Customer service
I have not been lucky in my finding the love of my life. I have went through multiple heartbreaks and being in toxic relationships. I have been skeptical using a dating agency, until, I engaged Lunch Actually. I have told myself that this is my last resort to find a partner. After going through a few dates, there are misses and hits for the matches that I have met. However, at least there are no bad dates. I like that I have a human being speaking with me after the date and it is a human being making the matches for me. I am still going on dates and hopefully I will be able to find the One soon.

Poor response & waste of money
I have experienced most of the complaints shared by others above. Biggest regret is to not have read these reviews earlier. Have to call and beg for response from their office and the calls always come back at least 1 day later or longer, usually with the same excuses. They don’t have the matches and after more than a year, they have only arranged 3 matches (each time only after I have chased them, a “great match” will miraculously appear. If you don’t chase them, they will not be actively searching for you. It is a waste of money and drain of your energy, as the process will make you very angry that you have paid so much (I paid VIP). The team is unable to explain to me what sort of VIP service they have provided for me.
And I agree with one of the comments above, everything was nice and sweet in the beginning, but after the first date the relationship with LA just turns into a NIGHTMARE simply because they just either ignore you or because they simply cannot deliver and have to come up with all sorts of excuse and delay tactics to cover up for the lack of quality and service. Save your money and dignity, stay away from Lunch Actually.

Another side of the story - found someone through them
Their customer service is amazing, very professional and quite friendly. I’ll recommend them wholeheartedly over any other online or dating services as they go extra yard to verify and ensuring the couples don’t fret over profile details to begin with. Their job is often challenging as they’ll need to handle it sensitively. Thanks to all their team, especially the consultants that I worked with - Andrea and Mabel, they’ve been fantastic, I’ve met my amazing life partner, thanks to them.
Desired outcome: Was stunned by the negativity and since I had a positive and successful experience, just wanted to share my positive story and another side.

Dating service
First of all, the dating service provider, Lunch Actually charges you at least 5- 7k SGD to sign up for a basic membership.
The more you pay the more ahead you will become in the queue. Not sure if this is really true as I had to wait sometimes 2 months to go on a date.
The agent tries to influence you according to their pool and changed my original choices.
The dates I received were all at least 15 years plus compared to my age.
One thing is true they ticked the boxes on paper but you end up meeting with introverts, alcoholics, divorced when it is not even within expectation and completely opposite of your natural being. Honestly it is not just about the money but a waste of time!
They explained me a match is only after 1 date but in contract it is after accepting going on a date. For the first match they pick a very appealing guy then for the rest anyone they could find. Suddenly that you went for the first date they do not even care at all!
Paying such monies for so [censored] service seriously is non-sense. I expected something more sophisticated, elegant and most importantly quality in the way they at least deal with you. They would not even bother calling you to give feedback of the date you went on. If you ask for a refund well don’t even try. They don’t even realise how disgusting it is to take someone’s money to find them love. There are moments in your life when you want to try everything but if you are tired of trying please best if you just make an effort to do it yourself. They don’t even have a pool of candidates and the worst ever agency to receive service from..
STAY AWAY from LA even if you don’t have time, you are tired of trying, no point losing your money for this unsophisticated and truly disappointing agency.
To be honest.. I feel completely ripped off.. But at the same time.. I hope they turn over a new leaf after reading this
Dear Readers,
First and foremost, a few qualifications:
1) I have tried every means to reach out to Lunch Actually to discuss about my feedback as diplomatically and as peacefully as possible. Unfortunately, they did not take me seriously, which leads me no choice but write this publicly.
2) I am not all the type of person who will write negative feedback about another person or company publicly. I understand that life is hard, and business is tough. We should do what we can to support one another. I had no choice but to do this because despite of my most genuine and diplomatic efforts, it seems that the company took my courtesy for granted instead of trying to solve it in the most genuine manner.
3) I am a paid member of Lunch Actually Malaysia. I cannot say whether the same horrible experience is felt across all Lunch Actually establishments globally. This write-up is limited only to my experience with Lunch Actually Malaysia.
4) Their membership is overly priced based on Malaysian standard for an average working person. It pains me to see that consumer are not getting what they paid for, and the company is not taking any sort of responsibility for their action. I write this with the hope that it will save the hard-earned money of many hard-working Malaysians out there.
Below is my experience:
1) Before Signup Experience
a. Lunch Actually office in Malaysia is in Bangsar when I first joined. The moment you walk in, there will be a sales representative to lead you into a room, which is painted in soothing purple color. There will be two chairs, one for you, and one for the consultant. In between the chair, there is on small table which has a book written by the founder Violet Lim. The book gives the impression that they know what they are doing. After all, the founder manages to write a book about it. The surrounding creates an “aura” of confidence in them that they know what they are doing, or so it seems.
b. Once seated down, Lunch Actually sales representative will tell you that the whole idea of Lunch Actually is to help busy professionals look for life partner and database consist of high-quality working professionals which ensure quality in the life partner you are looking for. This is exactly what I am looking for because I am a working professional who has no time to meet potential life partners.
