Harassment
This company has been harassing me for months. I have contacted them on numerous occasions to remove me from their list without any success. They have told me that my phone number has been removed but I get almost daily messages left on my phone. I have been interrupted during meetings at work. Each time I contact them thaey promise me that they will resolve the problem. They quote a reference number of [protected]. On a couple of occasions the person I was talking to to try and get this matter resolved was extremely rude to me . This is not acceptable to be harassed like this because of their inefficiency. I would appreciate any help in resolving this issue.
Thanks

Harrassing Wrong Person with Info obtained by Public Record
This very rude company called my home this morning trying to "get a message" to someone else regarding "personal business." When I asked "Crystal" how, where, and why she obtained my phone number, she stated that it was in the "public record" associated with the social security number of the person they are trying to contact. I stated my phone number is not to be associated with anyone but myself and I wanted to speak with a supervisor. "Chris" said I was just being nosy by asking why they were calling me in regards to someone else's "personal business." I told them they were nosy to involve me in someone else's business. After they hung up on me, I called back and spoke with a very nice woman who looked up my phone number and listed my number as do not contact. These collectors are rude, arrogant, deceptive, etc. They should not be allowed to contact random numbers regarding collections issues for their clients.
This company called looking for me and in turn asked to speak to my landlord instead of me about a debt that is questionable at best. My daughter who they coerced into getting involved who is a minor and who was confused, she is a nine year old. They have somehow found out about where I live and who I live with and seems to be trying to get more information about my life. This is an issue that pertains to me and me only I am absolutely disgusted at the practices this company will use and at any and all costs. I am disgusted and would love to have the money to sue these people until the cows come home, hopefully they what they have coming to them in some form or another. This place is a joke and a complete and lack of utter time.
I have had the misfortune of having the last same name as the person this company is trying to contact. It is apparent that they are using master phone lists and calling everyone that has the same last name. They state that if the the matter does not pertain to you, to ignore the message and delete it. They were told last year, the first year this started, that there was no person within the family who had the name "Howard". Nowhere within the recorded messages that they leave, do they state that if you are not the person that you need to take time, (yes, your own private personal time) to maybe give calling them at the number they left for "Howard" to get them to leave you alone. Then year two came around and they started calling for "Howard" again. When I called them to tell them no "Howard" is in the family blood line, they were extremely rude, stated they would take me off the list and then, without any apology abruptly hung up. There should be a law against using Master phone lists, like those used by politcal action groups and your neighborhood Goodwill Organization in an attempt to harass innocent people in pursuit of getting as much dough as they scrape up for the company coffers. I have no sympathy for those of you who that we should be more understanding. I've read some of your comments and you are way off base. Nobody should have to put up with this, even if they once were acquainted with the offending perpetrator or not.
If you actually look at the perspective collections side of the party then you are way off ... its not the collectors that place your number on file its done by the people that opened that acct with the client originally...if its son, brother, father, or friend then your problem should be with them... not complaining because you got a call...also try to be polite if you hang up in someones face how are you being professional? in collections there is no do not call list that is for solicitations... FYI you can be polite and asked then to update there systems...but just know when your brother Johnny opens another acct in his name and he DOES NOT PAY HIS BILLS they will try to call him to let him know that he is delinquent and you decide not to pick up he phone or pick up and hang up ...trust me you will get another call... AGAIN FYI if you are polite you can achieve anything ... even get people to pay there OLD BILLS!
Ok I used to work for the company and calling them bunch of low-life half-breed mongrels leeching off of decent human beings. Its their fault that your number popped up when they were searching for a contact number. All they want is a good contact number and all you have to do if you dont want to give out that number or if you dont know the person WRITE A MESSAGE or as if you can get your number removed from the system you call them idiots cause their calling you when all you have to do is say "dont call this number anymore" and as for asking what this is in regards to they are not going to tell you due to 3rd party disclosure they dont want to get fined so dont get ### with them when they tell you that FDCPA law are the laws they have to abide to. Dont blame them if you were listed as a known associate.
