To Whom It May Concern, To start its raining hard today in louisiana and both doors are leaking.
I am writing regarding the home recently purchased by my daughter, Shelby Foster, and her fiancé, Kade Mott, from LA Manufactured Homes in the Lake Charles/Moss Bluff, Louisiana area. The home was purchased less than 90 days ago.
Prior to moving into the home, there were numerous deficiencies that were identified. They were instructed by your staff to move into the home, mark all discrepancies with blue tape, and after living in the home for approximately 30 days, a contractor would return to complete the necessary repairs.
A contractor did come to the home approximately two weeks ago. Unfortunately, very few of the issues were addressed, and the work that was performed was unacceptable. The contractor used the wrong color of sealant, left sealant and debris on furniture, and removed all of the blue tape identifying the remaining defects before the repairs were completed.
The following issues remain unresolved:
Countertop substrate is broken in half.
Ceiling is turning yellow.
Shower caulking is separating, uneven, and poorly applied.
Bathtub is scratched.
Holes remain in the walls.
Trim is separating and was never properly caulked.
Cabinet surfaces have bubbles.
Front door has bubbling and a large crack.
Three kitchen windows will not open, creating a potential safety hazard during an emergency evacuation.
Large crack in the living room wall.
Flooring is lifting.
Kitchen countertops are torn and damaged in multiple areas.
Kitchen cabinets are broken.
Kitchen sink is scratched.
Oven is scratched after a microwave was dropped on it during installation.
Crack in the second bedroom wall.
Faucets are scratched.
HVAC access door will not close properly.
Insulation is exposed inside the home near the back door.
Insulation is falling out from underneath the home.
Shelby and Kade have contacted LA Manufactured Homes on several occasions regarding these issues and have repeatedly been told that the matter is being worked on. However, little progress has been made.
Several of these defects are no longer simply cosmetic. The home is leaking, causing additional damage to the property. The inoperable windows present a significant life safety concern in the event of an emergency evacuation. Exposed insulation creates concerns regarding energy efficiency, moisture intrusion, and pest infestation.
Shelby and Kade purchased a new home with the expectation that it would be free of major defects and that any warranty items would be corrected promptly and professionally. They have been patient throughout this process and simply want the home they purchased to meet the quality standards that were promised.
We respectfully request that LA Manufactured Homes provide a definitive plan and schedule for correcting all outstanding warranty items as soon as possible. We would appreciate having this matter resolved so Shelby and Kade can finally enjoy their new home without the ongoing frustration and additional damage being caused by these unresolved issues.
