Hughes Internet service

I wanted to warn you all that hughesnet has a brand new scam! I like many many people, suffered out a 2 year contract, after trying repeatedly to cancel (after repeatedly trying to fix, with what they jokingly call customer service) sooooo they tap my account for 2 years while never giving me a product that was of any practical use! I run the time out by two extra months, before I notice that they are still charging me. I call my bank - who are very nice and tell me, of course they'll stop any new payment. However, the next month when hughesnet tries again to bill me as hughesnet.com, and the bank stops them, they resubmit as just hughesnet, no.com this time, and it goes thru!
I call the bank again. They tell me it won't happen again, after this time, (but, at least they reimburse me for the previous payout) and they will now block payment to hughesnet (no dot com) I say "that's great but what if they do this again?" the sweet girl, who really wanted me off the phone by now, says "na, they won't do that, this should take care of it".
This month they tried again now as - hms hughesnet.com! It went thru again! I called the bank again, was transferred to the fraud department. After, much run-around it seems they can do nothing.
I called the attorney general to start a fraud complaint.
I'm on my way to the bank to close my account.
Check your bills carefully!
Hughesnet are out and out criminals!

Hughes billing

I canceled and payed my bill in full on 1/22/18. They continued to leave my service on, billing me monthly. I never keep a ledger at the bank until my account was overdrawn in 8/5/18. Hugh Net took out a payment. This made me look back thru my checking account and realized that Hugh Net has taken out over $700 since January till now. I have talked to 4 people all being very rude especially JR Revera, a superviser account management., I asked to get my money they owe me back and he called me a liar saying I never cancelled my account. I havent even lived in that house all year. I KNOW I CANCELED MY HUGH NET. I feel I am entitled to my money back as they can see, there has been NO internet used. Who can I talk to that has some sence. No I dont have a cancellation number because it was so long ago.

Hughes internet services

We changed from DISH network to Direct TV for our provider, and was told that if we bundled with our cell phone (AT&T), and Hughesnet we would get a great deal. We love the Direct TV, did not change anything with cell phones, because of the extreme cost, and have found that Hughesnet does not work for us as fast as our current cable provider. The installer check the speed and when I asked if his was faster, he avoided my question and installed it anyway. The salesperson from Tawas City, Michigan, Shelly, stated we were getting a great deal and would love the Internet...ITS TOO SLOW!
NOw she won't answer our calls or text. She told me to call her on Friday to discuss this, and now she won't answer our calls or text.
Where do we go from here? I have NO signed contract, and haven't seen one.

HELP!

Hughes service

Same issue as everyone on this page. i will make a suggestion...and that is request a copy of your signed contract be emailed to you and if they cannot provide one within 7 days where the contract has your signature on it then they have no legal right to send you to collection and if they have because you refuse to pay any longer until you receive that copy they never provided you with then not only could it be considered slanderous on their part but defamation of character and also falsifying legal financial documents. they have absolutely no leg to stand on in any collection situation since they cannot prove you ever agreed to the 24 month service. First step is every dissatisfied customer must start standing up for themselves as we are consumers with rights as well. if the big companies continue to steal those rights and noone stands up to them in a larger form then there will no longer be consumer rights. STAND UP FOR YOURSELF. Refuse to pay if not providing service they agree to and also dont pay if sent to collection...dispute it with the arguement that you legally never signed a 2 year contract cause i sure didnt. at that point let them take everyone of us to court and then see if the judge doesnt personally know someone who has had this happen to them.

Hughes internet signal

This is truly the worse internet service I have ever had and I've had internet since the beginning of internet. I thought Century Link was bad but Hughes is worse. I initially was searching for a Dish package with TV, internet and landline. I didn't know Hughes was going to be the internet and landline. I also didn't understand that it runs off data. What a mistake that was! It's only me and my husband with 2 cell phones, 2 computers and 2 Ipads, (never going at the same time). I have to turn off my phone WIFI when I get home so I don't use up my data. We don't stream, download videos, have Netflix or anything else. Just a DVR. Internet in my office is so slow or nonexistent. It constantly cuts out. All my office work takes me 3 to 4 times longer because of this crappy internet. This is EVERY time I get on my computer. I was told that once I use up all my data for the month, my internet slows down and I have the option to buy more data. I don't want to spend more money to get descent internet! I can't wait till my 2 yrs is up. I already researched other internet companies. Data is ridiculous! I don't think there's anything they can do. I just want out of my contract