What kind of people prey on other people? From what I see ERC is nothing more than a cell of below human quality to pick on innocent people. Yes, I understand that there are some that owe money and lie, but if a person tells you that they are not that person, then you should believe them until you can prove otherwise. Don't keep calling them and harassing them. I have a new number and get calls for 3 different people. I believe one of the people is older and was taken advantage of, so she changed her number. The other sounds like a younger guy who has ripped off everyone he is in contact with. Why must I have to keep calling back these numbers and explaining I am not that person? Also, with ERC when you pick up the phone it is a recording. How are you suppose to tell them that the person they are trying to reach changed there number? Plus, and this is my favorite, they leave a message and tell you to ignore the message if the person is not at this number. How do you ignore it if they call every day and leave the same darn message? What a crock this company is with a buch of low-life half-breed mongrels leeching off of decent human beings.
maybe if u wasnt so rude and nosie maybe they wouldnt treat u that way
Harassing the wrong person!
Ever since I got into a new phone number 2 years ago, this collection agency has continuously called my number looking to collect debt from someone who I assume had my number before me. Despite my explanations that I am not that person and requests to be removed from their phone lists, I have been harassed by these people at work who have even insisted that I must have "dated or hooked up with him." They've also asked for my social security number and when I replied that I wasn't giving out my personal information they were complete jerks about how stupid I apparently was for letting someone get away with identity theft--I've researched, to be sure, if any identity theft has been going on and there is no trace. These people are aggressive, belligerent, and do not listen as I've been constantly interrupted and cut off. Of course I've stopped answering any 800 or unrecognizable number, but it's unfair that they're infringing on my privacy and keeping me from picking up when an institution that I might actually be connected to needs to contact me.
Oh god! this is exactly what happens to me every single day they call leave a message and expect you to call back! Okay I mean if you really had a debt & you totally knew about it well then yeah you would right away catch on to the program & say "oh you know what these people are calling me because I owe this this and this" but I say this is just people who want to take advantage of other people by charging them with things they didn't even knew about! These people are complete rip-offs they just try to get easy money! I also see there is many people who complain about this situation & I suggest we all make a petition to have this SUPPOUST company investigated because for so many people to be complaining about the same thing doesn't make since!
THESE TOTAL IDIOTS (ENHANCED RECOVERY CORPORATION) CALL ME EVERY DAY WITH AN AUTOMATED MESSAGE FOR THE WRONG PERSON. THESE GENUISES STATE IN THEIR MESSAGE "IF YOU ARE NOT THIS PERSON THEN DELETE THIS MESSAGE" - REALLY? NOW THESE FOLKS HAVE REALLY GOT THEIR ACT TOGETHER. THEN THEY NEVER, AND I MEAN NEVER, ANSWER THEIR OWN PHONE, WHICH TELLS ME THEY ARE SERIOUS ABOUT COLLECTING SOME DEBTS. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TYPE IN PART OF THEIR NAME ON THE SEARCH SPACE AND AUTOMATICALLY PHRASES SUCH AS "ENHANCED RECOVERY CORPORATION SCAM", "ENHANCED RECOVERY CORPORATION WRONG NUMBER", "ENHANCED RECOVERY CORPORATION HARRASSMENT" COMES UP. APPARENTLY THESE LOW LIFES HAVE BEEN UP TO WHATEVER SCAM THEY ARE PULLING FOR A WHILE.
Your complaint is not ridiculous (as stated by Geg) -- These guy keep calling my CA cell "looking" for some Micheal guy, I have repeatedly told them that I don't know this guy -- spoke to the FL Attorney General's Office today they have lots of complaints (similar to ours) about ERC. DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER! Call the FL Attorney General's Office at [protected]. Or the FL Office of Financial Regulation [protected] and file a complaint.
Your complaint is ridiculous. If you called them and told them they were calling for someone you do not know...without the defensive attitude that appears you have then they would not ask you about your social. You had to have lied and pretended you were the person they were asking for for them to even assume your social would match the person they are looking for. As for the insisting you hooked up or dated them...YEAH YOU ARE SUCH A LIAR! I do not know why you would even assume anyone would think your complaint was ligit. Go get a life!
All they do is enhance the truth!
