I recently received my certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant from my college located in Munster Indiana. While doing a search for externships I came across Concentra. Their website stated that if you are fresh out of college and looking to gain the experience needed to start your career, consider their externship program. I looked through their job posting and saw they had positions open in Hammond and Gary Indiana. I applied via Indeed and on the company website. My definition of an externship is pretty close to what the website said but I thought it was an unpaid position for training purposes. I did my clinicals and was completing my externship at a cardiologist clinic associated with Community Healthcare. Let me make this clear, at the writing of this complaint I am done with my externship. Externship is the word your company used. Apparently your management team’s definition is the same as mine. I wanted more experience in doing labs and phlebotomy because the cardiologist clinic doesn’t do lab work. I really want to know why with all my training and the education I sought to better myself, why was my application denied? It’s clear to me what the Gary location believed but when I applied to Hammond and called them at the encouragement of your employees I never received a call, email or text. Your company was my first choice because I had services done at the locations. The word externship is what sealed my mind on your company. I just want to know what I did wrong that I wasn’t considered with my qualifications? I was hoping to get hired. At the time I applied I needed 27 hours of externship and I did those hours in 3 days. I applied on Indeed and the company website I attached my NHA, CPR, AED, First Aid certifications and my resume/cover letter. After not hearing anything I spoke to the Gary location who told me that they don’t do externships because they don’t have a contract with my school. That statement proves that my definition and her’s are the same but it didn’t matter because I really wanted that job. I never received a return call nor email from the Hammond location. I checked Indeed and saw almost two weeks later that the positions were still Nothing on the website. The Gary said a contract with a college was necessary for the externship. Your reps encouraged me to call. They gave me the names and numbers. Your company was my first choice and you let me down. I just wanted a job to support my family and I’m very disappointed. Can someone please send this email to the right person who can answer these questions for me? Can someone give me a call so that I can better understand your definition of externship and why after I applied that you have those positions still available. I just wanted to support my family. I wanted a job based on my skill’s and not based on a complaint. It’s very disappointing to be ignored and not considered because of a disconnect on definitions.

Desired outcome: Better understanding
