Atlantic Circulation Inc. SCAM - magazine sales

2/20/2010 - Young, white, blonde hair ~ 5'4" tall arrived at door and said his name was Jay Kurelko, that he lived 2 streets over. Said my neighbor (told me her name) was a friend and that she said he should come see me, that I would be nice to him. He was raising "points" by selling magazines for a trip to London with his soccer team. Said he got double points for cash. On and on...

It's a SCAM! Police are looking for them. Call the police and get them picked up.

Atlantic Circulation Inc. Pre paid for magazines and have not recieved them

A young man came to my door on September 20, 2009 asking if I would be interested in helping him win a trip to Europe by purchasing magazines. He said if I purchased part cash, part check he would get more more points. I selected two year subscription of "Rolling Stone" for $70.00 and paid $15.00 in cash and wrote a check for $55. He informed me that I would start to receive the magazine in 12 weeks. When I checked my bank account, I discovered my personal check #7484 made out to Atlantic Circulation Inc. was posted on October 1, 2009. It is now February 5, 2010 and I still have not received my magazines. I have contacted the company via their website and have not had a response. I am outraged that I have not received my pre paid product and that the young man wasn't a student trying to earn his way to Europe. I have 4 children and they have participated in fundraisers through their school to take class trips to places like Yosemite, Washington D.C. and Ashland, Oregon for the Shakespearean Festival. My children did honest work to earn their money to make those trips and if Atlantic Circulation Inc. is using children (he said he was in high school) to sell a product and not deliver, they are committing fraud. I want either my magazines or a refund for services unrendered.

Kyleb75-
I've done a lot of looking around and it's clear that your Attorney General is likely aware of this scam and they are specifically targeting these violations of the "3-day right of rescission law" where we have every right to cancel our orders by law. Just a suggestion. This is ridiculous, totally agree.

Anyone who has been scammed like me, please contact me at Flyentology2@gmail.com I'm starting to get things ready to put this company out of business. I need everyone who wrote these testimonials to help me. My name is Kyle, and I was scammed on may 26, 2010. She wanted to go to broadcasting school. I was fooled bad. After I told my girlfriend about the magazine subscription, she said not to do it.. Like any good boyfriend, I listened. It's been two weeks since my requst for a refund, and I haven't seen a dime. After I called the company, they said sometimes things get lost in the mail... When I brought all of the scam stories to her attention, she said these kind of things happen. After that I knew they had to come down. on top of fraudulant subscriptions, they put kids out on the street; far away from home, to solocit their crime. They must be stopped, and I need everyone to he'll lead the way.

Thank you,
Kyle

Atlantic Circulation Inc. Not receiving Magazines

I have never received magazines purchased from a kid going door to door. He said these magazines were being sold to earn points to win a college scholarship, and that his team was competing against a girl's team doing the same thing. I purchased Bass Master for my husband, Rachel Ray, and Woman's Day which totaled $110. I think we have been scammed, this order was placed Aug. 2009 and it is now Dec. 17, 2009. Please be aware of this company, and these door to door sales kids. It's a RIP OFF!

Atlantic Circulation Inc. Scam

I was approached outside my local Target store by a young ma. He stated that he was involved in a contest to win tuition and travel money. He said that I could help him by purchasing magazines. The best way to help him, he said, was by donating a subscription of the Disney magazine to a women's shelter. This would earn him extra bonus points. I wrote out a check for $48.00 which he took. I got a receipt numbered. Upon returning home, I realized that this did not seem like a legitimate business, so I followed the procedures on the back of my receipt to cancel the order. I mailed it certified mail, and it has been received by Atlantic Circulation Inc. Their contract states that if I cancel, any payments made will be returned within 10 business days following the receipt by them of my cancellation notice. I was shocked today to see that there are so many other complaints lodged against this company. I hope that this can help someone else. If you are approached by someone representing this company, keep your money. It is a scam.

In 2012, A young lady name, Alexis Doble sold me subscriptions to Golf Week, Taste of Home, and Readers Digest. She claimed she worked for Atlantic Circulation, Inc. She provided me with pink receipt bearing the company name address, and phone: 2550 Kingston road, suite 113 York, PA 17402, [protected]. Receipt appeared completely legitimate. In fact, the entire process if the sale appeared legitimate. However, sadly was a scam and of course, no subscriptions received.

