Great professional service, knowledgeable, practical, and performs the right ongoing maintenance to make HVAC systems last. The 2x/YR service is a good value and exposes potential issues. Notably, Repair quotes come in expensive, markup on parts is easily 3-4X market value or more. I'm not sure how other entities price, but I'd guess similar. (Capacitor retails for $20. Be prepared to spend 10x that). It is what it is. I will continue to use AC By J because their service professionals are reliable, efficient, and know their stuff. I had an issue in the past with an upgrade, and AC By J made it right, fairly. I respect that. Overall, I am satisfied with their service.

As a Realtor in Phoenix, I use/have used a ton of vendors as you can imagine in this business and I can say with certainty, AC by J's plumbing/HVAC techs are knowledgeable, efficient and provide excellent service right down to the employees who answer phones/schedule appointments. I typically get a human being on the other end instead of the phone menu from hell. I've used them for both of my residences and have referred them out to clients. John was at my house today for about 10hrs installing a hot water heater AND a water filtration system. No easy task. He did a fantastic job. Workmanship was excellent. Very Patient and a kind, fine young man! Thank you John!

Just had a quick service call to determine what was happening with our 2nd A/C unit. (It was no longer blowing cool air and the line going into the house was iced over.) AC By J diagnosed a refrigerant leak and explained what was happening with the system. The technician said that they could recharge the system up to proper pressure, but that won't fix the leak and will likely need another charge down the road at some point. Also pointed out that the A/C system (even the other unit which is working fine--crossed fingers) is older than its generally accepted shelf life, which I knew, but replacing all of it right now would be a huge expense. Very courteous and honest guy.

I had an old home with inadequate airflow to the back of the house, but thanks to their expertise, they installed air ducts on the roof to resolve the issue. The technicians diligently researched and analyzed the problem, leaving no stone unturned until it was fixed. Their unwavering commitment to excellence and customer happiness was evident throughout the process. In fact, I have purchased four air conditioning units from them and couldn't be more pleased. The installers and technicians are not only courteous and friendly but also highly professional and dependable. AC By J is a name you can trust, and I have also relied on them for all my plumbing needs. My experience with them has been consistently exceptional.

Excellent service from AC by J. Our water heater wasn't working so I started calling plumbers to see when I could get someone out to help. Unfortunately, I was met with a number of declines for various reasons ("we can't get to you for 2 days", "we don't service townhomes", etc.). Happily the owner of AC by J called me back and was able to get a terrific plumber to my house first thing that morning! The owner, Mr. Smith, was extremely helpful, and he was fantastic. He was punctual, thorough, and explained everything very clearly. He got everything working perfectly, and he even wore booties in the house so as not to get our floors dirty. What a great company, and what a terrific representative! Highly recommended!

I had used AC By J many years back to perform a dual unit replacement and removal of my air conditioning units in my previous house many years back; based on my experience with the company then, I recently called them to obtain a second opinion. The result this time was the same as my initial experience. The technician was very timely in his response time, professional and knowledgeable in his work with no upsell pressure at the end of the job. He was transparent, only offered recommendations and a sound piece of advice. The service was good and pricing fair. He saved me a significant amount of money by troubleshooting the problem correctly and making the repair as opposed to having to purchase new equipment. I would use them again.

I have been using AC by Jay for years - servicing my unit twice a year. They are very professional. I receive a text when they are on their way with a photo of the technician. Very important for safety reasons. My 17 year old air conditioning unit died in the middle of a hot summer. The repair technician was very professional in diagnosing the problem. Field supervisor, Dave, came in an educated me on the air conditioning. He was knowledgeable and polite along with trustworthy. I ended up purchasing a new air conditioning unit. I felt it was very important for this company to gain my trust as I did not have time to get a second opinion anywhere due to the urgent situation. I am extremely impressed with this company

