being billed for a book I did not order or receive.
I keep getting billed for a book that I never ordered, and when it came to my house, I returned it unopen. Bottom Line books still keeps sending me a bill every month, and saying how I owe them money, yadda yadda. It's really annoying. I send it back to them each time, telling them what the deal is, and they keep at it anyway.

not ordered
Bottom Line Books sent yet another book that we did NOT order. After the second bill came I went online to track down a customer servcie number [protected] (hit "1 for a human). They told me we ordered this "series" back in 2002 (6 yrs ago). well, I know for a fact we didn't sign up for any never ending series that would send us their books every year. I demanded a return label and that they never send us anything ever again. I also told them I saw dozens of complaints online stating they have done the same thing to others. Don't let them them talk you into paying for it or even for the return postage to send it back.
Bottom Line Books person (a very truculent woman) just contacted at [protected] number in Des Moines, Iowa, said I must have clicked on wrong book; they could have only sent me that book if I had clicked on it. Book came chock full of ads to order other books, one of which was the book I know I had clicked on...She said she would send me return label to return wrong book, RETURN LABEL would arrive within 19 to 14 business days... Don't order from these people! Very deceptive and unpleasant on phone if you do get hold of them...
Unfortunately, I thought they were okay, because many years ago, my son had some of their items, and he was pretty shrewd. I am returning wrong book, there is NO WAY after seeing all the comments/complaints and looking at how poor material is in WRONG book sent and billed $47.94 for, (one book?) that I would ever attempt to reorder the book I had wanted...So thanks, everyone who posted, if only I had looked them up before ordering in the first place! But thanks for all your comments!
unsolicited merchandise
How to permanently stop unsolicited shipments from bottom line books
My heart goes out to all those who have complained about bottom line books. I too fell prey to this scheme and paid them for seven years for unwanted unsolicited merchandise. I did a lot of research on this company and finally figured out how to stop them. My loss is your gain. I originally posted this in 2007 on [redacted] and I am repeating it here. Knowledge is power:
So you got another shipment in the mail from bottom line books that you didn't order and don't want. Since it is unsolicited you can just keep it or return to sender right? Because, as an educated citizen, you know that billing for unsolicited merchandise is illegal under united states code title 39, part iv, chapter 30, section 3009.
Not so fast.
Have you ever done business with bottom line publishing? Bought a book from them or a periodical or newspaper? Subscribed to their free newsletter?
Bottom line books practices what is called 'negative option marketing.' the fact that you have done business with them previously permanently entitles them to send you unsolicited merchandise and bill you for it unless you ask them to stop.
Unethical?
Yep.
Illegal?
Nope.
Although the fcc has tried to outlaw this on several occasions, telemarketers and other businesses pay congress good money to ensure that this is never enacted into law.
One of the more famous examples of negative option marketing is the columbia house music and video program, or various book-of-the-month clubs. To educate yourself, read this:
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2005/negative_option.html
But you sent the book back! How can they still bill you for it?
Can you prove that you sent it back? More importantly, do you have a receipt to prove that they received it?
If you do send the book back, you will need to pay for a delivery with signature receipt. Otherwise, the company will simply claim that it was never returned. The burden of proof falls on you, not them. Unfair but true.
You asked them to stop! You even wrote to them last year at the address of the processing center that sent you the merchandise!
Oh yeah? Prove company headquarters received it!
The good news is, you can get them to stop upon request if you take a couple extra steps. Here's how.
Write them a letter demanding that they cease and desist and remove you from any and all subscriber lists. Keep it brief (Under one page). Keep it polite, because you are going to be copying several organizations on this letter - you don't want to sound like a crank. When in doubt, eliminate all adjectives and adverbs. A7od2make four copies of this letter.
1. Send one to bottom line books. Think that sending it to des moines iowa will be effective? Wrong. That is only a processing center. Their actual headquarters is:
Boardroom, inc.
281 tresser blvd 8th flr
Stamford ct [protected]
Telephone [protected]
Fax: [protected]
2. Important: make sure that you send a copy to the better business bureau. Since des moines is only a processing center, it does no good to complain to the iowa bbb. You need to contact the connecticut bbb at the following address:
94 south turnpike road
Wallingford, ct 06492
[protected]
www.connecticut.bbb.org
www.ctbbb.org
3. Send a copy to your state attorney general. No action is happening at the federal level to stop negative option marketing, but there has been some progress at the state level. Do your bit for public service.
4. Save a copy for your personal records.
Good luck!

