Kaiser Permanente Billing

I recently received an notice from a collection agency regarding a bill from Kaiser Permanente (S. Calif) for services which were provided. I have never received an invoice from Kaiser for these services. I received, via mail, a notice of services provided which specifically stated that it was not an invoice. I have also received, by mail, prescriptions from Kaiser. When I inquired why I had not received an invoice I was told I needed to verify my address. I sent an e-mail to Kaiser verifying my address but still have not received an invoice. I am receiving notifications of service and prescriptions from Kaiser but Kaiser will not provide an invoice. Why?

Kaiser Permanente Billing services

They sent my bill to a collection agency despite the fact that I have been making small payments each month. $30 of those payments do not show up on my bill. It appears I have not received credit for those payments. I insist on all contact via email so I have everything in writing, but they have not been willing to connect with me in that way. I cannot fill out the medical assistant form because I have not submitted my 2019 taxes yet, and they require that as part of the process.

Kaiser Permanente Doctor responsiveness & email system at kp.org

I've been very frustrated recently when corresponding via the kp.org email system with my doctor, Claudia Ruiz. It seems that messages are being "viewed", but not responded to. I emailed my doctor on a Friday morning (I had reinjured my fractured toe), and had still not received a response by Monday at noon. This had become a medium urgent issue, so I called the advice nurse, who mentioned that she did not see the sent message to my doctor, which I found odd. The nurse emailed my doctor for me, and this time, my doctor responded back. However, I still had a follow up message for Dr. Ruiz, and sent that message back immediately thereafter. Today, I again see that my most recent sent message has been viewed, but there has been no response.

While I understand that doctors have 48 hours to respond, there are a few issues that don't add up. At least one of the messages that I emailed to my doctor was not received. Additionally, it has been very difficult to reach my doctor, so I am unsure if the lack of accessibility and slow responsiveness is more of a modern day situation, or something that is unique to my doctor. I will be looking to switch doctors after this fiasco is settled.

Perhaps there should be a system where medium-urgency messages are responded to more quickly? I'm not sure what the answer is. But while I sit here in pain and refresh my browser hoping to see my doctor's message, I just wanted to express my frustration with this process.

Kaiser Permanente Behavior

December 9, 2019

Today I took my 15 year old son Samson Gonzalez to urgent care Kaiser in murrieta... They said because of his symptoms he needed to go to kaiser riverside emergency room or I could go to rancho for emergency care because they had someone that could better help him. So we went to kaiser riverside because I wanted to go to my other sons college to pick up some things, and Kaiser was not far from there. I get to Kaiser and check in the emergency room, they asked me what was going on, I told them he wasn't feeling good and that he's been hallucinating because of his fever.. as soon as I said that she asks me to scoot over so she could talk to my son. He confirmed that was true, then she told us to come in the back. They asked me did he say he wanted to hurt anyone, I said no. They asked him did he want to hurt himself or anyone else, he clearly said no, and said he just wasn't feeling good. They pretty much disregarded what he said and kept asking him those types of questions. They didn't take his blood pressure or anything. The nurse asked me did he have a fever, I said it was 102 or 101 last night, but it's been 99.2 all day today. Then she took his temp. She said she had to keep him there because of concern and said He needed to change into other clothes, that I couldn't be by him with my purse. I didn't understand. I was confused and told her he's just not feeling good, hopefully they can give him an x-ray and check his chest because I told her he said his chest was hurting. She Made him go in the back and change into his garment. He had to take a urine sample, they wouldn't let me take my purse in the bathroom with him. I started feeling uncomfortable and told her I would just leave and take him somewhere else, she said I was not allowed to leave. I had a panic attack. I looked calm on the outside, but inside I was freaking out. She had security and a nurse stand next to him the hole time. The nurse also had the security guard check to see if my son had any weapons on him. I was very offended. I had to take a picture. He did nothing. We came in just so he can get some help because he was sick. The whole time in there they didn't take any x-ray or any tests to see if something was wrong with him, all they did was hold us against our will because he might have been a threat. The doctor finally came to talk with him, and asked him some questions registering his mental state. I told him this usually happens when he has a fever. Just like I told the nurse and the check in lady in the beginning. The doctor finally outruled him being a threat and said we were good to go. I told him my son was still sick and that's why we came. He just listened to his back and chest and said he was fine, he said he was going to write up a prescription for respiratory infection. But I felt like he didn't even check him as he needed too. My son was complaining about chest hurting, his nose bleeding for 2 says, and feeling like he was going to faint, plus he had not eaten in 2 days because he was feeling too ill. The nurse gave us our clothes after the doctor "cleared" us from the security, and we left. I didn't check out because I was anxious. They called me 2 times after I left because I didn't get discharged or get my papers... they said they prescribed medicine and gave instructions, but I don't know how because he was not fully evaluated. I want to move forward with a law suite agains Kaiser. We were forced to stay there against our will and was not allowed to leave. My son is under age and was confused.. he thought he was in trouble for something. We did not get treatment like we were suppose too, and the doctor still prescribed us medication when he did not fully evaluate him. I understand that if a patient goes to the hospital stating that they were going to hurt themselves or someone else, that this is protocol... but my son came and said he had a fever and was hallucinating, and that happens whenever he gets a fever.

