negligent, poor and very dangerous transmission installation.
July 2, 2018
AAMCO Customer Care Department
To Whom It May Concern:
This is a Formal Complaint to the Corporate Office of AAMCO Transmission Specialist. I took my 2004 Silverado Truck to your shop, in Pensacola, Florida on Friday, June 15, 2018, but because they were closed on the weekends, they started working on it Monday the 18th. My wife and I had plans to drive to Mississippi for my mother's 80th birthday party on the 29th, so it was very important to me to have my truck repaired responsibly and with care.
After diagnosing the trouble with my truck, the owner, Willie Gonzalez, called me on Tuesday to inform me there was metal in the transmission filter pan, and they needed to rebuild my transmission for $2, 195.00. On the same day, I authorized AAMCO Transmission to do the rebuild. He then called me on Wednesday to let me know that I also needed a new radiator because they found water in the transmission for an additional cost of $320.70. I authorized Mr. Gonzalez to go forward with the new radiator. As I am sure you are aware of these repair expenses totaling $2, 704.39 and with your company's reputation, I was confident the repairs would be handled in the ultimate and best care.
When we went to pick up my truck one week later on the 22nd, and as I was getting ready to pull out of the parking lot Mr. Gonzalez comes out and wants the mechanic to look at my radiator again. At that time, I felt all of the quality assurance should have been done before I even picked up my truck, not in the parking lot as I am leaving the property. Therefore, I felt that my truck was not properly inspected to assure that it was in top condition. However, Mr. Gonzalez cleared and assured us that everything was complete, I paid my bill in-full and we drove off.
After I had been driving my truck without prior knowledge that it was not mechanically sound which could have caused me to lose both my wife and my life or caused someone else to lose their life. This negligent act could have possibly caused an accident or damage to my truck. The night of the 28th, I went to back the truck into my garage, and I heard a big pop. I brushed it off because I just had the truck repaired by a reputable company so there could not be anything wrong. I woke up out of a sound sleep, and something said "DO NOT drive the truck to Mississippi for six hours." Mind you, we planned on being on the road to Mississippi by 4 am. I went out at 3 am to investigate (by looking under the hood and looking underneath the truck where I heard the strange sound) the night before. To my disappointment and total frustration, I discovered that there was no form of Quality Assurance (Q.A.) in the repair of my Vehicle. The fact is that I found four bolts and nuts fasteners not torque at all. Please see photo attachments.
When I called and spoke with the owner, William Gonzalez, at 7am the morning of the 29th, I felt insulted because I felt that the owner played on my Intelligence, by making a statement that the bolts and nuts came loose. In fact nuts and bolts of that size and length takes months to loosen if torqued properly. From my inspection of my truck, it appeared that my truck left the shop without the bolts and nuts being Torque Down. The Location of these fasteners were on the cross member, as you know that this is the main member that holds the Transmissions in place. What would have happened if the fasteners had come out of their sets? This single negligent action placed my Family and me in grave Danger. The loose fasteners give me cause to doubt the complete repair of my Vehicle. Another reason why I thought there were no proper Q.A. check performed when the mechanic rushed out of the shop to stop me from leaving the property when I came to pick up my truck. He ask me to shut off the engine so he could check the water level in the radiator.
The retribution that I am asking for is a refund of money for repair of my transmission. This experience has severely changed my perspective of AAMCO, as one of the leading Transmission and Total Auto Care Corporation. The AAMCO brand, I thought stood for Excellence in Transmission Repair.
Sincerely,
A Very Dissatisfied Customer

cv axel / barring
Few months back I had my cv axels replacemed, barring and rotors/brakes/ drums. $
1. Had to return to have brakes/rotors replaced because they were not done correctly.
2. Cv axel / cv axel barring - I just had to go to a tranny shop due to the fact the wrong axel was installed in my truck. Cv axel broke now I have loose parts in my transmission which is destroying my transmission. I want my $ back I paid and $ to replace my transmission that had been destroyed by the carelessness of your employees / company.
we had problems with our gmc 2500 van. and we had a bait and switch scenario.