A young person came to my residence selling magazine subscriptions. I bought one called Unique Homes that was touted as inside tours of unique estates. What I received was ONE real estate magazine featuring high end homes that I could have received free. This is an out and out scam.

Well, like several others out there, I had a clean record of not having been scammed until two young men showed up at my door selling magazines for their trip to Europe. Immediately after they left with $40 for a 3-year subscription to Outside Magazine, I got online, saw the list of complaints about Atlantic Subscription Inc. being a complete scam, and knew I'd been had.

At first, I was just going to let it go, say goodbye to the $40, and let it be a lesson of "NEVER AGAIN"--but after I heard several stories about how these kids (young adults in age but kids in maturity and how they've been dealt a bad hand in life), it became all about trying to stop people from taking advantage of kids like these.

So, I've submitted a cancellation and made a copy and sent it to the Attorney General. I also have other copies and will continue to pursue this and make life difficult for the company until they step in and put a stop to this.

Atlantic Circulation Inc. employee abuse

My 19 year old son took off on this venture 9 days ago. He was promised free room & transportation & $20.00 a day cash for personal expenses during a 2 week training period. Now that he is in another state he has to help pay for the room each night & doesn't get his $20.00 a day. If they don't get cash sales for the day then nobody gets any money. People do not receive magazines. It's a scam. They just take your cash & spend it to live from day to day. They left my son & another kid stranded at a gas station in West Virginia because the "managers" didn't have enough gas to pick them back up at the "meeting point". So now I'm on my way to West Virginia to get my kid & bring him home. Unfortunately, alot of the kids don't have family that will help them get back home so they are stuck because they never get paid more than a few bucks at a time & have to use that to eat. When I tried to find the website for this "company" it says the domain name is for sale. You would think that somebody could put a stop to this.
Sincerely,

I am horrified not only by what I found when investigating this business but also by what my friend and I experienced in trying to get my 20 year old son back from a "CREW"!
My son took a job with a crew that had come into our hometown. Once they had "recruited" him they took off to their next destination which was not one that my son was told they were going to. They had my son 3 hours away from home before I even knew he was gone. It does not matter if your "kid" is under or over the legal age of 18 - they are still your "kid" and mine was not going to be experiencing any of the horrors that I had read about!
It is unbelievable to me that this organization has not been brought to justice. My heart breaks for these kids that are tricked into taking a job that turns out to be nothing like what they are promised but instead a form of slave labor with all types of abuse!
With the help of a police officer, family and friends we were able to research the company and find out what my son had gotten himself into and then remove him before we had lost him for good.
In the two/three days that my son had "worked" for this company he had his eyes opened as to what it was really going to be like for him with them and when I was able to reach him he was already trying to figure a way out.
If you are a kid trapped in a crew please know that there is a way out for you. Just reach out to someone, anyone and you can find help. If you are someone who is approached by a crew member or manager...remember what you were taught when young...don't talk to strangers and run! If your a parent looking for your child my heart goes out to you. Have hope and if people can keep spreading the word about this awful business maybe something will come about to bring an end to it!
My son is safe and home.

its all true, i just got left in columbia south carolina at a greyhound station with no ticket, money, anything. It got so bad i started getting hit when i had so sales, he said it was either that or take a bus home. I made the mistake of letting my manager know i had nowhere to go if i ever left mag crew. They played me hard and no matter how many sales i had i saw at the most 5 or ten bucks a night, there was always a reason he couldnt pay me like or crew was too small and all the cash got u Csed for the room, or hed give me five bucks and say he had me later when people paid him back. When id ask for it later id get told to get out of his face and dont ask him for nothin. Theyre stupid response would always be GO TO WORK. Theyre a bunch of modern day gypssys that take advantage of kids with nothing and promise them the world and treat them like prostitutes and slave labor them until people realize whats going down and literally have to escape in the middle of the night to not get jumped by these psychos. NEVER TAKE THE JOB its all bs what they tell you, its a huge scam and they act like its not, i think they actually beleive their own lies. I dont know how they sleep at night. Atlantic Circulation Inc. This place is a BIG scam/cult

These people are COMPLETE scam artists! And they show Cult like mentality! They go around and recrute young kids to sale these magazines and they prey on the week, poor kids that dont have anyone or anything! Then they promise them a better life and they take them far away from home, work them half to death and dont pay them! They have kidnapped some of these kids and they have prostituted some of them among other crimes they commit! They have been charged with fraud several times because people never get the magazines they payed for! The leaders, bosses, supervisors or whatever they call themselves are VERY much criminals and I advise if these kids show up on your door step that you descretely call the police to have the names and ages of the kids checked out! So Parents and Children alike, BEWARE of these people! They are not who/what they say!