c. The sale representative will go on to tell you that “many” people have found their life partner through Lunch Actually. Why did I put inverted coma “many” is because it turns out to be far from the truth, which I will explain in subsequent section based on my experience. Again, another marketing line to keep you hooked. The sales presentative went on to tell me that they are very careful when it comes to candidates’ selection and not everyone can join. Again, another marketing gimmick to create the sense of scarcity. This is far from the truth.
d. Then, comes the closing sales pitch. The sale representative then went on to say that the price to join is RM8,000 for 10 dates, which translates to a whopping RM800 per date! At that moment, any prospect will start to back off. Then, the sales representative will then go on to say that the high price ensures only the best candidates join. Otherwise, they cannot guarantee the quality. Then, they continue to say that the price has risen from RM7,000 to RM8,000 and it is expected to rise further due to high number of joiners. Another marketing gimmick to create the sense of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out).
e. Then, I asked whether there is any guarantee that I will be able to find my life partner. This is where the sales representative said that there is no need one because of high satisfaction rate. I got “conned” by all these marketing gimmick. So, I took the plunge and paid RM8,000 for it. Looking back, it was dumbest thing I ever did. Even job headhunter does not charge their client until a right candidate is found! What a sucker!
2) After Signup
a. First Red Flag
Right after you signed up and paid for the membership, of course, there is a great sense of excitement where you want to start immediately. I paid a visit to their office the moment they have a slot available to discuss about the next step. I was extremely excited, but the excitement did not last long. Instead of going through in deeper detail the type of life partner I was looking for, like what a job headhunter will do to understand from their client what kind of candidates their clients are looking for, the dating consultant (which is what they called themselves) told me to try looking for candidates through dating applications like Tinder, OK Cupid, Coffee Meets Bagel.
I was dumbfounded. The whole idea of paying RM8,000 is so that I can outsource the search to Lunch Actually as it was tailored made for busy professionals who have no time to find a potential life partner. Now, they told me to go find it myself through dating applications. If that is the case, why on earth do I need to engage in their service?! When I told them about my disappointment, they told me it is to practice. Practice what? How to date? If I need to be someone else instead of myself during a date, isn’t it faking it?
Then I asked the dating consultant, if I can do it myself, then, why do I need to pay RM8,000 to Lunch Actually? They didn’t have an answer. My guess is that they hope you will find your life partner through these dating applications so that they can pocket the RM8,000. I could be wrong, but there is no basis to see it in a different light at present.
b. Second Red Flag
I went home extremely disappointed after the first meeting. I thought we will be using the time to discuss constructive way forward. I thought, maybe I was too harsh. So, perhaps let’s give Lunch Actually the benefit of the doubt and let them do their work.
So, the waiting the game starts. One month turns into two months, two turns into four. It was complete radio silence, not a single email, not a single phone call, not a single text message. Nothing! I think it was after six months, that I decided to give them a call and ask them, how are things progressing. That is when they start to panic and quickly told me that they have been busy looking for the right candidate for me and they finally found one. I was thinking to myself, before I signed up, you told me that you have a good pool of quality candidates. If that is true, why does it take so long to find one? My guess is that they have no good pool of candidates at all, and they are frantically searching for anyone to sign up so that they can push it to me.
When I saw a brief write up on the candidates, my jaw dropped. It was nothing more than what a teenager will write about what he or she like and dislikes. There is no write-up about the person, example, the person’s background, the person’s past, what the person is looking for in a relationship, how matching is the candidate to my profile, etc. None!
I was disappointed to say the least! I call them to explain to me, what is the basis or methodology which they use to select the candidates? They said it is based on matching preferences. I was like, how is that different from doing it myself for free through a simple computer matching program? Where are the background checks? Where is the in-depth research of the person? Look, I said, this is RM800 per date and this is the kind of quality Lunch Actually is providing for RM800 per date, which is no different than a secondary schoolboy or schoolgirl homework? I was seriously fuming! Again, I gave Lunch Actually the benefit of the doubt.
c. Third Red Flag
Let’s revisit the sales representatives claim: high number of quality candidates. Let’s test it to see whether the claim hold water.
In a total of 5 years’ time span, only 3 dates were offered to me, but I signed up for 10 dates. To put in perspective, that is 1 date in every 1.5 years! For simplicity, you can say that you must wait for 2 years to get 1 date! And mind you, if you do not chase Lunch Actually for dates, they will go quietly into the dark, and keep numb, hopefully you will not bother them, and they pocket the RM8,000 paid quietly. So, how is the quality of these 3 dates?
On my first date, I was introduced to this Eurasian girl. Now, when you say Eurasian, you will expect that one of the parents is European and the other is Asian. When I showed up for the date, it turns out to be Indian with some European ancestry. The information is so misleading! I can also argue that some way along my ancestry line, my super great grandparents are Vikings! I was dumbfounded, not because I was expecting a Eurasian, but due to the degree of misinformation provided by Lunch Actually. I have nothing against the candidate but just appalled by the whole experience provided by Lunch Actually.