ERDC ENHANCED RECOVER DEBT COLLECTORS WILL LIE then THEIR "SUPERVISOR" WILL LIE, then the "FLOOR MANAGER" ===>>> WILL LIE. beware, i was helping my step-son settle a way late credit card and ERDC told me a LIE at least FIVE TIMES, supposedly over a recorded line (probably to teach newbies how to be so good at lying). We agreed to pay off his account, and they made like the electronic transfer would not happen until the next Monday, when I assured them I would have the amount covered (I needed to transfer some funds). They even mentioned some hole-in-the-wall small bank as their transfer agent so I would fall for the lie, all three of these blood-suckers repeated the same lie - that the account won't be hit until Monday. FRIDAY it hit, costing me bank fees. Any firm that deals with SNAKES like these people are SNAKES themselves... SO DO NOT FEEL BAD ABOUT TELLING THEM WHATEVER YOU WANT THEY WILLL L-I-E TO YOU WITH NO HESITATION AT ALL. BEWARE. DEAL WITH THEM ACCORDINGLY. WE TALKED IN GOOD FAITH THEY SURELY DID NOT.
Scam and cheating!
I had first complaint logged about this completely underhanded firm. Turns out, they did hit our account a day early, not what they kept telling me, so I called to complain. They are well versed in covering their rather filthy backsides, but the fact remains all three of them lied to me several times. I told him to review all the tapes. He was belligerent, but kept an even tone. So that if you become a tad irritated, they can call you on it as you raised your voice, but they did not. It is okay to be belligerent if you keep your tone down. Shows how dishonest they are. I told him the deal is off, we will deal directly with Chase bank and let them know what kind of outfit Enhanced (truth) recovery is. I asked THREE times if they can still go into the account, He ASSURED ME THREE TIMES they cannot. I IMMEDIATELY called the bank and they said as it was an electronic transfer, they CERTAINLY CAN make another attempt to get the funds. We had to go into the back for a special stop order as it was an electronic transfer. My recommendation is NOT DEAL WITH THEM. GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR AND MAKE THE SAME DEAL. First they gave us 55% settlement, then went down to 35% (after saying 55% was the lowest they possibly could go) Get the 35% deal from Chase - it is usually all they can sell it to the collection agency for anyway.
Harrassing phone calls at work, even after written notice to stop calls or will lose job
I have been getting recorded collection calls from this company, at work. I researched the call, but have not returned them. I have, however, faxed them (2) letters requesting them to STOP all calls to my work. They are putting my job in jepardy and, still, the calls continue, altbough they are using different phone numbers. The numbers change each time I send a fax asking them to stop.
I am following the procedure to have the calls to have the calls stopped at work. I am now sending a certified letter, return receipt, for them to stop.
Question: If you apply for a Credit Card and put down your work number, why on earth do you think that would be required? That's because if you do not pay your CCD bill, they can contact you to find out why. If you are not allowed calls at work, I wonder why you would hand out your work number so freely. Was it because of that shiny $5, 000 credit limit?
There are FEDERAL laws that limit the way collection agencies are allowed to contact debtors. The method used in your case is PROBABLY illegal.Contact the FTC for details, or google FED LAWS collection agencies. GOOD LUCK.
This company has called me multiple times to collect a debt for a person whom I do not know. I have returned their calls multiple times and explained that my phone number IS NO LONGER the phone number of the person they are seeking; and that I do not even know the person they are calling for. They have explained that they have "multiple" collection accounts for this person; and that my phone number is associated with all of them. They have promised me (multiple times) that my phone number would be removed from these collections accounts. Finally, today, I threatened them with a lawsuit for harassment if they continued calling me.
Debt settled then balance sold
Joshua and Liza Akley @ Enhanced Recovery Corporation agreed to allow me to settle a debt for Direct Merchant for less than the full amount which I did so within the stated time period. I was told I would receive a faxed closed letter several times which I have yet to receive but I did receive a settlement offer letter. The balance of the debt was sold to another company within ten days of my paying the settled amount. The other company is harassing me for payment. I have written to the new company disputing the debt and asked for the 30 day verification that stated in their letter. I am now going to file a complaint with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) as well as the NYS Attorney General's Office and maybe if enough people have been wronged by Enhanced Recovery Corporation, we, the people, could get together and contact an attorney and start a class action lawsuit against Enhanced Recovery Corporation. If you are interested, please feel free to contact me.
Dawn
hey Paige Robertson, stfu
most people here have already said they did pay the original bill or didn't even have said accounts
Maybe if you all would pay your f****** bill's then you wouldn't have to worry about collection agencies calling your f****** precious phones, you can pay those cell phone bill's and manage to eat out instead of cooking at home then pay your f****** bill's and stop complaining.
