Very unhappy about the consultation
I had a consultation with Dr. Gray for liposuction that was awful. They first have you watch a video of him discussing the surgeries that is way too long, about an hour. I understand he wants you to be informed but it could have been more concise. I started losing interest. When it was finally time for my consult with him, he spoke in circles about everything that was in the video. He went on to talk about things that were not relevant to my surgery. He talked about how patients get too much fluid while hospitalized and talking about bariatric surgery (not for me) but topics that did not pertain to me. It was daunting. After the consult, I was put into a room to discuss pricing. The lady was very nice. The whole process was about 2 and half hours-way too long. He is not board certified. I will not more forward with him.
Facelift
I would not recommend this make shift operation. Not board certified, and think your having surgery and it's not a hospital. I paid over $8000 for a mini facelift, liposuction under my chin. I know have bumps and was not told to massage the area, which I read needs to happen. When I went in for recheck he was trying to sell me on another procedure to correct the issue. In addition, the initial consult I waited three hours and was asked if they could just send a quote without him even seeing me. That should have told me right there how this was going to go. After the surgery I went back because I thought I was infected, and waited over an hour in a room, in which the girl (which was also rude) put me in and didn't say a thing. Thinking is all over the place with analogies that are ridiculous. Do your research, and go to someone who is all there, and your not a number.
Horrible negligence bad surgery procedure lumps everywhere multiple health issues weight loss
Ever since I got the surgery Dr. Gray failed to tell me how to use the bathroom what not to take with certain medication‘s what to do basically all together i've been in the ER for over two years lost 30 pounds look worse than when I came into his office now battling with digestive disease as well as possibly autoimmune. I think this is the biggest joke the fact that this office is still open and he is ruining peoples bodies and their lives who the [censored] allowed this old chode to pretend he is board certified?
Desired outcome: shut down this horrible practice youre making everyone sick
when I was 19 years olds , I had received a fat transfer from Michael gray cosmetic surgeon in west Bloomfield township, MI. , I did not know he was not board certified even though he claims he is. I was well underweight to have the surgery, he did not turn me down and did not tell me how to do anything after the surgery. How to use the bathroom, if I need to be active, neglected to tell me anything what do ever , therefore resulting in me being in the ER with nausea, constipation, dry heaving, pain and fat necrosis that is painful and has been here for years now and isn’t going away. I was bedridden in the ER for almost 3 years, in and out every week, got H. pylori , turned into ulcer, now have LUPUS SLE auto immune, Currently dealing with Many health issues after this surgery, and overloaded with medical bills but just want to get my story and complaint out there because he cannot keep doing this to other women. I feel I will never be as healthy or energetic as I used to prior to surgery. I was healthy ,now I am barely 100 pounds ,not able to gain weight , I just don’t want him to keep doing this to more people and I wish for him to be out of business.

Breast augmentation
Do not let him operate on you. Go to dr. Wolf!... I went in for a breast augmentation 5k, was lied to! He talked so fast, and didn't take his time. I was told I also needed a lift another $ 5k (wish I would have known he's not board certified plastic surgeon in michigan) was told 365ccs was what would be put in.. Woke up, alone, pants pulled down past my [censored], to I dont even know who (I think was lady from front desk secretary who knows), running in room where I was just left after coming to and immediately freaking out pulling my pants up, to obviously not in right state of mind two people basically lifted me off table, tossed me to my bestfriend and child's father and off I was placed in vehicle. I was just another guinea pig for him. I addressed my issue on follow up... He said they are still swollen and recommended to buy their expensive scar guard, however "I shouldn't need it once swelling goes down"... I address that I felt stitches on my right side of right breast either wasn't done correctly or stitches busted... He says "no, no, no its perfect"... Um mm I have a $10k botch job... Horrible, horrible scars and with still sooooo much extra skin. Not to mention I have air pockets everywhere... I went to see several dr. To fix this nightmare just for them all to say he only put 265cc (supposed to be 365cc, which he said was max I could get hmm then why the lift?)...10k botch job! Not to mention his free "consultations" sounded like he has said that same script for years, which should have been red flags every where... However I was naive because he was and still is known as the "best" according to 9.55 radio station! Worst decision in my life, hes supposed to make you feel and look more confident and sexy... False advertising... My breasts look like they were in a meat grinder.