On my second date, I was introduced to a Chinese girl who is an entrepreneur. She obviously had a bad day during our date. She walked into the restaurant, breathing heavily. When I finally sat her and calm the atmosphere. She finally blurted out, saying that she had no choice but to sack her most reliable salesperson. The obvious move is of course to ask why the drastic move? She then went on to complain how her most reliable salesperson is not carrying out her duty exactly the way she wanted it. I was thinking to myself: if I do not perform up to her expectation as her husband, exactly the way she wants it, I am obviously going to be “sacked” as well! What a control freak! I quickly find an excuse to leave as early as I can. She is one rotten apple but Lunch Actually told me she is a good one! Really?!
On my third date, I was introduced to another Chinese girl working in the corporate world. She was nice to talk to but halfway through the conversation, she told me about her dream husband, how he will buy her a nice car, they will live in a big house, go for holidays, and have children. She also told me that once she is married, she dreamt never to work again, and her husband will provide her with a good life. Then, she started telling me how none of her ex came close to what she expects, and she hopes to get married as soon as possible. I was thinking to myself: either she is a gold digger, the perfect liability or both! She obviously thinks too highly of herself! I was totally turn off halfway into the date and I was just getting ready to run for my life! I called Lunch Actually after that: why kind of candidate is this!?
I was fuming after all these experiences. So, I called to complain and requested to speak to the manager of my dating consultant. As I was giving my feedback to the manager through the phone, I could hear her typing as loud as possible on the keyboard, to create the impression that was diligently taking notes to show how serious she is about my feedback. As if! How pretentious!
Since I will never know the truth, I concluded that it is NOT entirely true to say that Lunch Actually are for high quality working professionals who have no time to find their soulmates. It is mostly for “rejects” who could not find any dates on their own and therefore, came to seek “professional" help. What a far cry from what I was told by the salesperson!
3) Conclusion
Five years have passed, but nothing has changed. Despite my relentless effort to reach out to Lunch Actually to see how we can work together in the most diplomatic manner possible; I see that I am the only one pulling my side of the bargain.
I asked myself, why is Lunch Actually behaving like this? Since I will never know the truth, I conclude that Lunch Actually do not have high number of quality candidates in the database to begin with. Hence, there is nothing to offer to clients. Hence, they continuously shy away from taking calls from clients. In fact, they hope that the client will never call to follow up, so that they can sweep the problem under the carpet and pocket the exorbitantly high membership fees.
If it is true that Lunch Actually do not have a high-quality database to begin with, at least have the moral decency to either refund the membership fees or reduce the price to match what can be offered. To continue charging high fees when the output could not justify for it only makes it a complete ripped off.
So, for those out there who plans to join Lunch Actually, my recommendation is that it will be better for you take that RM8,000 and invest it in yourself. Learn a new skill, invest in a self-improvement course, of better still, spend that RM8,000 with your family and friends, whom you know, will always be there for you.
Again, I have tried everything I could to reach out to Lunch Actually. There was no constructive response. Each time I call, they will give me this standard excuse: “no suitable candidate at the moment”, which is nothing more than a polite excuse to send me away per my perception.
It pains me to write this and put this on the media as it not me at all to put anyone in public shame, so let me start off with an apology. However, what other choice do I have, if this is the only way to get their attention?
I hope Lunch Actually take this public feedback positively and come out stronger out from this. Instead of taking it negatively, by finding the whistle blower or launching a string of PR rebuttal, it will be more beneficial to sit down with your team and simply ask, “if this is the perception and feedback we are getting, how can we reinvent our business model, to steer things back in the right direction?”
Lunch Actually can choose to take this feedback either professionally or personally. I hope they make the right choice. If you read the book written by the founder Violet Lim, she has a lot to offer with her technical-know how in dating. However, the results are not speaking for itself. Instead, there are quite a number negative feedback floating on the Internet. Obviously, the existing business model is not working as the result is not speaking for itself. So, what must change to create the ultimate customer experience?
Well, that is RM 8,000 lost for me but let it not be a lost for humanity if it can help everyone improve. I hope you have a good read of my experience with Lunch Actually. Until then, I am signing off and closing this chapter on my life.
Take care everyone.
Desired outcome: None. There is nothing they can do in the short-term. I just hope they turn over a new leaf after reading this.

Dating agency
Hi,
I have similar bad experience as well. After 1st date with those dates, they will said meet again. But that's not true. They will said not suitable for each. I am not sure is it my problem or their problem. Those dates who acted like atas and don't even have the look. I just wondering LA is it truthful how they match us based on our criteria upon signing up with the details provided.
My 2 cents thought.
Kinds,
Steven

I didn't know it work this way just giving us an app and wait for people to be match or to request date from us. This is no different with all other apps in the market. It won't work the same scam will appear.. No honest pple as well because not even verify anything we submitted.
1st week into it I realise I got cheated I didn't know it was something like that and approach for a refund but was rejected on the spot. Nearly 6 mths into it.. Nothing happen at all cos its just same like all apps.
Pls refund my 6 mths fee since I am not getting anything out of it.
personalised matchmaking service
I wish I saw this article earlier:
https://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/lunch-actually-dating-agency-unethical-behaviour-expensive-and-hard-selling-c831155.html
So basically I fell victim to esync & signed up for their VIP service but was treated worse than a dirt.
