I was in the hospital fighting for my life so we weren't able to pay on time. They told us we had until the 14th of April to get it paid. We said okay. We went in on the 12th. They told us that they had sold it and they couldn't give us any more information about it but that we could get our documents back. We kept going back to try to see what we could get but they were never open. I would go all times of the day. Still never open and no one there. Everything I had was in that storage and under any other circumstance I would have made sure it was paid on time or before time but due to me being on my deathbed it was impossible but they gave us a date to pay it and they lied. On top of that they never sent out any bills. They never sent any emails. Are never called nothing. They failed us and then they told us to pay $500 when we would call and ask how much the storage actually was. It was closer to $200. Please don't be scammed like we were and stay away from this place
Recommendation: My recommendation is to just never rent a storage here
I'm not surprised and my heart goes out to you, I'm glad you survived. They are beneath contempt.
The facility manager lied to me and said that she was the only one in the company working that day (Presidents Day Monday February 17) but assured me over and over that I'd be able to make a payment or move-out arrangement and the district manager would approve it. In fact the district manager was working and available that day but she never even called and left him voicemail or sent him an email and she sold my things the next morning, I had only ended up up for auction because once ExtraSpace imposed its policies on the facility, which had been Life Storage, I was hit with rent raises and exorbitant fees and got
physically ill from the stress and couldn't even work but somehow managed to keep up until the district manager pushed up the deadline on the payment arrangement I was diligently fulfilling, Plus one of the payments I made was not recorded. All I wanted was to move out, and I found a better facility to move my things to, but I was trapped there, with my unit overlocked so that I couldn't even sell something in it in order to pay up and move out, and I couldn't afford to pay both to catch up and to move out. I've lost everything I made great sacrifices to pay a great deal for a long time to keep safe, and everything was fine
until ExttraSpace Storage came into the picture. It's a lousy company founded and run by lousy people and it's simply all about greed. It needs to be shut down and in order to accomplish that its victims need to go public and raise public awareness. Lawsuits, class action suits, complaints filed, and reviews aren't enough. This war needs to be waged in the media.