Hour glass tummy tuck
Never was Warned I wouldn't have a belly button, he throws it away unlike all other docs that sew it back in. He then makes a stick that indents to look like a fake bb that does not work, had 3 revisions none worked and there are hundreds of complaints of this. I also had to go to wound care doc and had skin turn black and die he was very mad I went there...
Read full review of Dr. Michael GrayHigh Grade Capsular Contracture Corrective Surgery
Dr. Gray performed surgery via the bellybutton to correct the high grade capsular contracture of my right breast. He assured me that this was an effective way to correct the problem. Two days post op I was in severe pain and had unusual swelling of my right breast. I contacted his office where they told me it was impossible to be infected after two days. They instructed me to keep taking the pain medication. I returned to his office 1 week post op. I was in more pain and more swollen and he insisted I was not infected. I cried thru the entire appointment and he gave me more pain medication and let me leave. I called another surgeon who told me I needed to be seen immediately. At my first visit he informed me of the correct way to perform the procedure I needed. The way mine was done is not approved nor is it capable of correcting the problem. The new surgeon continued to treat me for the next five months. I was severely infected and at risk of it spreading throughout my body. The surgeon could not risk going back in for fear of more infection. I remained on antibiotics for five months. I still have severe pain in my right breast. I am unable to do basic things like pick up my children, drive with my right arm, or turn my body for certain positions. I have retained an attorney, but Dr. Gray has failed to respond to both of the lawsuit notifications. At this time I feel that he is more then responsible for the damages he has caused me as a result of his negligence. Upon investigation of Dr. Gray I have come to find that I am one of many people he has injured. I believe an investigation into his surgical practices is in order.
Customer service
He did breast implant which was fine. Went back for consultation on other things. Waited over an hour in waiting room on 3 separate occasions, then almost an hour in room. He's not what the video shows in the waiting room. He's rude, scattered and so fast talking you cannot understand what he's saying. The video out front shows him in a suit in his office talking with his patients, that's not at all how he was the 4 times I saw him. He yawns and appears bored to be with you. I don't feel I can trust someone who seems to be 2 totally different people. Going somewhere else because of my gut feeling.
Severe allergic reactions, vision problems, eye infection
Here are some of the problems I have faced during the two-week- period:
1) Placing too much product in the wrong place under my eyes was the caused of a severe allergic reaction, vision problems, eye pressure, eye infection, lumps, headaches, and swelling, associated more with the injection technique, rather than the product.
2) Placing the filler without paying attention to the areas that needed to be treated the most, such as on cheeks and marionette lines.
3) Placing Restylane and Voluma in the wrong areas under my eyes and on my cheeks, changed the shape of my face and I don't like it. My eyes are still puffy and with lumps, and my cheeks look fat and asymmetric instead of defined, which make me believe that Voluma was not placed in the proper areas on the cheeks for natural results.
It is important to consider the amount of money and time I have spent with dermatologist, ophthalmologist, and in medicine. Just to mention some of the medication I have been taking:
-MethylPREDNISolone tablets
- Tobramycin/Dexamethasone (antibiotic for treating eye infection).
-Istalol/Timolol (to reduce high pressure inside the eye).
Stop the complaints, he's great
So he talks fast? That doesn't mean he isn't a great doctor and cosmetic surgeon. I often judge a doctor’s office by their staff – first impressions and last impressions. These folks are knowledgeable. I have had some work by other types of surgeons, and understand they are fast talking, busy people. So I rely on their support staff to answer questions about process and payment. Dr. Gray’s office staff was helpful and professional . Dr. Gray also called me to make sure my surgical outcome was fine too.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I was also a patient of So called Dr. Gray. He was awful and so was all his staff but 1 nurse. If something goes wrong he turns things around to try to blame you. Saying I didn't follow all his directions, really? Did he come home with me to see that? His hour glass tummy tuck is awful unless you want a scar going almost all around your body. He don't know how to make a belly button. He is very rude, extremely argumentative, and unprofessional. I wish I would have looked at reviews before choosing him as my Dr.
I had a horrible scar on my wrist and Dr. Gray was able to have it completely removed. It's invisible now thanks to his Therascar.
Dr. Gray is the top surgeon in Michigan. Many of these comments below are of a personal nature. It leads me to believe that his competition is posting these. His office is packed every day of the week and many of these patients are repeats. What does that tell you?
His competition are not the ones posting complaints. They are real people with bad results
Terrible service!
