A&J Fencing

On 1/8/22, AJ Fencing wrote 2 proposals, one for a 6 ft fence and one for a 7 ft fence installation and removal of the existing fence. When we asked about the 7 ft option, which cost $5590 with a gate priced at $650, they told us that a 7 ft fence could only be installed with a 6 ft board on board wood fence with 1 ft of lattice to comply with regulations. We decided to go with the 7 ft option. On 2/2, work began on fence A. After it was completed, I complained about excess cement above ground around the base of each post, which was not shown in their advertised photos. There was also an unleveled post that caused some cracks between the boards and green markings on the post and kickboards. We couldn't resolve the issue that day due to a language barrier. On 2/4, after feeling disappointed, I requested a refund of $300 and a revision of fence D/D1 to be made with iron instead of wood, at a cost of ***. However, without any explanation, the prices for fence B1 and C1 were increased. On 2/11, I asked if we could use a pyramid post cap that AJ didn't offer. We agreed that I would purchase them and they would install them. By this time, fence B1 and C1 had been revised three times, with prices going from $5590/650 to $6570/700 and finally to $6860/720, all after the start of fence A. We originally chose a 7 ft fence with 1 ft of lattice and supporting posts that didn't extend beyond the lattice, for a price of $5590/650 for fence B1 and C1, as stated in our original proposal. We believe we were fraudulently overcharged because of our complaint and subsequent partial refund. We didn't sign any electronic revised proposals, only the original one. Fence D/D1 was never installed. AJ Fencing refused to refund $*** for services that were not provided. They didn't provide a price list either. The multiple revised proposals for fence B1 and C1 came without any explanation, but conveniently included *** extra dollars, which were withdrawn due to the change in material to iron. AJ doesn't actually do iron, as they advertised in the proposal. We just wanted the fence of our dreams, not someone else's.