Signed up in March after the pleasant staff by the name of Aaron spoke to me on the phone & followed up very promptly with any qns I had & even more promptly when it comes to payment. Then everything changed.
Post payment, zero news & follow up. I had to contact him to ask what's going on after almost close to a month. He promised to check & someone will contact me the same day. Nothing...
The following week I email him to tell him no one contacted me as promised. No reply! So I waited for another week & sent him another email to let him know that the silence is not acceptable. Since no service was rendered, I want a refund.
A lady (Mabel) then texted me saying they just tried to reach me but wasn't able to. Big lie! I told her I have my hp right next to me now & it didn't ring nor do I have any missed call. I asked her what was the number she dialled. She was very quick to say "oh I called the wrong no." What nonsense!
And the Aaron guy dare not call me after I said I want a refund? It has been a frustrating experience becos they tried to pass me from 1 staff to another. 1 month of MIA is not acceptable & definitely not VIP service.
To keep it short (other short pissing episodes in btwn), I said I only want to speak to the person in charge. They said she was overseas & only back on Fri & she will call me on Sat. No call on Sat!
:/ after she (Rose Wan, Country Head) finally called, not helpful at all! Kept telling me no refund after 3 days. Come on, who set the policy? They themselves! And after I told her how her staff had lied about being unable to reach me on several occassions, she didn't offer any follow up action. "I hear u." alone is not helpful! I even asked how come when selling me package & asking for payment so easy to reach me but when it comes to providing service always cannot reach me? And there has been no missed call, no email from them! So what's the "unable to reach u" all about? All she can offer is to upgrade my package to Lunch Actually which is supposed to be more premium. Why would I want any service from them after the horrifying experience? *Angry much*
Enough of wasting my breath on a Country Head who only knows how to say no refund & upgrade, I asked for the owner's contact which of course she refused to give. So I told her ok if you are not giving it to me & I managed to get it from my own source, it's not going to be very nice. She said she will email me to see how they can help. I asked her what kind of help is she referring to... she said the free upgrade (which i have already told her many times that's not what i want & that's not helpful to me). But oh well, like a broken record, that was what she could repeat over & over again - no refund after 3 days, free upgrade... She even had the cheek to say even though that's not what I wanted, that's what she could offer & she'll still have to write the same to me. Exasperating!
The email came... with an email address of the founder/ owner Violet Lim. She said the owner is fully aware of what has transpired.
I email Violet. Oh wow! The same attitude again - zero response! That's how the company train their staff - ignoring the customer & MIA after getting money in.
How can this type of trashy company be accredited by SDN, a govt affiliated body? How much money have they scam people of?
Unethical behaviour, expensive and hard selling

Please do NOT join Lunch Actually Dating Agency
1) Lunch Actually (LA) claims to match you with someone 'holistically' and taking into account your "preferences". They claim that the only thing they do not guarantee is chemistry. It is NOT true. While most of the time, LA members are truthful abt their personal details, LA will LIE about it in order to 'create' a match. They can LIE abt anything just to push out a date. Eg, if you say you don't want to meet someone who drinks heavily, LA will LIE to you and cheat you into going on a date which they 'have painstakingly looked through and is a high match'. One date cost a few hundred dollars, and you end up meeting someone you will not even consider. Your date also ends up wasting his/her time as he/she had given truthful details to LA without knowing that LA had lied to you. Your preferences are not important to LA. Your money is.
2) LA has more female than male members. Ladies can wait up to 8 months in between dates. Man gets one or two dates per month. Chances are, the female members will end up getting hitched by someone through their own social circle and forfeit the rest of their package (that means LA gets to keep the money). Although it seems like the man has a wider pool of selection, male members are likely to end up going on dates with people who are poorly matched.
3) LA allows members to request for a full refund within 7 days after going on their first date. If you are not happy with your first date, you can get all your money back. So, you are likely to get someone decent on your first date. And GOOD LUCK for your subsequent dates. You first date may be someone you are looking for as LA may have matched him/her according to your criteria just to give you a false good impression. BUT you may not be matched according to your date's preferences. So you will still end up wasting a date because the other party is not interested in you.
Some unlucky people (possibly those who appear nice and received decent/good feedback from their first few dates) will be unofficially 'selected' by LA (without their knowledge or consent of course) to be the first date or 'service recovery' date for other LA members. It means that whenever LA gets a new/difficult customer, they will pick this 'selected' candidate out to go on a date with their new/difficult members. If you are granted the 'honor' of being 'handpicked' by LA to do the 'job', you are likely to end up with dates with new members or angry people who have just complained abt LA. (since LA gets a lot of complains). To make things worse, if the LA member is someone LA knows that you will not be interested in, LA will either LIE to you about their particulars or keep you in the dark. Eg, Member A complains about LA or his/her previous bad date. LA will do service recovery by giving member A a free make up date. Then LA will go to their "nice members list" and pick member B to go on a date with member A. However, member A is a smoker and LA knows that there's no way member B will agree to go out with someone who smokes. So LA will either LIE to member B or keep member B in the dark. In other words, LA makes use of their members to help them make more money from other people.
4) Whenever LA's lies were found out and exposed, they will either insist that it was the member who had given them the wrong information (which is not always true) or they will brush it off by offering a free make up date. There's no point taking up the make up date because the same problem will repeat.
