Cinemark - Discrimination due to new bag policy

Hello I just want to warn all minorities that plan to attend this theatre that according there is a new bag policy that will prohibit you from going into the theatre. This was me and my hubbies first date night in a long time so we decided to go see the Invisible Man. We had pre paid for out tickets so I was excited. When we arrive to the ticket booth inside the guy said that he'd have to check my purse size. I said okay I didn't realize there was a bag policy for theatres. He said that he couldn't let me inside the theater due to my purse size being bigger than his clipboard. I said that my car windows are not tinted so I could put it in the car and I asked if I take out my wallet can they keep the purse with them. He said no that they couldn't do that. I said okay well can I speak to a manager and she called for the manager who was a woman. I explained what was going on and she very rudely said no that I couldn't bring a purse inside and that they follow very strict policies about the new bag polish which was just implemented on February 22, 2020. I explained that we had pre paid for our tickets and she said well they can be refunded. Hubby went over and got the refund while I told their beside him and noticed that another women with a purse similar to mine, who happened to be white, went to the ticket guy. That same manager was there and she saw me looking to see if this new movie goer was going to get the same treatment. The manager took the clipboard shrugged her shoulders and let the lady and her family inside. It was clearly bigger than the clipboard. I was dismayed, disappointed and felt so second class. Tears welled up in my eyes. I was definitely discriminated against and will be following with corporate in the morning but I wanted let anyone who frequent this theatre know. I did call the theatre manager and spoke to another manager who stated her name was Cindy and she assured that she will speak to all her employees about giving fair treatment with this new policy to everyone. Still that does not take away from the sadness I feel.

Cinemark - discrimination against hispanic women

Last Saturday, I went to this movie theather with my mother (67 y/o) my aunt (65 y/o) and my kids (6 y/o), when we try to enter, Mr. Jay Sotang the ticket taker, told us that my mom and aunt can not enter because her purses were to big and a new policy does not allow it, I asked him to please check inside the purses and let us in, because the parking was far and it was really hot, he said no, we can not go in, however I understood and I went to the car to leave the purses there, when I came back I notice that he was allowing every other women with big purses into the theater, I asked him why he did not let us, in a very rude way told me that is the rule and told me to move away from the line, and asked him to please call the manager, when the manager came Mr. Jacob Scoby, he repeated the same about the rule, he told me that senior citizen can go in with the purse when I told him that my mom and aunt are seniors, he then told me that because of the movie The Joker they don't allow the purses, then I told him we were going to see the Addams Family, he went back to that's the rule, I am not complaining about the rule, I complaint because the rule was ONLY APPLIED TO US, I do not know if I was treated like that because I was a woman or a black Hispanic woman, but I feel completely discriminated, in the 25 minutes I was there talking to Mr. Scoby, no one else was send back to the parking, or denied the entrance to the theater, only to us, no one ever apologized, no one ever tried to fix the problem Mr. Sotang was looking at me like I was garbage and smiled when I left, because I just request my money back and leave, I never felt more humiliated in my live, like the way your staff make me feel last Saturday, ruining the afternoon for my kids, and my senior citizen mother and aunt. I did not know your company approved discrimination policies.

Cinemark - i'm complaining about an issue that happened to me when I was working at cinemark

The cinemark that I worked for I always got the job right I always was on task was a fast lerner and I never got introoble or write up but today a new manager that's use to be an employee went to the gm and wrote me for termination and that is because I was siting in the break room charging my phone about to clock back in and I stayed for at least 8 minutes because I had to charge my phone because it was dead and I needed it on so my dad knows when to get me and she came looking for me saying I already clocked in and I was suppose to be on the floor and I said I understood and I apologized and when on to finish my job and later to ight she callled me in to go in the offince and the general manager was there and she told me she was going to terminate me she did not give me a warning or wrote me up she just fired me on the spot and I never did anything wrong I always was a hard worker and earlier that day that same manager saw me sitting in the theatres when I was waiting for the movie to end because I was ushering and I only sat down for 1 min because I injured my whole leg and thigh from playing softball and when I stand up too long I get a very sharp pain and sometimes I walk it off but since i've been working everyday with a 8-10hour shift and I still haven't gotten a day off my leg was getting in pain badly so I only sat down for a minute and she saw me getting up and decided to tell the general manager and wrote me up for termination so I think that's not right and I deeply need to file a complaint because she said I couldnt have a warning and that I have to leave immediately
