Power Home Remodeling power hrg — say 'no thank you'

If you just say 'No Thank You' to the nice guy dropped off in your neighborhood to sign you up for free estimates for new windows, you will not have to endure the experience my husband and I went through recently. Please note, after the fact we read the reviews for the company on various websites -- the bad reviews were very similar but I will take this one step further.

****The Sales person arrived at my house on time and was in my house OVER 6 HOURS!****

After a very impressive but LONG sales presentation we finally got the price which I thought was outrageous. We were provided a "sign right now" price and a "after he left, good for one year" price. We turned him down a few times and he kept coming back with discounts that he could apply to lower the "sign right now" price. The "after he left, good for one year" price was never discounted. We are 5 hours into the presentation, we've had no dinner and had to work the next morning -- this was ridiculous. There seemed to be no end in sight, we felt like he would not leave until we signed. Finally, he lowered the price (approx $1400) from original and said that was as low as he could go and he would be taking no commission on this deal. Apprehensively, we signed - which took another hour of paperwork. As he was getting ready to pack up and leave, he said to us "If you turn around and cancel this, I will feel like you stabbed me in the back -- I feel like we are friends now." We let this comment slide unnoticed and got him out the door.

****The Cancellation Process -- HOW EASY or SO IT SEEMED****
My husband and I woke up the next morning with a bad feeling about what happened the night before. The price wasn't great and there were a couple of product items we didn't like but could probably deal with at the right price BUT the comment the sales person last said to us was just not acceptable and the was 'the straw that broke the camel's back'. The paperwork included a 'Notice of Cancellation' -- you can cancel within 3 business days without penalty or obligation by signing the 'Notice of Cancellation' form and mailing to the home office in Chester PA -- so we cancelled. We received a call from a Power HRG representative the day the home office received our cancellation form and stated they needed to set up a time to send out someone because the paperwork did not contain the 'official cancellation form' and we needed to sign another form. The representative noticed my hesitation and stated "it was not a Sales Person coming, it was a Courier with the cancellation form - should only take 5 or 10 minutes." We agreed to a day and time.

On the day the Courier is scheduled and about 45 minutes prior to the scheduled time, I noticed a car slowly passing my house and the driver looking at my house (maybe the number on the mailbox). Then I see the same car pass again about a minute later -- I see this same car PASS MY HOUSE AT LEAST 7 TIMES in the 45 minutes prior to the scheduled time and then pull into my driveway on time. I could understand if you arrive early in the area and you want to do a drive-by to check where the house is, but that was ABSURD. Anyway, driver gets out an introduces himself -- NOT A COURIER as the representative from Power HRG indicated -- but a QUALITY ASSURANCE Rep from Power HRG. The intentional LIE of having another Power HRG rep at my house on top of the drive-bys that occurred really started to irritate me. The QA Rep asked to go inside and I stated 'No, Power HRG has taken up enough of our time. We have our pens in hand and are ready to sign the cancellation form. We were told this would only take 5-10 minutes." He stated had a survey to go through - he needed to ask us questions and note our replies. We should have said 'No Thank You'. but we told him all the issues we had and why we cancelled. The QA Rep apologized for everything and said he wanted to "make this right -- to offer us another "sign right now" price - a friends and family discount price." This "friends and family discount" price was $5900 lower than the original -- and this really made me mad. To go through that 6+ hour ordeal with the Sales rep and were told he couldn't go any lower and now have this QA rep take up more of my time (15 mins now) and then offer a much lower price -- I told him he needed to leave.

Thank you to all that have read this and proceed with EXTREME CAUTION if you see POWER HRG in your neighborhood. On the sunny side, if you're patient enough and want to endure this extremely long process, then cancel and wait for the QA rep -- you'll get a much better price.

Same. But only 3 hours. Financing price was $25K vs $11K ! Huge interest rate. For just 8 windows, about $3k/window if financed! Only 1 window actually needed replacement. All others can be simply re-glazed for a few hundred each.

Do not invite them in. Nice guys, but a significant scam. Get a local quote instead.

It’s 2023 and they did the SAME EXACT thing to me. Single mom with kids and I couldn’t get him to leave unless I signed (about 5,000 lower btw). I couldn’t sleep all night and was so sick to my stomach. I googled it in the morning and saw so many same comments and yours was literally the exact same. Thank you posting and today I am canceling.

Hey pal. I was the rep who was driving by your house. The only reason that happened is because I got to the neighborhood early and I was driving around talking on my phone. Is that really so hard to believe? You make it sound like it was something more.

Listen man, I’ve moved on and had a really successful career. Why don’t you take this down? You aren’t hurting me, I dont work there any more. You are just making it a little harder for young guys with a tough job doing in home sales make a living.

It’s not a crooked company at all, and there are a lot of great people who work there. I’m sorry if I upset you, I was young and learning to find my way in this world. Does it need to stay on the internet forever and hurt people who had nothing to do with it all?

10 years after the initial posy and you reply with a comment to take down their post? You really need to learn to move on. I probably would have never seen this person's complaint if it didn't have recent activity on it.

Wish this was here when I got suckered in over 13+ years ago. A whole house remodel scheme from a long Friday night pitch with a saleman turned into two replacement windows a few days later. I was strong-armed into getting them when I tried to cancel, ended up FINANCING IT THROUGH A CREDIT CARD WITH THEM, to which I later was in debt. Today they just came to my house for an estimate. When I realized who they were, I called them back IMMEDIATELY to cancel the visit. My time and money is too precious for me to waste on a bloated, high-pressure company using scare tactics to bully customers into buying anything, and is too busy tooting its horn instead of opting for true transparency with the customer. It is a shame because on the plus side, the windows aren't bad. But the experience was HORRIBLE. The take home message? BUY LOCAL and BUY FROM SMALL BUSINESS!

Had a female door-knocker from them come to my Detroit area home.

The old "We just finished a job and have leftover material" BS. Run for the HILLS whenever they say that!

It was cold out and I let her talk (but didn't let her in.) She noticed missing shingles (which IS True.) Also said if I agreed to let a second person come by it would be a no-pressure presentation. RIGHT. Like they always say about timeshare shpiels.

I not only said "NO" but went on my local Hood website on facebook to warn others-she knocked loudly four times (maybe that's their protocol.)

I already got two estimates from the local boys, and will get a third this Spring. I don't need a shady company out of Chester, PA.

If you are tempted to take a door knocker job, do the respectable thing and Starve instead.

Former Power HRG employee here. Worked for the company 2011. Was fired for underperformance after eight months (only time I’ve ever been fired in my life). Had a six-year track record of 60-70% sales success prior to and since.

Everything these posters highlight is absolutely true. The high-pressure pitches. The “discount” scams. The marketing “promos.” The refusal to take “no” for an answer. They take young, naive guys (mostly) and ladies (some) and have this charlatan approach ingrained in them. The “deals” are nothing but bold-faced lies. Co-CEO’s Asher Raphael and Corey Schiller are operators of the highest order. So are the regional office managers. Google online for “Power HRG Holiday Party” and you’ll see where your hard-earned money is going. Lavish pleasure cruises. Jordan Belfort would admire this bunch. Don’t believe the “Best Workplace” nonsense - it’s all from young employees eager to drive a Porsche like the company officers obtained on the backs of you and your vulnerable family.

I’m ashamed I ever worked at Power HRG. Was young and eager for a professional change. Bought the hiring spiel hook, line and sinker. Walking out of the office when they canned me, I never held my head higher. At least they couldn’t take my integrity away. I’m a firm believer in “buy nice or buy twice” and “you get what you pay for.” But there are good honest comisniee out there that offer quality with the pressure. Avoid these sellouts.

After reading the above complaints about this Company, I am glad I did not go to the end with the presentation. I have a lot of windows in my house on the first floor alone there are 13 windows in total. After about 2 hours the young man finally gave me the price of $$ 26, 000.00 buy right now price. I never buy under his conditions and I told him that I had a Business meeting call coming in at 3:30 PM. He came at 1:00 PM. He ignored me entirely at that point and kept on talking and talking. This got me upset as he was not respecting my time at all, and he kept on talking and I finally ask him to leave. Now he was upset and left me basically with a blank piece of paper that said 13 Pella Symphony Series het shield Zen Glass fusion Welded. One year price $ 21, 314.00 totally differed from what he said prior. He tossed the paper o the kitchen table and packed up his case and left without another word. HOW RUDE, what makes any company think, that you can get people to do business with you, if you treat them so disrespectful. I never make any large purchase as such under pressure, I do my research first, do thank you everyone for confirming my suspicion, this Company is Crap. he bad talked Anderson Windows, so Anderson Windows, here I come.

During the 5 hour appointment with the sales rep my husband and I decided to move forward with the gutter insulation install.  I was informed that the dumpster and supplies would arrive on Thursday Dec 10th that never showed up. Matter of fact the Project manager that came out to check the measurements said that they don't deliver a dumpster for this type of job. The follow-up appointment with the pre-inspection Project Manager was to ensure we understood the details of the project and reiterated the work that would be completed. During this time, he informed us our house was measured incorrectly; the difference in price was well over a grand, which was concerning, seeing I already signed the contract and was scheduled to have the gutters installed the next day. When I stated we had an agreed amount on the contract already signed he informed me that I would need to pay for the additional costs because they forgot to add additional wood. I declined stating we already had a signed contract. The project manager went to his truck to make a phone call. Now mind you The original date was Dec 3 I had 2 days to cancel or change my mind without any penalties. I didn't cancel. The day they came back was Dec 10th 7 days later, The same day the dumpster and supplies were supposed to deliver also the day before the project was to start. . When he came back to the house he informed me unless I pay the additional charges they would cancel the contract that we agreed on. I will never recommend this company, they are unprofessional and do not stand by their agreements or contracts.