5) LA has 'highly trained' consultants with high turnover rate. The consultants seem to be ONLY trained to be polite, politically correct when communicating with their members and pushing members to sign up for their workshops. They are not genuine about helping their members get a good date. The matching is done using a computer system anyway. Members' details and/or preferences are manually tweaked or almost completely changed in order to increase the number of matches (drastically). Any Tom or Harry can be matched to Jane or Mary.
LA charges higher prices than all other dating agencies in Singapore. Save your money and time. Do NOT join LA.

http://women.asiaone.com/women/relationships/dating-agency-lunch-actually-under-fire-expensive-packages
1. Lunch Actually is the most expensive dating agency in singapore.
As at year 2014, they charge $2100 for 3 dates, $2300 for 5 dates and $2600 for 10 dates.
2. Lunch Actually refuse to tell you their price when you call them to enquire.
They give you all kinds of rubbish replies like our price package is dependant on the type of partner you are looking for, ask you go for the initial consultation than they will see which platform is more suitable for you.
Anyone with abit of common sense knows this is nonsense.
If you say the price package is dependant on the type of partner you look for, does it mean that if I look for a old & ugly partner it will be very cheap, if I look for a partner that is young & pretty than it will be very expensive?
As for the platforms, basically they only have the expensive personalised matchmaking services or their esynrochology.
Once you go down for their initial consultation they will hard sell you. If you say it is too expensive than they will hard sell you their esynrochology services.
3. Lunch Actually package comes with free image workshop and coaching workshop.
This is actually just part of their attempt to sell you more package and earn more money.
When you go for the free image workshop the consultant will hard sell you the 6 hours personalised shopping trip at $888.
If you say its too expensive she will hardsell you the $488 for 3 hours personalised shopping trip.
During the personalised shopping trip, basically the image consultant meet you at somerset mrt station and than bring you to a few shops like Ben Sherman etc and tell you what type of clothes suits you.
You do not need to pay such a expensive amount for this. You can go into Ben Sherman or any retail shop and the sales staff there can give you free advise on what type of clothes suits you.
When you go for the free coaching workshop, she will try to hardsell you the coaching package at the most expensive of $3900.
If you say its too expensive than she will slowly go down to the $2900, $1900 and than finally the $900 coaching package.
If you sign up the $900 package, it just comes with a free online video for you to watch, than a 1 hour coaching session, a courage warmup session & a meaningful dinner.
During the 1 hour coaching session, you will not have the opportunity to ask any questions because she will be busy trying to hardsell and pester you to upgrade your package to the most expensive of $3900 so she can hit her quota and earn more commission.
The courage warmup session is basically useless & nonsense.
The coach bring you to plaza singapore to approach the opposite gender on the streets to talk to them.
Anyone with abit of common sense knows this is useless and a total waste of time.
Meaningful dinner is not a speedating dinner. There is no rotation of seats.
They say is for you to practise your communication skills by talking to the participants which is basically nonsense and a waste of time.
The most expensive $3900 coaching package they basically just increase the number of useless meaingful dinner and courage warmup sesssions.
They also say you are entitled to 1 year of unlimited coaching.
Sounds like a very good deal, but in reality it is not.
Lunch Actually opening hours is Monday to Saturday 10am to 7pm.
Obviously on weekdays you need to work and you can’t book a appointment to go down.
Their saturdays are always fully booked and you need to book in advance.
You can roughly only get to book 1 saturday a month for a 1 hour session which basically means in 1 year, you book 12 sessions which total to 12 hours of coaching sessions for $3900.
Now does this sound like a good deal?
4. Lunch Actually Consultants are trained to give alot of excuses.
If you say you have to wait very long for matches, they say it is because they are trying to find good matches for you.
After the 1st date, you have up to 7 days which you can terminate your membership and get a refund.
But it is definetly not a 100% refund!
There will be a deduction of $550 for admin fees. If you have gone for the image workshop and/or coaching workshop there will be further deduction.
I am not sure of the exact amount of deduction but it is pretty expensive.
eg. You paid $2600 for 10 dates package. You decide to terminate after the 1st date.
You get refund of $2600 – $550 admin fees - image workshop - coaching workshop, You get just around 1k plus in refunds.
You are basically paying $550 for a 1 date with Lunch Actually!
Now, a typical speedating event that comes with lunch or dinner cost around $50.
You are better off spending your $550 to attend 10 speedating events that comes with free lunch or dinner, than to spend it on a 1 date with Lunch Actually!

