Air Berlin damaged clothing/luggage

7/24/17

From: Miroslawa Chroscik

Arverne, NY 11692

Re: Damaged items in the luggage. Flight from WAW to JFK, 6/29/17

To Whom It May Concern.

On 6/29/2017 I travelled from Warsaw to New York. My flight number was AB8213 WAW-TXL and AB7248 TXL-JFK. When I arrived in JFK on 6/29 my luggage was missing. I had L sized hard, a gray suitcase which I checked in WAW. At JFK airport I was not the only person with missing luggage, several other passengers flying from Warsaw were missing it too. Immediately I claimed lost luggage at the counter and was given a phone number to contact customer service in regards of my suitcase [protected]). An employee at the Air Berlin lost luggage counter informed me that my luggage will be delivered possibly within 24 hours to my house. I waited 3 days at home for my luggage, also I called and left 2 message on the number provided to me, unfortunately without any response. I had to leave my house on 7/3 for an earlier planned vacation. When I returned home on 7/19, I went to the airport to inquire about my luggage. I found out then, that my suitcase was at the airport and never delivered to my house. Employee Ruth Perez handed over my suitcase to me. When I brought home, all items ( clothing, shoes, leather purse) I noticed that everything inside was molded and not useable anymore. I had to throw all items away. I am attaching pictures of my things for your review.
I am asking why my luggage was never delivered to my house as I was told
Why was I informed that my suitcase will be brought to my house, where in the fact it remained at the airport for 3 weeks instead?
Why my suitcase was kept at the airport for 3 wks and no attempt from the airport employees was made to contact me in re this?
Why no one returned my phone calls at the number provided by the airlines? I left 2 message but got no response and no one called me back? I also was unable to reach live person under this number.
I request compensation for all damaged items.
Please, let me know how soon and how this matter can be resolved?

Miroslkawa Chroscik

Air Berlin extremely poor service/disrespectful attitude

Ive been trying to cancel my ticket with Airberlin for the past5days. All phone number they provide seem to be fake. Tried to send a fax at 4fax numbers I found on their website and online. None of them working as Ive tried numerous times. Ive sent 5emails, havent received any response. This is extremely poor service they provide. Team members ignore the emails they receive which should be dealt with as quickly as possible especially when comes to flight cancellation. I bought travel cancellation insurance n cannot even cancel my ticket as these people ignore all my messages n give fake numbers so people cannot contact them
Shame on you !

Invoice number [protected]/1
Booking # OUTO79
Booking date 11/08/2017
Ticket details:
745-[protected]/CIACH/ JAGODA MRS

My name is Jagoda Ciach, I booked a round trip flight from Chicago (ord) through Berlin to Krakow (Balice) on August 11th 2017. The full cost of the trip was $687, 95. On September 13th, only 8 days before my planned vacation I received an email informing me of my flight cancellation due to AirBerlin bankruptcy. All stressed out and shaking I managed to book another flight through LOT Airlines, which was $750.95 on the same dates. I request a full refund for my original flight, plus the price difference in amount $63. I think this kind of re-compensation request is more than generous on my side, since it costed me and my family a lot of stress and money. Also to my information I am eligible, not to say entitled (under European Law)to European Compensation. I am a Polish (European Union) Citizen who only lives oversees, and I would like to be treated as one in the resolution process. My email address is jagoda.ciach.[protected]@gmail.com

Air Berlin flight canceled and not reimbursed

I booked a flight with Air Berlin through Just Fly to go from Orland International Airport to Vienna, Austria (with one stop in Düsseldorf). I'm showing the information of the reservation below:

JustFly Booking Number: [protected]
Air Berlin Confirmation Number: KO58TF
Air Berlin Flight 7007
Date: September 10th, 2017

This flight was canceled due to Hurricane Irma and postponed to September 13th, 2017. When I arrived at Orlando International from Tampa (on Wednesday, September 13th, 2017, around 2.30 pm), I saw on the screens that the flight was delayed, but the new departure time was not available. I tried to find the new departure time out, but the airline would not answer the phone and the information desk at the airport (by 7 pm) was empty. After several hours at the Airport, a member of the Orlando International Airport told me that the flight was delayed until September 14th, 2017 (the next day), without notifying the passengers (neither the Airport, or Air Berlin, or Just Fly). The reason for my trip to Europe was attending a conference that was held in Vienna from September 12th through September 15th, 2017. Therefore, traveling to Viena on September 14th would not make any sense since the conference will be over by the time I get to Viena. Therefore I ask for a refund to Just Fly (I called them by phone), the company through which I booked my flight, and they tell me that they won't reimburse my money because the company went onto bankrupt and they won't reimburse flights booked before August 15th, 2017.

All I want is a refund for the cost of my flight to Vienna since I haven't been able to attend the conference.

Air Berlin denied compensation, wet luggage, misdirection, and bad service

Claim reg. invoice no. [protected]/1, booking ref. UQWRL8

With reference to the mail Air Berlin sent us 21st of august 2017, informing us that we should make our claim known and since Air Berlin haven't contacted us with proper instructions and a form to fill out, we Danielle Berlin Holm and Nickie Malu Dyhrberg hereby make our claim known.