How does a company get away with such devious, deceptive and under-handed business practices for so long and not get shut down by the FTC. I ordered one book a few years ago and it was pure BS...nothing like all the hype that preceeded it. Since then I've received numerous books, publications and truckloads of junk mail from them, none of which I requested. Now I'm getting a bill for a book I never ordered and threats to report me to the credit bureaus if I don't pay them. They are running a scam that is based on the knowledge that the average consumer won't be able to fight them on their own and can't hire a $200 an hour attorney to settle a claim for a $40 book. I can't believe they are allowed to stay in business. How do we stop this? Their bills they send in the mail don't have a customer service number to call and writing cancel on the bill or sending the book back doesn't work. I sent one book back and they claimed they never received it. Thank God I saved the receipt and got a signature at their end. I had to send them a registered letter with a photocopy of the receiving signature to get them to stop billing me. But, that didn't stop them. They just sent me another unsolicited book and the billing process started all over again. There has to be some way to shut that monster down.
About all you can do is stop paying them for the books and eventually they might give up.
I never ordered nor do I intend to pay for your materials. I received a bill that I will turn over to my attorney for resolution. I in no way shape or form intend to be buffaloed by some snake oil salesman disguised as a Doctor, so in the future your collection efforts will go straight to the shredder and I hope you find some relieve knowing that I will never pay, nor will I submit to your bogus collection letters, try and ruin my credit, and I will see you in court, or prove that I ordered a book from you using a credit card or any other viable means to complete a legit transaction. I bet you can not produce the support documents to verify your scandalous money sucking tirade on one not so unsuspecting of a scam! Take your Prozac and sleep it off, it will help with your dillusional attitude to attempt to prey on the unsuspecting! Get a life, clown...
did not order books, but got a bill
Got a reminder notice for a book I never ordered from Bottom Line Books...never got the first bill because I never ordered the book in the first place. Never saw the book or the first bill, because I didn't order it.
This really upsets me, because I was unemployed in March and didn't find a job untill 5 weeks ago...I'm facing forcloser on my home of 20 years and barely able to survive on what I'm making at a part time job that pays $6.55 an hour.
I'm living on food stamps and have begged and borrowed all there is to get from the state and family and friends...why would I purchase something like a book? When I can't even afford to buy Christmas for my grandbaby ?
They want me to pay $47.94 for something I didn't order...that is enough for a nice present for my grandbady...this really makes me mad...and it makes me cry...like I don't have enough to worry about.

We have now been billed 3 times for a book we ordered. Consequently, I have phoned them and am returning the book along with an additional book that I ordered from them as well as the free books they sent. I do not even want the free books in my possession! I am very disappointed in Hugh Downs for accepting a salary from them and them ripping off the elderly who may have forgotten and paid them again! How do I report this infomercial company and stop their abuse?

want to return books received
Billed for books not ordered. Want to return have not paid the bill. No phone number to call or web site contact? Should I just mail back?
Interestingly/Additionally, I went to FedEx to return a Book (I'd decided wouldn't be useful), and they informed me that the Zip Code given did not exist in that area, and - using the box it came in - the return address with Zip was even printed on the box itself !? I'll have to call them too.
You can also complain to the Attorney Generals' office in your state and theirs, which I am going to do right after this. You can file a complaint on line just by searching, Attorney General of (State). The more complaints to them the better!
When you return a book to Bottom Line, never open it and ALWAYS, ALWAYS go to your local post office, tell them you are refusing the book and want a receipt, it's free, t to show you returned it. About a month later they will send you a bill. You can either call their customer service at [protected], staple a copy of the receipt to the bill, or both. I'm telling them to take me off their mailing list as anything they ever send will ALWAYS be refused. Also complain to the BBB. Any and all info they have in their book can be looked up on line...for free! Web MD has tons of info on medical things as do several other sites! SO SAVE YOUR MONEY!
I had already opened it but i called the number you had above and they are sending me a return label, thank you very much for posting the 800 number otherwise i probably would have kept it. I think they do that on purpose not put a phone number then either you pay for it or they send you to collections.
When you return a book to Bottom Line, never open it and ALWAYS, ALWAYS go to your local post office and get a RECIEP, it's free, T showing you RETURNED the book. Hang on to that receipt as about a month later you'll get a bill. Call their customer service number at [protected] and tell them you did just that and to take you off their mailing list as anything you ever get from them will always be returned. You can also make a copy of the receipt you get from the post office and staple it to the bill and send it to them.
I'm Jorge Sandoval, I bought this book about three months ago, title is:
The completeEncyclopedia Of NATURAL HEALING.By Gary Null, Ph.D.
The problem with the book is, that 32 pages of are missing; It goes from page # 1,
to page #244, then, to page#277, then to page #308, from page #308 continues again
with # 277. So in other words 32 pages from page #244 to #276 are missing, and #s
from #277 to #308 are double printed, I was looking for information on Lupus, and did not find it the index says to find it in page # 246-47 which are missing, I do want the book, but a whole book how can we go about it ? I had bought several books from you
and I think my costumer account # is :37-[protected], I hope you can fix this problem. My address is 686 E. 42St. in L.A. CA. 90011 Ph. # [protected] Thank U

