I have a Mother with cardiac issues and a sister with disabilities and have spent some time at the ER at the Cleveland Clinic in Vero Beach. Every time it is the same. The staff seem attentive, supportive, and knowledgable. If you hit the jackpot your loved one gets a private room. If they don’t they get left in front of the nurses station which turns into the dump zone as the evening progresses. Whatever you do don’t go at shift change. The team that was caring and sometimes attentive has gone home, you won’t have a clue who is in charge of your loved one’s care for hours. It will be you that is worried that they haven’t eaten in hours (and are not on a medical watch preventing it). It will be you reminding them of medicine your loved one requires at specific times of the day and their response will be - we will get to it on our schedule. After 7pm you will hear and see things you wish you wouldn’t have. (Especially if you get one of the spots in the hallway.). I have heard excellent things about HCA Lawnwood and Orlando Health in Sebastian. I highly suggest you check those out if you can. There was an apology by Cleveland Clinic in the local paper some time ago. I was hopeful they were sincere and that change would happen. Well here we are waiting 4.5 hours for a loved one to be transferred. Nothing has been done and her care team left 40 minutes ago and we have no idea who is going to facilitate the next steps of care. There are many good things about Vero Beach but good healthcare is not one of them.

Recommendation: Try health related services at Orlando Health in Sebastian or HCA Lawnwood.