I received a call on 1/25/2012 from Enhanced Recovery Company saying I owed $339.00 from Sprint or Nextel (she didn't know which one) from June of 2005! I told her that I never had a Sprint or Nextel phone EVER, but she had my old address, my Social Security number and my current address and, apparently, my new phone number.
When I asked about the Statute of Limitations regarding debt collection, she told me that they can try to collect forever.
This company is the lowest of the low, somehow getting my information and SAYING I owe a bill from 2005. I have never received any correspondence via mail from this company EVER. I sent out a Cease and Desist letter to them today. Also, have contacted an attorney as I do not wish this company to report anything negative on my credit report. Although, being that the 6 year Statute of Limitations has expired, I believe that they cannot do that. But, who knows?
Is this the same ERC in Jacksonville, FL?
I had an account which was created by fraud turned over to ERC. ERC never sent a dunning letter, just a settlement offer and payment coupon. I sent two validation letters with no response. I then disputed the account as fraud with the CRAS and HSBC who was the original creditor sent me a letter from their fraud investigation.
ERC was calling me 5 times a day through a computer dialing system, leaving 1 message that was voice automated - no mini-miranda. They never reported to HSBC that the account was in dispute.
I filed a compliant with my state's AG office and the response ERC sent was they tried to request additional documentation from HSBC, but at this time it is unavailable. The account is being closed out.
We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and ERC strives to treat every customer with dignity and respect. I have hired an attorney and am filing a suit against this company.
to the previous statement
A, you are ###ed and incompetent to understand the fact that people are WRONGED in life. and B, its a legal and civil right to dispute, and stand up for yourself. Stop being a sheep and accepting people walking all over you. Companies who scam people without returning calls and it involving your money, of which everyone has so little of these days, is unjust and shouldnt be tolerated by anyone who doesnt want to do so. Boo to you
Maybe if you were more responsible for your own debt then you would of never been in this position to begin just pay what you owe and quit pointing the finger at everyone else when it was your fault you didn't pay your bill to begin with period. Why people blame everyone else for there own problems I will NEVER UNDERSTAND!
My research shows that Enhanced Recvery Corp does not purchase or sell debt they are simply a "Middle-Man 3rd party collection agency, so it would be impossible for them to have sold your debt they settled. What you need to do is call ERC and request a Paid Letter which they must provide then you can give that to the other agency ceasing your problems...BUT AGAIN ERC does not purchase or sell debt so sounds like your Beef would not be with them. Feel Free to check my resources by visiting Erccollections.com and read the about us link
I have the same problem now. I settled a debt with this company and now another company is harrassing for the same thing. I'm not sure what to do about it.
Shawntay
I've had a similar experience with ERC. For the past sixty days, my account was not only paid in full, but it was "overpaid". I was due a refund of $300.36 (the difference from the overpayment) and haven't receive the money yet. I have called and talked with so many different representatives and managers, now I'm running into some of the same people 3 or 4 times on the phone.
At the beginning, I received the money from a mortgage company in Maryland for refinancing my condo. Since the check wasn't originally written by me, ERC was suppose to re-write the check and send it to the mortgage company and then of course, the mortgage company would write me a check of the full amount.
I have called 2 times a week regarding the refund check, and ERC would state that the check has been sent to the company, which of course it hasn't. They had confirmed the check number and the check amount. The mortgage company would state that "they haven't received the check" and to tell ERC to cancel the original check and send another one.
I'm finally getting to the point where I'm going to send a letter to the Attorney General in my state and complain about their bad professionalism and poor management skills. I need closure on to this.
Immoral, illegal, unethical and unprofessional collection agency!
I found the correct address and further info on this immoral, illegal, unethical and unprofessional collection agency. This following information may be very useful to many now and many to come...these people need to learn their lesson on how to treat civilized people who indeed have a life. Do not, I say again, do not give them any checks or credit card...

I called to pay my settlement amount and the woman stated that I now needed to pay more than was stated on the document sent on the letter. With no explanation she began yelling at me and stating that I should call back when I have enough money pay what owed. Telling me that I should be more responsible and own up to my debts which made no sense because I was calling to pay?
There is a huge SCAM, a multimillion dollar SCAM, being forced on the american public!
And our legal system is in on it!
third party debt collectors!
When you stop paying on a credit card debt,
The original creditor is mandated by federal law, to charge-off an account when no payments have been received for 180 days.
