It's difficult to chronicle the vast number of complaints I have with Compass Van Lines, and in particular the owner, Avi. He essentially threatened me over the phone once I complained that the company had lost my items, and once the insurance I purchased was denied. "I know your address, don't call here anymore, " was the gist of what I got from our telephone conversation, after several discussions with other employees went nowhere.
From what I can tell, they run a scam with another outside insurance company, TG International. They run up the cost on your bill if you try to get outside insurance (approximately $400 extra), then require you to get a "full packing service", which also costs an extra $250. What they don't tell you (nor does the insurance company) is that you also must get a "full UNpacking service" to qualify for the insurance coverage. So basically you get denied immediately for any damages, because you didn't purchase an "unpacking service" that you knew nothing about. I had more than $1, 500 worth of damage and lost items that the moving company refused to document, and the insurance company refused to pay for. I've since checked the services the offer, and "unpacking" is listed nowhere. A total scam to throw business toward TG International.
Not to mention that when my items were delivered, the mover showed up by himself. I repeat, BY HIMSELF. Meaning if I wanted to get my stuff in the apartment, I had to pitch in alongside him, carrying boxes and other heavy items into the building. It was preposterous. But by that time, I was so desperate to get my stuff that I would do anything. Plus the mover didn't set up the bed or other furniture as per the contract.
As for the lost items, I have no doubt they were stolen along the way.
Compass Van Lines is an unscrupulous, fraudulent company that certainly moved from Florida to Texas in order to escape an onslaught of complaints against them. They are attempting to wreak more havoc on unsuspecting consumers.
DON"T BE LURED IN BY THE LOW PRICES. Moving is a shady business overall, but be willing to pay extra for a legitimate company that won't lose/steal your stuff and ultimately not pay up as they should once they have done the damage.
Customer service here is atrocious. The owner, Avi, is unprofessional and unreasonable. I know of no other company that would threaten its clients. But then again, once they have your stuff, you are at their mercy. BEWARE COMPASS VAN LINES!
My family and I was very impressed with how professional Compass Van Lines employees were. The sales lady and dispatch department were extemely helpful in articulating how the whole moving process works. Once the movers arrived they were prompt, courteous and friendly. This was one of our best moves and I will recommend and use Compass Van Lines again.

Moving can be stressful but Compass Van Lines made moving alot easier for my family. Everything was packed and ready to go. It took the movers little time to load our items with extreme care. The delivery took place a week later just as scheduled. We are moving back in another year and will use Compass Van Lines again.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
Once they arrived to pick up my belongings I got hit with another $500 of fees. Like if they walk more than $75 ft to carry the stuff it's an extra $100. On top of that my things being transferred from Texas to Virginia was not delivered by the time we arranged for. Horrible company and way too expensive for the bad customer service. Use at your own risk!
Last time I moved it was a disaster, this time I hired Compass Van Lines and they were successful at making me very happy.
Friendly, hardworking and arrived on time.
I would recommend them to anyone.

I don't have a complaint about Compass; they actually did a great job moving my family. I had read bad reviews (on compass and every other mover I called), but the company followed through on all their promises and didn't damage my things. Compass is one of the more honest movers out there & I would recommend them to anyone.

I was actually very satisfied with Compass Van Lines. They moved us a few months ago in Texas and nothing was damaged or stolen. We also used their free storage which was really helpful. Their movers were professional and careful when they were packing stuff up. I'd definitely use Compass again if I move.

All I can say is that Compass Van Lines saved the day. They worked from early this morning and am just finishing up, they told me it would be an all day job and the men worked really hard and didn't even take a lunch break. I ordered pizza for them because they were working so hard and diligent. This is the best company that I have used for moving and I move quite abit.

What a nice company to work with, Annie the sales lady explained everything in detail and was very acurate in her pricing. The movers were on time, friendly and very fast workers. Nothing was damaged and thing were placed accordingly.

I only have wonderful things to say about Compass Van Lines, they helped me so much I don't know where to begin. The sales rep was very understanding that this was my first move and she explained the whole process to me where I could understand it. The mover were professional and hard workers. The move didn't even cost as much as some of the other quotes I had received.

We had to move my mothers items from Kentucky to Texas this summer so after talking with alot of companies, Compass Van Lines seemed to be the most helpful. The rep went over alot of useful information and was not pushy. The move went as scheduled and we now have mom closer.

I just had a wonderful moving experience and wanted to let everyone know what just happened. The movers at Compass Vanlines even helped put my bed back together and hooked up the washer for me.

70 days straight for 100 degrees or more and we decided we needed a bigger home. After reviewing websites we chose Compass Van Lines to move us. They even provided transportation of my Acura. Over all the move was successful. We had everything wrapped and ready to go which saved us additional saving. I will recommed them to family and friends.
We had a move from Denver Colorado to Dallas, TX and needed storage for a month before we could move into our new home. Compass Van Lines provided free storage for a month and delivered our furniture in a couple of days after we told them we were ready for our move. My family is adjusting nicely and we are happy with our move.
