On December 15th, we answered an ad which had been placed online by Emerald Management. Initially, we were interested in a property in [specific location] for which we applied and paid an application fee of $60 each. Emerald Management contacted us about the initial property that we had applied to rent and informed us that it had been taken. They promised to refund our application fee and apologized for the inconvenience. However, instead of refunding our money, they coerced us into applying for a different property in Sugar Hill. They convinced us that our chances of being approved were good.
Today, on January 3rd, 2023, I contacted Emerald Management by phone and spoke to [specific person]. They informed me that the second property on [specific address] had also been taken before we had even agreed to relinquish our application fee towards the property. Our intuition told us to walk away from the initial property after Emerald Management agreed to refund our $60 application fee per person, which was between myself and [specific person]. We feel deceived by Emerald Management and [specific person]. At this point, we are demanding a $120 refund.