That date is refered to as the Date of Last Activity (DLA)’ and reported as such, to the credit reporting agencies by the creditor.
After they write it off, they "Bundle" all these uncollectable accounts and sell them for pennies on the dollar on the open market, this is where the 3rd party debt collectors come in.
They BUY a "BUNDLE" of this uncollected debt info from the original bank.
However what they buy is your name, account number, and what you owed to the original bank.
They rarely or never get your "original signed contract" with the credit card company, your last statement of payment on the account, and the original writeoff amount.
This is what they need to "PROVE" in court that they now have "TITLE" to your original debt.!
This information is usually sold several times within the "networks" still as a BUNDLE
of uncollectable debt!
They will harris you on the phone, send threating letters, saying that they represent
"XYC LLC" who now has title to your Bank of Bundi account in which you owe some
ridiculous amount.
First off the "XYC LLC" company is usually some "shell" company that the collection law firm has setup, because by law, the law firm itself cannot hold title and try to enforce a judgement against you.
So they have to "represent" a client who holds title, so they claim against you.
The law they are trying to collect on is "CONTRACT" law, , which requires them to have "the original signed contract", and the "deeds of transfer", indicating your account specifically with the "deeds of transfer", and a copy or original of your last statement, indicating your last payment on the account, and the "charge Off" amount. Which the original bank "wrote Off" its books.
They never have any of this information, what they present to the court is a hodge podge of information, a pasted piece from an excell spredsheet with your name, address ect, usually 2 pages sideways, "certifications" which are assembled by their own staff on their own computer systems, including usually an amount you owe which they assembled from their own computer system. From this "Budle" they bought for pennies on the dollar!
The problem is unless you "ANSWER THE LAWSUIT" Requiring you to file an answer to the suit, contesting the "CONTRACT CASE" Pay the $15.00 fee to the court, and Show up on the Date of the court hearing and contest the case by demanding that they supply the original contract, deeds of transfer, and last payment statement, "
indicating your account "specifically" and the "charge Off" amount...
They will request a default judgement from the Judge..and he will grant it!
I have specifically fought 3 cases against me, taking several court dates, time off from work, endless hours of waiting, but they realized
I knew what I was talking about and that they could't proof their case,
IE get over on me...and they dismissed their suits...

The reason the courts are usually on their side is "MONEY"
each time they file its $15.00 fee, each time you answer its $15.00 fee,
multiply that times the thousands of collection cases and you can see how the courts make money..not to mention that its a "Buddy" system..

Criminal harassment!
Criminal harassment. I am looking for a consumer protection lawyer because ERC has been calling me daily for 8 months going on 9 months. Today I got 2 calls. They are looking for someone with a DIFFERENT: 1.) spelling of my first name 2.) spelling of my maiden name - not even the name I have gone by for 23 1/2 years 3.) ssn 4.) address. The only thing...
Read full complaint and 18 commentsEnhanced Recovery Corporation is incompetent
Thinking about hiring a debt collection company? I would avoid Enhanced Recovery Corporation like the plague. Although I have never been late on a debt, I received calls from this company daily for weeks. It was just an automated dialer. It didn't matter if I answered the phone, or called back the number they left, they never answered the phone. I left multiple messages for them, but never reached a human, even when I called a different number I found on their website. They never said who they were trying to reach at my number or why they were calling. Now, as someone trying to collect a debt, why would you hire a company too understaffed to talk to the people they are trying to collect from? Not to mention they were calling the wrong number the whole time. The only way I was able to reach a human to make them realize they had the wrong number was by using whois to find a number associated with the registration of their domain name. Otherwise they would have called my number forever and never collected the debt they are charging you to recover. Do they expect the people who owe money to go to such extreme and creative methods to find them? This company is incompetent, understaffed, and just plain evil.
On Sept. 18th 2017
A rude and combative representative from this company called my residence and asked me if I knew one of two people. I did not confirm nor deny my familiarity with one of the names this person inquired about and instead asked what this was in regards to. She asked "Do you know them or not." This went on for quite a while. I spoke to her manager whose attitude explained the original callers bad behavior. At the end of this call he was now only rude and indigent he was speaking to me as if I had something to do with whatever they were trying to collect. Remember, I was listed as a reference according to them and I have nothing to do with the person who allegedly listed me as a reference. The manager, freely gave me his employees first and last name indirectly dared me to file a complaint. What recourse does a bystander have against this type of harassment. How can this type of bad behavior be legal. It is clear from the representative and the managers behavior that this type of treatment is a norm and not only tolerated but, in my opinion, encouraged. What rights does a bystander have against such terrible people.