It's a lifestyle change. Some people come onto a crew with nothing and either leave a better person or stick with it to get higher in the company and prosper. Others that have something better at home leave sour and resentful. Regardless, business is business and 006 is the real deal.

listen, what i posted months ago wasnt necessarily true. granted, i did have my fn, travel, met some incredible people both on and off doors, but the truth is, everyone holds their own opinion. for some, mag crew is the best thing to ever happen to them and for others, its the worst thing. we've all got glam stories, and horror stories as well, but, we are all entitled to our opinion. ive made mistakes my entire life, but i dont regret any of them. and that goes for mag crew as well, had i NOT joined, i wouldnt be the cold hearted, selfish, mean spirited, ignorant [censor] i am today. with every experience, we all leave with something, me, thank god i left with simple knowledge of the world around me...thanks to mag crew, im much more efficient as far as being independent, intellegent, and head strong. so thank mat and company, i appreciate the [censor] talk, down put, low life terms you all put not just me, but all of us through, without that, i'd still be simple minded and easy hearted, instead, im a mean yet sterne person. so, once again...[censor] YOU 006 AND MATT, have a splendid [censor]ing day. AND FOR ANYONE WHO TRIES TO TELL ME OTHERWISE, TRUST ME, I KNOW IM RIGHT ON THIS ONE, so go ahead and waste ur time, because you dont know me and have no idea...have a nice day all:):)

Mag Queen, as much as I can appreciate your shot at this, Matt Nagengast smokes more dank than anyone I know in my entire life. Yes he regulates to make sure there are no hard drugs like coke, ecstasy, [censor] like that, but there is plenty of marijuana in matts crew, please. Don't [censor] everyone. As for alcohol, there's an abundance of that too.

"Weeds not a drug, blee blee blee." Well yes, it is, and so is alcohol, so there is plenty of both.

Is it really so hard to be honest or not post at all?

I'm glad you got your life turned around (if you're even telling a true story) but selling magazines isn't a future, it's a 100 ton paperweight that will keep you down for as long as you're stupid enough to buy into this mess.

Wait till you have a bad week with no sales. Then you'll be nothing all over again.

I really believe that noone knows exactly what they are talking about in this matter. So i will tell you my story. I had absolutely nothing. Drugs & alchohol was my life. I was a disgrace to my family. Mag crew came to my town, and when they offered me a job, i said yeah right. For a few weeks, i thought about it. And i decided to give it a shot. What's the worst that could happen. My first few days, it was different, from my usual drug filled days. It turned out that i was good at selling magazines. I made 80-200 a day. And i was off of drugs. No desire to do drugs what so ever, the hotel I was in was a drug free/alchohol free hotel. (Thanks to Matt Nagengast). I went from robbing & lieing to people, to finding something that I was actually good at. My family for the first time is proud at the person that I have become, thanks to mag crew. Without them I don't want to imagine where I would be, probably smoking crack and robbing people instead of selling them a magazine. Mag crew gave me hope for my future, it showed me how powerful of a person I could be if I set my mind to something.

There are some bad companies out there. ACI is not one of them. Well I can't speak for the whole company, but Matt Nagengast is not one of them. He gives people the opportunity to change their lives around everyday, and he cares. And he has changed more lives than ANY ONE PERSON COULD DO IN A LIFETIME. I promise you that. I'm one of them.

In the case that you feel that you have been "scammed", you could possibly have been. But not by our company. The chances are, if you did not receive your magazines, you did not fill out the receipt properly. Or your address was illegibel. You should have looked over the receipt properly before signing at the hearts

I was a mag agent myself and still get Maxim magazines in the mail haha.