unsolicited books
Received an unsolicited "Bottom Line Yearbook 2009" about a month ago. I e-mailed them that I had not ordered said book; did not want said book; and would not pay for said book. I asked for a return label to send it back. I never received a reply. Today I received an invoice for $31.90 for said book. How can this business get away with this. There must be thousands of others like me. I am reporting this to the Ohio Attourney General, the Better Business Bureau, and the Federal Trade Commission. There must be some sort of Class Action Suit against Bottom Line Books. Do I have any other options?
INTERNET SCAM ! YOU SENT UNSOLICITED BOTTOM LINE BOOKS TO ME.
THE NEXT TIME I WILL REPORT ( BOTTOM LINE BOOKS TO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OF DES MOINES, IA. .
Unsolicited - No responce to return
I received a Bottom Line Yearbook 2009 which I did not order. I e-mailed Bottom Line Books customer service stating I didn't order the book and I would not pay for it. I ask for a mailing label to return the book to them a month ago but have never received a reply from them. Today I received an invoice for $31.90 for the book. I certainly don't intend to pay it. It seems this a common practice for this organization. Isn't there some kind of action being taken to stop this fraud. What are a persons options when they are a victem.
I, too, have been entangled with Bottom Line Books. Several weeks ago I ordered "Healing Remedies", which I received and paid for. Then shortly thereafter, I received the Bottom Line Yearbook 2009, which I did not order. Since I wasn't interested in this book, I called their offices and was told by a service representative to mark the book "RETURN TO SENDER".
Now I keep getting bills which are getting nastier with each one, telling me that I placed the order and agreed to pay for it, that I have not returned the book, and that I have not responded in any other way to the bills mailed to me.
Why is this company allowed to get by with this ?
I most certainly will NEVER do business with them again and will probably have to contact the Better Business Bureau to see if there is anything else I can do.
I believe the old adage is very true--LET THE BUYER BEWARE!
I have ordered the yearbook 2009, but they had advertised that I could return it within a month and not be billed in this case. Now I'm trying to find out how to return it since there is no return label. I have asked the customer service twice. No reply yet. I just wanted to post this comment so that people would know you're not alone!
fraud and cheating
I have a bill for 39.02 again this month and I have repeatedly asked for them to cancel me from their list. They are sending books that I have not ordered. They don't have any telephone or fax numbers listed and that is the reason I looked them up on the internet. It was at this point that I found that others were having the same problem as I am having. I have purchased several other books I didn't actually want just to preserve my good credit.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Seems that I am going to be another sucker on your mailing list
Well you can wait till hell freezesover. The book you sent me and demanded 47.54 was not ordered and I intend to keep it that way. If you want the book come and get it. Inever opened it. It smells of fraud. You are responsible for retrieving it. Send me the money to send it back with the right mailing address and I will.
BOTTOM LINE BOOKS attn: This message is for you. The ball is in your hands
I intend to write to the Attorney General of the State of Iowa (the bill I received was from DesMoines), asking that he investigate this compony. Further, I will request that he forward my letter to his opposite number in another state, should it enventuate that Iowa is not the State of incorporation. In my case, I did not order the book I did not receive the book, yet they are billing me for it, and even saying that my payment is past due.