Advise smb!
Enhanced Recovery Corporation has been continuously calling my house for me, for people that don't even live at my house after I sent them a Cease and Desist Letter. I taped the voicemails left on my machine for proof. I would like to collect the $1,000 for each offense but don't know how to go about this without having to payout any money. They don't even say what the debt is for.
how quick you are to criticize people who were turned over to collections for not paying credit card bills. most people do not choose to be in debt things happen like major illnesses which can cause people to be out of work and get behind it happens alot and could even happen to you. yes there are just plain losers out there who just don;t give a crap and need to be held accountable but calling people and talking to them like they are dirt is not right.
Wow Jack, do you just have a forum response that you post? Not only did the complaintant mention that they were not the one the incured the debt but they also mentioned that the company admits that they were not the one who incured the debt but a reference. Also the complaintant never mentioned anything about being the customer of the service in question. So nothing in you comment actually applies to the complaint at hand. Also I hope that you do not treat the individuals that you contact in the same manner as you treat complaintents here, or else those individuals have a good claim against you for violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
This company continues to call my house (every 2 to 3 weeks) about a woman who has a similar sounding first name and lives in the same town. She has a different birthdate, address other than the town. I've called the number they leave on a message every time and have given up talking to the computer to have the number removed. I've started talking to a human to have it removed. Each time, I'm told, "this location just got the account, but we'll be glad to remove the number." I've asked them to please leave a note in the account about it which they've said that they've done However it continues month, after month, after month.
It has to be illegal for a company to use voice mail in the way this company does. Your phone rings, there is a long silence on the line, just about when you are ready to hang up they come on with a recorded message. Giving instructions on what you must do. There is no time for you to actually collect the information they are giving unless you are sitting there with pencil and paper in hand. I don't think this is a genuine attempt to contact a debtor but rather a attempt to harass. There is no information given as to who they represent but rather its a important business matter. Maybe important to them, but not to me.
Yes ERC either by default or intentionally they are ignorance or arrogance. They act like law enforcment and bark to intemidate you. If you ask me they are there to collect certain percentage of any amount without any regard to the facts at any cost. That is how they make their living.
Any one who have a legitmate problem please report them to FTC.
Sounds like Jack not only works for a collection agency but he is also perfect, imagine that!
Ok Wilma...let's talk about grammar first. Ok “d'ont” isn't a word. When putting the words "professional" and "debtor" together that makes “Professional Debtor“..definition: YOU! You need to get off your high horse and stop talking down to people to make yourself feel better, it's shameful. Now Wilma when you called ERC you probably had this same attitude and of course like any other human being, does not like being treated like this, including bill collectors. You are the reason we look bad because you call us being irate and what do you expect as a reaction from your behavior from again another human being? Wilma..look..as you can clearly see they definitely were not apologizing to you or any one of these "professional debtors"! Loose the attitude and you just might have positive results in your horrible excuse for human existence you call your life.
As a former employee of Enhanced Recovery Corporation, and also as somewhat of an expert regarding every collections State Law applicable to North America, I'll have you know that most of the "research" tips you give on the Complaints Board is completely false. The reason that the fines for breaking any of the state laws are so steep is because every employee there has been trained not to break them. Every phone call is completely legal, every word we say is part of a strict guide, and every rebuttal is completely within the guidelines of the FDCPA laws (since you don't accurately complete your research, I'll just let you know that that stands for the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.) You can look that up.
As for the "unjust" phone calls that have repeatedly been deemed "harassing" are also completely legit. After three months of ignoring your Credit Card statements (which are actually a luxury, not required by law and should be accepted as such) and the proceeding three months that ERC holds rights to these accounts, I do believe that these "victims" have had plenty of time to come to terms with the reality of how bills work. You take someone's money, then cry when this person after six months asks for their money back? Not to mention that all of the collection steps are clearly stated on the Credit Card application that these innocent people are so eager to sign. My suggestion: If you don't readily have $10, 000, don't accept a credit card claiming you can pay someone that amount of money. Is that not common sense?
