I recently terminated my commercial policy with The Hartford, but now these idiots at Brennan & Clark believe they can scare me into paying $157 that I don't owe. Well, they can go screw themselves because I canceled that policy and I don't owe anyone a dime for it. If they want to take legal action against me, I'll make sure it costs them way more to collect this supposed debt than it's actually worth. So, let's go ahead and do this, I dare you.

They tryna collect a debt. I sent 'em the case number from the company that hired 'em to show they overcharged me. They say I owe $577 when I only owe 288. They won't even look at the proof or reach out to the company to check if they got the wrong amount. They threatenin' to sue me and make me pay for their legal fees. I ain't gonna be forced into payin' somethin' I don't owe.

I had an insurance policy from Allstate (United States Liability) that ended coverage. I received a letter of cancellation stating this. Then I started receiving emails/calls from Brennan & Clarke stating that I owe money $173 for the time period following the policy for some unknown reason. I'm thinking this may be a scam to collect more money. I asked for an invoice showing exactly what the charges would be for and that I would gladly pay anything that I am responsible. The response I got back was that this is additional work that they would have to do, and then I was asked for a routing number and account number to take the money directly from my bank account. This sounded more and more like a scam, so I went to the ComplaintsBoard.com, and read a very similar story in another complaint, and that is when I decided to put in this complaint.

I had a debt that was overdue, which I agreed to pay. I reached out to this debt collector, Brennan & Clark, to make a payment with the amount I can afford since November. The agent I had an issue with is called Daniel R.

Due to COVID-19, I had to close down my business and I am facing financial hardship. I explained multiple times that I am willing to pay off my debt, even though I am struggling financially. However, this collector, Daniel R, was very slow in responding and wouldn't answer my questions. He also refused to accept a lower payment amount, threatened legal action, and was extremely rude in our communication. He showed no compassion.

I managed to speak to the supervisor and arrange a payment plan that is still difficult for me to manage, but I will try my best. However, Daniel R needs to understand that businesses have closed down due to COVID-19 and he should treat people facing hardship with more understanding. He is definitely giving this collection agency a bad image. He should not treat people with debt this way, especially during this pandemic.

I even offered to send all my stimulus check when it arrives because I don't have any extra cash at the moment, but he rejected the offer. I offered the maximum amount I can afford, but he still rejected it. I asked for my rights regarding the product I had to pay off, and he was very rude in his response. This is the COVID-19 pandemic, and I didn't want to close down my business, but I had no other option. He really needs to be retrained.

Brennan & Clark gave me file #-007918 about debt collection for QBE through a letter in the mail. When I contacted QBE with my old policy number PRH5841658 - the only policy I ever bought from them - they said this is a *** issue. When I talked to a rep in Billing, they said this is 1. for "Resident Shield," which is a different entity from QBE, and 2. QBE Billing has proof "in their electronic system" that I owe Resident Shield money. When I asked to verify the proof myself, I was told 1. the *** is separate from *** and 2. only this *** has access to this proof, and 3. I need to make a formal request to get the alleged proof, but 4. customers can't contact the ***, 5. only *** can "submit a ticket," and 6. it will take 2 days *** to do so. QBE repeats this same process every time I call them. They have treated me like this since before September 11th, when I moved apartments and no longer wanted to use QBE/Resident Shield. Today, on 3.17., I spoke on the phone to my assigned representative at Brennan & Clark and explained the above scenario. The rep at extension *** told me 1. that I'm lying because she works with QBE a lot, so she knows I'm wrong, and then 2. basically threatened to keep this "debt" on my record without a solution other than to pay without proof. She then 3. rushed me off the phone because of an important debt collector meeting she had to attend at the time. When I asked for a B&C supervisor - "***" can't be reached and has yet to call me back after repeated correspondence with the receptionist, including a specific request for *** to call me at her convenience. QBE and Brennan & Clark are harassing me for $250 that I feel I don't owe them, but I would consider paying IF I had some evidence that confirms the opposite. Now I just need the debt to be removed, and them to stop contacting me.