Do NOT join eSynchrony
1) eSynchrony may seem like a cheaper option to Lunch Actually on the surface. But it is highly possible that you may end up paying just as much or even more per date. Unlike LA packages that goes by number of dates, eSynchrony packages goes by number of months. eSynchrony packages allows unlimited dates per month. The sad truth is, other than your first date, whatever subsequent matches you have approved will NOT be coordinated for you. Since you have paid a lower amount for eSynchrony as compared to Lunch Actually, the customer service level will be lower as well. eSynchrony has an even higher shortage of staff and almost all your queries and requests will not be attended to. LA consultants will still patronize you once in a blue moon though they do not give you any dates. eSynchrony consultants go Missing In Action. After both you and the other party have mutually approved the date (which can be done through clicking a button in the eSynchrony website), just like LA, the eSynchrony consultant is suppose to coordinate a time and book a restaurant for both of you to meet up. Since the consultant goes MIA, you will end up with multiple pending dates waiting for coordination in the system for months till your package expires. Eg, you buy a 4 month package but by the end of the 4th month, you only manage to go for 1 date (with 8 dates pending for coordination). Even though you are free to go on dates, you are not able to contact the consultant to arrange for the other 8 dates during the 4 months when your membership is still active. In the end, one eSynchrony date ends up being more expensive than one Lunch Actually date.
2) Your eSynchrony profile and criteria will probably be tweaked or almost completely changed just like what will happen if you join LA. eSynchrony requires you to do a lengthy personality test where you will then be matched to other members using the computer system. You will be able to see the number of matches immediately after you finish the test. Initially, you will be able to find around 20 to 30 matches. After about 2 months, the number of matches will suddenly shoot up to 300 to 400 overnight. And strangely, you will notice that a lot of the matches are way off the criteria you had set earlier on. Eg, you had set the criteria that you are not open to someone who has been married, someone of a different race or someone much much older than you. You will somehow be matched to all these people overnight. Congratulations, you have got a wild card! You might as well join a free online dating website since eSynchrony works almost exactly like that.
3) eSynchrony buffs up their membership number by retaining the expired members in their system and also people who did not pay for their membership. You are able to sign up an account under eSynchrony and do their personality test without paying. Once completed your profile will be in the system and you will be matched to other members. However, if you didn’t pay, you will not be able to go out on dates as you will not be able to view the profiles and your dates (they can view yours). Back to what was mentioned in point 2, you will find maybe like 20 to 30 matches after doing the personality test. Then you decided to pay for membership where you did the payment online. After paying up, you will get to view all the profiles. However, if you are unlucky, more than 70% of the matches either did not pay for membership or did not renew their membership (although their profile is still in the system). Some of the rest of the 30% may be inactive members and do not log in often. So in the end, you may be left with just 1 or 2 active members whom you are not interested in.
4) eSynchrony calls up existing Lunch Actually members to join them. Possibly those under LA’s “nice or attractive members list”. If these “nice or attractive members” sign up with eSynchrony, most probably, they will end up having their profiles and/or criteria tweaked to match up with more people. If a LA existing member signs up under eSynchrony without ‘invitation’, most likely their profile/criteria will be left alone and remain the same.
5) eSynchrony consultants can go MIA either from the beginning or midway. Most of the time, you will not be able to find any consultant. If you are lucky enough to get one, the consultant will try to arrange a date for you. After you have given her your free dates, the consultant goes missing. You will be left wondering if you should still keep your dates free or make alternative plans.
If you join eSynchrony, either you will end up with no dates at all, or you will reluctantly approve dates you are not really interested in since you have already paid. The percentage of no shows for eSynchrony is also higher than for LA.

I wish I had found this before falling victim to esynchrony scam. In my case, after signing up but before paying for membership, the site gave a false glimpse of what membership experience is like by sending seemingly good matches but of course you don't have a chance to get to know them unless you become a member. Once they trapped you, new matches also stopped being sent. The shortlisted matches from the initial list sent to me do not give an answer to my show of interest in meeting them (I suspect that they are either non-members or members that are no longer active). This is a really low and disgusting way to make a buck.

Ok, So I'm sure mine isn't the first topic on this company / program and it certainly won't be the last.
I probably will get flamed, and kicked in the groin but go easy on me please?
I signed this up after a breakup last year, proably a bad idea but couldn't it then, this was in December.
Sometime in Jan'16, I met someone amazing on my own and decided to "try and see how things work out".
Happy to say things are working really well with my girl.
Here, LunchActually plays a part.
So I signed up their package, it was 3k+, yes yes bloody expensive and after I signed it, I just tried not to think about it.
So one day they called, I just told them I found someone, well they appeared sincere enough to congratulate me.
But I told them to freeze my account until further notice.
So its been 6 months since I've been with my girl and things are pretty serious now. (I'm 31 no time to play play alrdy haha)
Dropped an email to LunchActually. Told them I wish to terminate the account. Based on agreement, they would take $800 for admin fees.
Well I found someone really special, not thru them but I was willing to not haggle over the $800.
But it takes them 6 - 8 weeks to handle a refund.
I don't know any other company that takes so long, but ok fine, maybe complex refund process.
This was on 3rd of June.
Fast forward to week beginning 27th June, 4 weeks, I did a follow up just to make sure no delays. They told me "Will follow up with you when the date gets closer", so at least I thought its already in motion.
This is the 6th week, dropped them another email and they said estimated early August.
Wtf?
Honestly I won't make a big fuss if it was a few hundred dollar refund, but we are talking 2.1k.
And right now I'm in need of the funds.
I have dropped 4 emails to the people in charge and have gotten no replies.
I have dropped an email to the [protected]@lunchactually and well no reply.
I'm frustrated and am stuck because as a consumer I can't do anything.