The term "Cold Call" is laughable at best, considering that all of the information given to us by Discover, MasterCard, Visa and American Express (Can you guess where this is going?) is given to us by *gasp* The Card holder. When you fill out that attractive piece of paper that gives you all this free money, you have to supply your Name, Social, Address, ect. We are not magical. We do not ask you for your Social for our pleasure, we verify it. And I literally laughed out loud when I read your advice on pretending to be said card holder to obtain information. Well isn't that just the pot calling the kettle black? You see Nick, in America, that's called fraud. Also you cannot record our phone calls unless you have asked our permission. There is no exception to this. We only record our phone calls because we include a declaimer informing you of our intent and purpose for calling, which is given in every call. (Much like you'll hear, should you call your cell phone provider or local bank.)
So, just to educate you Mr. Bleeker, as a former collections agent we do not wake up in the morning with a mental list of all the people that we want to make cry on our telephones. We do not enjoy being called names, being lied to or being evaded. We have families and lives and feelings and we also pay our bills on time. We are not in the wrong. Personally, I have spoken with many people who have simply fallen on hard times and could not foresee what was going to happen. In which case I pull as many strings as I can find to get these people a low settlement (which is not an option by the way, with their CCD provider) If any of the people on this Complaint Board had called this company and rationally explained their situation with intent to pay (Not to mention if they had simply paid their bills in the first place) nine times out of ten they would have walked away paying MUCH less than they owed. This to me sounds like a huge favor our company is doing for them. And just to be clear, when life gets tough, you still have rent to pay and your children are still hungry. Delinquent card holders expect bills to take a few months off. Now where was the small writing on the application that said THAT would happen? Right next to the small writing that said life was going to be easy? I thought so.
Why such rudeness?
Years ago I had a Spiegel credit card... And like most women I used it! However, I was in a dispute with them at some point for fraudulent charges... after some time and a never ending battle... the communication stopped... I had yet to hear back from Spiegel. Turns out Spiegel filed for Bankruptcy. After a couple years I forgot all about it... no...

These guys called me and left a message with one of my children claiming that they were returning my call (untrue) and needed to speak with me right away about some information I had requested (untrue). I called and spoke with a gentleman who claimed I owed over $600 to a company called Performance Auto and now Genesis Financial, neither of whom I have ever heard of. The guy at ERC claimed that I bought some motorcycle parts from these guys. I do not have a motorcycle and do not do my own auto repairs. The guy at ERC called in a supervisor. The supervisor could not have been ruder. He tells me to go look on my credit report or pay up. I offered to call Performance Auto or Genesis Financial to find out what this “charge” was but the supervisor told me that he would not give me their contact info and would not find out what the charges were for. He told me to pay or look on my credit report. So I checked all three of my credit reports and they all matched up. There were no accounts that were late or had any issues. I called ERC back and again was put in touch with a different, but just as rude, supervisor. I explained that I am interested in resolving this issue but that I was not going to pay ERC unless I knew what the charges were for. The supervisor old me that I could either pay the amount owed or they would continue to call my home until I did pay. It sounded like a sweat shop in the background with all kinds of people in three foot cubicles harassing people and extorting them for money. These guys are unbelievable and are the reason the collections industry has such a poor name.
Collection for AT&T. My bills were paid to them I even have a refund card they sent me where I overpaid by a couple of dollars. They took trade in cell phones and did not all ow me credit for them. I paid full price for the phones and cancelled the service. When billed for phone and tv service both were paid !
ERC has put
Continued harrassment over a debt not mine. Placing said derogatory on Trans Union Credit Report. Please provide as much information as possible about the debt you claim is mine.
ERC has repeated been told this is not my debt. I am now asking for written proof of the debt you are trying to collect
Account N0. 20595*** Creditor II AT T U VERSE,
Called Comcast to verify outstanding charges. They claimed there are no outstanding charges under my account.
to the guy before..most collection agencies are not debt purchacesers but are simply hired by the client to collect on the debt..just a little info
i have a 12 year old child. i got him a phone you he could reach me while at his other parents house as they have no phone. i have gotten him a new number twice now because of all the calls from this company want to reach about a dozen different people to pay a debt! i did find the company' s phone number and told them each time that person never had this number and they were calling a child. it keeps happening. how can this many people in debt have had my child's phone number when they accured the debt? i had his numbers on the don't cll list from day one. also- i have NO unpaid bills! and have never had over 30 days late in my life! 30 was my biggest oversight EVER.