Please note the following correction: Dr. Michael Gray is a Fellow with the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgeons (I did a search at www.cosmeticsurgery.org) but he is not listed with the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery in Michigan, which is where he practices. (www.americanboardcosmeticsurgery.org) I apologize for the error, however, this does not erase the fact that I am still dissatisfied with my results and plan to send a letter to Dr. Gray in regards to such.

I’m sorry to hear about all the issues everyone has had . I am looking to have a tummy tuck as well but I want someone board certified. These complaints goes back to 2010 how is he still chopping people up? He had a entire group on Facebook I seen the pics of their sling turning black over n over again . He have them buy something called honeymed he sells to patients sick he should be providing care. Many women have said they incision busted that’s 5 to many . Somebody needs to shut him down. Sad I’m praying for all of u who went this .
Do NOT let him operate on you. Go to Dr. Wolf!...I went in for a breast augmentation 5k, was lied to..told I also needed a lift another 5k(wish I would have known he's not board certified PLASTIC surgeon in Michigan) was told 365CCs was what would be put in..woke up, ALONE, PANTS PULLED DOWN PAST MY [censored], TO A BOTCH JOB OF HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SCARS. I was left with dying skin in my incision, he was very addicted when I made an apt with a wound care doctor and they said he didn't want to reported. He also cuts out your old belly button and discards it and makes you a fake one by tie down button method to your muscles. Then the stick pops and poof no belly button. I had 3 revisions and never could get one to work . He said bigger and richer people have had no luck in court so good luck
Very sad that this number of comments go back to 2009 and this man is still in biz as usual.
Why no one has posted pictures. I paid for surgery that I will have on March 27 and tried to cancel 2.5 weeks and they want to charge me -50 % for cancelations fees I don't have any contract with me, now I'm scared to get screwed. Someone please help
I had the hourglass tummy tuck, which looked great. When it was time to do the minor belly button revision, I had a complication. Contrary to what people have said, both Dr. Gray and his staff were very concerned, and made sure the complication was taken care of. BTW, complications can happen when neither the surgeon nor patient has done anything wrong; sometimes they just happen. When they do, you want people like Dr. Gray and his staff, who called me at home to check on my progress, etc., to do what they can to fix the problem. It has now been a few months, the complication has cleared up, and I'm about to have the small repercussions fixed. I'll let you know, but I'm betting that I'll be very happy with the end result. If I were going to be unreasonable, and decide that every complication is the surgeon's fault, then I could whine like many of the others who've posted here. But the data show that small complications happen, however rarely, and you just want to make sure you've picked a surgeon who can handle any complication that appears, and eventually give you the result you were going for in the first place.
How did it turn out I had 3 bb revisions with him, .none took or lasted more than a weeks he said I didn't have enough fat to pin my belly button down where it kept pulling out
My daughter and I went to see Dr. Grey for advice on skin tightening and rid of wrinkles. Yes, this man came into the room and Talked as if he was reading a script 100 miles an hour. In the middle of his speall he looked up at me and said " you are very much in need of a face lift". Then proceeded on. I was kinda flabbergasted . I know I was there for that reason but, I think there is a more tactful way to say things. He lacks bed side manner and reminds me of a robot. I didn't get that warm and fuzzy feeling so I went elsewhere.
Don't go to Dr. Gray. I had high grade capsular contracture on one breast from old implants. I went to him to correct the problem. He went thru the bellybutton, which I found out is no an approved way to correct the problem. I was immediately infected one day post op. His staff told me that it was impossible. I came in for my one week check up in tears and I swear he was high. I have a masters in criminal justice and am a certified drug addiction counselor. I went to Dr Freedlands office 2 weeks post op. He told me that everything about my procedure was done wrong. As a result of his negligence I was infected for 5 months and on antibiotics. It has been 15 months since my surgery and I am still unable to do basic things like drive, move to the left, or pick up my children. I have tearing behind my breast almost every day. Please do not give this man any more opportunities to ruin people's lives.
I have had similar problems and have consulted attorneys. I plan on not only filing a complaint very soon, but filing a complaint with the state of Michigan. I had a similar conversion regarding scar revision therapy with a new surgeon. What Dr. Gray does is very negligent. It would be very helpful to have this testimony in my case. Please contact me at tennistari@hotmail.com
Dr. Gray (in my opinion) is on medication which makes him a danger to his patients. For the good of many potential victims, we need to do something about this!