We took the van to the AAMCO in Chesapeake Virginia, because we had excellent customer service under a different manager who is no longer with the company. The current manager is David . My husband clearly stated to get a quote for the belt and alternator. They gave us an initial price of $1200.00 and told us that we would have to pay $80.00 for the diagnostic. If we let them do the work, the $80.00 would be applied to the bill, if not, we would have to pay the $80.00 when we picked it up. When we went to pick up the van on May 4th 2018, since we couldn't get financing to pay for the repairs, we had to pay $205.00 and the bill went up to $1900.00. I believe that when they suggested we leave the van at the shop to see if they could get us a company to finance us, he added more services assuming we would get a loan. Note: we told him that our credit was bad. This bill included running a die in the system after they had completed the initial diagnostic. We told them not to do anything that would not effect the driving of the van. When we went to pick up the van, they told us we needed $200.00 to get it. That is NOT what we were told. What if we didn't have $200.00? To top it off, when my husband went to drive it, the brakes weren't working and the steering wasn't working. He was able to reverse it back into the parking space. My husband went back inside the office and told David that the van wasn't drivable. David said that we left the van at the shop for weeks. What? We had to go back so they could make the van drivable. So the bait and switch is telling us one price and giving us another. We may have only had the $80.00 to pick up the van. How dare he be so assumptive? David's word is not his bond. David had his assistant speak to my husband, he wouldn't even talk to my husband face to face. Of course this means that I will not give this company a good recommendation to anyone and I was so pleased before. I miss the honesty and warm and fuzzy feeling that I got from the previous manager. We don't like being taken advantage of.
sales
I had a recent charge on my a.c. done, May 1, 2018. It stopped working 2 days later. I made 2 different appointments only to be told I would have to drop the vehicle off. I made a third appointment for May 14, because I was told they were wide open. Again, only to be told to drop off! This is insane! I do not have the time to drop off. That's why I make appointments, to be seen at that given time!
account charged without explicit prior consent to do so
To whom this concerns:
I dropped my vehicle off at your place of business on the evening of January 22, 2018. I received a call regarding my vehicle on the morning of January 23, 2018. I got another call in the afternoon letting me know that my vehicle was ready for pickup. I was asked if I planned to use my Car Care Account, which I stated yes. I was then told by your store clerk, that they could go ahead and charge my account and he could leave the key in the vehicle for me to pick up after hours. I told the clerk, NO because I wouldn't be there to pick up the vehicle that night (1/23/18). I went to your store on the morning of January 24, 2018, to pick up my vehicle and provide payment, at which point I was then told it was already taken care of. I later read my receipt and saw for myself that the account had been charged $568.71 on January 24, 2018 at 17:32:56 P. I was not in your store at that time nor did I give your store or your store clerk permission to charge my account. The store clerk stated that once I'm a customer my information remains on file. I have several issues with regard to what happened.
1. I do NOT appreciate your STORE or your CLERK processing a payment to my account without my EXPLICIT CONSENT TO DO SO. If I had decided that I wanted to use a different form of payment before arriving at the store, then there would have been the need to reverse payment etc. This is totally unacceptable, unprofessional and ILLEGAL.
2. I DO NOT appreciate your store holding on to my account information. Why do you need to do that? I want my information removed from your systems immediately so that your employees or otherwise can charge my account WHEN THEY FEEL ITS NECESSARY TO DO SO.
3. Because of your Store and Store Clerks unethical actions I'm discouraged from every bringing my vehicle back to your place of business. I will also warn others of the way you conduct business and the type of individuals you have working for you. Management reflects leadership.
coolant flush service
I went to Aamco in waukegan, IL to have a coolant flush done. The emoloyee seemed like he was in a rush to get out from work. Mr. Gonzales diddnt do his job. He flushed antifreeze out of the radiator that was in there already but never put any antifreeze back in the coolant. My car could have been damaged as far as becoming overheated in cold weather.
transmission repair
On February 15, 2015 My 2003 Acura MDX transmission failed. I took it to AAMCO TRANSMISSION 3674 W Ina road in Tucson. They told me my transmission had to be completely rebuild and it would take about a week. They billed me for $3, 789.00 Steve, the service manager assured me my care would be well cared for and they would warranty the parts and labor for 12, 000 miles.