Kaiser Permanente Dr. Paul Sueno

My first (and last) visit on 11.11.2019 was with dr paul sueno at capitol hill in seattle wa.In came in to room with a very abrupt attitude, sat down at the computer (no eye contact) and riddled me with questions. I asked him if we were going to look through my mri and he stopped and told me if I only want to go by the mri I could find another doctor. He said this to me twice. I was stunned by the treatment of this man. When I asked about my health issues and my job he said that he could not help me. He does no paperwork and to find a different job. I found his demeanor to be very callous. He did not care about my health issues or my concerns at all. I really wish that I would of said yes to find another dr.. But I was stunned by his treatment of me. I have never once in my thirty years with group health, receive the kind of treatment from any doctor. I refuse to see him again. I am almost positive that this is not the first complaint this doctor has received. I hope that my opinion counts andmy concerns are heard. Thank you

I saw Dr. Sueno on 10/25/21 for MRI of spine follow-up associated with a pain problem. In the past year I've had maybe 20 doctor visits with various specialists, and have found both the front end of Kaiser to be fabulous and all of those specialists to be professional and have a great bedside manner. On my visit, however, Dr. Sueno was rude, condescending, patronizing, and arrogant. When I asked questions he would say things like "did I not just answer that question?" and then launch into a discourse about how it was okay for me to be wrong. Later in the visit, he asked me questions that I had answered only five minutes earlier, and spent a good five minutes explaining how software engineers (like me) made him go through to check the boxes on the software he was using. He dismissed my concerns about underlying etiology. He spent a good 10 minutes lecturing me about the diction he used ("have you seen a PT for any issues related to your back", when the subject was my leg.) Honestly, he could defend all of this, but I'm sorry, it was the most combative encounter with a doctor I could imagine. I had to ask him to terminate the visit so I could leave. It could be fine for some doctors to be rude or gruff or otherwise have bad bedside manner, but as patients, we have invested quite a lot on our journey to get professional help. This kind of (unnecessarily difficult) behavior from a doctor puts a real speed-bump along the path to getting quality care. Of course, there is a rudest doctor, the most condescending one; there has to be, just as there is the most intelligent person. Sadly, Dr. Sueno is in that percentile to the left of the Bell curve, and it is really too bad that patients have to deal with it. The bar is pretty low, obviously.

Kaiser Permanente A commercial

I am very shocked and disappointed in a commercial I just saw which shows a 'Drag Queen Story Hour'. For a company that is supposedly concerned with people's health, have you even considered the health of the children exposed to these "men"? This is anything but healthy for these very impressionable young children. There has even been talk of these predators grooming these children for sex and looking for communities with the least resistance to their agenda. Yes, they have an agenda.
I am by no means saying that Kaiser should discriminate against them as customers, just don't promote their perverse behavior as normal. My comments will most likely fall on deaf ears, but it needed to be addressed.