I will never go back to Dr Graey. He is very creepy. He spoke a mile a minute and was very nervous. His eyes were red. Then I found out he is not board certified. He is all about money and tells you he does not care about money. BS he does. The girls were arrogant.
Despite all the negative comments I read online, I still chose to go to Dr. Gray. I am 1week post op and so far love everything he did. As far as the staff, I didn't feel they rude at all and was given plenty of information to take home about the procedure. I did feel they should of supplied the garments but that is my only complaint.
Liposuction on upper arms
Very dissatisfied with liposuction/smart lipo on upper arms. They are still the same circumference almost a year later. I experienced no skin tightening as promised by the advertisements for Smart Lipo, my arms are stil just as big, but now they look worse because the fullness has been reduced but the circumference is the same. I still can't fit my arms into shirts that fit me elsewhere, and my upper arms look like soft balloons when they are relaxed at my side. He said he looks at results based on the arms being held outward, but who walks around with their arms outstretched? Also, when I told him they were the same circumference, he said he never said they would be smaller, only that the fat would be reduced by 50-75%. Tell me, why would I undergo liposuction if it wouldn't make the area smaller? I was very specific about why I wanted the lipo done (size reduction) and at my consult he never said I shouldn't expect that. Plus, he's a really nice man when you first meet him, and if you are pleased with your results he's probably even nicer, but as soon as you make it clear you are not satisfied he gets very difficult to talk to and he will try to sell you additional procedures (Thermage or some laser procedure) to "enhance" the results. He gets rude and impatient. He has shown no interest in appeasing me, or in my obvious dissatisfaction, or even in my well-being as I am upset to have spent so much money and now I can't even wear tank tops without embarrassment. My arms look awful and he doesn't even care. He is only interested in himself and his ego. He had a MySpace page where he listed himself as his hero, but I mentioned how pornographic it was on another board and, lo and behold, I can't find him on MySpace anymore! He should be ashamed of himself. He's a doctor, not board certified in Plastic Surgery or Cosmetic Surgery, but a DO who does cosmetic surgery. He advertises himself all over the place and it seems everyone is so happy with his results, but if you look at www.doctorscorecard.com you'll see the other side of him.
Please, when having any surgery, do your homework. For cosmetics results, only go to Board Certified Surgeons. You would not go to a foot doctor to remove s tooth. I have seen very bad work done by dr's want to be.
I had a scar from where my ex used to smuggle heroin inside my body through the airport. Dr. Gray turned it into a nice pouch to store my metrocard in. Dr. Gray is very nice, and he makes nice treats to eat because he is also a pastry chef.
Dr, Gray has done my mother, and sisters surgery with excellent results. The woman above is upset that she was tols as my sister was that the skin tightening IS unpredictable and he recommends surgical excision if you want to definitely see results. She is just pissed that she made the wrong choice
I don't know this Dr but I know from experience that if you want cosmetic surgery PLEASE only go to a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. It may cost more initally but in the long run you will save dollars and tears by seeing someone qualified.
Thanks for those comments, plz people never stop writing. This helps
the guy is a pig! i wouldnt let him touch my dog! i know for a FACT that he has his employees write in to sites to make him look good. sooooo sad
carrie probably work for him :)
well smart lipo is a gimmick.. it does not really work... It intends to work only a very small area less than 500 cc... this is according to the manufacture of the equipment (cynosure ).. if you go online, you will see so many complaints about smart lipo. Smart lipo is pretty dumb itself... it s a sell gimmick and many people fall for it because they dont know any better
Opps, I meant to say "ARMS" not "lips"
My mom had lipo in her lips and under arm area and had great results. I had a hacked boob job from another doctor and Dr. Michael Gray fixed them. They are beautiful. He also fixed my acne scarring on my face that other doctors couldn't fix. If you look online, almost any doctor is going to have compliants. However, Dr. Gray performs surgery 3 days a week and with so many operations, of course you are going to see more compliants than another doctor who only does surgeries one day a week.
Tip: I picked my first boob doctor because he was nice and took the time with me. Was he experienced, yes, but only did surgery one day a week. In fact when I had issues with mine, he told me he couldn't fix them. Dr Gray redid them and had to sew muscle back to my breast bone. He knew exactly what needed to be done and make them look very real. I don't trust any other dr other than Dr Gray.