On June 26, 2017 just outside Phoenix the transmission over heating light came on and the car wouldn't move forward. The car had 27, 000 miles recorded since AAMCO TRANSMISSION REBUILT THE TRANSMISSON. I had my MDX towed to Allstate Transmission to evaluate the problem. They evaluated my problem and told me the transmission would have to be rebuilt a second time. They explained that in their opinion AAMCO TRANSMISSION did not follow the Acura transmission recall specifications published on September 13, 2013 and that's why the transmission failed a second time.
On June 27, 2017, I wrote a complaint on YELP (Yellow Pages reviews) complaining that after only 27, 000 miles my AAMCO TRANSMISSION FAILED. There was a posted by the anomalous owner of AAMCO saying my complaint was a lie and I had no proof of this claim. The following day I received a call from Luis saying he was the owner of AAMCO. He asked me how I obtained my information. I told him that Allstate Transmission told me, Luis called Allstate and was told the same information.
Allstate Transmission wrote on the invoice;
"Inspection of the transmission found that the master rebuilt kit was installed and the torque converter was replaced. Unfortunately, none of the critical corrected updated parts were installed and the transmission housing was not machined and sleeved. Had this work been done, I don't believe there would have been a transmission failure."
Through a few follow up conversations, Luis finally offered to settle with me for $800. 00 in free labor at AAMOC. I told him, "Why would I trust to do more work on my car when your transmission didn't last more the 27, 000 miles. Luis replied by saying, " Anything more than $800 is to rich for my blood. I told him I would have to think about, but given that I paid $3, 789.00 I didn't feel his offer was fair. I wondered why he was being so obtuse about my complain. I discovered that my complaint on YELP had been removed/ Apparently, if a vendor advertises with Yellow Pages they can get bad reviews removed.
In my opinion, Luis is an unethical business man who assumes no responsibility for the quality of transmission services his company provides.
radio ad says free inspection
To whom it may concern:
I took my 2001 Honda Odyssey Van to Aamco in Signal Hill on Friday, Nov. 24th to have my transmission looked because it was giving me problems on my way home from work. I heard on the radio that Aamco was financing and doing FREE INSPECTIONS. My van was looked over and I was told by Richard (don't know his last name), that the transmission was damaged and needed to be replaced. It was going to cost me $4210.02. First of all my van isn't worth that much to be fixed and I was going to have them fix it but decided to junk it instead. I told Richard to don't do anything to the van and that I will pick it up and junk it. He told me that it was going to cost me $595 for the labor. All that was done to the van was the inspection and the labor charge was if I approved for them to repair it. If it says FREE INSPECTION, why am I being charged for labor that wasn't done? If I end up paying the $595 to get my van, I expect a full refund. You can contact me at [protected] and my name is Mina Lozano. I expect to pick up my van on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 and I hope that by the time I get the van, you have contacted them to solve this issue.
Thank you,
Mina Lozano
car never received services but did receive damages
I made an appointment on Sunday for monday, to have my transmission look at because of the Gerking. I never got a call or a confirmation for the appointment, so I called and spoke too paul. Paul stated he runs the shop and he had only one appointment and to bring the car in. i started the car before I had it towed to 1789 la ceniga blvd on Tuesday. then on Wednesday Paul call and said the battery is dead and he needs a new one to look at the transmission. I delivered the battery at 9:30am on Wednesday. then on Thursday "today" at 12:15pm paul called and said something happened to the car. he doesn't know what happened. he believes it's electrical failure to the ignition. and he said the car was moving earlyer because they had to move the car several times. then Paul started to blame me the "customer" and said I had the car set for 3 years and that could have been the problem, not him or he's mechanics. lies, it's Paul and/or the mechanics fault. my car has been park for sometime, but i run my car every sunday after church for 30mins so my engine doesn't lock up. pauls lieing and he damage my car. then a man name arron i belive, said he was the district manager for the region and that they dont do transmission work for my car "landrover" because its a complicated car and there mechanics aren't trained, or familiar with the car. if that's the case aamco, why did paul tell me to bring my car down. wasting my time and money. my car left my house able to run, not only was my car transmission never look at. it now won't start. please explain to me aamco how a car goes to your shop for a check up and leaves with no check up but now electrical issues. I want my car fix. you damage my car paul. shame on you. please call [protected]
transmission
My wife took my 2012 gmc acadia to a shop in Suffolk, Va to get transmission repaired. when we got it back we were still having the problem but not as bad. we took it back and they put it on the computer for diagnosis and it said it was ok. took it back again they drove it and said it was a misfire in the car. we had a tune up the year before but got a tune up anyway. the same problem was still there. we kept a record of every time we went back before the warranty was over. now we are at a shop that we have to leave it at because we wanted a third opinion. the first guy said it looked like the original parts were on it. we spent over $5, 000 to get transmission fixed and its back in shop and they are replacing the parts that were supposed to be replaced the first time.