Hughes internet service

I've had Hughesnet Gen 5 since March of 2018! It was supposed to be fast and for the first 30 days it was, and since then it has been getting slower and slower and buffers so bad I can't even watch videos at all! We only use two devices an iPhone and an iPad mini, we can't both use our devices at the same time because the speed is so bad WTH! FAST my rear end, my grandma could run faster than your service does! I've called and complained but as usual you can't talk to an American you get some foreigner who's English is so bad that you can barely understand they're saying and is reading from the HUGHESNET PROBLEM EXCUSE MANUAL! It's never anything wrong with their equipment and they always run tests and say it's fine...ITS NOT FINE! They lock you into a 2 year contract give you fast internet service for just long enough to lock you in and then if it sucks you'd have to pay them a fistful of money to get out of the contract, so no matter what you do they SCREW you! There should be a law against telling the LIES they tell! Hughesnet you suck and I can't wait for my contract to end cause I will drop you for the trashy liars you are!

Hughes 3rd party contractors that lie about terms of service

I purchased HughesNet from a third party representative of HughesNet last August (8/2017). The rep. was with Eagle Satellite in Missoula, MT. We knew we would be at this residence for a short period of time, one year at the maximum. It was very important to me to have no contract due to our living situation. (Side note: We did not have a contract with our previous internet provider for this same reason and never had an issue.)
I asked the rep. over and over if there was any contract or months of obligation. He continued to tell me no and not to worry. I could cancel at anytime without penalty or having to pay extra. The only paperwork he showed me to review was the monthly cost sheet with the levels of internet available and there monthly fee. My spouse, father, and mother were all there at our dinning table asking the same questions and getting the same answers. No contract/no cancel fees.
I was asked to sign an installation agreement via an IPAD. I was given a printed copy of this agreement. No where on this agreement does it state there is a two year contract.
So here I am July 2018 and we have moved. I called up Ealgle Satellite and they directed me to call HughesNet directly to cancel. I called HughesNet 7-19-18 and was informed at this time that I have a "verbal" contract of two years and would need to pay a 200.00 cancellation fee. This came as a huge shock to me as you can imagine. I then told HughesNet that I would call them back after clearing up the misunderstanding with Eagle Satellite and they type of service my agreement was for. I called Eagle Satellite from July 19, 2018 through August of last week. For almost 3 weeks they did not respond to any of my calls, saying the owner was unavailable or out of the office and to leave message. I did this on a weekly basis. After dodging my calls I finally spoke with the owner Pat G, only after I drove two hours to his office on Aug. 2nd, 2018 and called from outside saying I was here to confront him in front of customers or talking with me now over the phone.
Pat-the owner of Eagle Satellite informed me that he was under no obligation to clear up anything with HughesNet . He was so rude, and abusive to me on the phone calling me a liar and that no one on his staff would lie about contracts. With his verbal abuse I wanted to end the conversation and I asked him to send me a complaint form via email which he has done.
I then contacted the Montana Attorney generals office to file an official complaint with office of consumer protection. They were very supportive in me filing an official complaint. The Montana Attorney generals complaint office suggested I no longer contact Eagle Satellite due to my experiences.
I then called HughesNet Friday August 3rd. I spoke with three different customer service representatives. Each time I had to explain the entire situation over to them.I explained that when Eagle Satellite sold me the internet service that they lied when directly asked if there were any contracts or fees with cancelling. I also requested from both Eagle satellite and HughesNet written copy of a "two year Agreement". Which the attorney general said to ask for. They should be able to produce any contract they are holding me liable to. Neither Eagle Satellite or HughesNet could provide this. Hughnet informed me it was a verbal agreement and that Eagle Satellte was obligated to review all terms of service with me before selling their product. Of course Eagle Satellite lied about HughesNet's terms of service to sale me a service. So without resolve HughesNet will not waive the 200.00 early cancellation fee.
At this point I feel my only option was to cancel my service-since I no longer live there and do not need the service transferred to my current location. They were kind enough to take my credit card off file and send a written final bill which will include the cancellation fee.
To avoid any possible discredits to my credit score, I plan to pay this fee and continue to file complaints with the consumer protection agency on both HughesNet and Eagle Satellite.
I only hope that in the future no one else will fall victim to Eagle Satellite and its need to sale internet service at any length. Or HughesNet that does not care how a third party representative represents their product.

