problems didn't start popping up until a whopping 28 days after I drove off the lot. Can you believe it?

So, I decided to confront the dealership about this mess, but they couldn't care less. They just brushed me off like I was some kind of nuisance. Rude much? Frustrated, I took my car to the VW dealership for a check-up, and boy, did they find some issues. Brace yourself for this laundry list of problems: the turbo was stuck open, there was oil leaking from the rear main seal, the lower control arm bushing was torn, the inner cv boot was torn and leaking, and to top it all off, the rear coil springs were broken. Yikes!

Now, here's the thing. I really love this car, but I can't help but feel like I've been swindled by the dealership. I mean, come on, they should've fixed these hidden issues before selling it to me. It's not fair, you know? I just want them to step up and take responsibility for their shady actions. Fix my car, Gary Lang Auto Group, and make things right!

Gary Lang Auto Group I recently bought a 2023 Suburban on Friday, September 23, 2022

I recently bought a 2023 Suburban on Friday, September 23, 2022. The salesperson I dealt with was alright. They mentioned that the interest rates would vary depending on the bank. However, they ended up giving me the highest rate even though I have a perfect credit score. Unfortunately, I haven't received any updates on my credit application. They initially offered me a good deal on the Suburban, but then changed their mind during the financing process. The salesperson, ***, is quite rude and talks really fast, trying to deceive you with their tricks. I'm prepared to handle this situation properly by either securing a lower interest rate that I deserve or taking it to the next level.

Gary Lang Auto Group I went online to check out Gary Lang Auto Group's website to find a new *** rear wheel drive, Wind trim car that was in stock

I went online to check out Gary Lang Auto Group's website to find a new *** rear wheel drive, Wind trim car that was in stock. I started talking to ***, who is a Client Relationship Specialist, on February 28. I sent her a couple of emails asking about the pricing. Then, a salesperson named *** emailed me and asked about the car I was interested in. I told him again which car I wanted. But then, he quoted me a price that was $10,000 more than the Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price. I told him that I only wanted to pay the suggested price and not get ripped off with an extra $10,000. He just said good luck with my search. It's not right to charge $10,000 more than the suggested price for a $47,000 car.

Gary Lang Auto Group May 16: They told me the truck I just bought had a new transmission, but it didn't

May 16: They told me the truck I just bought had a new transmission, but it didn't. The day after I purchased it, I couldn't drive properly because the transmission wasn't shifting correctly. Luckily, I had an extended warranty, so I took it to my local dealership. They informed me that I needed a new transmission. I reached out to Gary Lang and the sales manager advised me to use my extended warranty and assured me that he would cover the deductible. The extended warranty company confirmed that a transmission replacement was necessary, but unfortunately, they denied the claim because the contract was only a week old. Frustrated, I sent an email to all the managers, explaining the situation and expressing my inability to afford the $5200 replacement cost. Andrew, one of the managers, called me back and requested that I send him the bill, promising to take care of it. I promptly sent him the bill a week ago, but I haven't received any payment yet. When I called him, he assured me that he was working on it, but still, nothing has been done. In desperation, I suggested splitting the bill, to which he agreed, but again, nothing has happened. My dealership contacted them three days ago, informing them of the situation, but still, no progress. My advice is not to waste your time with them.

Gary Lang Auto Group On 8/12, I bought a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek from Gary Lang Auto Group

On 8/12, I bought a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek from Gary Lang Auto Group. I also got an extended warranty, gap coverage, and Auto *** service for 5 years. On 3/12/22, I traded in the vehicle at a different dealership for a new 2022 Subaru Crosstrek. Gary Lang Auto Group refunded the remaining balance of the extended warranty and gap insurance, but they are refusing to refund the remaining balance of the *** plan. The finance department at Gary Lang Auto Group said there's no refund for this product, even though they initially said it would be refunded if the vehicle was traded in before 5 years. Other complaints against Gary Lang Auto Group show that *** is refundable, as they have refunded it to other customers. I'm asking for a refund of *** because I only used the service once, and it wasn't performed well.

Gary Lang Auto Group I got a 2017 Kia from Gary Lang on 9/29

I got a 2017 Kia from Gary Lang on 9/29. They only gave me one key and they wrote it down on the paperwork. I called a bunch of times to get the second key, but they never called me back, so I just gave up. On 9/20, I brought back the Kia and bought a used car from Gary Lang. When I returned the Kia, I reminded the sales guy, Joe Dicks, that I only got one key. He said he would take care of it. Almost a month later, Kia called me and said they didn't get the Kia back. I called Gary Lang and they said sorry and that my returned car got lost in the upper parking lot and never got returned. They said they would handle any late fees. On 11/4, Kia told me they were gonna charge me $350 for not giving back the Kia with the second key. I called Gary Lang and talked to Manager Miller. He told me to email him my paperwork and he would take care of it. I haven't heard anything back from him and now I have a bill for $350 from Kia for the missing key. I have paperwork from when I leased the car that shows Gary Lang only gave me one key. I tried calling, but they haven't gotten back to me.