Kaiser Permanente Billing

I had to go to the emergency room on Oahu, Hawaii in February 2019 while I was on vacation. I had a horrible stomach virus (maybe food poisoning--it was never officially diagnosed). I spent about 60-90 minutes in a room after finally being checked in (I wasn't keeping track of time and was dozing quite a bit). A nurse took my blood pressure, and ultimately it was decided that they would give me an anti--nausea pill to see if that would help the vomiting before giving me IV fluids. (I was trying to reduce cost, ) The medicine kicked in after about 30 minutes. They brought me water to sip on and the nurse took my blood pressure one more time. I went downstairs to get a prescription for more anti-nausea and left. Several months later, I received a bill for approximately $189, which I paid. It is now October, and today I received a bill for an additional $497 for that same visit. I stopped paying my premiums to KP in the spring after I became so angry with them over so many billing problems the past several years that I simply couldn't stand wasting my time on the phone with them anymore. Why am I getting a second bill for a visit that happened eight months ago? And why in the world would one anti-nausea pill and a nurse taking my blood pressure twice cost almost $800? The doctor basically ignored me for over an hour. He came in to ask me a few questions and I never saw him again. This is utterly ridiculous. Kaiser is the worst when it comes to billing issues.
It's too bad because the care I received locally in my home state of Oregon has always been very good. However, I will never purchase an insurance policy through Kaiser ever again. I would like an itemized list of exactly what everything cost that day and why I'm being billed a second time eight months after the ER visit.

Kaiser Permanente Misdiagnosis

My husband Robert Bales died at the Fontana facility on 04/10/19...I have now just had the mindset to write..it does him no good at this point but we want it known that his Primary Dr..at the Del Rosa Clinic Solomon Abila ignored symptoms and complaints of side pain and back pain, that turned out to be stage 4 liver cancer. Robert went no less than 3 times with said complaints of pain.. Dr. Abila attributed it to a disc in his back. Robert asked for X-rays initially of his side pain, which had the beginning stages of swelling ..Dr Abila told him ..you are right handed and each visit kept saying it was a pulled muscle..that's why ..also Dr Abila changed Robert's blood pressure meds that contained an ingredient he was allergic to and was clearly stated on his medical file..
The last appointment he had with Abila his feet were beginning to swell.. he told Abila but he ignored him and walked out of the room..I then switched Robert to the Colton Clinic by now his legs were very swollen and leaking..Dr Tran his new Primary was concerned and searching for answers..Sent Robert home with follow up appointment...soon after his stomach became very swollen..went back again to Colton Clinic saw Dr Smith he sent us immediately to the hospital, he had stated to us that Robert had chirrosis of the liver 15 years ago! After years of being under Dr Abilas care this was never mentioned..if we had known we would have made sure Robert was being monitored...I feel if he could have been monitored all along the outcome would be different..with a very heavy Soul I report this, thank you for your time..whoever you may be..

Kaiser Permanente Disrespectful/ rude

I want to make a complain to a representative of Kaiser Permanente. July 8, 2019, I called around 5-6 pm to make sure if my daughter was discharged already. The rep whom I forgot to ask his name was so rude, he just simply said " I don't see her name in room 304, first of all he should verified it connect me to the nurses station. Instead he was pissed off & hung up on me. I called again & asked him if he hung up on me " he said on a reverse psychology " did you hang up? I was so upset @ that time but to ignore this guy who's so unprofessional. Second incident I called today July 17, 2019, Wednesday, I called the Apria @ around 6:30 pm to find out my daughter's wheelchair ETA, I pressed 1 so the automated voicemail will connect me to Kaiser. I talked to this guy named Pho, he asked my daughter's name then my address, after giving my exact address he told me to repeat my address because according to him I have a strong ACCENT! So I gave my address again, but was offended to what he told me. I asked him why he mentioned the word accent, that's discrimination. He said he thought that I came from Jamaica, carribean etc, when I said I'm from the Philippines, he laughed so loud! I was so pissed off, I told him what's funny? It's bec I'm Filipino . He apologized but too late. I remained calm & professional. I like Kaiser, we're a member since 2006 but can not tolerate this guy who was so rude & very unprofessional. I hope you resolve this issue ASAP. Thank you

Kaiser Permanente Er visit for 2 health issues that were not addressed properly

I am writing this complain about my visit to the ER at Kaiser Permamente at 1am on July 4th. I went there because my edema in my feet was very bad and have been having much pain in left side abdomen for almost 2 weeks. The nurse that helped me was nice her name was Rehme. But then I was assigned this doctor named Lam Grace who at first thought she was nice but really was a nice act she puts on with fake smile on. She comes in room after the nurse takes care of me asking about why I was there.