Wanna try for a class action? Could probably get a couple more of their "victims" from reading complaints about them. I say victims because that's what we are. Ask for a breakdown of prices for materials, it's like pulling teeth. I lawyered up and I'm typing up my narrative for 'em now. I took a break and thought I would peruse the internet to see how many complaints from 2021 I could find.

Power Home Remodeling theft

We had Power Home Remodeling Group install new windows in our master bathroom. After the installers left, we found several pieces of jewelry missing from my wife's jewelry box, and my teenage daughter's bedroom was search. Please be careful before letting these people into your home! Remember, they have your address.

Power Home Remodeling stay away

I have worked in the marketing department out of power windows and sidings cranford nj office for almost two years (the guys who knocks on your door or approaches you in BJs.) Power windows is not a bad company, in fact, they are a very good company that's treats it's employees very well. They are, however, a first-call-close sales organization, just so happens they sell windows.

All of their products are top of the line as far as quality, warrenty an especially energy efficiantcy. Sure it's gonna be a well dressed salesman at your home and not bob villa, but what company could possibly survive giving free window and siding estimates in this economy? Gimmie a break people.

I graduated in 2008 with a bachelor's from a major university, and because of the economy I couldn't find a job...doing anything! Having worked various jobs since I was 15 I was prepaired to take any job I could find. Growing up in northern nj you develop a stereo type for door to door sales. However, not only does this company offer a fair pay structure, and they actually pay you, they offer full health and dental benefits and a 401k...to knock on doors. The run several promotions through the year and have an amazing Christmas party that p diddy would be proud of. They also do a great deal of charity work and have been featured of extreme home make over and recently on NBC Philly when they completely re did and elderly women's home after she was diagnosed with a life threatening ailment.

So to all you people out there spending all their time and effort trying to bad mouth this company, GET OVER YOURSELF! The fact is that the economy is ### and will continue to be ### for the forseable future. So the next time someone knocks on your door or stops you in BJs, don't brush him off like he's some scam artist. The truth is tht he's probably a college graduate, or a father, someone with bills to pay just like you, and goals in life. We all need to take a step back and scrap the door to door stigmata because frankly it's the people like us who hustle for a living tht made this country great once, not you miserable greedy ### who backrupted the country so you could be a little richier in your sad little world. Everyone should have to do door to door sales at some point in their life, it teaches you a whole new perspective on people, and just how cold thy can really be.

Former Marketer here as well, door to door does definitely give you a different perspective on people. But the job is still a thinly veiled pyramid scheme and they are scam artists. Scam Artists all the way from their job postings, interview, meeting rhetoric, and marketing/sales pitches.

Power Home Remodeling liars!!!

Ok..So I let this guy into my home...that was a bad move...unless you have 3-4 hours to blow...do it and look puzzled...I dont know much about windows but he sure educated me in the first 2 hours...started measuring my windows...have a heat demo with glass...go thru his binder and paper falling out of it...showing a finished product and the window fram broken...great just great...now the calculations...20k plus...and by the way I live in a townhouse complex...very informative but here is where I caught him in a freakin lie...I did my homework on your company Power Windows...today is July 21st...and your sales rep was raving that you were in good terms with the Better Business Bureau...You guys were REVOKED on April 28th 2011! I dont know how many times I had my arms crossed...I think that means Im not interested in body language...the guy tried I admit...he even talked about his family, his whole life story! With the 20k plus you charged me for windows I should have charged the water I gave you to drink!

Thanks but no Thanks!

I experience this same harassment on Saturday. They were in my home for over 6 hours trying to convince me to take their services. I told the sales guy that I needed time to think about it and he stated that the price will go up by $5000 if I didn't take advantage of the first call offer. This company is a fraud and SAMS should have never let them in their stores to harass their customers.

Power Home Remodeling job proposal / estimate

Power Home Remodeling Group is a very unethical company that doesn't truly know what exactly they are doing when it comes to their craft. I recently reached out to them for an estimate on a siding job on my home. It turns out that the exterior walls of my home were actually drywall rather than wood boards. During the estimate visit, the sales rep stated that it wasn't necessary to to replace the exterior drywall with wood boards (although they could for more money). He went on to state that they would simply wrap the existing drywall with their barrier wrap and simply install the foam-backed siding on the walls; never guaranteeing that they would aim for the studs. I have years of experience in performing my own construction both interior/exterior as well as plumbing and electrical. It never made any sense to me that leaving the drywall would be fine but they insisted it was. After it was clear that I wasn't convinced of the proposed job, the sales rep insisted that their lifetime warranty would cover me on any future calls for repair. This clearly was an attempt to sell their job through their warranty rather than quality as if I don't mind having someone constantly come back to fix their own mess. What makes this company even more flaky was the fact that they only give you that first visit to accept their original price. In other words, you HAVE to accept the price the day of the proposal. If not, and you decide to call back after getting some other estimates, they give you a higher price. What ever happened to competition and competing for business?

Here's a couple of factors to consider when dealing with this company. The salesman will be in your house the first time for 3-4 hours. You must accept the price they give you that night and close on the contract. If you decide not to, and want to seek some other estimates to compare (like a smart consumer would have the right to do), then, beware, returning back to them will cost you more. They tend to punish their customers for not accepting the initial offering price. They'll tell you that they spend all of this time in your house because they want to explain everything to you and make sure you are comfortable with making the decision to invest in a major project like this however it is not okay when you would like to take the time to compare prices and proposals. This tactic is in place because Jeff Kaliner and his company know they cannot compete against others. They know they will be under-bid and out-performed. There truly isn't a need for them to lock you in on that first night (although, it is nice for any business to do so). Why would they do that? Your materials aren't ordered. There is still another visit that needs to be made by the job foreman to conduct another final and official measure (and that was scheduled 3-weeks later). So, why the need to lock a customer down on that first night or make the price even higher if they decide not to but come back later? They train these young kids through an assembly line process and get them out in the street to sell their product, never having any type of experience in the construction field. Then, comes the pricing. They're prices are astronomical! The foam-backed siding they offer carries an R-Value of 4 to 4.3. I recently signed with another contractor (after canceling my contract with PHRG) and will have 5/8 in thick wood boarding installed, green guard wrap and 1 1/2 in thick foam boards installed (R-Value of 5.0), and brand new siding. Price came out to $13K. PHRG was going to charge me over $20K just to wrap the house (over the existing drywall) and install the foam-backed siding. Also, if I wanted wood boarding on the walls of the house (which is what it should be) then that would bring the price over $30K. Oh, and by the way, the contractor I chose to go with allowed me to go and continue comparing prices and proposals. They're price, remained the same weeks later. Finally, their ethics come into question here. They insist that they have financing available (which the APR is over 12.00%) and insist not to take any money up-front. They'll tell you that you have that option or you can finance elsewhere. I chose to go elsewhere and, next thing I know, my credit has been run. I insisted for them to not run it and, Mike, the salesman, had it run after telling me he wouldn't. Now, my credit took a hit for that. The explanation that their VP gave me when he went to my house to work on the cancellation was that they needed to know what type of customers they were dealing with. That, just because the house looked nice from the inside and out didn't necessarily mean that the people living there were in a position to afford a job like this. I truly felt insulted! I'm still even considering to seek some type of legal consent or advice on this matter as such an action and statement to justify it were totally offensive and inappropriate.

Dealing with Power Home Remodeling Group taught me valuable lessons on what to watch out for when dealing with contractors. I know there are people out there that may have had a good experience. That is because a company cannot survive on rendering the experience that I had with them, to all of their potential customers. So, at some point or another, they have to do a good job in order to sustain their existence. Please, do not go with this company. If there is anyone that is considering it, please feel free to contact me.

I strongly do not recommend this company. Further, they'll try to sell you the idea that their foam-backed siding allows the house to breathe when others don't. This is truly amusing. Try telling that to companies that have been in the insulation/foaming business for decades such as Owens-Corning. If that was the case, the majority of houses in America would be having a serious problem. I strongly do not recommend Power Home Remodeling Group.

My wife and i planned on getting our windows replaced and when the sales man from Power home remodeling group came to our door, we figured why not get a quote. He said it would take 15 minutes if you knew what you wanted and an hour if you had a lot of questions. I use to sell windows so i knew what i was looking for and figured 15 or 20 minutes to get a quote wasn't bad. So the guy comes and measures every single window in my house after i told him a few times they were all the same size. Of course this was after a 20 minute presentation on the company. 3.5 HOURS later and he finally gave me a quote. Then he seemed confused when i was not ready to buy windows right then. All i wanted was a quote. He assumed i wanted to buy and just kept trying to get me to purchase windows right then. He was nice enough and the windows did seem like they were pretty good, but don't bother having them come unless you have time to waste or are ready right then to buy windows. Also the sales guy that came to our door said the quote was good FOREVER and when i got the quote it was only good for a year. They clearly do not talk and it was nothing but a huge waste of my time.