Hughes service

I thought I was going to get a good internet company but no hughes net is the worst Internet company I have ever had. They make promises they will not honor. They charge too much for the poor service you get. When I decided to sign up with hughes net I was told that I wouldn't be charged until the service was set up. That was wrong they took it out immediately which caused me to have three overdraft fees charged to my account which I could have prevented if I would have know. Would have put money from savings into checking. I asked if hughes net would work with Netflix I was told yes it would but you can't watch a movie without it buffering about every two to ten minutes. So I called that night to cancel was told that I would have to give them a chance to fix the problem. I said no I don't what the service it is not going to work for me. That is when I found out there is a two year contract and would have to pay 200 or more to get out of the contract. So I agreed to have someone come out. I was told that I would need to lower the resolution on Netflix which I did and it still buffers all the time. My wife needs a reliable internet system to her job. I need out of this contract so I can get something that I can depend on.

1st of all I was told that I wouldn't be charged until my internet was set up but that wasn't true they took the charge out right away which in turned caused me to get three overdraft charges which wouldn't have been a big deal if I would have known I could have taken money from savings and put it in checking and couldn't get hughes net to pay the 108 dollars for the overdraft fees 2nd I was not informed that this was going to be a two year contract further more I was calling the first night calling stating I couldn't watch Netflix without it buffering every two minutes or so and I specificity ask if hughes net would work with Netflix which it doesn't had someone come up and stated I needed to lower the resolution which I did and it still buffers a lot my wife needs to have a good internet connection for her work 3rd I have asked to get out of this ridiculous contract especially since I was having problems from the very beginning and found out that the only way I can get out of the contract is pay 200 dollars all I want is to get an internet service that can providevwhat they promise which evidently hughes net can not provide

Hughes phone line

I have made numerous calls to have my phone line repaired. A box was sent to replace box we had here. Cable guy came out and since then no phone service. I need someone immediately at the house to repair this. I am not going to do your job when I have already been through the trouble shooting at least 3 times already. My husband is disabled and I was told initially, listen to your phone calls, that I could have a medical alert system. Now today I was told I cant. Well at&t said I could, so if you can't fix phone situation and allow for medical alert, then turn my phone off, and I will send your stuff back and get at&t in here. It's a matter of life over death for my husband to have medical alert access. I will keep internet, and you can keep the rest! Adana Ward [protected].

Hughes re: resetting my data

First off I was late with my payment of $50 plus I had three $9 tokens that I bought. 6 days later I paid my bill the 80 something dollars and my data was never reset. HughesNet claims that it was reset never have I ever used all of my data in 6 days being alone and constantly checking to see if my data was reset and it wasn't. This is the second time I'm having problems with HughesNet lying and not being able to reset my data. You're stealing money and it's funny that my data that I pay for goes way faster than my bonus data. I would like my data reset today since it wasn't reset for this month. Thank you

Hughes wifi internet

Gen 5 service in Dahlonega, Ga. zip 30533
case ID # [protected]
customer Duane Morris
account # DSS35734715

After my first week in the month, every night, internet speed drops below 1mb/sec.
I raised service to next level of gigabyte/sec. with same result.
I found it darn near impossible to contact customer service over phone.
I contacted tech support over email because tech support on line was unhelpful.
I finally gave up and requested cancelation of service.
Hughsnet has billed credit card $334 for early cancelation. I would like to request refund of Visa charges.
I have documented speed tests and emails, and I'm retired with lots of time and energy. If your company cannot resolve this I will complain far and wide.
BBB, attorney general, and complaint blogs on line.
Thanks for reading this and resolving this issue, Duane Morris

Hughes satellite internet

Signed up for satellite internet because xfinity/comcast was not available where I was moving. Very slow internet speed of 25mb/s with 1mb/s upload speed. So unhappy with this service. I can't play a game on my phone without having to buffer let alone trying to game online through playstation. It might be the best as far as satellite in my area but it pales in every way compared to cable.