I feel like going to case but I'm wondering if there are others like me who suffered from poor services by them.
But as a general warning to others.
This company reeks. They are trying to sell Love and attach a big price tag to it.
I agree, the CEO must be laughing to the bank coz he's doing people a "Service".
You were warned.

every week sure got calls... think its because use lunchclick app last time
i block their number... about 3 so far... but they will juz call with another office number or use handphone numbers to call
Soon, Lunch Actually reached out to me. It took them some time, but we eventually sorted things out. They explained to me that I was matched with other religious users because I'm a Christian. The issue was only corrected after they update my profile to a free-thinker.
After the incident, they were still sincere and keen to help me with my dating journey; they offered me several complimentary services
1) Extra free date coaching and image coaching sessions
2) Extra free dates for Lunch Actually
3) Invitation to 1 singles events
4) A fair partial refund
Even though their matching services did not work for me, I'm happy that they reached out to me for service recovery and offered me a fair compensation. They also shared with me (real data) that they are sending thousands of singles out on dates every month, and many members met their bf/gf through their dating services.

Well, to be honest, what is written here is not really true. I'm also a customer of lunch actually. My experience with them?
I want to share my remarkable and life-changing experience with Lunch Actually, a dating company that has truly transformed my outlook on finding love. First, I must admit that I was unhappy with their services. However, the dedicated staff at Lunch Actually patiently listened to my frustrations and disappointment. They never gave up on me and continuously worked hard to find the best match for me. Today, I can proudly say that I have found the best woman I could ever have, and we are even planning to get married soon!
When I initially approached Lunch Actually, my expectations were high, and I hoped to find my soulmate quickly. Unfortunately, the first few matches didn't meet my expectations, and I started to feel disheartened. But what set Lunch Actually apart was their remarkable customer service. Instead of dismissing my concerns, the staff listened attentively to my feelings of dissatisfaction, and they empathized with my situation.
The support and encouragement I received from the staff at Lunch Actually were invaluable. They assured me that finding the perfect match takes time and that they would never give up on helping me find the right person. This level of dedication and commitment reassured me that I was in good hands.
Throughout the process, the staff at Lunch Actually showed remarkable patience and understanding. They genuinely cared about my happiness and worked tirelessly to present me with potential matches that aligned with my preferences and values. The regular check-ins and updates from them made me feel like they were my friends on this journey to find love.
Finally, after several matches and conversations, I met someone who completely stole my heart. The connection was undeniable, and I knew I had found the woman I had been searching for all along. She is everything I ever dreamed of and more.
Now, as my partner and I plan our future together, I cannot help but feel immensely grateful to Lunch Actually for making all this possible. They transformed my initial dissatisfaction into an overwhelming sense of joy and fulfillment.
With the love and support we found through Lunch Actually, my partner and I are excitedly planning to get married soon. This wouldn't have been possible without the dedication and commitment of Lunch Actually's team.
Perhaps if we tried longer, we could've gotten the correct one. Like love, we don't strike jackpot on first try definitely.
They took my money and that was the end of the story. Ghosted me until i posted my review here. Going to file with small claims to get my money back Dont waste your time/ money with them. They operate on a fear tactic: that I would be too embarrassed to go open if things go sour and the paperwork to file for claimS is too complicated and time consuming.
Update on 14 Dec Yes, i will keep waiting for grace.
Update on 21 Dec Told me to remove my post (ie my honest opinion) in order for them to proceed with a 70% refund. In other words, i am paying 30% so they get to tell me i am past my expiry date. Thank you LA.
Update 15 Jan 2023 Embarked on filing with Small Claims. Complicated, yes. Wish me luck.
Update 3 March 2023 Consultation at small claims. LA made false claims including i changed my criteria making it hard for them to find me a match.
It is with sadness that we couldn’t resolve our disagreements and we met you in the Small Claims Court on the 12th May 2023. I believe you are aware that the Judge had ruled in Lunch Actually’s favour by fully dismissing your claim and allegations against us.
We didn’t ghost you (verified by the court) and your allegations of “fear tactics” employed is a unsupported claim against us. Our clients of over the past 19 years are often established and confident people and they would never not tolerated such alleged fear tactics. The ruling essentially stated that it was you breached the contract halfway which prevented us from fulfilling your dates when there was still ample time.
Despite all, it is Lunch Actually’s sincere desire to finish things properly and try by resolve this matter amicably. We tried to contact you after after the case on the same day (12th May 2023 afternoon) to arrange for a meeting to settle this matter. However we have not yet heard back from you at this point.
Do reply us when you are ready and we would be happy to explore on how we can resolve this matter fairly.
The dating agency with the most complains award goes to Violet Lim of Lunch Actually. If you will to read all the complains here, you will realize this is the similarity among them.
When LA cheat them, they complain but LA ignore them.
When they come online to post their complain, LA pretend to ask them to contact LA but actually LA never do anything for them and LA will post saying that it has been resolved. If this is not a scam, than what is a scam?
Lunch Actually strives to live up to its mission serving its clients to the best of its ability, matching and sending them out on dates. We do make mistakes and there would be times we would not succeed but we nevertheless do our best.
