I transferred my 401k to ETRADE approximately two months ago. The first check that was sent was sent to the wrong address due to being told the wrong address to mail check. The check was then sent and processed and the account was funded. I took a distribution without any issues. I received a call from my personal bank account that there was some discrepancies and my personal checking account was locked due to them receiving a message that ETRADE was checking on an issue with the check they received. I called ETRADE and found out that they were checking on the legitimacy of the check that was sent to them.
They needed verification and contacted my former 401k firm for verification and received information from them and they told me it would take two to three business days to verify everything. I called them back two days later and they again needed verification because the information my former 401k firm was not enough information. They them asked for more information, a statement from the 40k company about the transaction and distribution of funds. I sent the information they requested and they asked me to give them a few days to review the materials and they will get back to me. I waited four days and they never called me back so I called them back on June 29, 2026 for a third time asking them the status of my account. They said that they NOW needed verification of my bank account. They called my bank and got the verification they needed and to give them two days to verify the information, review the account and then the account would be unlocked. I called them back on July 1, 2026 to find out the status of the account and I was told that my account was still under review with the Operations Department and that it could be another week before there would be any answers. Mind you I have been waiting since beginning the June for this account to be verified. I am very upset and stressed about this whole situation. I have been treated horribly and definitely not like a customer should be treated. I just want my money to be released. I have never had this much of a problem with ETRADE in the past and I am going to never work with ETRADE in the future. I just want to take my money elsewhere.
Desired outcome: I want my account unlocked so I can remove my money and put it elsewhere and never work with ETRADE again.