I did order the book but returned it within the 30 day trial period and am still recieving bill notices and warnings. I will never deal with this company again. I sent back the book what more do they want? blood?
want it corrected
On 1/17, I electronically sent you $36.90 for the year end book-Please check your records for my payment Thanks David Lenzner
I have received a packet of books which I never ordered for. And got a bill for $47.94. Can anyone please advise me how to get out of this nuisance?
I did order a book from Bottom Line but I am being billed for an amount that is much higher than the original amount that I agreed to online. I did find a web address to send an email to at Bottom line books. The website address is: http://www.bottomlinesecrets.com/cust_service/email_change.html
This address takes you to a page to change your email address for their free newsletters, but, look to the left in the blue column and go to the bottom to customer service and click on that, it will take you to a page to send them an email. I sent one but have not yet heard back from them. I will send one everyday until they get sick and tired of hearing from me and maybe they will resolve this issue.
sent 2009 year book that I never ordered
I received in the mail, a Bottom Line Book, titled Bottom Line Year Book 2009 that I did not order. I am calling [protected] to get a "return merchandise" mailing label from them and a sending it back by certified mail so that I have a record that they have received the book. I will not just write "return to sender"' on the package, this does not guarantee that the book is returned to them.
I received in the mail yesterday a bill from Bottom Line Books for 47.50 for a book that I never received. It said it had sent me two other bills of which I never received What is this?
Guys, has it ever occurred to you to get organized and file a lawsuit against these thugs for racketeering? I think it is called "class action" - lawyers love these! Just talk to one, OK?
MY COMPLAINT IS THAT BOTTOM LINE BOOKS KEEP SENDING BILLS FOR "HEALTH BREAKTHROUGHS 2010". (1) I DON'T THINK IT WAS ORDERED,
(2) PERSON ON BILLS HAD PASSED AWAY BEFORE THE BOOK ARRIVED,
(3) NO PHONE NUMBER IS LISTED ON ANY OF THE INVOICES TO CALL TO SPEAK TO CUSTOMER SERVICE--"WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THERE FOR THIS COMPANY?"
After checking this site, I got an 800 number to call--[protected], which I then got through to a representative. I informed them that the person who was on that account had passed away and I didn't know where the book was located. She made a note of it and told me that account was now closed and no money or return was due, but that it would take up to 90 days to go into effect. I complained that there was no phone listed on their invoices so I was unable to call them. She told me that they are working on that.
NOW I HAVE TO WAIT TO SEE IF ANY BILLS GO INTO COLLECTION.
FOR NOW, IT IS A WAIT AND SEE OPTION.

