I purchased Congoleum Duraceramic flooring almost four years ago, and have been haggling with the retailer and the manufacturer for the past eighteen months. Within the first six months after installation, we noticed white areas where it appeared that the surface was wearing off. The company insisted that it was normal wear and tear, and I eventually contacted Congoleum directly, and they sent out an inspector who took photos, and two weeks later we were told that the white areas were caused by sliding our kitchen chairs back and forth on the floor. Of course, they knew it was kitchen flooring when we purchased it, but no one told us we could not put a table and chairs on it because it would not hold up. It is really a shame because we liked the way it looked, but is was fairly expensive and obviously does not meet the wear and tear standards of real ceramic tile, which is their biggest claim. To make matters worst, the company does not back their product and finds all kinds of ways around the warranty. Our flooring has since been discontinued, and I am sure that is because other people are having the same problem. We can't even find replacement tiles to fix the problem. Do not buy this product it is worthless!

I very much regret having Duraceramic installed. It does NOT stand up to normal wear. The color coating chips almost immediately. Our kitchen floor, in certain areas, looks like it's been splattered with white paint. Congoleum's claims about the product are simply false. Worst purchase I've ever made. If we decide to sell our home, this product will either have to be replaced or we take a hit on our price. In the meantime, it's an embarrassment when we have guests. I HATE this product—shame on Congoleum.

I've had DuraCeramic installed in a mud room and 1/2 bath for over 5 years now and have not had a single issue. It has been a great product and held up very well.

We've run into the same problems. We actually had inspector come out and tell us that we must've dropped dishes on floor, which even if that happens it was one of the benefits of duraceramic, that it handles well and resists chipping. We have duraceramic in a downstairs bath and laundry, and kitchen. Floor chipped in the bathroom and laundry room as well, and then we were told by inspector that our cleaning head on the floor cleaner was too harsh. Its a shark cleaner with a cloth head that agitates on floor. Just similar to a swiffer! Really? I guess I could try a feather duster! Found out the inspector they sent to us retired from Congoleum and now uses him to inspect claims.
Well how convenient!

Purchased our Dura Ceremic 16" flooring for our newly remodeled home and installed in the Kitchen, Dining, and Utility rooms.
Over the years, beginning in the second year (2010), we have called the Company from whom we purchased the flooring to complain about the
poor quality of the finish, the chipping (about 20 of them) spots; and scratches (about 25 of them) in the surface; and the dirt spotting in these
imperfection areas. Each time we complained to the Store/CCompany they told us two things; 1)that was normal wear and tear of the floor and,
2)since we installed the flooring ourselves there was no warranty. The contractor and I both installed this floor according to specs provided by
the Congoleum Company for Dura Ceremic floors. (I did not enlicit the installation services of our local store and saved lots of money by getting
my own installer.) The store locally thru which we purchased our Dura Ceremic flooring is The Floor Show, 1475 Associates Dr, Dubuque, Iowa.
I feel that the company needs to stand behind their product and offer compensation for defective product.

We too have also been arguing with the retailer and manufacturer for the last 2 years. The floor has about 50 "chips" out of t he tiles all over. The manufacturers "inspector" says it was impact wear/damage, yet some of the chips are underneath the overhang of the lower cabinets. I will never buy a Mohawk product again.

I have also been arguing with the retailer and manufacturer for the last 2 years. Two weeks after the floor was put down, several "chips" appeared in one corner. I was told to get some nail polish and paint those areas because they would fill with dirt. Seriously?! Since then, I have about 30 little chips out of the tiles all over the floor and one big chip by the stove. Every time I wash the floor, I find another chip. The manufacturer is saying it is impact wear/damage. In other words, from people walking on the floor. No one in here wears heels and there are no animals. In fact, most of the time I am the only one here. Congoleum's people came out with all their fancy equipment and cameras and that was their conclusion. Also, the grout is all cracked and they are blaming that on the humidity in the house although I do not run a dehumidifier or a humidifier. I live in Columbus, Ohio where we simply have 4 regular seasons. Congoleum does not back up their product and what good is a floor if you can't walk on it? I had a regular vinyl floor down for 20 years and had no issue at all. I just wanted to update the kitchen. This was quite expensive and I wish I had done regular ceramic. I will never buy from Mohawk/Congoleum EVER again.

Yes - I have the same complaint. Actually, the tile wears out not only near the chair legs, but also in the more trafficked areas such as next to the sink, etc. And the appraiser Congoleum arranges to come is a total tool - first tells you that he clearly sees the material wearing out, then 2 weeks later you get a letter telling your complaint is unjustified and the white spots result from "abrasion".

The product is actually worse than stated in the complain... just drop a spoon and the thin vinyl will puncture
The only way is to take legal action; I'm doing just that if they don't replace it.