Actually, I was a mag agent FOR Matt Nagengast. Only for the experience of traveling. Half the kids there are troubled, have warrants, runaways, druggies, etc. I left after awhile. Matt's an alright guy, I do hope he makes it out of the business and succeeds.

Now Kristi, I must disagree with you. Is it really the consumers fault for trusting the younger generation when their own kids participate in magazine contests in school? Besides, all the kids that work for ACI can make more money flipping burgers part time. It's not because the lack of sales, but making half of an already [censor] front (9 bucks?) is ridiculous. Cramped motel rooms, cramped [censor] vans, being respected by how many magazines you sell even after work hours... really? My worth isn't measured off the fronts of a Humpty Dumpty magazine. Most of those kids have no dreams, no ambitions, just want "money" to buy SWEET NEW CLOTHES AND GEAR!1!1 and smoke and blow lines. Didn't get any sales? Or a low number? You're not doing [censor] tonight. Need to go to the store? Too bad, you sucked [censor] today.

Consumers aren't at fault for trusting kids at their door, it's the "kids" that are at fault for having [censor] for morals. They work hard because they are forced to if they want to sleep in a bed and not the floor, or go to the store to pick up something to eat at night. I was one out of like 3 people that had a drivers license. AT 18. Not even the car handlers had a license. Half the time they were in jail for smoking a blunt in a parking lot.

Don't try and defend this "business." It's a sickening "profession" and needs to be taken care of.

If any mag agents are reading this, go home. Your moms and dads miss you dearly. Stop idolizing your boss. You're nothing to them.

Double-O Six for life. Bahaha. Slave trade for life. Moms, Dads, bring your kids home already.

I have to agree with whoever it was that said those kids are just doing their jobs. some of them work harder than half of americans with different jobs and i give them credit. I myself did the whole magazine sales door to door. granted I didnt always have the best experiences, the good always out-weighed the bad. Its not my fault or any other mag agent, that some of you "jones" are illiterate and believe the dis-honest kids...reality...if a kid says they live around there, goes to school or college there, part of some sports team, or anything outside of a contest, its your mistake to fall for it. All im saying is when i was a magazine kid for a year, ive had countless people cry to me, yell at me, argue with me, and tell me the only reason they "helped out" was because they liked me. Half the time those same people assumed they'de never get their magazines, but you wanna call my mother? She gets all her magazines. Stop bashing kids who work harder than most of you do, for a living. Thanks...Kristi Leigh Dumas:)

Atlantic Circulation Inc. Never received magazines

A very friendly young man came to our door and sold me a magazine subscription. I paid partly in cash and the rest by check. The receipt said delivery should begin in 120 days. That was July of 08. By January of 09 I still hadn't received anything. I emailed customer service (because I couldn't get through on the phone). The next day I received a call from someone named Nikki (no last name) who said the publisher had my address incorrect. I told them I wanted to just cancel and get a refund. I was instructed to mail in my receipt and I have done so. We'll see how that goes.
The best way to subscribe to a magazine is through the magazine itself. Don't bother with these people. It is such a headache.

It is amazing...we have all been teenagers either trying to make an honest buck or dreamed of winning an awesome vacation...folks this just doesn't seem the way to do it. My story is the same as the rest...young teen shows up at the door promised the grand European vacation by selling magazines. His name was Demitrus Brown, if that was his real name. Nothing was mentioned of cash and I provided a check for my purchase but alas...never recieved the product. The order was placed months ago and I just submitted an e-mail to this Atlanticcirculation.com's shady looking website. I'm also going to try and contact my bank to see if there is anything that can be done from that side...thanks for all the advise and other websites posted to help stop this company.

Atlantic Circulation Inc. Took my money, no magazines ever delivered.

In June of this year, a young man came to my door with a story about trying to achieve so many points to win a trip and an opportunity to start his own business. I ordered a magazine subscription (5 years, Country Weekly). The cost was $70, plus $12 fee. I have not received any magazines, the check was cashed almost immediately. I am now reading that other people have been scammed by this company, and I don't understand how they get away with this?