Hughes poor service

I initially signed up for internet and satellite TV with HughesNet in April 2018. The. Technician came out and installed the satellite and cable to the two TVs. The technician left, and about 30 minutes later me and my daughter tried using the Internet and TV. Neither one work. I immediately called The technician on his cell phone to inform him of the problem. He told me he was headed to a car show and could not come back but for me to call back in and they would send another service technician . I did as I was told, but all I received were people trying to get me to troubleshoot which I did multiple times. Over the next 2 to 3 weeks I called in and complained that I still had no service and they said they would escalate it to their engineering department. They said I would receive a call within 24 hours. The next day I looked at my phone and saw I had missed a phone call. I called the number and was told that I had to reschedule another call because they would only called me one time within 24 hours. So I called Hughes net again, and again was put through the same routine of checking the system the buttons and unplugging and restarting the unit. This went on for almost 4 weeks by then I had decided to end it. On the last call I told the customer service agent to cancel my service. . She forwarded me over to another department. The resolution department I think it was called. The lady wanted me to go through the steps again fixing the system which I had already done about 10 times prior. I told her to cancel the system I was tired of it it never worked it never will and I was done. She said that she could escalate a call to the engineer to call me within 24 hours. I said no cancel it it will push me past 30 days and I know I would not be able to cancel it and get my money back. She proceeded to cancel My service. The very next day I received a phone call via message that a technician was on the way to my home. Obviously it had not been canceled. They c my service. The very next day I received a phone call via message that a technician was on the way to my home. Obviously it had not been canceled. The technician never showed up to the house but I did receive another message that he would try again the next day. This is after I had canceled my service. Now Hughes net is sending me a bill for $163.98 because they say that I went over the 30 days. Did not go past their 30 day free installation or trial period. I never had service I never had Internet I never had TV! I should not be responsible for a service that I never even used or had.

Hughes internet service

My mother has had Hughes for a few years in Bainbridge, GA as it is the only service that really works in her rural location. When I was home 8 months ago, she called to see about reducing her plan and spoke with a representative (Shelly) who told her about the new 5G plan--faster speed at a lower rate. I was there as my mom went through the process and wrote down everything, the confirmation number that cancelled the original account and the information for the new one to verify when the tech arrived.
Today, my mom realized that she has been charged for both accounts--the closed and current account--this entire time. Upon calling, she told the manager that she had a confirmation number which he declined to look up and merely told her, he didn't know how she got it. SO WHY NOT LOOK IT UP! And Shelly lied that she remembers the call dropped and my mom "never called back". All lies, as I was there--my mom has the cancellation confirmation number and all the new info. So after being a loyal customer my mom was treated like crap. Shame on you Hughes for taking advantage of people. I am a member of the US Army, and please know that I will tell everyone I know to tell everyone they know not to associate with you because you treat your customers like garbage.

Hughes gen 5

I have been repeatedly lied to by Hughes Net and I'm tired of it. I was told if I went with a two year contract with the Gen 5 I wouldn't have as many problems with my internet. Will the problems are worse. My security service that protects my house hasn't worked right since I ordered the Gen 5. I plan on turning this in to the FCC and the BBB if this mess isn't taken care of immediately I will also be contacting an attorney. I'm tired of all the lies and my house being at risk because your internet service going down. I want released from my two year contract since you people didn't keep your end of the bargain. Hughes hughesnet internet service

