Good afternoon! My name is Eletha Edwards and I'm reaching to you for possible assistance or resources regarding my car that was parked near 17th St and Villa in the overflow street parking in the Aerroterra Apts. where my sister lives when it was towed on May 6th. Me and my 14 year old son Traivon was homeless and was living in our car up until April. Within that period my car key came up lost and I was unable to start my car. It had an orange sticker on it and when a few tow trucks came out we explained our situation and they didn't remove it. The Cares Act has strict provisions against any persons committing such acts with penalties at 10X the cost of payment due. On May 5th I had a key made which cost $350 the windshield had been broken by sum kids in the area so I scheduled a glass repair to be done on the 6th so that I could remove it. before this could take place a City of Phoenix police office came out and towed even after speaking to my son who advised them of the situation. When I spoke with the tow company they referred me to the officer that ordered the tow which whom referred me to the courts regarding an hearing. When i finally got to the correct person to handle the hearing situation I was told a had been mailed a letter to the homeless shelter but the shelter doesn't have any mail there for me. This person who works on Grant St told me that the tow truck company should have advised me of the hearing process as well and this isn't neither true. The tow company said to contact the police. I was very sick May and was quarantined in my home and it also took me longer than expected to get my key repair approved by the shelter due to the current pandemic situation. I have been homeless for the last 2 years after 2 tragic events surrounding my Grandfather and Uncles simultaneous death and I'm just beginning to recover from this. I got into my housing by the Grace of God on April 1st. My car was a very vital asset to my housing stability and also me and my son's health considering the fact he has asthma and I have chronic bronchitis as well as the limitations on public transportation. There is almost no way I could buy another car within the near future which raises my extreme frustration in regards to this unfortunate event with my vehicle. I'm in search of someone that could possibly help me try to find a reasonable solution to this problem. I will gladly provide volunteer device and contribute every amount of income I come across to satisfy all fees associated to my vehicle. If there is any possible resources or referral available they will be very appreciated. Thanks for your time and feel free to contact me here at my email. God Bless and Enjoy your day.