Events:
The 26th of July we arrive at Tegel Airport, Berlin, more than 2 hours before take off as requested. Our tickets are for the 9:20 flight to Copenhagen. In check-in we are told that, we have been put on standby, but they will check in our suitcases and we should proceed as normal.
At boarding we are then informed that there is not room for us on the plane, but we should now get our suitcases and be re-booked for a new flight. We were then told that 1) we should have come earlier 2) this happens when you book from other travelwebsites. We where at checkin as expected and purchased our tickets directly from Airberlin's website, so the accusations are not valid. We where also informed, when asking, that it might not be possible to catch the next flight as the planes were very booked that day.
We are then escorted to the arrival hall by the man from the boarding desk. He tells us that it might not be possible to get seat at the next flight, since the plane is very booked. He then leaves us at the arrival hall and tells us to wait at the luggage conveyer belt until our suitcases arrives after which we should then proceed to AirBerlin customer service, who will re-book our fligh. After 15 minutes we decide that if we are to get on the next plane, it might be good to split the tasks. 1 of us waits for the suitcases, the other goes to talk with AirBerlin customer service desk. We ask several staffmebers at the arrival hall, but no one is sure, if the suitcases will arrive there or what to do-
AirBerlin customer service desk rebooks us for the 13:20 flight same day, but cannot give an answer as to where our luggage is, the answer is directly “no idea”. At the same time 40 minutes has now passed in the arrival hall, and the luggage haven't shown up yet.
At the AirBerlin Check-in they can finally inform that the luggage will already be on the next plane. We are then able to reunite outside the arrival hall and check in again. 1 hour has now passed since we were dropped off at the conveyor belt, which we should never have been dropped off at. We fill out the compensation forms.
We go through the security check-in once again. And since we haven't been offered any form of food or drink, we now have to buy something to eat and drink.
Pho Gha for 8.30 eur
Baguette Provolone for 5 eur
A bottled water from a machine for around 3.50
And a pressed juice for around 4.50
At no point are we offered any compensation for this, even though we are now 4 hours delayed.
We then wait in the designated waiting area. And we are beginning to wonder where the staff is at the boarding desk. It then turns out that this flight is delayed. First from 13:20 to 14:50, then to 14:55, then to 15:25. At no point were there staffmembers to explain the situation. It seemed to be rather understaffed as the gate next to us was completely unstaffed, but the phone kept ringing.

When finally seated in the plane and ready for take off. The captain inform us that the super professional staff did their best, but there had been luggage left on 'unattended' and therefore this delay.
When arriving in Copenhagen around 17 our luggage arrive completely drenched as if it has been standing out on the landing field from the morning flight took off at 9:20 AM until the next flight took off at 15:25. Needless to say that we at this time in the events are really furious.

We then go to register our complaint at Kastrup Airport. We are informed here that AirBerlin is the number 1 company that people complain about. This does not surprise us. The staff here spends enormous time figuring out wether or not the suitcase is blue or green. Not that it matters, the suitcase is wet, inside and outside. The other luggage is completely drenched. All material inside is just wet. As we are to catch a train the next day this is less than ideal, since we now have to hurry and get all our belongins dryed before the next part of our journey.

Making the complaint about the luggage then takes 1 hour. This because the first staffmember accidentally deletes the whole report, looks at her watch and conclude she actually needed to take her break a while ago and the redirects us to another staffmember, who rewrites the whole report. We include a copy of the report with this complaint.

We chose the more expensive planetrip over a busride to save time. In fact with all the events happening on this journey we would have arrived earlier for a cheaper price without the stress and with dry suitcases. The way the staff conducted itself is beyond criticism. At no point were anyone willing to take responsibility and we kept getting redirected.
AirBerlin's further actions in this case
The 15th of August 2017 we were both advised by email that a compensation would be transferred to our accounts within a few days. The amount was 250 EUR for each (all in all 500eur). This was only to compensate for the fact that we where put on a later plain, being delayed 4 hours.
The 21st of August 2017 we were then informed that the compensation was cancelled because of the current insolvency proceedings. It was informed that we would receive a letter to further inform us and including a form to fill out. This has not arrived.

Claim
This horror of a day should be compensated! This is below bad service! This is the least you can do!
We need to be compensated for
- Being delayed with 4 hours, because we weren't put on our original plain
- Being delayed furthermore with 2.5 hours, because the next plain was delayed
- Food and drinks that we had to buy in the airport, because we were never offered anything to eat or drink
- Our suitcases being left in the rain to a point where our suitcases where drenched and paper materials in our luggage was ruined.

We know that you were looking forward to your flights as well as your journey and that you expect smooth procedure from booking to service on board. Unpredictable events during airline operations are annoying for us as well since such occurences require complex adjustments of flight rotation.

Air Berlin delay

Hallo.