So I proceed tell her about haw badly swollen my feet are from the edema and that has been getting worse. Then i told her about the pain in my abdomen that this also has been getting worse with more pain not going away. I told her about past abdomen problems a bulge near that area and had some diverticulitis also near that area over a year ago. She lift up my gown and pressed on my abdomen in a few areas and thats all she did about that. She made me take my socks off look at my feet pressed on them sto see indents ands say to elevate them which I already do daily and to wear compression stockings and thats all she did about that.

Then she say well ok we will do blood work to check a few things and maybe do a scan or xray. Then she leave my room. The nurse then draws 5 viles of blood out of my arm then she leaves. The about 30 mins later this tech comes in tells me hes going to take me down for xrays of my chest. I told him the problem is not in my chest my heart is fine, the problem is here in my abdomen and I showed his the area that has pain. He said ok I will go ask them so I guess he found the doctor and she said yes go take xrays of his chest and I was confused and baffled by this.

So he take me down to get 3 xrays the n brings me back and I wait for over an hour. Then the doctor comes in and tells me well your blood tests came back and everything looks good and there is no problems in your chest. I am still wondering why she keeps avoiding talking abaout my pain in my abdomen. Then she leaves and i wait some more. Then the nurse comes back and tells me you will be going home soon now I am really kinda getting upset because nothing really was dont about my feet or my abdomen.

So I am waiting there and then another lady comes in with a EKG machine says going to take EKG readings with the wires and little things they stick on you to read electrical impluses. I said ok and thought I dont really need this either as my heart is fine. She did the test and said the Doctor will be in after a while to tell you the results. I wait some more then the doctor comes in with her fake smile on and says your EKG looks good and says the nurse will be in soon with your go home paperwork . I then said to her and touched my abdomen and asked her I say what if this area keeps hurting and gets worse, she said with fake smile you can alwayts come back here or go see your primary doctor.

The doctor leave then 15 minutes later the nurse comes in with my paperwork says a few things. I put her on the spot and I said I am concerned and upset that the doctor avoided doing anything about my abdomen at all. I said what if I go home and something pops in there. The nurse stumbled to find any words to say I said this doctor was wrong and should have xray or CTscan my abdomen to see whats wrong in there. She leaves and I get dressed take my bags of stuff walk down the hall and check out.

This doctor did not do anything about my really bad swollen feet either. Other times when I came to the ER about my bad swollen feet the would give me lasix ( water pill ) but in liquid form right through my veins which works very fast compared to taking pills and home that hardly do anything. The doctor did not offer me any relief on my feet either. So now its July 5th and and I am worse than when I went to the ER my feet are horribly swollen and painful and this pain in my side is worse than ever. I been with Kaiser Permanente since 2007 and looking back I really regret ever staying with them this long. I will say that because I decided to stay with them my health is bad and worse than its ever been. Here is my advice to anyone, dont ever use Kaiser if you have Kaiser get the hell out run as fast as you can and never look back !

So I wasted money for taxi can trip to and from there this night and wasted and bunch of hours waiting for them to call me into the ER then when I get in ther they did little or nothing to help the 2 problems i went in there for !

Kaiser Permanente Physical therapists are worthless at kaiser, boulder, colorado

ATTN: Physical Therapy department
My daughter had a physical therapy appointment today (5/29/19), and guess what, the person did not touch her at all -- they simply did the dry needling procedure (a 30 minute appointment that they only spent 15 minutes with her) and sent her on her way (leaving her crying in pain in her car).
They did not listen to what she had to say when she said other places hurt on her back - they blamed it on her saying she had bad posture -- they don't care! This is not the problem and you don't care to find out anyway.
Whenever I see a Kaiser commercial and they make it seem like they care -- they don't at all!
MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH - HOW DO YOU THINK SHE FEELS NOW?
OH, WAIT . . . YOU DON'T CARE.
I DO - BECAUSE YOU MADE HER CRY - AND I DON'T CARE IF SHE'S A GROWN WOMAN WITH FOUR KIDS - SHE'S MY DAUGHTER AND YOU MADE HER CRY.
ONCE AGAIN . . . YOU DON'T CARE.