Bottom LineBooks is a SCAM. The people affected need to file a complaint with the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU IN THEIR COMMUNITY AND WITH THE STATE OF IOWA.
If your local TV news has a scam alert please call and them with all the information, your complaint and the e-mail address to this so called company.
If everyone affected by this scam with unsatisfactory results made a complaint they will cease to exhist.
Fed up in Arizona
bottom line books feed on old people, my dad has altimers and dementia .Everytime he receives a book i return them marked " refused ". I have wrote the company and asked them to stop sending books, but they keep coming. It gets very frustrating trying to stop these bloodsuckers from praying on the elderly.
I ordered two books and paid them; they keep sending me invoices! Twice I have sent them copies of the processed check; I did threaten them by saying I would turn them over to the AG's office of IA, which I have every intention of doing. I would think that once somebody saw evidence of where they deposited a check they would stop trying to collect money - duh!
PJ Austin, TX
I did buysome books awhile ago, don't remember the name. I got a bill for $47.94..just let it ride. I wasn't sure I had ordered it. Then a letter saying they were turning me over to a collection agency, so I sent them a check. About three weeks later I got a notice from "North Shore Collection Agency." I paid them, not remembering that I had paid for the book already. I noticed the entry in my bank statement. So, I figured I would wait and one of the two would return my money. It hasn't happened yet. Did anyone else have the same experience? I have no phone numbers for either place. SW
I sent you an Email approximately two an one half weeks ago concerning the Bottom Line Books, I had ordered! Treasury of Health Secrets NE. and Two free bonus books, Bottom Lines Uncommon Cures an Medical Blunders. I received a box with one book in it. Uncommon Cures for Everyday Ailments! I did'nt receive The Worlds Greatest Treasury of Health Secrets or the other free book Medical Blunders! You either didn't receive the Email or you chose to ignore it... I will not pay for BOOKS I never received! The box lid was loose and looked as if it had been opened when we got it. MRS. JAMES M. CASSADY.. PHONE.. [protected]... BECKVILLE, TEXAS, 75631
I too am a receipient of unsolicited, unordered, unrequested books from The so called Bottom Line Books. All efforts to return them have failed and doing a Return to Sender has caused being sent to collection, numerous letters and finally an Attorney to put an end to that one paticular complaint; however they have refused ALL request to remove my name from their auto ship. Once again I have received the 2010 Year Book and am so angry because they forced me to pay for the last two years or go down the same road of numerous letters, wasted time, frustration and damaged credit. I have repeatedly told each person I reached by phone and each one who has read the letters..IF I WANT A BOOK I WILL ORDER IT AND NOTE IT IN MY LEDGER...so far this year I have received six books I have not ordered, and paid for them simply to preserve my credit. I am sick of being used this way, with no apparent way out.At the time of writing I am holding on to the yearbook and a book of Drug Alternatives. I don't want to pay for either one of them. Where is the law when this kind of fraud is being worked on a Grande Scale?Kitty S.
unautorized shipment and billing
I received a package from Bottom line books - I did not order these books. I remember filling out some information a while back in order to read an article or something of that nature and there was something about offering me some free books but I would NEVER agree to buy something without knowing what it was first.
The books came with a cover letter and a bill.
"Dear _____...the new book you ordered from Bottom Line Books is here!"
There are three of them: TREASURY OF HEALTH SECRETS, BOTTOM lINE'S UNCOMMON CURES, and MEDICAL BLUNNDERS.
It goes on to say that I should make my check for $47.94 to Bottom Line Books.
Can't locate a website or phone number... I don't have the package as it was shipped to my parents house in the states and I live in England.
This is the third book I have received in mail. I believe I ordered ONE, already pd for it and don't want anymore. I sent second book back without even checking out contents and now, the inconvenience of another. I think it's time to report them to BBB.
unsolicited book delivery and repeated billing. no available way to contact them.
I purchased a book once from Bottom Line Books and paid for it promptly.
This past July 08, I received an unsolicited Book from them. Knowing that I didn't order it I retuned the book. It was sent back because I had open the Label/invoice on the book carton. I did not open the carton itself. I have tried in vain to contact them by internet search and by mail to request return instructions. In stead I keep receiving past Due bills for 47.94. I am disabled and have no discretionary income, therefore, I am positive that I didn't order this book. I don't wish to keep it nor can I afford to buy it.
Doing my internet search for this company I found that this is a regular practice for I found a lot of complaints for my same situation on the web.
What can I do to rid myself of this book and obligation? Please help if you can.

Hi - I typed into Google "Bottom Line Books Customer Service" and then went to their "Contact Us" page. Pretty simple. Their phone number is: [protected]" and I then pressed #0 to bypass the phone tree. If you look on their bill, you will see an account number. Funny, I have been buying from them for years and like their "Yearly" book. I did receive a prior mailing from them informing me that my new "annual" would be coming my way which was good for me. But I am a previous customer of theirs. Anyway, good luck and take care.
Regards,
Dave

harrassment
I ordered their Mind Boosting Secrets book a while back. Received the book and elected to keep it. Few weeks later I received a bill that listed out as $47.94. I do not remember why it was so much; however, I went ahead and paid for the books and sent a check on July 8, 2008. The check has cleared.
Few weeks later I received another bill for $35.92. This time I was a bit upset since there was no way to communicate with this company online or by telephone. I did not want to play the game of not paying for this since in my younger years I was burnt by standing my ground over $50.00. It was not worth it to do the same thing over $35.92 so I wrote a check on August 5, 2008 for the $35.92.
Well guess what...today I received another bill from them saying that this is Past Due payment is required now. This is for the $35.92. I will be sending a registered mail to Otto Huebner who is the Credit Manager. Now, I am sure that there is no one named Otto Huebner. Now I just did a white pages search for Otto and guess what...there is no Otto Huebner in the city of Des Moines, Iowa - there is no Otto Huebner anywhere in Iowa. This is the name on the bill that I received.
Hope this helps. I WOULD NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN. There are enough complaints on here about this company that the BBB needs to be involved.

I've just had the very same experience, and found this site while trying to find the name of the president/CEO of Bottom Line - and address. I was charged only $35.92, however, and paid it immediately upon receipt of the bill. Got the 2nd notice so had my bank write to them since I had sent an electronic check. I also wrote to them. This time I'm enlarging everything that was sent to 11x17" size paper and writing on it with a Sharpie, with lots of pink highlighting around it telling them that it was paid - and that they need new staff... Hopefully, some staff member will get it together and figure things out. Now I'm looking for how to reach the president with my copy!
I had a similar experience with a previous book - and finally just paid it a second time to avoid back credit rating. GRRRRRR!
no customer service phone nuber
I sent them two payments in full for the same book by mistake. I would like to discuss it with a customer service person. But, they do not give a phone number anywhere. I am afraid they will not return my over payment of $47.94. today's date is 7/21/08
p.s. I found the Bottom Line Secrets customer service number on their website.www.BottomLineSecrets.com/
I am Marcia, of the first Bottom Line Books complaint on 7/21/08. People have been calling me thinking I represent Bottom Line Books by the dozens ever since I wrote this complaint. Please remove this from your website as soon as possible. Someone named Brenda Reimde recentlly even sent me her book instead of returning it to the return address! I had to forward it to Bottom Line Books, P.O. box 508, Clarion, IA [protected] for her. I hope she reads this. I tried to look her phone number up on 411 but could not get it to call the. Thank you for your help in advance. Sincerely, Marcia

receiving bill for order I did not place
I received books I did not order and I returned them and they send a letter acknowledging that I did not order it. I returned the item but they bill me for it constantly. I will not pay for something I did not order.
I made the mistake of ordering their "mind boosting secrets" a while back. They sent me a bill for $47.94 which was a lot higher then I was told; however, I went ahead and paid - kept the books. Three weeks later I received another bill for $35.92. I paid this after thinking about it for a long while. I remember how Columbia Clearing House use to work 30 years ago. Once they had ya they would keep billing you. If you said enough is enough then they would take you to the claims. This is bull puckie. I received another bill today for $35.92 - my third bill and the other two have cleared the bank back in August. I will be sending this bill back with a letter.
This letter will go to Otto Huebner - Credit Manager in Des Moines.
The same thing happened to me. Also they started sending me their Bottom Line magazine every month which I did not order either. I thought it was just something that they did if you ordered a book from them until I got a bill for it. I wrote several times explaining to them that I hadn't ordered it and was not going to pay for it. It took until I threatened to call the Better Business Bureau before they stopped harrassing me.
It appears as if Bottom Line is pulling the wool over a lot of people eyes. They are trying to charge me for a book that I have not, did not or should not receive. I can't tell you when the book was supposed to have been delivered. I did not sign for any book from Bottom Line and personally I do not plan on paying for something I did not order and have not received. Granted, about 3-5 years ago I ordered from BL but since I have no need in ordering books because I can get what I need over the internet.
I plan to send them this letter before I forword it to Better Business Bureau, in hopes them will acknowledge that I did not receive any books from them
did not order ultimate healing
I was sent a postcard, to either order the book Ultimate Healing by not doing anything or send the postcard back if I did not want the book. I returned the postcard but received the book anyway.
Thanks Martin for the phone #.
Our problem is now solved.
It was probably a mistake from the shipping people. I am an avid customer over 30 years and never had any problems sending books back that I don't want even if I ordered it.
Just send it back and send them a letter or call for a shipping refund they are online and you can find their phone number.

They are very nice on the phone and willing to help you
scam billing!
I was sent a book from Bottomline Books, which I returned months ago. I am continuously receiving bills from this company even though I have sent IN writing that the books were returned. I want to know how to get these people to stop the billing for books I do not have nor do I want. I returned the books about 2 days after they arrived, UNOPENED! Stating on the outside return to sender unwanted. I took them to the post office and was advised to do it that way.
I realize that it is only postage that I am losing each month, but I am on a very fixed income and every penny counts in my situation. I am so tired of responding to this outfit I could scream. How many times do they have to be told I did not keep the books I do not want the books, and I want them to take care of this billing thing they are sending to me about once a month. This is unfair!