We were getting calls from a California based company attempting to collect a debt from a non-existent person. I say non-existent because the "debtor" sought has my husband's first name and my previous last name. There is no debt in that name. Neither of us have any outstanding debt that is not paid on time and have not had anything go to collections. That company finally stopped calling, only to be replaced by ERC. Maybe some of their attempts at collections are legitimate but I believe that they are hoping that whoever they call will believe they forgot to pay something and will just send them the money to get off their back. I can ignore the calls and delete the messages forever. I am not paying anyone money that is not owed.
People who don't pay bills should be put in bonded servitude until they pay off their debt. Bet that would fix some stuff.
This is to the "BILL COLLECTOR" that previously posted about not wanting to transfer bad habits to their children. First off, bad money management is not hereditary, and second, niether is smoking. I do understand that you are just doing a job like everyone else has to do. But i fail to see why you think that I owe you a dime? I signed a contract with company X, i had a hardship, yes like most of these people who let their bills slip. I know, I know it is hard for you to believe because society is just a matter of the NOW and not what happened in the past, you have blindfolds on, and think that because you have a job, that everyone you are calling has a job or is in the position to pay. So anyway, i failed to meet company X's contract and defualted. Company X then tries to send a few letters to collect to no avail. Then they put that debt in a portfolio of debts, and sell it to the highest bidder. The average debt is bought for 5.4 cents on the dollar. In my opinion, company X has charged off this debt, and has considered it uncollectable. They get a tax right off, and collect some money back from Company Y. ( debt collectors). Now, this is my issue. You think that you are now entitled to the full amount that i owed to company X, which you only paid 5.4 cents on the dollar for. So let's say i owe the original creditor 400.00, you paid 74 dollars for that debt on the assumption of the average. That would mean you got a profit of 326.00. I will pay you what you paid for it, plus applicable interest since the date you started to collect. That means from the time the first call you placed to me, regardless if i answered the phone or not. Which i think is being more then fair. In my state, you can only collect 6% interest.
It is debt collectors like you, who think you are better then the rest. It is collectors like you, who don't see the full scheme. It is debt collectors like you, that have no ability to see what is really going on, because you only want to see your paycheck. You probably think it is ok for big comapnies to profit from the war in Iraq, Now that i think about it, You're probably a republican! The debt collection industry is set up to collect as much debt as possible. The industry has gone to great lengths to teach the collector how to collect a debt. One of those techniques is to disassociate yourself from there problems. There teachings help shape and mold people who don't care, and only think about getting the money by whatever means necessary. The problem with society is people like you. Everyone is only looking out for themselves, and screw the others. Now i am looking out for myself and screw you. Sorry if you can't understand that, sorry if you don't except that. But that's as true as the debt i owe. If i can pay what i owe i would. But the problem with collectors is, they think everyone just decided to get a loan, Credit Card, or any other type of debt that was sent to the comaany and not pay it. You automatically assume that they did it on purpose to get something for nothing. You probably think that EVERY person who owes child support did it on purpose.
Your post clearly shows a one sided point of veiw on which no basic facts are presented. It's all assumptions. And, glad to see that you smoke around your children, and teach them that smoking is ok. I am also proud that you teach them to manage there money well, because they are going to need it for all of the hospital bills and chemo therapy from smoking like you do.!
I too have been the recipient of ERC calls. They have been told..including the supervisor that "Corrine" doesnt live here..never has lived here and we've never known anyone in our entire lives with that name. We paid cash for our house and our cars..we owe nothing to anyone and have a credit score at the top of perfect. Every morning at 8:05 they call anyway. So I decided that we'd have a little fun... this is currently on going. We told them "Corrine" doesnt want to talk to them. We've refused to take a message. Last call we told them "Corrine" got a really good deal so she and a couple girlfriends went to the Bahamas for a week. When they call back in a couple of days, they will be told she couldnt get a flight into Miami and went to Orlando instead and decided to spend a couple extra days there and see DisneyWorld but has to be home by (date to be determined) to pick up her new car. Not my fault they are stupid after we've given them our name...address and obviously they have our phone number. Have yet to speak to anyone from ERC that isnt as dumb as a box of rocks!
Send them a cease and desist in the mail. Keep a copy. If they call again, sue them.