Kaiser Permanente Roi department

Have been having issues getting my information for FMLA. Applied early April. Faxed in my signed authorization form on 4/12/19 to release my information to the company that provides this service for my place of employment. Clearly stated deadline to get info to " The Standard" was 4/22/19. Received notice that they had not received any paperwork, and the time was running out. They were going to close my case. SO I called ROI department and spoke to Erica said they had until the 4/26/19 per their time frame and when they received the request. I then called " The Standard" back and got an extension until the 4/29/19. Called ROI Department on 5/6/19 spoke to Tanya; said she would get it done ASAP today! The Standard still has not gotten any paperwork it is 5/9/19! They have closed my case. I am in danger of losing my job. I called today spoke to ROI department. (so upset I did not ladies name) said they mailed the information to me. I asked why it was not sent to The Standard? I guess the paperwork I filled out and signed does not authorize them to release my info The Standard (WTF!) Maybe someone could of told me that already, as many times as I have called. I assumed it was signed to release the info to The Standard. I still have no paperwork . By the time I get it and send it to them it will be way past DUE!

Kaiser Permanente Doctor ‘misdiagnosed and careless

On April 10, I made an appointment to my personal physician, dr Bryant (in south Sacramento Kaiser), I told him my blood sugar has been so high (350-450), also I have been coughing on and off last two months. He used the listener and listened my lungs couple different areas and he said you are okay you don't have pneumonia. He told me double the metformin from 1000 a day to 2000 a day and said my blood sugar will be okay after two weeks.five days later, my blood sugar going up to 550.I ended up going to the ER. When I first saw dr Bryant, he should order an x Ray and check my lungs, finds out I have pneumonia and treat it, I will not end up going to the ER.therefore, I would say dr Bryant is careless and misdiagnosed.(I only talked to him couple minutes in his clinic)

Kaiser Permanente Doctor unprofessionalism

Multiple times my girlfriend and I have came with her medi-cal and been treated like pain pill seeking individuals and like she was not actually having issues. When many issues were found that needed to have a surgeon called for advice she was once again just told there's a huge problem with your intestinal tract and we arent going to help you follow up with your primary care. The time before he said well you haven't died yet and you won't in the next week. He admitted she was in a great deal of pain and had a kidney stone and never even gave her motrin or tylenol. My experience with kidney stones is that you cant leave until the pain is gone and I've been given morphine every time. The way he answered her and treated her like a smug anus hole was un called for and I admittedly told him he made me want to be punch him for how he treated her as I was sitting down and him hovering over us. Not any violent words or actions or tones were used just a vast appreciation for how he was doing his job. And because he helped her everytime before with her ly she phones secreting disgusting bile into her mouth from open soars he just said once again to follow up with a doctor. Her life is been unlivable and he couldbe and should've caught this two months prior but his personal feelings directed him to the unfair treatment of this poor girl. I've never g ok be anywhere except Kaiser for the duration of the hospitals existence always telling people if its excellence. No more this has disgusted me to no end. Kaiser Permanente Absurdly high billing and lying

I'm a new patient. I've been paying $200 a month for 5 months for insurance, through my employer. Called my local Kaiser and was told getting my skin checked (a large bump on it) would be completely covered. The doctor took one look at it and said he could burn it off right away. I was in his office no more than 15 minutes. Got a bill for over $500 for this! Have already paid $1, 000 for the insurance and now $500. So $1, 500 to remove a 1/4 inch wart, nothing else.

I'm a young person who now distrusts the entire health care system. And you wonder why people like me are mistrusting and join protests against ripoff companies like this. I'll never go to Kaiser again. Probably no other medical facility either, unless in an emergency. The medical system is filled with corruption.