I worked for this company for almost a year. People get their magazines as long as the agent turns in the order. People make good money as long as they are good at selling. The "children" that are starving just suck at their job and don't make enough money to eat. They are told up front it is commission, no base pay. You sell, you name money. You don't sell, you're broke. If people aren't making enough to eat they should quit. P.S. the ""children" are all over 18. You have to be to work for this company. Anyone telling you they are in high school/college are lying. This is a job. That isn't the company's fault though. The agents are specifically told not to say things like that. The same goes for saying they are local, because they aren't. A few bad agents spoil the bunch, but the ones who lie are dealt with by the managers. Also, FYI...Krystal Ball and Teddy Drum are their real names. I worked with them.

Very sad! I live in Columbia, SC and the crew hit my neighborhood 2/17/11. The same story about school as related by the two young girls was rehearsed and I bought a subscription to "Fly Rod and Reel" for $57.00, cash. No magazine, it is now 7/6/11, and I have contacted the company twice, the first time in April and the second just an hour ago. Both times I was told to send them a copy of the receipt via email. This morning 'Jenny' told me they had never received my first email. I did not tell her it was sent in April. I called after resending this time to make sure the second email was received, spoke with 'April' and she alluded to the fact that they never received my April, 11 email (sounded like a slip of the tongue by the way she recovered), REALLY? I suppose it could be but somehow my confidence is shaken, especially after reading the entries on this site.

I intend to contact the Atty. General here in SC and the neighborhood associations to warn them. There are many retirees living in our area and I am sure the young people are hard to resist. Hopefully we will be ready for them when they come back, their circuit appears to be every two years give or take a month. I want to encourage all of you writing to be pro active with this. We all wrote a letter here, the least we can do is to follow through with our elected officials and hopefully they will be responsive and work together among themselves across state lines to put Atlantic Circulation out of business!

I ordered two magazines and thank god there was no funds in my account the check that was sent through was $20.00 when I wrote the check for $91.00 I'm going into my bank tomorrow to see what can be done about this. Something just isn't right and i'm fixing it a.s.a.p. I don't know why they would write it for a different amount but i'm not trusting it anyways.

NO attitude. I was ALMOST scammed. Did give her a check, but got a feeling after she left that something was not right, so Googled it. Sure enough, came up on this site. I immediately called my bank and had the check cancelled, however, I am a little nervous about her having my account number ! Also called the local police, but these folks are trained to be pretty quick. Fast talkers and giving you the best story that they can. This girl claimed to be pregnant and claimed that she too was from Texas and her name was supposedly Bobbi Harvey. We think she said Bobbi Ann Harvey, so the boyfriend joked about where is Harvey, because he thought that she said Bobbi AND Harvey. She carried on an accident, which I wasn't too confident in, but try to be a trusting person ! I am going to quickly email all of my friends/family with this REAL scam...I have not looked it up on Scopes, but I am a VERY RECENT victim, so I KNOW it is legit !

I ordered a magazine on 8/19/10...same story..kid trying to earn points. Was supposed to receive magazine by 12/19/10. Waited until 2/16/11 to contact them and was told "there was a delay". "Magazine will be delivered in June". I requested a refund and was told I would have it in 7-21 working days. Yesterday was day 21...still no check and no magazine. Contacted them again last night (email) and got a reply today stating that my check will be mailed out on 3/31/11 (in 2 weeks)...Not gonna happen...contacted them again and told them they have until 3/23 to have the check in my hand or I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, a Fraud complaint with my local police department, and will be researching how to file a small claims complaint against their company to get my money (and court costs) back. It was "only" $54, but that could have gone to my family for something worthwhile...They've messed with the wrong family...I won't let go of this until I have my money back or put their company out of business!

my story was, a girl named lori Smith knocked at my door somewhat an hour ago, then offered me this kind of stuffs to help her get a scholarship program. she'd explained this and that; i asked her a question, so where r u going for college; she replied south carolina. i asked her, what degree are u trying to pursue, she said agriculture...? to tell the story short, i went online and search for this company. as soon as i came to this website and read all your comments, the first thing i have in mind was to call my bank and cancelled my check.

WOW - you can call me every type of lollipop out there. I "ordered" magazines for my daughter, neice and self in early September 2010. Check cashed pretty quickly. Same story as everyone else trying to get money for a trip to Europe, his name was Teddy Drum - not as bad as Krystal Ball but still...It is now February 9, 2011, no magazines and well beyond their 120-day delivery pledge. Tried the phone number - it was busy but will continue until I get someone on the phone.