Gary Lang Auto Group On [protected], me and my partner went to Gary Lang to check out the car he saw online the night before

On [protected], me and my partner went to Gary Lang to check out the car he saw online the night before. He decided he wanted to buy it so he went inside to talk to the sales rep. First thing, the sales guy asked my partner Leo if he had car insurance, and he said no. They said they couldn't do anything unless the car was insured. Then the sales rep, Jordan, asked Leo to ask me if I could add the new car to my insurance. I said no because I was going to cancel it anyway, so I went ahead and got a new policy with ***, Pol # *** that had gap coverage. I emailed the insurance card to Jordan that same morning at 12:10pm. They already knew the car was insured because they asked for it in the beginning.

Then, 7 days later, I was looking at the paperwork and I saw that the "loan officer" sold another Gap policy for the car. They added $895.00 to the car's financing. I emailed Jordan on May 21 to ask why they sold another Gap policy and how to cancel it. He said the business manager would call Leo. But the supposed business manager never called. I emailed Jordan again on [protected] to let him know that no one had contacted Leo, and he replied on [protected] at 11:52 am saying that he would get his manager to call tomorrow morning. But that never happened.

Gary Lang Auto Group On November 8th, I left my Subaru Outback at *** Subaru in McHenry, Illinois for service and repairs

On November 8th, I left my Subaru Outback at *** Subaru in McHenry, Illinois for service and repairs. I dropped off my keys in the night deposit. The next day, I called to ask about a loaner vehicle. On November 10th, at 1:12 p.m., I received a loaner vehicle. I informed *** Subaru that I needed to travel out of town and that my car wouldn't be ready until I returned. They told me I couldn't take the loaner vehicle out of Illinois or Wisconsin, even though it wasn't stated in the contract. I spoke to the manager of the service department, ***, and he confirmed this. He was aware that the contract didn't mention any restrictions on taking the vehicle out of Illinois or Wisconsin. As a result, I had to rent a vehicle from Enterprise on November 20th, even though my car was still being repaired. I leased the vehicle from November 20th to December 1st, which totaled $372.07. I also paid a $200 deposit, which Enterprise refunded when I returned the rental. The loaner vehicle contract only stated that I couldn't take it outside of the United States, not to Kentucky or Texas or any other state. I am seeking reimbursement for the rental period, which was the entire time my vehicle was being worked on, for a total of $372.07. Additionally, I was told that the vehicle couldn't exceed 100 miles per day, which it didn't, but this restriction wasn't mentioned in the contract. I am requesting a payment of $372.07 for the extended time it took to repair my Subaru, which cost me $800.00.

Gary Lang Auto Group I went to Gary Lang Auto Group to try to finance a car they had listed online for $9,999

I went to Gary Lang Auto Group to try to finance a car they had listed online for $9,999. When I got there, the salesman told me I couldn't finance the car because I didn't want to give them a down payment. I didn't need one and they had told me the same thing on the phone the day before. I told him that, and then the manager came over. He was really aggressive and talked down to me, saying he knows his math and he's trying to help me. I got up to leave, but the manager yelled at me to sit back down. He kept being rude and lied about the price of the car. It was actually $15,000, not $9,999 like it was listed online. Then he tried to sell me a $30,000 car that I didn't even want. He held onto my keys the whole time, making me feel like a hostage. I demanded my keys back after he continued to be rude and didn't want to talk about the car anymore. A few days later, I got an email from Gary Lang Auto Group asking me to review them, so I did. I wrote a short and honest review about what happened. Then they replied to my review, exposing personal information about the sale, my credit, and details about my trade-in, like the model and year. It's really unprofessional for a big company to do that. They need to remove the information, or I'll take further action if it's not taken down within 30 days.

Before anything, the sales asked my partner Leo if he had car insurance, he said no. They said they couldn't do anything if the car wasn't insured first. The sales rep, Jordan, asked Leo to ask me to add the new car to my insurance. I want the Gap Policy that they sold for an extra $895.00 to be canceled, like I have been asking. It's not about the money, it's about the fact that I asked for the additional Gap insurance policy to be canceled and nothing has been done. This issue is still open and unresolved.

Gary Lang Auto Group I bought Auto ***, a protective stuff for the inside and outside of my 2020 Subaru Forester in 9

I bought Auto ***, a protective stuff for the inside and outside of my 2020 Subaru Forester in 9. They say you gotta put it on every six months. They put it on 10/13. Six months later, I got a card in the mail telling me to make an appointment for another round. I did it on 4/16, and then again on 11/19. Few months later, I got the card again. This time, when I tried to make an appointment, they said I gotta wait until September, 2022. But I gotta have surgery then, so I can't make it. I called to change it, but they said the next available is in March 2023. I asked what happens to my car if I don't get the coating, and they said it might get rusty and stuff, but they can't do anything about it. I asked for the manager, but only got voicemail. I can't go anywhere else for this service; I gotta go through the dealership. Because they can't keep their promise and the service is never available when I need it, I want some of my money back for the coating. If I can only get it every two years, it feels like I'm not getting what I paid for and I don't wanna deal with it anymore. I only got half of the services in two years. It's a five year deal, so I think I should get 3/4 of what I paid--$2615 plus tax. That's $1900 refund (rounded down, no sales tax). I think that's fair 'cause it's a 5 year plan and I only got 2 out of the 10 times I was supposed to get it.