We do contact each complaint that we can indeed track back to a client and try to resolve it to the satisfaction of both parties. Over time, the vast majority of our complaints have been resolved as we do not like to leave things hanging without finish.
That is why after nearly 20 years in business, we have survived and grown as the majority of clients do find satisfaction and some their significant other through us.
One has to be mindful before spending few thousands $ on a company with such bad remarks. The staff of Lunch Actually are desperate for sales and will keep calling you to sell their package. After you signed up their package, they either have too little matches are intro someone who are far from your expectation. Bad encounters like these are too common. Be wise folks.
Like any other company, we do indeed need sales to survive, pay reasonable salaries so we are attract the right talent to serve our clients and market so we can attract new clients as a dating service needs new clients in its database to match with existing clients.
We have a 3 day cooling down period in our branches to ensure our associates do not resort to any hard selling tactics and that the consultation is a value added one and used for both sides to [censored] if we can work together.
Some clients with tight criterias and possibly a harder demographics are indeed more difficult to serve and we do check if we have enough database for them first and if they do sign up, dates would not be as fast as others. However clients that come in with open criterias and are of a easier demographic do go out on more dates than average and have more mutual matches. Hence there is always 2 sides of the coin to the story.
If they contact you.. run for your life!
Hard sell, super scary people
Fake positive reviews all over the internet just for you to trust them.
Our policy is to NEVER resort to any hard selling as it always would come back to bite any company in the long run. That is why we have a 3 day cooling down period to ensure our associates would not practice such methods.
Lunch Actually has been in the business of Matchmaking and Date Coaching for around 20 years and we survived as we have always strived to add value and serve our customers to the best we can. Hence that is the main reason why we are still in business today.
I was been hard sell by lunch actually
Now I wish to get my money back 500
me too! I wasted $4, 000+
I am sorry you have a less than happy experience with us. As this review has been a while ago, please do contact us with your details and we can check and see how we can resolve this matter even though its been some time. Thank you and we hope we can find a win-win outcome to this.
1) My name is Patrick and I have tried eSynchrony in [protected], I would not say it is fully a scam but would think of it as a money grab for sure.
2)The pool of participants are obviously made up with Inactive and non premium users because the Marissa will tell you to approve more dates so that they could get a match out of almost 100 approvals made by you.
3) Matches are not sincere as they cheat on you by going out with other parallel dates, so if you are looking for love at first sight or match made in heaven for the amount of money you paid, Think again as its a business for them!
4) If Esync is so Great, why cant they segregate apart the Inactives, premiums users, Actives and Actives or even put up a rule of sincerity by asking all serious daters to make an annual video describing themselves? We have entered into the new millennium and 5G era so for the amount of money paid yet Esync is behaving like a the data industry had just arrived!
5) There are better FREE apps out there and way more successful than this self absorb low result agency, trust me!
I'm no competitor as I have proof of tonnes of email from Esync to lure me back into their death pit!
Have a nice day! Thanks for the read ;-)
haha must be written by competitor
Unprofessional & Unreliable Matching services
Please do NOT join Lunch Actually Dating Agency
1) Lunch Actually (LA) claims to match you with someone ‘holistically’ and taking into account your “preferences”. They claim that the only thing they do not guarantee is chemistry. It is NOT true. While most of the time, LA members are truthful abt their personal details, LA will LIE about it in order to ‘create’ a match. They can LIE abt anything just to push out a date. Eg, if you say you don’t want to meet someone who drinks heavily, LA will LIE to you and cheat you into going on a date which they ‘have painstakingly looked through and is a high match’.
BUT you may not be matched according to your date’s preferences. So you will still end up wasting a date because the other party is not interested in you.
Some unlucky people (possibly those who appear nice and received decent/good feedback from their first few dates) will be unofficially ‘selected’ by LA (without their knowledge or consent of course) to be the first date or ‘service recovery’ date for other LA members. It means that whenever LA gets a new/difficult customer, they will pick this ‘selected’ candidate out to go on a date with their new/difficult members. If you are granted the ‘honor’ of being ‘handpicked’ by LA to do the ‘job’, you are likely to end up with dates with new members or angry people who have just complained abt LA. Then LA will go to their “nice members list” and pick member B to go on a date with member A. However, member A is a smoker and LA knows that there’s no way member B will agree to go out with someone who smokes. So LA will either LIE to member B or keep member B in the dark. In other words, LA makes use of their members to help them make more money from other people.
4) Whenever LA’s lies were found out and exposed, they will either insist that it was the member who had given them the wrong information (which is not always true) or they will brush it off by offering a free make up date. There’s no point taking up the make up date because the same problem will repeat.
5) LA has ‘highly trained’ consultants with high turnover rate. The consultants seem to be ONLY trained to be polite, politically correct when communicating with their members and pushing members to sign up for their workshops. They are not genuine about helping their members get a good date. The matching is done using a computer system anyway. Members’ details and/or preferences are manually tweaked or almost completely changed in order to increase the number of matches (drastically). Any Tom or Harry can be matched to Jane or Mary.
Met up with Lunch Actually and settled the problem...
We have resolved this matter and the client was satisfied and happy with the outcome. As can be seen in the mirror post here of the same content. The client's response is as below:
