I have been a member of Bonitas Medical Fund and submitted a valid claim on 26 May 2026. Today marks exactly one month, meaning Bonitas is now OUT of the 30-day payment window as required by the Medical Schemes Act.
For nearly a month, I have been completely ignored. I have sent over 20 emails to various departments and escalated to executives. I have spent hours trying to get a response. Every single attempt has been met with silence. When they have called me, they have refused to put anything in writing as I requested.
This is not an isolated incident. I have seen other members' reviews where Bonitas has taken 4 to 6 months to pay refunds, ignored complaints for weeks, and only responded when members escalated to higher authorities . Like many others, I was told my query was "being escalated" multiple times, only to receive no resolution .
Bonitas is very quick to take your money but refuses to pay out valid claims. They offer copy-paste responses on HelloPeter but take no real action . I have given them every opportunity to resolve this, and they have shown me exactly how much they value their members.
My advice: Do not choose Bonitas. They do not care about you. You will be treated as just another number.
Recommendation: Stay away!
