Office Depot / replacement of broken ativa 08cc03 cross-cut shredder

I originally purchased shredder in Dec. 2015. It broke and I sent it back. I had to pay for shipping. It was replaced. Now the replacement model has stopped working. They are informing me that the machine is no longer under the warranty information they state that the cutter blades are covered for 3 years. How can they tell what is wrong with machine if they have not looked at it? They will not issue a Return Authorization Number which I need to return the unit.