What a Great company... Each step from initial engagement, to coordinating appt, to the actual meeting with each person inside the company has been stellar. A congrats to Kelly J for being so attentive and professional during my initial engagement. She displayed the traits that I was looking for in a long term supplier relationship. Huge shout out to Greg S... as a Technician he provided me all the information and services I was looking for from a company.. He shared technical information on my A/C units that really assisted in my decision making process.. he truly is a 5 Star employee and represents the Company brand extremely well. I hired this company a little over a year ago to install a new AC unit. Since the install I have had them out multiple times. I also had to have another company out because they weren't available in a timely manner. Since I had another company come check the unit they are now voiding my warranty and want to charge me to come fix the problem they haven't fixed yet. I have two grandchildren that reside in the house that have breathing problems and we need the air conditioner to be working properly. Do not use this company unless you want subpar work and to be taken advantage of by them. I will not use them ever again and will not recommend them to anyone. Buyer beware. They took me for $6500.00 on this unit which continuously has issues.

AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME! I have been so impressed with AC by J and so thankful that I found such an amazing AC and heating company. I just had my AC and heating systems replaced and the work was outstanding! The installation technician was just unbelievable -- without a doubt the most friendly, kind and knowledgeable individual I have met in a long time -- thank you to the installation technician for such an AWESOME job! I must also mention the service technician who sat down with me and outlined in such detail the heartbreaking news that both of my systems were shot. He immediately took action and made all arrangements to have a field supervision arrive at my home within an hour. The very next day the entire installation was complete. I cannot thank the AC by J crew enough for turning a very upsetting ordeal into a truly pleasant experience. A big THANK YOU to everyone at AC by J!

Technicians are usually well trained. Calling office generally results in pleasant,helpful people. The reason I have given them a low rating is that they consistently come to me after having done a routine maintenance, they all look very somber, looking at the ground ( here it comes thinks this customer) and it always results in something that is a problem in their estimation which will cost me somewhere between $75 and $11,000. If this was a rare or somewhat uncommon event I would let this pass. Unfortunately, this is every single time they come out. It looks like part of their training. I have complained to no avail. As soon as I find another company, I will be changing to them. By the way, last time they came out, in addition to trying to sell me a new unit ( mine should have 5-7 years left on it)...they tell me that the tubing that takes excess water off the roof was disconnected and that they would charge me $75 to reconnect it. Problem is, they were the last ones up there, so did they disconnect it or was their last guy incompetent? You tell me!

AC by J came to my rescue! I have used a competitor plumbing company for years, that I called regarding a plumbing question related to a failed new dishwasher install, but was told that they do not deal with anything dishwasher related. I called AC by J, and was told that they too do not install appliances, but their plumber techs would be able to diagnose my new dishwasher plumbing install question and, in addition, AC by J fit me into their schedule the same day! In these current times, same day service is unheard of! Plumbing tech Mikey came by and gave me his expert opinion about what was needed to install my new dishwasher. This call would fall under a diagnostic visit and not a repair, but Mikey definitely led me in the direction I needed to rectify my problem. Mikey was completely professional, knowledgeable, and personable. This is the 3rd time AC by J has come to my rescue because the competitor company I've used for many years could not help me at all. It is time for me to reconsider who I use as a primary plumbing company!

After receiving an enormous water bill from our utility company for the month of December, we discovered a large leak in the main line that supplies water to our house. Since the leak was on our side of the meter, it was up to us and not the city to get the leak repaired. We called AC by J and they were able to get a plumber to our house within 2 hours to shut off the water, determine the exact location of the leak and figure out what needed to be done to repair it. Because it was late in the day, we had to wait until the next morning for plumber John Doe to return with the necessary PVC replacement parts and repair the leak. This was the second time in less than a week that we had to call AC by J to help with plumbing problems -- the other time involved replacement of a defective water heater. In both instances we were impressed by the responsiveness and professionalism and expertise of everyone in the AC by J organization and especially their plumber, John Doe. We will definitely call AC by J and request John Doe the next time we need plumbing services.