I do not have a phone, I can not afford one.
CALLED COMPANY TO LET THEM KNOW THAT I DID NOT ORDER THEIR YEARBOOK . THEY IN TURN TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A YEARLY THING .I THEN TOLD THEM THAT I DID NOT WANT THIS ISSUE . THEY THEN SENT ME MAILING LABELS TO SEND IT BACK, WHICH I DID . I AM STILL RECEIVING BILLS AND THEY ARE ALSO SENDING THEM FROM COLLECTIONS .
notice of intent for book that was not delivered$47.94
recvd unsolicited books
I received a book that was not ordered. The book was returned in the month of November 2008.
I DID NOT ORDER DRUG FREE HEALING BOOK
I AM SENDING IT BACK TO YOU AT YOUR EXPENSE
I too returned the book (piece of junk that it is) and am still receiving bills. Called them and they said they will remove the charges (for the third time). Do not order anything from this scam company!
I just received three books from Bottom Line Books that I did not order along with a bill of $49. I called their toll free number and they said they would send me a postage paid return packaging and that I just needed to put the books back in that packaging and put it in the mailbox. I asked them why they sent me these books. They lied and said I ordered them. I asked for details of the order and their response was "Someone with the email xxxyyyy@gmail.com ordered these books".I told them that this is clearly a scam and did they know that it is all over the internet. They said they were aware that people think this is a scam and had no concern about it. She got very aggressive with me at this point. I then asked how can I be sure you will never send me books again. She said, "Oh OK then I will take your name off our list". In other words if I had not said that, I was now somehow in their system and they weren't going away.
Be very careful with this company. They are a well organized scam that is very aggressive.
I have received a bill and books from Bottom line books, I didnt want any books, Its a scam to get old people to buy there product when they make you believe your getting something for free. The beter business should do something about them!
request for payment!
I ordered a book from Bottom Line Books (my first mistake) and was told that I had 30 days to view the book and decide if I wanted to keep it. After less than one week I decided to sent the book back. Much later I began receiving bills wanting payment. I replied and explained that I had returned the book. I have done this three times to date. Now they are threatening to turn me over to collections. I will not pay for something I do not have and I don't really care if I am in collections. It is the principle of the thing.
My advice is STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
My situation is the same as the original poster described. Only that I don't have a return label to retun the book, and I don't want to spend any money for doing what they should be (paying for the return). So I still have the book, but I don't want to keep it, and I've tried to contact them twice for that (customer service online), but no answer yet.
If we all keep getting bills and not paying them (why should we!?), what can they do other then go to court and then lose?
I ordered a book, big mistake, and sent it back after looking at it and deciding that much of the information found in the book was something that I had already read in other printed items. I have the U.S. Postal Service Delivery Confirmation Receipt dated 09-16-08 and have received two notices since returning the book in the original box to their address on the original invoice that says: Packages to :PO Box 508, Clarion, IA [protected]. The title of the book was: TREASURY OF HEALTH SECRETS NE I would like for them to stop sending the bills.
Several years ago I ordered a couple of books from Bottom Line Books including the annual yearbook. I paid for the books I ordered but decided not to order any more yearbooks. The following year I got another book. I wrote explaining I did not order the book I returned the book. I kept getting bills.
They are still sending me books. I have sent them several notices that I do not want any of their merchandise and any future material will be considered a gift. Naturally I got another book which I did not order. I"m tired of paying to send their unsolicited merchandise back. Today I got a notice from a collection agency for approximately $30. I called the number on the bill. What a surprise! It was an automated system and it even had a number to push if you did not order the merchandise you receive.
It is obvious this company has very unethical marketing practices and counts on the consumer figuring the bill is too small to fight.
I had exactly the same experience in ordering a book. I returned it shortly afterwards. For two months I am being billed for it. Now they want my money or else...I just wrote to them to look in their receiving department for the book which was returned in the same box that it came in.
I get their Personal news letters subscription which is okay.
They are too big and unorganized. Good luck to us.