Power Home Remodeling know what you are signing!

My wife and I made the most rookie of mistakes we have ever made. Everything you have read is true about this company. We had an individual named Michael (I am not giving his last name, but if you ask I will provide) come to our home to give us an estimate on Siding. Michael was pleasant, he arrived about 6:30 PM. After (what we now know was calculated) 3 hours of presentations, measuring, more presentations, and hand written calculations he hit us with the whopper. Michael presented us with a very reasonable quote which was only available if you signed on the dotted line that night. He explained that it is because they don't want to waste sales person time coming back after you have thought about it. If you did not sign that night (at what was now 11:00 PM) the price almost doubles (in our case $23, 045 - $41, 500).
Rookie mistake 1: Michael offered to do something "no one else would think about doing" offer a partial agreement to just cap the windows, which would lock the first night price in. This seemed reasonable. We neded this done anyway and it was chump change. We figured this would give us time to think about the whole job and have other companies in. The catch is, and why I figure they offer this, is that no other company will do a partioal job and still warratny the work. They probably know this so that is why they offer to do this. We cancelled, which to their defense was fairly easy.
Rookie mistake 2: Since the window capping was only $5, 315 we were going to pay cash. Michael however was so proud of the fact that they do not take payment until after the job is done. Maybe it was because it was 11:30 at night, or mayme Michael was just an awesome sales person (I would go with the 11:30 excuse) we signed a credit application that was "standard policy". Well they ran our credit for the whole job. This was a hard inquiry which will affect our credit score. Since this was a cash deal, and I would have been more than willing to pay upfront I am not quite sure why they ran our credit. I am still waiting for my call from the VP of Finance to work this out. I have a feeling I will be waiting for a long time.

I was in sales for over 15 years, I am now in Marketing for a major corporation. I have my MBA. The reason I say this is that with all of my business knowledge and common sense, i was duped. I would never let this company in my home. There are tons of big competitors out there, and the economy stinks. Do yourself a favor skip Power Windows ans Siding.

I just have a quick comment. We were told your "remodeling consultant" would come out to talk with us and give us a quote on a new roof, which should take only an hour! (3+ hours later, 10:30 p.m.), we actually had to be a little forceful and ask your consultant to leave! What the heck! Also, the quote was supposed to be honorable for a few years (I guess not since the consultant took the quote with him). I guess he was a little flustered and upset that he was told to leave!

DON'T YOU TEACH YOUR CONSULTANTS TO TAKE "NO" FOR AN ANSWER EITHER BY THE 1ST OR THE 2ND NO? HECK, HE DIDN'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER THE 3RD NO?

OTHERWISE, WE DO BELIEVE YOUR CO. AND YOUR PRODUCT IS A VERY FAVORABLE ONE! JUST WORK ON YOUR SALES TACTICS! IT IS A VERY BIG TURNOFF!
THANKS!

We had windows installed in our master bedoom, and my wife's engagement ring and my watch were missing when the installers left. Also, our daughter's bedroom was searched during the installation. Remember, these people know where you live and you are inviting them to case your house.

If any posts are interested, I have retained an attorney to protect me from this company.I too, have had the same experience with this company. I ordered 5 windows, 1 didn't match..they sent a few to see the problem, only to tell me that they can't fix it...the project manager was a total waste, clueless..I am left with mismatched windows that I spent 5500.00 for...4 windows in a condo...WHAT A RIPOFF!..This is the reason I have contacted a lawyer..Anyone wants to know more.contact me at VizULfx@yahoo.com.I will give you more info on names, etc. this company needs to be held responsible, since they ignore complaints, and don't seem to know how to fix their mistakes.

Having worked briefly for this company I can tell you that Mr. Kalinder knows and is involved with the sales process. They also pitch to you that they dont use "subcontractors". Guess what... They are all sub contractors. For anyone reading this and considering using Power Hrg or any other name they change to in the future ask the installers for there insurance. They will produce a certificate of insurance with there company name. Guess why... There subcontractors... That is if they have insurance. In most states its actually illeagal to offer a "buy tonight" price. They should be reported to home improvement commissions...

Thanks for your feedback guys! While visiting the 4th of July celebration in Philly, I had signed up for a "free-estimate" for new sidings. Reading your comments woke me up! What was I thinking?...these windows and sidings entities should be better regulated 'cuz seems like they are all the same (I had a similar bad experience with a Windows Wholesaler, also in Philadelphia!). Needless to say, when I called to cancel with the Power HRG, they didn't even have me on their schedule (at least that's what the person on the other end feigned). And they all keep changing their business name every so often...whats with that?

Mr. Lodato, I agree with Mr. Oddo. I too am a Finance Major and Accountant. I also possess a background in construction as well. I had the same experience that Mr. Oddo had to endure. I would believe that both he and I, having backgrounds in sales, do not feel it is necessary to trap a customer for 3-4 hours and then require them to buy the product or they will be punished if they come back to you. That isn't what sales is truly about. If you honestly felt confidence in your product and that it can actually sell itself, you wouldn't need to lock down a customer on the first night (and take the amount of time that your sales reps do). Further, your sales rep told me that, if I were going to finance the job elsewhere, they would not run my credit. Later on, they did. Now, my credit was impacted negatively just like Mr. Oddo's. Why does your company do that? What explanation can you give that justifies that type of action? What you explained to Mr. Oddo was completely unacceptable. His permission nor mine were ever granted to run the credit. Your company went ahead and did just that. That, too me, is unethical. I really would be disappointed if Mr. Jeff Kaliner new this was going on and found it to be acceptable. I cannot see how you would feel proud of conducting business in a manner that will entrap a customer within his/her home for 3-4 hours, force them to accept the price of the product, and then render a poor job (that will be in another complain that I have). For the reasons indicated above and in Mr. Oddo's complaint, I will never conduct business with Power Home Remodeling Group. I will also see to it that your company's reputation of conducting shady business, is known through all of my referrals.

Mr. Oddo,

Thank you very much for your feedback. Even though its troubling for us to hear about such a frustrating encounter with us, its always an outside perspective that helps us become a better business. Whether it was apparent to you or not, we truly do strive to make our customers happy. We want everyone to understand the complexities involved with choosing the right product and the right contractor. And we take the time to explain that while we meet with you, specifically to avoid any ambiguity or unanswered questions down the road. It may have seemed a bit drawn out in our initial visit, but I assure you that it is vital for the weeks of process involved in a successful home improvement project. To address a few minor details in your comments:

- Regarding the capping project, $5, 315 is certainly not chump change to us. We don't contract to take that job because no one else will do it. We do that knowing we can deliver an excellent installation for a project you needed, and that hopefully we would be considered for your future needs. In addition, other companies would certainly take that job. We're not concerned about snatching you away from the competition. If capping was what you wanted, and it was within your budget, we are happy to serve you.

- With regard to a cash payment, we appreciate that you would have been willing to pay in cash. Contrary to how most companies operate, we actually prefer that you don't provide money up front. We want people to pay for a job they're happy with, when they're happy with it, and not a second before. We take no money up front to ensure you that we stand by our word and intend to deliver on what we promise. As you can understand with your business background, that can be a risky enterprise for us. We lay out all the money and risk, and get paid when we're done- trusting that our customers will stand by their word. One protection that we undertake is a credit inquiry, simply to make sure each cash customer has a satisfactory history of paying their debts. If you would have preferred to pay up front in full, and avoid a credit inquiry, that can certainly be discussed. But as a general practice, we don't feel comfortable asking our customers to assume that risk, and so we do not.

Mr. Oddo, if you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me directly.

Power Home Remodeling soliciting/ illegal installation

Power Windows and Siding was seen soliticing on our propoerty, a self maintained condo complex. Power Windows was called on several occasions from me, the Maintenance Supervisor and from the President. On one occation I spoke with Kelly at Power Windows and explained that soliticing is not allowed and if they want the Board of Directors to review their product, they would have to submit a Ct. Licence, Insurance Certificate and a sample of their product, Kelly agreed. Our requests to Power Windows were disrespectfully ignored. Replacement windows and patio doors were installed in a unit behind our back. The unit owner was told that Power Windows had the Boards approval, a lie. Power Windows did not have authorization to do the installation. The unit owner was lied to. Bi-laws specificly state that approved windows and doors must meet set standards of Glen Oaks Condominiums, which are new construction windows and patio sliders with built in J-channel. Reason being that it is the best installion for weather efficiency and water leakage. Siding must be removed and the installation tab wrapped with water and ice shield. We are outraged with Power Windows sneaky installation and blatant disrespect to our communities laws. The windows will be removed and new construction windows will be installed to preserve the integity our building. Legal action will be taken if compensation is not made to us at Glen Oaks Condominiums. I've made several calls to Power Windows to discuss this issue, but have not been called back. My number is [protected]. Call me ASAP Power Windows. Thank You, Peter (Maintenance Supervisor)

For the past several summers sales representatives from Power Group have solicited me in person at my home for home improvement work and free estimates. In one of those summers I agreed for the rep to have someone give me an estimate on roof and windows. When he insisted that I would have to be at home at the time for the estimate, I told him not to bother. Unfortunately, I had given him my cell phone number. The company then proceeded to call me around 10 times that summer with more solicitations, despite me telling them I was no longer interested. Fast forward to last summer, where I was outside my home cutting the grass and noticed a young man was walking around from house to house. He then approached me while I was mowing the grass and I noticed that he had a "Power" t-shirt and he was asking about work I needed on my home. I told him I wasn't interested but then he insisted that I turn the mower off so he could give me more details. I told him I had already been approached by his company and I was familiar with what he wanted to say and had to finish the lawn. He proceeded to calling me an a__hole. At this point I did turn the mower off and let him know that I didn't appreciate him coming on my property to call me names. He then put himself in a fighting stance with his fists raised. I told him to get off my property before something happened that we would both regret and that I was thinking of filing a complaint with his company. He then said how did I know what company he was from and I said your t-shirt gives it away. He never denied that he was not with power home improvement . If this is the way the company trains its sales staff, how can anyone even think of doing business with the company.