Before I ever agreed to the service my first question was, "Will it run my Netflix without buffering every few seconds?"
His reply was how many devices do we have, I told him 2 phones, one iPad, one smart TV. He guaranteed I would have no problems. Next, I had to wait weeks to get the service installed. I waited on their installer and he was a no show/ no call. I wish now I had never let them on my property. From day one it would not work. My husband called them the next day. They kept him on the phone for hours having him "try this" and "Try This". They even said they could see that we had no signal. They then wanted to charge an additional $125 to send out a technician. He told them to come get it. They said they couldn't because it was in my name (wife). I made several calls and they kept me on the phone for hours...Try this, try this again. I had made the mistake of letting them auto draft payments from my credit card. I now know the reason. They charged 3 payments that used up 90 days. They knew that if we went over 30 days they had us. THIS COMPANY IS THE BIGGEST SCAMMERS IN THE COUNTRY. Now they have turned me over to a collection agency for the complete contract amount. I will NOT pay for something I did not get. STAY AWAY FROM HUGHES NETWORKS.

Hughes Customer Reviews Overview

HughesNet is a satellite internet service provider that offers broadband connectivity to customers across the United States, particularly in rural and remote areas where traditional high-speed internet options are limited or unavailable. Their services include various internet plans with different data allowances to suit individual usage needs. HughesNet emphasizes its availability nationwide, leveraging satellite technology to provide internet access. Additionally, they offer built-in features such as data-saving modes to help manage bandwidth usage.

Hughes In-depth Review

In Summary: HughesNet offers satellite internet services primarily targeting rural and remote areas where traditional broadband is not available. While it provides widespread coverage and a variety of plans, customers should be aware of its speed limitations, data caps, and contract terms. The installation process is straightforward, but there may be initial costs involved. Performance can vary, especially during peak times, and customer service experiences are mixed. HughesNet includes features like built-in Wi-Fi and a Bonus Zone, but users must weigh these against the overall cost and value for money. The company also shows a commitment to sustainability and community involvement.

Company Overview: HughesNet is a long-standing provider of satellite internet services, known for connecting users in rural and remote areas. Their core offerings revolve around internet connectivity with a focus on areas underserved by traditional broadband.

Internet Service Options: HughesNet offers a range of plans that vary in price and data allowances, with speeds up to 25 Mbps. All plans come with data caps, and exceeding these limits can result in reduced speeds. Contract terms typically require a 24-month commitment.

Installation and Setup: Installation is generally handled by professional technicians and is often praised for its simplicity. Customers receive a satellite dish and modem, but there may be initial setup fees or equipment costs to consider.

Performance and Reliability: Users report that actual speeds can sometimes fall short of advertised speeds, particularly during peak hours. However, the network is known for its reliability in areas where other internet services are unavailable.

Customer Service: Customer service experiences with HughesNet are varied, with some users reporting quick and helpful responses, while others have faced challenges. Support is available through phone, email, and chat.

Coverage and Availability: HughesNet's primary advantage is its extensive geographic coverage, especially in rural and remote areas where other internet options are limited or nonexistent.

User Experience: Customer reviews are mixed, with some praising the service for its availability and others critiquing it for speed and data limitations. The user interface for account management is functional, and the mobile app offers additional convenience for managing services.

Additional Features and Services: HughesNet includes built-in Wi-Fi with its modems and offers a Bonus Zone, where customers can use additional data during off-peak hours. Other value-added services may be available depending on the plan.

Pricing and Value for Money: When compared to other satellite internet providers, HughesNet's pricing is competitive, but it may seem high compared to traditional broadband. The company occasionally offers promotions, but customers should be mindful of termination fees and refund policies.

Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility: HughesNet demonstrates a commitment to reducing its environmental impact and engages in various sustainability initiatives. The company also participates in community programs and strives for social responsibility.

Pros and Cons: HughesNet's key advantages include its availability in remote areas and the inclusion of features like the Bonus Zone. However, the disadvantages of speed limitations and data caps are significant. The service is best suited for users with limited internet options.

Final Verdict: HughesNet is a viable option for users in rural and remote locations who have limited access to other types of internet services. While it offers reliable coverage and some unique features, potential customers should carefully consider the speed and data limitations, as well as the overall cost, before committing. For light internet users and those without other options, HughesNet can be a suitable choice, but heavy streamers and those used to high-speed broadband may find it lacking.