Air Berlin lost luggage

My family is currently in FLR without their luggage for a week now! No one at AB answers when you call [protected], I have called them 6 times in the last 3 days and have been on hold over 30 minutes each time. They are missing 4 bags under 3 files: FLRAB12017, FLRAB12013 (2 bags), and FLRAB12014 which has heart medication in it (yes, he had 5 days worth in his carry on, but that it long gone). They flew on Sept. 2nd from BOS to DUS then on to FLR the morning of the 3rd. They are staying over an hour from the airport and have driven back there twice to see if the luggage is there, but no luck. The tag numbers are AB662129 (meds in bag), AB662119, AB662123 and AB662145. Please get these bags to them as soon as possible, they believe that the bags are just sitting in DUS.

Air Berlin flight cancellation

Hello,

I'm not sure if you recall but we have contacted you on Wednesday, September 6th, to check the status of our Friday flight no AB7213 from Miami to Berlin. Since then, while being forced to evacuate from Miami, we were stressfully waiting to hear from you- as we were promised. However, that never happened. Thankfully one of us speaks German and was able to gather the spread pieces of information from your twitter and website that our flight was cancelled and that you are offering a free rebooking of our tickets. As I mentioned, we were forced to leave Miami, so we drove 2500km to Boston (paying over $1000 for the cheapest car available as it was the only means of transportation) as you only offered rebookings to airberlin operated flights. Now we are stuck in the US, paying enormous amounts of money for basic food and accommodation that we weren't prepared to spend. We have been calling your American, German and Polish hotlines countless times for the past few days but were never able to get in touch with anyone. The fact that you are putting your customers in such a position is ridiculous and unacceptable. We are waiting for your immediate contact at +[protected]

Best regards,
Katarzyna Sasinowska
Jeremias Kögl

Air Berlin luggage lost

I flew with Airberlin August 26th from Boston to Berlin through Duesseldorf

The original flights were AB7473 and AB6434. However because there was a delay from Boston I missed the connection flight and I was boarded a bit later from Duesseldorf to Berlin (AB6436).

Unfortunately my luggage got lost and has not been found yet. The reference number is Reference-No: TXLAB43367 and the BAG-Tag No(s): AB297335. It has not been declared lost yet but apart from some automated emails claiming that they are still searching I cannot find anyone on the phone to help me.

Regardless my return flight was 6th of September and I had to buy some clothes and basic necessities for my stay there. So as a first step I need to get a refund for this expense. The amount is 266, 89 euros. We will have to reassess if my luggage is declared lost.

Kind Regards
Konstantinos Linos

Air Berlin lost luggages

Dear Sir/Madam,

After losing our house in last year's Canadian wildfire which we totally lost all our possession this year trip was our ever first vacation. We really planned this trip as a treat to our kids who did above and beyond in school academic despite everything that we are going through.

First of all checking in from Venice, Italy to go Germany was difficult. We we're the first one to check in but the agent told us that we are being transferred to Lufthansa. Lined up in Lufthansa and waited long just to be told that we are not booked there. Went back to Air Berlin and finally able to checked in all our all our luggage's to ease our journey (we have 3 young children). When we got out the plane our luggage's didn't came out. Nowhere to be found that's when they told us to report to lost and found. It was very frustrating to know because we are only in Germany for 2 nights ( after seeing London, Rome and Venice). The only thing I have was my purse, everything else was checked in. Nothing to wear and no where to buy because we arrived in the middle of the night. By the way, our flight was almost 2 hours delayed. Imagine, planning a trip and got mess up? We brought all our best stuff on that trip. And shopping is not on the top of our list. We wanted to see the beauty of Europe. Shopping was not easy either when you don't have much time and you're next flights are already booked.

Oh! We got the 2 backpacks of the kids when we are checking out at the hotel. I demand a compensation for all the hassles and missing 3 luggage's please.
The following is my lost and found record:
FILE REFERENCE: TXLAB43510/27AUG/2146GMT
NAME: CORAZON POLICARPIO
FLIGHT/DATE: ABB775/27AUG/AB6454/27AUG/
NUMBER OF BAGS: 5

Thank you very much. Hoping for your urgent action on this matter.

Sincerely,
Corazon Policarpio

Air Berlin change time of my flight, ask for refund for hotel/taxi

Francesca Virdis, [protected]. Passport n. YA2469290

August 28th, 2017 Date of the flight I took to come back in US, from Milan Linate to NY JFK, 1 stop in Dusseldorf.
Air berlin changed my flight from Dusseldorf (departing 9.05 pm from Milan Linate to JFK, the original flight was at 3.00pm from Milan to Dusseldorf).
The flight from Dusseldorf to NY JFK was the day after August 29th, 2017 at 10.45 am so I had to book an hotel in Dusseldorf because my flight was next day in the morning. Before traveling I spoke with one of your collegue and he told me to fill this form to have a refund for hotel and taxi. He told me I left a note too.
Please, let me know if you need some other information to fix this problem.

I uploaded the receipts of the hotel and the taxi (I lost one of the original receipt for the taxi to go back to the airport but I found the receipt from my bank account, I hope it is ok anyway).

Please, let me know soon!
My email address is [protected]@hotmail.com

Thank you in advance,
Francesca Virdis