The customer service and overall technician support has been outstanding. Specifically, our plumber Timber, has been a gem! She far exceeded our expectations and handled challenges that we have not been able to get help otherwise. Our technician, Hvac, has also given 100%! Both individuals are very personable, take their time to diagnose, and give options for the work needed. We have enrolled in a yearly membership for plumbing & hvac that is offered as a protection service. My only complaint so far is pricing. We ended up using another company for our hot water heater install, which cost over $1000 less. We did get 3 other estimates that were averaging much lower prices. We have only been working with AC by J for a few months and will continue to utilize and evaluate their services. Hopefully the membership we paid for will "pay off" and I can leave 5 stars for future review. I highly recommend hiring AC by J. if money is a concern, and the particular job is not highly difficult, shop around first. I've only needed them for a few service calls and will have better feel for their pricing with time.

I appreciate the time taken to visit my home, late in the evening. (16:45 on 11/15/22) Technician was cordial and decided to start at the outside unit based on the service call notes. I explained I felt the issue was outside at the condenser/compressor, so his decision to start there was fine by me. I told him I noticed a small, coiled copper pipe, that looked detached. He noticed it and agreed that could be my issue. 20 minutes later he came in and said pressures couldn't equalize, and the culprit was the expansion valve, or thermal expansion valve (TVX). Quoted $XXXX to fix. I asked how was the rest of the system? He couldn't diagnose it with the bad valve. The pipe, I pointed out, went to a small expansion cylinder. The issue, as I had stated, was a low-pressure cut off, as diagnosed by the low pressures he recorded, and the self-diagnosing circuit board built into the unit. The system does not stay on in heating or cooling modes. I don't feel the tech spent enough time or ran enough tests to confidently give me an accurate repair estimate. I'm not convinced the solution is a XXXX TVX replacement job. Three stars for the tech being polite.

I had been with AC by J for a number of years. For just $14.99 per month they would come twice per year to inspect and clean my heat pump unit. On November 9, their technician, [Technician's Name], came to check my unit. Upon arrival, he proceeded to tell me various items that had previously been done to the unit, all of which were wrong. He then started to disassemble the unit and ran a hand held sensor over the condenser coil. The sensor started beeping and [Technician's Name] said that the unit was leaking coolant and would need to replace the condenser. He also said that, since the unit was installed in 2017, the majority of the cost would be covered by warranty. (later that day he e-mailed me an estimate of approximately $1,900) I told him the unit was installed new in 2012 and minimal repairs had been done to it. My wife asked if he needed to test run the unit and he responded that the heat portion of the unit would not work either. After i refuted his comments about the unit, he said "you are mistaken, right?" When I said "NO", he said that he was having computer problems that day.I then told him to put the unit back together and I would think about it.After thinking about it, I called AC by J and told [Customer Service Representative's Name] that I did not like [Technician's Name]'s demeanor and would prefer to have another technician check my unit. She scheduled another technician for the next day. The technician came, did the same procedures that [Technician's Name] did the previous day, used the same type of sensor and said the same thing. I told him to put the unit back together and leave. I then contacted another service, he came the next day and found nothing wrong with my unit. It has been working fine for the past 5 months (both heat and cooling). I just wonder if these technicians work for salary plus commission and scam the elderly! I have since cancelled my service with AC by J.

AC by J knowingly used a product that put our life in danger. They self described my son waking up from a cold dead sleep crying for air and water as “normal"- I was already awake and was experiencing the same issues. We cannot turn on our unit without destroying the air with whatever they did to my AC unit. It was not like that before. No AC unit or heating should ever dry out the air so much you're about to die. I explained that as soon as the windows and doors were open then there was air and all “symptoms" went away. They were supposed to send someone out yesterday to “fix" the issues but last time they did that it took almost 4 hours and now the air in unbreathable. Then after 5 more harassing calls they said they weren't coming after I already CONFIRMED the appointment 3 times. I pay for their annual subscription and they're refusing to honor it. Their website says that if they don't honor their appointment they will pay $250. I want them to pay and to resolve the issues so the AC won't kill us over the summer. They even had the nerve to laugh when I said my son couldn't breathe and she wouldn't stop laughing. I had to stop her because she was laughing so hard and I told her none of this was funny and that's when they kept antagonistically calling to “confirm" my appointment. This is our life. I paid over $1500 for them to fix the ac unit and subscription. They have no excuse or regard for human life. I want a full refund in addition to my troubles. They have never honored our appointment time and were always late. They overcharged me for something that shouldn't have costed more than 500.