Kaiser Permanente Marked do not rehire

I was hired to work at Kaiser Permanente in 2011. I worked for them for nearly 2.5 years and could NOT get hired full time within my department despite moving to another medical center. The Union made it nearly impossible to work days full-time after my tenure ship there I decided to take a full time Hospice QA position. I did not misrepresent myself at my interview, the manager seemed to like me. I told her I had some experience with QA, date and trending but by no means did I ever do this full time in this designated position. I was hired, put in a managerial position and was given NO training. Minimal instruction and I could tell right away this was not going to work out for me personally. I was called into to speak to my manager where she asked me to perform and show her how to open, start an excel speed sheet. I couldn't' do it. I knew it was the sign and she knew she hired the wrong person. I gave my 2 week notice. She accepted it. I was assured she would help me look for another job within KP. I applied like crazy and NOTHING happened. It shocked me as I should of been a shoe in for at least several positions for interviews. I had not choice but to resign with the notice I gave and sough employment outside. On my last day I was doing what I could do wrapping up what I could and I was called into my managers office at noon. She handed me my final check told me that was all and I said I was helping with the final data input and she said "its not necessary". I though I left on good terms! After applying like made for months with not so much as a call back I called HR and asked them about my file. My final manager marked me a DO NOT rehire. I do not know why. I never misrpresented myself. My manager made it clear she didn't want or have anyone to train me and from the get go I knew this job was not going to work out. I gave my 2 weeks and fought to find job at KP. NO such luck. I don't know if I have any recourse.

Kaiser Permanente Misrepresentation of services, wrongful enrollment based on false information

I had called Kaiser inquiring about a Medicare supplemental plan as I was new to Medicare. I was quoted an annual fee of $139. and thought this was definitely workable as I was no longer working and living on a limited income source. However when I opened up the documents that were emailed to me, I saw that the fee was actually a monthly charge. I did not sign any documents or agree to services based on such misinformation and misrepresentation of services. Now Kaiser insisted that I dis-enroll even though I never enrolled. They claimed that I enrolled over the phone which I would not do unless reviewing the documents and especially not under such false representation and false pretenses. They are charging me $204 for 2 months of membership even though I never enrolled or agreed to membership. I refute this charge and consider this an abuse of an elder.

Kaiser Permanente Service at chronic pain dept vallejo

yes I was referred to chronic pain over 2 years ago . the facility is in another city, it took 2 years 3 intakes with 3 different doctors and now they want me to have another intake with another DR . stock well,
I have is that a series of appointments were made earlier this year with no knowledge to me. I left a message last moth for DR. stockwell and I have never heard from him I really don't expect to with the way chronic pain dept is managed, I called again today at 2 pm chronic pain dept 11 monic is usually there someone else answered wouldn't give me her name, refused to take a message for DR. stockwell, than she said he was on vacation, I just wanted to leave another message she refused . how do I contact the office if the Kaiser office is not willing to do communicate .
On my last visit to the chronic pain dept. I was told by a staff member I was on the lowest priority because my don't take enough medication, for the record I take so much medication its disabling . I found that to be an interesting statement from the Kaiser staff member, the staff at the chronic pain dept. are not regular they are always switching out and transferring there is no stability with calling back or making appointments or the staff members at this point . your chronic pain management in Vallejo is a waste of time and very unorganized, its embarrassing and you should be ashamed this not the first complaint.

Kaiser Permanente Membership services

I have been calling Kaiser since last December that my plan changed from gold to bronze starting January 1st. I have been paying my premium every month since January 1st. However, I keep getting delinquent notices stating I am behind on my premium. I have called membership services over 20 times since December, to take care of this problem. Everyone I talked to says they will check on it and I should call back at a later date. They say they have called me and sent me letters, which I have not received. But I get a bill every month at my only address listed with Kaiser. Not sure why I don't receive the so called letters they say they sent. Because of all of this I will be changing health care to another plan. 9 months of trying to correct the problem from Kaiser and I am no closer to getting it resolved.

Please feel free to call me, but only if you can fix the problem Kaiser has cost me.

Thank you Debbra Gearhart