I clearly believe Peter simply because Power Home Remodeling Group seems to operate in a very shady manner. I recently reached out to them for an estimate on a siding job on my home. It turns out that the exterior walls of my home were actually drywall rather than wood boards. During the estimate visit, the sales rep stated that it wasn't necessary to to replace the exterior drywall with wood boards. What makes this company even more flaky was the fact that they only give you 3 days to cancel their original price. In other words, you HAVE to accept the price the day of the proposal. If not, and you decide to call back after getting some other estimates, they may give you a higher price. What ever happened to competition and competing for business? I strongly do not recommend this company. Further, they'll try to sell you the idea that their foam-backed siding allows the house to breathe when others don't. This is truly amusing. Try telling that to companies that have been in the insulation/foaming business for decades such as Owens-Corning. If that was the case, the majority of houses in America would be having a serious problem. I strongly do not recommend Power Home Remodeling Group.

Peter,

Thank you for contacting us. Per our contract, the homeowner is responsible for getting approval for a remodeling job from their Home Owner's Association. However, we assist the homeowner as much as possible in the application process in providing for them insurance certifications, color chips and brochures.

Peter, someone from our operations department will be contacting you shortly in order to discuss this matter.

Power Home Remodeling window & lock quality

We had Windows installe approximately 10-15 years ago. After the first year things started to break. Insulator strips falling off, lock mechanisms breaking, tensioner/release mechanisms breaking. We called a couple of times for replacement parts and once they were sent out. After the 2nd complaint we got no more satisfaction. Apparently these windows were a of a obsolete design with multiple flaws and no customer satisfaction. I don't know how their work and products are today but I would never recommend Power Windows and Siding to anyone. As a matter of fact I have steered most everyone I talk to to another company.

I like your response Ray, it's hysterical. "At the point and time of your purchase..." . Classic. But I think you meant "at the point IN time of your purchase. "At a cost to us...". Seriously, are you writing these jokes yourself? You are addressing a customer's legitimate complaint with snide remarks of your own? Albeit subtle, still lacks tact and taste. And I love how you include your "personal contact info"- your office line and extension. Is that how your friends and family get a hold of you 24/7, Ray, by calling a company's office line and waiting for the prompts to dial an extension?

How much does anyone want to bet that this "service appointment" Ray is promising is actually a sales appt that poor Mr. Basciano will have to sit through for 4 hrs at his own home, with some shady sales guy upselling him and telling him he needs a new roof?

And Ray, how did you know this customer's name- he doesn't have it listed anywhere? A little digging perhaps? Creepy.

Mr. Basciano,

My name is Ray Lodato and I work as the Customer Care Manager here at Power Home Remodeling Group. First off, Mr. Basciano, thank you for your past business. I want you to know that Power is dedicated to make the customer's experience as satisfying as possible, so, naturally, after I read your complaint, I was concerned and immediately looked into your issue. Mr. Basciano, I see that we installed products on your house in 1997 and last had contact with you - for a service - 8 years ago.

At the point and time of your purchase, Power was a smaller company and honored a 2-year labor warranty - that has since been amended to a lifetime labor warranty. Also, at the time of your purchase, Power used a different window manufacturer than we currently do as well. Despite the difference, we're still able to service your products - at a cost to us - but will do so for you free of charge. Ralph, I apologize for any past frustration these issues may have caused, but know that Power is committed to service excellence, so anything we can do to help you, please let us know.

Below is my personal contact information - please feel free to contact me at anytime and we can discuss moving forward with a service appointment to resolve the issue.

Best,

I sent an email to the company on saturday and I was contacted by the regional Vice President that monday first thing in the morning. We spoke at length about the episode that happened during our sales visit. He apoligized several time to me and told me the employee was disciplined and this is not what they expect of there employees. He also said that he knows Im upset and if I dont want to go with them he understands but he offered to give me an extended discount and I can call them whenever I want to. Thats the way it should be done he was curtious and professional and obviously no pressure. I am still considering doing my windows in the next few months and I will not count them out because of him.

They were at a Fair that I went to last September and they showed me all kinds of stuff. The pushed for me to schedule an appointment for one of those estimates. Well as the day got closer I started to have a funny feeling about this so I blew them off lol and later eventually told them I wasn't interested and hung up after they called about 10 times. Well so far twice since Sept they called to try to get me back on the Schedule I told them both times I wasn't interested. Yes i know I was kinda naive at the time and just didnt' think about it. I wish I told them no then and walked away. Was glad to see this post here by that person and I'm like dam they are pushy. Well just figured I'd share my little exp I had with them. Yes they seem like a scam. I live in a Condo and only have one big window in my living room and one little one in the bed room. I geuss they would have tried to make pay 5K or so. I think I would have needed approval from my condo manager too.

I work for a home remodeling company very similar to PWS. They do Offer good quality windows no doubt. So does Anderson, but does it justify paying $800-$1, 000 per window?

No, both companies charge a hefty price for the service and quality. Not to say you aren't getting what you paid for but you "may" be able to find a better deal somewhere else. This all comes down to getting estimates.

I can tell you it will be VERY hard to find a company that will give you the best product for the best price, mainly because not everyone operates with honesty and integrity.

At the company I work for Precision Exteriors we tell the truth and present things honestly. We can offer the same EXACT quality as PWS since we also buy from the same Manufacture.

Our MOST expensive Triple Pane Low-Argon, Krypton, Window is only $600. Lifetime warranty. Installed

I'll provide anyone an estimate via email or phone.

All of the reviews for this company are the same- terrible. It's obvious that the Regional Vice President that g4392 spoke with was lying- this is exactly how they expect their employees to behave...in fact it is the way they train them to behave and sell. Anytime you hear the old "you must sign now to get this price" crap, it's a scam. Any reputable company will give you the info you need particular to you, and let you think about it and get back to them IN YOUR OWN GOOD TIME, not the other way around.

OMG! SO TRUE I lost 3hours that I will never get back! The salesman would not take the hints that he was no longer welcome, and we would not be bullied into buying their product. He would not leave, when he finally did it was with ''the you will be sorry attitude''. No reputable company would offer you a $10, 000 price difference only if you sign on the bottom line the same day. The best part is that they compare, and brag that they do business following the same model as UPS. Are they kidding NOT EVEN CLOSE! When was the last time UPS took 3 hours to give you a quote to ship a product, lower it 3 times, an tell you that price is only good today. When I called to complain I got a very arrogant VP who was not nice. Just say NO don't let them in your home.

Power Home Remodeling lied about how work would be done

Salesman assured me that the entire window frame would be removed. It was not. Smaller windows were installed inside the original frames making the frames wider and the windows smaller. They look like crap and have devalued my custom build stone rancher. This is trailer park technology and we will probably end up in court. I am so upset I can't sleep.

Former Marketer here as well, door to door does definitely give you a different perspective on people. But the job is still a thinly veiled pyramid scheme and they are scam artists. Scam Artists all the way from their job postings, interview, meeting rhetoric, and marketing/sales pitches.

Power Home Remodeling good company

After 2+ hours of a powers guy in home I am about ready to cut my wrists. But what I would really like to know is what major university pws graduated from. My third grader has better writing and spelling skills. Just want to make sure no one I know decides to enroll there!

Apparently "PWS GUY" thinks that just b/c the economy sucks we should feel sorry for the salespeople and drop $20k + on windows or siding we don't need. And for what- a shoddy product and sloppy installation? No thanks. Andersen or Pella, 10 times out of 10.

I understand your side of this, trust me I am in customer service and deal with all kinds of people. But, beside that they are a great company to work for and spend my hard earned dollars that I paid them on a great party for you, the customer is usually left high and dry. They make us feel that they got our money and then disappear. Great employer, bad customer service.

And it's people like you with your vulgar language and attitude problems that all these costumers are complaining about.
The company is great to employees, sure... But you and I both know how poorly we're trained to treat the people we talk to.
###, in several of the meetings our regional manager would tell us NOT to give the customer a choice and find any way to get them into the sale.

So yeah, PWS is, and forever will be, a poor excuse of a company with jacked up prices on slightly above-average products.

Power Home Remodeling push sales tactics

I'm glad I'm not the only person who feels embarrassed about letting this company enter my home. I wish I had the time to have looked this up information before the sales pitch. I stated that I wasn't signing on to work that night about an hour into the presentation. I could tell from the escalation in the sales person's voice this didn't go over well. I don't respond to the "hard sell". If you can only give me a price that's good for that night, I'm not doing business with your company. Does that seem so unreasonable? It seemed to be to this sales guy. My only regret is that I was polite and followed social norms to not cut the person off to tell him to leave me home. After he left without giving me a written quote, and taking up 2 hours of my Friday evening, I really wish I had the nerve to tell him to get the “F” out after the first hour. It's too bad they didn't just give the window information in about a reasonable amount of time like a half hour and leave a written quote good for 30 days. I probably would have bought some windows from them. Now I'll look for someone that doesn't make me feel like I’m a captive in my own my home. By the way, it's nice to see that the company also reads these posts and adds their own counter responses. Maybe if they just didn't employ these sales tactics there wouldn't be these complaints.

My complaint is the after market warranty. My windows were purchased and installed in 2003 with a "lifetime" manufacturers warranty. Guess what? 10 years later my window is broken, but the manufacturer is out of business. I was told that I would have to pay for the new glass which could run to several hundred dollars. I don't care how you spin the explanation, it is bait and switch. You can always tell a customer that the manufacturer is out of business and that they now have to purchase a more expensive product. I believe that customer service should be better than the economy. If customers pay more, they should expect more, resulting in increased business through customer satisfaction. Never should it be expect the best but accept the worst. If anyone wants to contact me regarding Power Windows, I would be happy to tell them about my experience.

How many times have I e-mailed you, RAY ? About this issue..you have not contacted me.I am very unhappy with these windows..Even though they don't match, no one seems to care. I am so mad at this point.sell me a window, then walk away? All I wanted was to have the dining room window match the rest of the windows..but noooo...I get told over and over it's not possible..well...I NEVER would have bought these windows had I known that the windows would NOT MATCH..WTF? Then your staff just blows me off..Makes me sure that I got ripped off, and that's why I hired an attorney and I am going after your shady business practices..I have NO fear of courts, and I believe that many will join in our efforts to show how your company is dishonest.

I agree, this company is a complete joke with their sales tactics. I just had the sales guy leave because he could not give me a price on the job after going on for 45 minutes about their products. When I asked for a price, he got ignorant and blurted out stupid numbers like I was the wrong one. What idiots! Stay far away from this company...I should of known when the door to door salesman came and told me they were doing a house on my street which was a complete lie. Please do yourself a favor and avoid doing business with this company.

PA Homeowner,

You're absolutely right we read the feedback our customers give us about our company's products and services. Customer feedback is the #1 of improving our policies and procedures in order to ensure a phenomenal home remodeling experience for our customers. I'm terribly sorry you had a bad experience with our company - it is certainly not the way we want to be represented. We literally meet with hundreds of homeowners everyday in order to discuss their home remodeling projects and make their dream a reality. Due to the nature of our presentations - which occur in home - it would be impossible to monitor the specific actions of each and everyone of our representatives. We do our absolutely best to train our representatives in an attempt to create the best home remodeling experience for our customers. Unfortunately, sometimes, we have complications and a representative will act in a different way than we'd like. In cases such as this, we own the mistake and apologize for the inconvenience, but then work hard to make sure what you experienced will not continue to occur. If you'd like to discuss the matter further, please contact our Customer Advocacy Manager, Ray Lodato at [protected] x2260 or e-mail him at RLodato@powerhrg.com

I agree that the sales tactics is pretty close to the word 'Extortion'. At the very end I got 3 prices...within a year financed with them...RIGHT now with their financing and then the "cheapest" well 1/2 of the highest price if I sign immediately with no financing. When I questioned why the big discount if I buy NOW instead of later he compared his time to come back to me with UPS re-delivering packages to addressees who weren't home. Anyway when he said I'd get $1500 back I jumped at it. Today I just read the IRS instructions for line 10 concerning Credit Limitations! Being below the tax threshold I'm out of luck & $1500. I guess I should have waited for this year. Not only did they change their name but also gives you the $1500 discount up front. Somehow I think my quotes would start $1500 higher than last year. In closing the first crew that came and installed my windows not only burned my grass with the old picture window after I had them move it once, only for them to lay it back down on my beautiful lawn, but their job was redone by a 2nd crew that had more experience than 6 months. I must admit the windows are Beautiful and after 21 years the drafts are gone but I still was HOODWINKED on the initial sale by their technique.

Power Home Remodeling no means no

I agreed to a "free consultation" for new windows at my home. 4 hours later, the sales person was still in my home. I told him no a number of times and finally agreed to the windows after I learned I had 3 days to cancel my order. You can't order the windows without signing up for a high interest credit card. The application for the credit card was processed before my 3-day cancel option was over and I now have a new credit card that has negatively impacted my credit score. No means No. I don't care if this is the best window in the world; the company's selling tactics are OBNOXIOUS and Wrong.

My husband and I met with a wonderful sales person on Friday after Thanksgiving from Power Home Remodeling Group in CT and Mike M. was wonderful. He walked us through everything and wanted to be 150% sure that we were certain about purchasing our windows. There was no pressure at all and I never thought I would say this about a sales person, but he was down to earth and very easy to talk to. The consultation did take 4 hours, but I knew how long it would be since I questioned it before I even scheduled the appointment.

Why in the hell would you agree to apply for a high-interest credit card in order to get windows you didn't want in the first place? Just tell them no and to leave. And if they don't, call the police. Simple as that.

Power Home Remodeling I love power windows and siding

I have been working for the company for over a yr now and I love it!

The funny thing about comments is that you can never really know what the true intention of the writer is. I see so much hate e-mails about my company. Unfortunately people are very lazy in writing letters that highlight how happy they are with there jobs. I have been doing this job for over a yr now and I am proud to say I work for the company. I can't tell you how many houses where we ended up doing a part of the job and I am called back to do the rest. I have seen first hand the impeccable quality of the work our installers do.

By the way we offer what is called the Power Wall system- it is only sold as a complete system with the contoured insulated backing, so that post where we installed siding without it, is obviously a plant from an independent contractor trying not to go out of business because he can't compete. I am sorry but the best push the rest out of the field and that's the way it is. The simple fact is that we would not be the forth largest contractor in New Jersey if were weren't delivering what we promise to our consumers. Simple fact.

I have a funny story, I went to a house a few weeks ago to give a quote for siding. The gentleman was an installer for a company that will remain unnamed, but he did windows and everything else for them. I was shocked to find this out since his very house was literally falling down around he and his wife. The first thing I ought was wow, what kind of work does this guy do? He is a good representation for what this industry is, the reason why we do so well is because of the high standards we require as a company. Good Luck and realize that you can't please all the people all of the time, but we get pretty close :)

I agree people like to complain for no apparent reason, so I gave it a try and had power Windows and siding come to my place for an estimate. They gave me a bad impression of their organization such as poor business practices and poor business conduct. When I cancelled they sent somebody out to do the cancellation, what business does that in the first place! When the person came out, I kept him outside and I'm glad I did because when he knew he wasn't' getting his way he got angry. Nobody needs to slander that operation, they do a well enough job on their own. People do try to warn each other about outfits such as this company. Give them a try and you will also understand why people are complaining about this organization. The consumers need to stick together so others don' t get hustled or scammed.

Power Home Remodeling don't spend the money!!!

I agree with the complaint from NY! Very long sales pitch. I bought it though and had the first half of my home's windows installed. The installer was wonderful, very clean andd thorough. Two weeks later the other half goes in. Entirely different crew to install the big windows. Left nails in the driveway, did not clean up inside nor the windows themselves. The screens were not square and the material to finish my large front window was cheap and caved in shortly after install. I called, called again, left emails, finally gave up. Miraculously, I get a phone call a little over a year after my installation to see how I like my windows. I told him my story and he made an appointment right at that time to send someone out. He said he wants me to be happy. The story I got from that representative is that a year had passed and I was out of warantee! Well I was under warantee when I was calling, hello! I was told the screens are made purposely not to fit and he told me to just spray insect repellent if I didn't want bugs in my house. Are you serious? Told him thanks for nothing, feel completely ripped off! Don't spend the extra money on their energy efficient windows. You will never save the money they claim, unless of course, your insulation throughout your house as well as your doors are completely air tight!

Just got 2 phone calls back to back. I politely stated to both people I will never use PW&S ever again and have told everyone I know not to bother as well. The response I got was thank you and goodbye. Neither seemed to be concerned I was an unsatisfied customer, didn't care why either. Hmmm...makes me wonder what percentage of calls to previous customers have the same end result!

Power Home Remodeling policy

HAHA windows for $100. I have worked in the home improvement industry for 10 years. Andersen/Pella windows will not cost you $1500 per window. $300 new Construction and $500 replacement (Andersen). Going install prices go for about $250 to $400 per window. Andersen/Pella replacements are 100 times better than power windows windows. Power windows= vinyl. Anderen/Pella =vinyl/wood interior. The U-factor between the windows are about the same. Stop going to these companies and getting ripped off. They are selling you a viynl window with LowE and argon with tempered glass. That will cost you about $250 to $400 depending on the company including the tempered glass.

Buy your windows at a local home improvement store and hire a reputable contractor to put it in at a fair price. The high prices you are paying are for are corporate middle-men. The best way to save money is to cut out the middleman. You know between the window maker and the installer. Power Windows doesn't make their window, they have a manufacturer make it for them. You pay them because you are too lazy to buy the window and find someone to put it in.

Power Windows salesmen will lie to you because thats the corporate culture and that makes them so successful. They prey on your weak nature, and your inability to slam the door in their face. Feel bad for the guys that have to walk all day door to door to get you on the phone. They get paid per appointment ($50) and often gets chased by cops because the company doesn't obtain legal permits til after they get caught by the cops. Yes people, in most towns its illegal to solicit door to door without paying most towns about $80 per sales rep.

BTW people I used to work there for about a week. I feel so sick in my stomach working there, that I would puke in the morning. The day I left was very liberating .

Try harder the next time you want to make it look like you DON'T work for those scam artist pigs Power Windows or whatever the f*ck those criminals are called now. Clearly you yourself are a con artist trying to claim that "you can't get a true replacement window installed correctly and waranteed for a penny lower". That is a flat out lie and you know it Mattice you brain dead worm. Now go back to f*cking your pets and smelling your own farts, b/c there are real people here who actually pay attention to what they are buying. I don't want sub par crap installed by subcontractors- which is who Power Windows uses to install! And for the record, I have the resources to install whatever kind of window I want in my house, no matter the cost. I just enjoy calling out scams when I see them. Mattice you poor peasant troll. I'm in the construction industry myself and was neutral, if not skeptical of power at first. But I now kno Power is an excellent company, I appreciated the presentation and know for a fact you can't get a true replacement window installed correctly and waranteed for a penny lower. They are best in class and I have used them myself for both homes I've lived in and have recommended them several times to more than satisfied friends, family as well as clients. Sounds to me like people upset they can't afford the products. Too bad really, because you're leaving an unfair impression and a lost opportunity for the people who are smart enough to do the math and realize the job done right once saves the most money. Thanks again Power.

LOL...cheapos b/c we don't want abusive sales tactics while buying subpar crap windows and shoddy installation by guys who very well may have violent criminal records? "Power HRG" or "Power Windows & Siding" or whatever they're called now (typical shady company move to change names) is a crap company that deceives it's potential customers (victims). Case in point- when I agreed to the free estimate, the salesman told me to initial at the bottom of my info sheet, saying that "this just says that we won't sell your info to a third party"...well, come to find out after looking this up online, what it actually was saying was that I gave them permission to pester me constantly with telemarketing calls even though I'm on the "do not call" registry. I can only assume that the turd sales guy had his finger over that fine print so I couldn't see it while I signed. Cameli, if you're defending these guys then you are a nutless gutless turd yourself and you should be ashamed of yourself for associating with this terrible company.

Stay away from Power Windows there installers are the worst in the business. I had the roof done first rain the shingles fell off my bay window. Shingles cuped on roof and they damaged the wood on the roof with the air nailer. Also an area of the roof I was told new wood would be installed it never was. I also had the whole house and garage sided I could write a book about the problems with the siding and soffits. They said I would not have to do anything to the outside of my house for 50 years. Holds up to high winds thats BS soffit and siding did not last 50 days let alone years. Liers biggest BS on the planet it should not be my job to tell you what to fix they just don't care no pride what so ever.

Power Home Remodeling unethical business practices

Met Power Windows & Siding at a home show, the representative told me we could get a free Window estimate. Told me, and I quote, "A free estimate, no obligation at all, everything will be done from the outside, no one will come in your house". So I figured, why not, I will get the free estimate, and then decide what I want to do. I made the appointment for a Thursday. PW&S then called me on the Tuesday of that week at 9:45am and asked me if the sales person could be there at 11 that morning. ( I since noticed they had called 4 other times that morning, never left a message - I was out). I said that the appointment was supposed to be on Thursday, not Tuesday. She said that was OK, but the guy was in the area, he could come at 11. I said that was OK, but I had to be somewhere at noon. She said, "Maybe Thursday would be better, he might take longer than an hour". That was their first mistake, as I found out later their appointments last an average of 6 hours, as mine did. Lying to me right off the bat means you are trying to maneuver your way into people's houses any way you can, because if you told people the truth, no one would let you in. Talk about unethical. So we had a huge snow storm, and they called later that day to cancel for Thursday and told me they would call the next week to reschedule. So Thursday comes, and then PW&S calls me at 11:20 on Thursday and said the sales person would be there between 4 & 5 that day. OK, so now I'm starting to get irritated - you can't even schedule an appointment right, how much are you going to screw up my window installation if I go with you? So I just agree to it, let's just get this over with, after all, I'm still going on the first guys quote that no one will come in my house, everything will be done from the outside. Fast forward now, the sales person is here for 6 hours, my dinner that is only partly made burns, every time we ask him how much longer he is going to be he says "15 minutes or so". He even says if I wanted to finish dinner and set an extra plate for him he wouldn't mind! So now to their product - I have no doubt they have good windows - but are they unique? I doubt it. We went to a local hardware store the day after (not a big chain one), and talked to the guy there. All vinyl windows are fusion welded, and believe me, we could not break the one at the hardware store, either. The salesman from PW&S must have picked up that sample of the screwed window from the local Five and Dime store. Most windows have Argon Gas in them, and again, to say that other windows only have a small percentage of Argon gas in them, you can't generalize like that, unless you got that window at a Five and Dime. The windows we looked at the local hardware store had the same quality locks, child locks, etc. as the PW&S windows. So don't be fooled into thinking their windows are so unique and superior. They are not, and the ones at the local Hardware store also qualified for the 2009 Energy Tax Credit, given only to windows that have a U-Factor of less than or equal to .30. If you listen to the sales pitch of PW&S, they will tell you that no other windows fit into this qualification. The windows we found at the local hardware store DID. PW&S has a double lifetime limited transferable warranty? Yes, but not unique - so did the windows at the local hardware store, and that was just one store we went to. 30% Energy savings guarantee at PW&S? Yes, but the local hardware store gave us 45% guarantee! And here was the clincher - the sales person went on and on about them being members of AAMA, and how there installers were trained by AAMA, yet nowhere on AAMA's web site is PW&S mentioned, and if you search on AAMA's web site under their member search area, you can't find PW&S. Now, PW&S will also give you a sales pitch on how they are members of the Better Business Bureau, and all their complaints have all been resolved, blah blah blah, yet, he failed to mention that their BBB accreditation expired on 12/31/2009. I'd say that all this adds up to a lot of unethical business practice. If your product is that good, it should sell itself, you shouldn't have to deceive people to this extent to get them to buy your product. And then there was the old come in with a huge price, give a good 10% off, then offer half off if you sign right then! So 6 hours later, after walking THROUGH my house and measuring, which is totally NOT what the person at the home show had said would happen (and I was not prepared for someone to be IN my house at all, especially for 6 hours), the only thing I have to say is yes, they may have good windows, but they are extremely over-priced, their business practice is unprofessional to say the least, and there is plenty of other windows out there with the same features, if not better, and much MUCH more reasonably priced. Do your research!

I live in NJ as well and unfortunately had Power Siding and Windows replace my living room windows.---WHAT A HORRIBLE DECISION THAT WAS! The representative who did the presentation to my fiance and me LIED (yes, lied) about the process in which the windows would be put in, the financing process, AND the structure of the windows! After receiving a mysterious credit card in the mail with 23.99% interest rate, I called the credit card company and they told me that this credit card was ordered through PS&W! I immediately called the representative that we spoke with numerous times. However, this representative (who also is a head representative in the sales department) was close to impossible to get in touch with. When my fiance finally spoke with him, my fiance told him about the inconsistencies that occurred and the representative told him that, and I quote, "I don't care what the customers think. I finished the sale. You can talk to the people in the office now". Although I attempted to make complaints with a supervisor, there was no one in the office who seemed interested enough to assist me.
When my windows were put in, the workers ripped apart part of my dry wall around the windows. The workers pointed out to me that one of the windows that they received to put in for me had a crack in the plastic side and they would come back to replace the window. Even though the windows were NOT the windows that were described to my fiance and me as the ones as we were getting, we tried to find the positives in having these windows. PW&S had to come to our house 3, yes THREE, times to replace our cracked window; the first two times they came, the workers were given the wrong window. PW&S told me that when the workers came to our house to put in the new/not cracked window, they would also fix my dry wall that they ruined. This was a lie as well. I had to make a 4th appointment with this company for workers to come to my house to fix the dry wall. We had to keep our curtains down for over 1 month as a result of the length between the appointments to finally fix everything.
Months later, as the weather got colder, my fiance and I noticed a cold breeze coming from the window area. I again called PW&S about this, but had to wait 3 weeks for someone to come to our house to look at the problem. The worker found that the spackle around the windows cracked and told me that they had a "bad batch of spackle" at one point of time--hahaha--another lie.
Just 1 month after the new spackle was put on around the windows, my fiance noticed that our living room was feeling cold and the cold air was coming from the window area AGAIN! We found that one of our windows no longer latches unless we do not close the window all of the way or if we pull the window out of place--both options leave cold air blowing into our house. Well, PW&S pitches that their windows will help save electric bills--I can guarantee that their very poor products and service causes this to be a HUGE LIE! I will call PW&S this week, and can't wait to see what excuses they will have this time. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! YOU WILL REGRET IT!

Power Home Remodeling customer service

I had a similar experience with Power Windows and siding. The gentlmen who had come out for the free estimate didn't lease until after 11 pm at night when I had finally agreed to the contract after a long sales pitch and discounts which were only available that night if I signed the contract. There are low interest loans available through PA for energy saving home improvements. I requested they hold off on running my credit (a prereq for the contract), until I was able to apply for this program. I spoke with a lovely gentlemen who assured me they would. A week later my credit card through them came in the mail. I was furious! The representative that called my home to schedule the preinstallation appointment was rude and inconsiderate. I requested that the representative call me at work the following day. The representative did not call me at work, rather he continued to call me at my home after 8pm. I called and asked to speak with someone. The customer service representative did not understand why I was so upset. My argument was how could I trust an organization if I could not trust their representatives. I spoke with numerous individuals to request that they cancel my contract due to breech of contract under negligence of good faith standards. I have received no response in six months. I just had a sales guy at the door. He was so involved in his pitch I don't think he heard a word I said about his company and my experience with them.

If you encounter this organization do yourself a favor - avoid their sales pitch, avoid their salesmen, be polite but if they don't stop, shut the door!

This company took complete advantage of my disabled wife, the salesman told her she was signing paperwork for the financing and slipped in a contract agreement which she signed. When I took a look at the paper work I noticed the work agreement, I had her immediately call and cancel the contract. The company absolutely refuses to let her out of the contract, and are now threatening to sue for the balance of the contract. I had 3 other contractors come to my house and do the same job for half of power Windows and siding, don't let this company near your house and definitely don't sign anything with them. The salesman come off really nice at first, with all there demonstrations that take hours to get through. The pressure sales tactic is how they get you to sign. My wife has traumatic brain injury from a car accident and I feel the salesman took complete advantage of her.

I have gotten work down by power windows and siding and I find their company to be top of the line. I have returned to them for not only replacing my windows but my front door and garage door and eventually plan on them doing my siding. I found the presentation to be quite informative and the company through and through to be top of the shelf. I think it is unfortunate you feel this way Sharene cause I have had a couple of my friends as well use them and we have nothing but great things to say about them. I personally am happy to find a company with such high quality and good business practices in an industry that tends to be so risky.

I posted a similar comment under another complaint before I realized the location was New York...want to copy it here to make sure Pennsylvanians see it too:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I went through the sales process with Power Windows and Siding last week, and I have to say that there are points to both sides. Ultimately, however, I became very suspicious and am canceling my installation agreement, because the salesman sent up a red flag right before leaving. Here are the key points:

* I want a LOT of information before making a huge purchase of this kind, and I actually kept the sales guy for FOUR hours to make sure I understood what he said I was getting and under what terms.

* Quality products and installation, with a long-term guarantee, just plain cost more than the "you can get windows [or siding or roofing] for half the price from X" option.

* The sales "presentation" seemed very good, and the salesman answer all of my questions. He built up my trust, and I was ready to just go ahead and get it done.

BUT, then things started getting fishy...

* As we closed the deal, he said something like, "Great, Mr. Francisco--we'll do a great job for you and bring everything up to code." Gee, I thought, neither he (not that he was qualified to judge) nor anyone else had ever pointed out any specific code violation around my home. Then came The Bomb...

* As he got up to leave, he said (again, paraphrasing), "Before I go, Mr. Francisco, I'd like to know that you're 100% behind this project." I said, "Sure--but if you want me to promise I won't back out, I can't do that. Doesn't the law give me a three-day right of recision?" He said, "Yes, " skipping over the word like it made him nervous, and went on to say, "but I'd just like to know that you're 100% committed." That sounded even more coercive, so I got more forceful in return: "If what your asking is for me to waive my right to back out of the agreement, I simply can't do that." We went back and forth for about 10 minutes, because he didn't want to leave until I promised that I would not cancel the agreement. ALARM BELLS WERE NOW SCREAMING.

Now VERY suspicious, I thought about everything that had happened:

* He only took one quick, rough measurement.

* He started with an astronomical price, then immediately dropped it 30% as soon as I balked--to make me FEEL like I was getting a big discount, even though the price still seemed very high even for a top-quality job.

* I told him I still couldn't afford it, so he said he would help me out. He offered to finance the job at something like 13% APR. Obvously, that was way too high, so, just as with the price, he immediately cut the interest rate in half, remarking on what a deal I was getting compared to their "standard" 20-some percent rate.

* The next morning when I reviewed the package of information he left me, I noticed that the part of the agreement specifying the products and services that I was getting, for more than $15, 000, said only "Roof"! There was no itemization of the specific system and materials I had chosen.

* I realized that I had started out asking if they could patch one leak over my garage, and the next thing I know, I've been sold an entire roof replacement. Even if I thought the whole roof should be addressed, the building code would allow me to simply tack another layer of shingles on top of the single one that's on there.

* Finally, I discovered that he had left his clipboard and calculator in my living room. I suspect this was a tactic to create an excuse for coming back and twisting my arm if I attempt to recind the agreement, although I haven't gotten the expected follow-up call/visit yet.

Needless to say, I am now sick to my stomach and plan to cancel immediately. The Better Business Bureau gives this outfit an A+ rating (their very top), and I haven't had time to confirm whether or not the offer was reasonable, assuming the quality would be as outstanding as he promised. But the whole process he went through in order lead me into signing an agreement to buy a very, very costly job that I don't need, and then trying to seal it with a promise that I wouldn't back out STINKS LIKE A PILE OF DEAD RATS.

P.S. - Just noticed something else shady as I reviewed the documents I signed. The form specifying the terms of the financing agreement doesn't mention the salesman's promise to waive the first 5 or 10 payments (I don't recall how many exactly), and it doesn't describe the terms in any form I've ever seen--and I've had four mortgages and dozens of credit cards over the years. It doesn't specify the periodic interest rate, the frequency of payments, the total number of payments, or the total amount I'm paying over the life of the loan.

I can't believe they're getting away with this. But worse, I can't believe I was dumb enough to sign it in the first place. The guy let me ask all the questions I wanted, hoping 1) I'd convince myself I was getting a good deal on a quality job, and 2) I'd eventually become so mentally exhausted that I'd overlook all the loopholes in the contracts. I'm embarrassed to admit that it worked, but I'm channeling that shame into determination--and GETTING OUT IMMEDIATELY!

This company is beyond shady they are extremely crooked. Unfortunately we opened the door when a salesperson claimed to be in the area. Do not give them your information, the harassment of phone calls are through the day and night. The sales pitch is extremely long but do not be fooled by the nice salesperson at first that offers you a great deal if u sign day of. Once they know you are credit worthy they try to obligate you to financing you never discussed. If you have a bad feeling please believe it and go with your gut, there work ethic is very questionable. If there is a company that represents what you do not want to deal with...it would be them. This experience has been very eye opening and quite ridiculous at the same time. The calls continue and they change there story each call whether its the new price they want to offer, financing changes anything they can think of. Stay Away, there are many companies that do the right thing by there clients and this is clearly not one of them. Please Beware!

Power Home Remodeling sales forced on home owner. false terms and conditions!

I know its long, but please read in full to understand, thanks!

I was close to getting the siding and everything done on the outside ( facade, trim etc.) And i got a quote of $51, 000. That’s when I said politely said NO THANKS!
Then he said, "BUT wait, today only you can get it for $26, 000 bucks, complete, done, out the door!" So i told him to write it up so i can see the payments and terms, so he sat back down for another hour and wrote it up, and here is what he originally said. The loan was going to be $407 a month for 72 months (6 years). We spread it out through two loans, a GE and a wells Fargo, at $187 a month for 72 months and 220 a month for 72 months. In the end it was a grand total of $29, 304, including the loans interest. . I agreed since i knew i could afford it at that rate and term length ($407 a month for 72 months aka. 6 years)

A few days went by and i got a phone call from there " finance guru", telling me that the sales guy messed up and that my new payment would be spread out over the two loans like before BUT..., the loan was to NOW be $170 a month for 108 months (or 9 years) and the WF loan was going to be $250 a month for 59 months. now I knew right then and there they were trying to play me. Here’s how…
If you take the "Original" quote and agreement that I agreed to of $29, 304 in total and calculated there "new" term lay out then the grand total was now $33, 110. That’s a $3, 804 difference! Remember the cost to do my house was only $26, 000!
So I asked how the interest went from $3, 304 to $7, 110? He had no good answer!

What made me very angry is that he kept saying it was a "minor detail", and "its not a big deal"... "Must have been overlooked". That’s a difference of almost 4 grand, that’s a “minor detail” to them? Come on…
Now if the company took the hit since they messed up and kept my interest at the $3, 304 like before then I would have continued with the job, but over the next 2 days, and talking to 5 different people, it still was no good. Not only did they not admit fault to such a lie, but also they wanted to extend my loan term from 72 to 108 months. That’s 3 years longer! Also they could not tell me why my interest basically doubled from the original quote.

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!
POWER WINDOWS AND SIDING IS A RIP OFF!

These guys are [censor]! They did two jobs for us a front window and siding. With the window I'm having issues with the pane is sinking I called them and they said it was the window it self not the insulation and because the window manufacture is now out of business I would have to buy the window myself ($1, 400). There is nothing wrong with this window.
The siding looks as if its buckling so I called them and they say they sent someone out to look at it and they determined that it was my neighbors sun porch that was causing this. I informed them that my Neighbor doesn't have a sun porch than it changed from their large bay window to my car windshield which conveniently isn't covered.

The Truth

About Me
Full Disclosure: I was an installer / sub contractor for Power Windows from 2009 to the beginning of 2010 in Northern NJ area. Leaving them was the best thing I ever did, I now have a great show room in Bergen County NJ and no longer have the need to sub-contract for them. I was raised in the window business and I'm a true professional when it comes to this business.

Installation
First of they do hire off of Craigslist and that is how we found them. The salesman claim that the installers go through a tremendous amount of training is BS, they just make sure you know what your doing before your a regular. One of the first things Michael (who runs the install department in NJ) said to me "We tell the home owners that your an employee, I hope that's not a problem". Obviously, that's how much they care about the customer. They also make the installers buy the materials (caulking, coil, trim nails, insta-trim) from them, especially that stupid blue white caulking that doesn't even match the window color. At one point they started refusing to tell the installers what there schedules was, so the installer would still come to work with a full crew and give them one or two windows, which leaves the sub loosing money for the day because he has to still pay his employees.

Price
The price they are charging is a joke. I sell vinyl windows furnished and installed that are similar in quality if not better for $350 dollars with Low-E and Argon to qualify for a tax rebate and an extra hundred a window if it is a lead job (pre 1978 home with lead paint). There siding and roofing prices are even worse, on average they are slightly less then double the industry norm.

Salesman
They are very unversed when it comes to the installation. They are high pressure which now in days obvious still works for them but I do not think that's the way business should be done. If you notice the salesman takes very broad measurements because he has no clue what the real measurements will or should be. A lot of times the salesman comes to the job to quote on quote check on the installation, reality is they are there to sell you more ridiculously priced products.

Measure Tech
These are the guys that come make the final measurements and make sure the salesman didn't sell you something that can't be done. For the most part these are guys that at one time worked for themselves as a subcontractor or on a crew. They are in this low paid position because they were not good enough at higher paying job as an installer and simply couldn't hack it. Also they use them at 28k to 35k a year (full time)because it would cost a lot more for a real pro to run around all day measuring windows. There have been many jobs that they have messed up on the measurements where it was my job to fix it by doing extra work to properly fit a poorly measured window They also let the installer know what moldings the job needs, after awhile I stopped going to Home Depot to by the moldings in the morning because half the time the were wrong and would wait until I got to the job to see what I would need.

My Opinion
The company is a sales and marketing company and structured that way, It doesn't matter what they were selling. A company like this will eventually fail once enough word of mouth gets around. I did not like my experience working for them due to have having one or two good jobs a week and the remaining being jobs that made me unprofitable for the remaining days of the week besides them being unorganized. I wish these people no further success and every buyer out there should always see what there reputable local window and door company has to offer them. Leaving them has giving me more time to concentrate on my own business and we are doing very well with giving people a great product at a good price

Thanks For Reading

Rich

Lasareath, your statement " Maybe 50% of the posts here are made by one person. ", is incorrect, it should have read as "the same person", therefore it deems you inelligable to really continue to make a fuss about any other writers grammar.

Secondly, laughing at your own ridiculas post when you told Tammy (who is a good person) to smack herself in the face was really stupid. If you are as smart as you think you are, the facts given and the percentage calculations made by the OP make it more than obvious that a scam is in the making, how you can discern the OP was not telling the truth because the word their/there was used incorrectly. also, you need to learn the difference between a typo and an incorrect spelling, it is very easy to pick up. also, I read my emails any time I would like, if you dont like it then...Pucker up and kiss my irish [censor]!

This post is to all the people out there who make purchases with a company and decide to have it financed.

I worked in the finance dept for a company, the companies who offer financing have nothing to do with the interest, however power windows and siding should not be telling you anything as far as how long the loan would be for because they won't know until the approval comes from the lender.

What our company does is we have a straight talk finance form that states what the APR could range from. Since the sales Reps do not know your credit history they can not make any promises on financing and any company that does make promises before they get a response back from a lender, well they are in for a lot of trouble.

You are a [censor], I am not talking about your actual age I am talking about your mental age. Just because someone makes a misteak on the difference between their and there or even to, too & two that does not make their statement any less true.

There are a lot of people who make that same misteak. These people, as far as I know do not walk on water and are allowed to make misteaks.

So in your theory anyone who refers the word there instead of their is the same person. That is just plain stupid.

I never said it bothered me I am just stating the facts, and if you don't like that you can just bend over and shove your head back uup you *ss where it belongs.

Power Home Remodeling don't let these people in your home

I was approached in my front yard by a very nice young guy with a company polo shirt and clipboard. He told me that they had done some work in the neighborhood and asked me if I wanted a free estimate for new windows. I said sure, not knowing what I was getting into. He placed me on the phone with a company rep who scheduled an appointment the following evening for 7:30pm. The salesman arrived and unpacked a variety of equipment and launched into a 2 hour long (literally 2 hours) sales pitch. I interjected several times asking him to get to the point, we had a long day, had not eaten dinner yet, etc., but there was no deterring this guy from the obvious script that the company gave him. After an eternity when he finally got to their numbers, the prices were astronomical. We turned him down, at which point he suddenly came up with several discounts that he could apply, including a low rate that only applied if we committed that night. I asked him to leave us with the estimate and we would be in touch. He replied that he could not leave a written estimate, as it was against company policy. Also I wanted to know where the alleged recent work in our neighborhood was done so I could take a look. Of course he could not tell me, and I now suspect that was also a lie.

DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE IN YOUR HOUSE. THEY WILL STAY FOR 2 HOURS WITH A BAG OF TRICKS. ANY COMPANY THAT PROMISES YOU A FREE ESTIMATE BUT THEN WILL NOT GIVE IT IN WRITING, PLUS HAS A LOWER PRICE THAT ONLY APPLIES IF YOU COMMIT THAT NIGHT IS SHADY, SHADY, SHADY.

Salesman was a nice young guy though. You gotta feel bad b/c these are some of the only jobs out there right now.

Only two hours? I listened endlessly... two reps showed up and one said nothing and the other talked non-stop for over 4 hours . Always went back to a very well rehearsed dissertation. The "inspection" segment was over an hour..how long does it take to measure from the outside. THEN they had to measure every window from the inside.? Insisted on going upstairs into a bedroom to gain access to roof. I did not want these guys going through the bedrooms. The "estimate" could have been done in 20 minutes. The bulk of the time was an endless high pressure brainwashing attempt. IF you have good products and good workmanship you do not have to spend hours overselling the company.

Poor Poor… despicable work… broken glass left in my home, missing window handles. debris left hidden under our bed. Broken glass went into my husband foot twice. I paid for 11 windows only 10 came. Two months they still have brought the 11th window. Please do not use them for anything. They hire cheap day laborers to do the work. Power windows suck! zero recommendations for this unsatisfied customer

This business ( or so-called business) has been calling my house several times a day - I have repeatedly told them to put me on the no call list. They don't listen.

This is harassment and if they want to fight it out in a legal battle, I am more than happy to oblige.

Shameful idiots

My “free estimate” was four hours of a work day. They insisted my partner be in attendance. So we both lost money that day. In the end I just felt like a fool for not thinking to ask how long the sales pitch, I mean estimate, would take, but it’s validating to see I’m not the only one.

Got a call about a week after I declined the initial estimate including discount after discount (sorry, but $1k off a $39k price does not make me any less house broke). They said they’ve “found more discounts!” and wanted to know when their consultant can come by to discuss them. I told them it doesn’t matter how much of a discount you got me, unless you offer $5k or less I literally can’t afford it. They talked backwards for a minute. We ended up in a yes ladder and they were like “ok great, so is evening or morning better for you?” No means no.

If their sales techniques (though, they obviously work for a lot of people, I’ll give them that) weren’t so sketchy they might have actually made a customer out of me in a couple years.

I wish that I had not let them in my house. They charged me an outrageous fee to replace my roof! I can't understand how I got looped into this deal in which it appears I'll be paying for this roof job for the next 12 years As a senior citizen, I don't think that I'll live twelve more years! Although their quote was twice as high as any I've ever had. I never signed the cancellation paperwork, but it appears I'm stuck as well as being sick over the manner of installation.

They ruined my heirloom flower bed and my late mother's iris' did not bloom at all this year due to them loading their equipment on them. When the work was finished, I complained because they had not replaced several pieces of rotted wood only to be told that was not part of the roof. After much discussion, they finally replaced one of the 2x4's. I am so very hurt and discouraged over this. The total roof replacement was not what I needed after all. They said that they cared about their customers, but not so much that they would state the truth about what the actual problem was. Instead, they chose to inflate the cost and place me in a position of eternal payments with a roof that has nothing more than any other roof shingles.

I am sick and tired of people/companies who will tell half-truths and manipulate information to get the almighty dollar.

Sounds like the people that are sticking up for this P.O.S. company are paid by them or work for them. NO way in hell is this comany any good. They go to fairs and bug people into signing up for estimates and what not. You say no and they ask why and when you try to walk away they are like bla bla bla. Sorry not a good business they are scam artists.

They came, they left, they called and then they said "YOU ARE PROBABLY NOT THE KIND OF CUSTOMER WE WANT" didn't know how to reply to that so I just hung up the phone I suggest that you just don't open your door or close it quickly!