Mine is the same song, and probably the gazillionth verse: I received a book from Bottom Line Books that I did not order. I returned it UNOPENED--THE NEXT DAY. Now, a couple of weeks later, I get a bill for $47.94 for a book entitled "Treasury of Health Secrets". (They hope I am enjoying it, by the way.) I searched their website and could not even find this books on their list of offers. Not that it matters, because I did not order ANYTHING from them. I returned what they sent unsolicited. And I will not pay for it. I will use ONE of my 47-cent stamps to return the bill explaining all this to them. After that--they will just be wasting THEIR time, stamps, paper, and whatever else they use to collect this $47.94. Because I do not intend to waste any more of my resources corresponding with them.
Hello,
I am in the habit of paying for everything up front, so I never have to receive bills due notices. I bought one of their books, and now I received a bill due notice. I guess I am just another in a long list of snack food for this organization. Apparently, this company is in the habit of using every trick in their little book in order to assure them of making every dollar possible, legally or not. I suppose I will keep receiving these notices forever. Oh well. Can't win them all.
Sincerely, Marie Z.
free bottom line year book
Received two (02) unsolicited yearbook 2008 with cover that said your FREE GIFT is enclosed. About 3 weeks later I received a Invoice for payment for the FREE GIFT. I received the books at two different times . They both have two different account numbers for the same book, name etc. I have written to them in the past and requested that they not send me any item without my first making the request Looks like they have now included me the list under two separate accounts. They did the you pay now or I'll get you think last time and I was able to get them to send me a return label to send the book back. They were very rude and I had to push to get the label. Looks like they have doubled me up this year. I am trying to get them to send me TWO LABELS to send the books back. This practice needs to be stopped. They are definitely trying to get you to buy by intimidation. Please let everyone know that they don't have to buy the unsolicited books.. They can call the 800 number and get them to send a label to return. I had a very hard time finding a number to call. It is not in the billing invoice notice. Hope someone out there can get the proper information to stop this practice.
CANCELLED THEM ON INTERNET. TRIED TO CANCEL FUTURE COPIES ON MEMO ON CHECK. THIS TIME I, IN NO WAY ASK FOR THE 2010 BOOK. IT WAS SENT AND LEFT ON MY PORCH. I DIDN'T HAVE THE OPTION TO REFUSE IT. STICKER ON BOX READ CARRIER: LEAVE IF NO RESPONSE. IT HAD NO INFORMATION ON HOW TO SEND IT BACK. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES BEFORE. I GET STUCK FOR ER-TAPING, RE-LABELLING, AND TAKING IT TO BE SHIPPED BACK, AND PAYING TO SHIP IT BACK. THIS TIME THEY WILL HAVE TO SEND FOR IT OR COME GET IT. I WILL INFORM THEM OF THIS NOW THAT I READ ALL THE POST ON THIS SITE. SPECIAL THANKS TO W CLARKE
This is a lousy company---read the fine print! When you return their 'pay later cards' you are also agreeing to "preview" future editions for thirty days and be billed if not returned in time. Problem is no phone numbers are provided for customer service and it is difficult to get a return label. Also they WILL bill you for that book as soon as they send it!
W Clarke
Like many of you I ended up with unsolicited books that they wanted to bill me for. This is what I found, they are a portion of something called Boardroom Classics. The following is all of the #'s and fax #'s and addresses that I could find on these "people":

I need a return shipping label to the Bottom Line Books
IS THERE A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST BOTTOM LINE.
IF NOT, HOW CAN I GET BOTTOM LINE TO RETURN MY MONEY!
THANKYOU
They are sending me the year book I did not order. Can I get the 800 no. to get a label to send it back. I can't afford the books and don't like them. I may have to call the attorney general of the state. He hates when they scam the elderly.
I will have to call "Bottom Line Books" Monday and ask them to send me a return shipping label.
Hopefuly everything is going to be ok, although...after I have read all the negative adds. about them, I am a bit concerned.
I will keep you up to date with regards to how they ("Bottom Line Books"- Customer Service) managed my case.
I called the 800 number that the first poster has provided in his heading - & talked to customer service & they where very understanding & will send an immediate return shipping label. Bottom Line's books & particularly their magazines are very informative but are also very expensive for someone on a limited income. I am going to suggest to my library that they sign up for the bottom line magazines.
Happy Easter

Agree with your comments but was disappointed you did not tell us what the 800 number was so that we can get the return lables from them as the same thing happened to me. If possible, please share this number with us. Thanks, Cromwell
