BUYER BEWARE! If you are considering Aurora Homes in Lewes, Delaware for your new home build, feel free to contact me BEFORE you sign a contract. I can tell you about our extremely bad experience. It is now over 13 months (12/2024) since we signed the paperwork with Aurora Homes and gave a significant deposit to build our home, with said completion by August/September 2025. We have had nothing but excuses, lies and misinformation from Aurora Homes that were confirmed with several Sussex County Government Offices. We were even advised by one of the Sussex County Offices to contact the Attorney Generals Office and Better Business Bureau, due to his past.
After 9 months of these lies, excuses and misinformation regarding permits, worker and supply shortages, and unfounded weather delays, a foundation was finally poured in September 2025. Yes, the same September 2025 that the house was originally said to be completed. And to top it off, while our project sat idle for 9 months, they started a new development, Serenity at Cubbage Pond in Lincoln, Delaware, and built their new model house. We were told they had worker, concrete, lumber, etc. shortages on our project, but they obviously had the same means to build a new large model house in another new development, close by.
Here it is January 2026, and we still only have a foundation that was poured in September 2025.
Aurora Homes has not kept in regular contact at all, as the owner had stated he would. We've come to realize that he eventually answers our emails weeks later with a positive response that he never follows through on. More and more lies. This seems to be a common complaint as we found out from others in the development. It's the same with his responses to the BBB. It's just a calculated stall tactic to buy him more time.
We are in the process of contacting the Attorney Generals Office and Better Business Bureau again to follow up, as advised by one Sussex County Government Office. We are also in contact with an attorney. Aurora Homes has not acted in good faith at all. Rather, they've been VERY deceitful.
Buyer beware. Take your hard earned money to another builder and hopefully avoid the lies, misinformation and headaches.
Recommendation: Avoid Aurora Homes!