transmission warranty not honored
6/26/2017 - took my car back to Aamco since they rebuilt my transmission 2 months ago. Almost $3, 000.00. Started slipping 6/25/17 and had to two it home after being stuck on the side of the road at 10:00pm. $51.00 to tow. Aamco looks at my car and tells me that it was not their fault and that due to my radiator having a hole in it, that caused my transmission to leak and had to replace my radiator, $1000.00 before they could check the transmission to see if it was burnt up...First of all, there is no hole in my radiator, secondly, you can check the transmission if supposedly you have a hole in your radiator. The fact is, one clip from the transmission into the radiator was broken and the other was missing. They also damaged another part of the engine that I have a picture of. I could have been out another $4, 000 possibly or at least $1, 000 had I listened to your employees at Aamco on Kelly Ave in Edmond, OK. Instead it cost me $52 for transmission fluid and a couple of clips to hold the hose in that probably was also damaged by your employee. Not sure how this can be corrected, but I they should at least reimburse me the tow fee and the amount for the things they damaged to my car.
unauthorized credit card charges

air condition check
I went to Aamco location for air conditioning check. I was told that I needed to replace my fan relay sensor. I purchased the part and had it put on my car and the problem was not resolved by the repair. The total price I paid for the repair was over $600.00. That was a waste of my money. I would like to speak with someone regarding the service they provided me. Please call me at [protected]. I went to the Chimney Rock and Gulfton location in Houston Texas. Thankyou

aamco in Santa Clara CA. the name supervisor Albert is dishonest
to check the codes for the check engine light which came on
Last Oct., 2015, my transmission smoked and burned out of my car. I however was traveling at the time by Fredrick, Maryland. I found a near by AAMCO dealer just off interstate 70. So I left the car for roughly 7 or 8 days, they fixed the car, I was happy to be on the road again all was well.
I got the car back to Indianapolis, had it checked out again probably around 2000 miles later when the check engine light came on. Because I had had a new transmission installed by AAMCO I found an AAMCO dealer in Indianapolis. Called Got an appointment, went to appointment, and it was needed to be kept over night. So they kept it over night. The next day I was called and was told due to the high mileage it needed a complete engine tune-up because it was misfiring on cylinders 1 and three. The estimate was for over two thousand dollars. Needless to say I decline their offer to fix my car. However he still charged me over 189.00 just to get my car back. I will never go to another AAMCO again. I guess it's like everything else you have to know your dealer and I didn't know my dealer. Also doesn't say much for AAMCO's nationwide warranty as far as follow through after a new transmission was installed. I would like the price of the last engine light inspection refunded, but I know that will never happen, because I had my Goodyear dealer call this AAMCO dealer concerning this situation on my behalf and I never got a refund after their conversation. Now these two dealers are located at the corner of 86th and Michigan road. I have known and traded with the Goodyear dealer for over 15 years and I know his reputation for honesty. Now just this weekend, I again was traveling and the engine light came on again. So I stopped at a AAMCO station on Larkin Ave., in Crest Hill, Il. This dealer was very pleasant and actually checked the engine light very quickly and gave me the codes. No CHARGE! How pleasant to have a great response to my problem. So now I am two great responses, and one bad. When I get back to Indianapolis I will go back to My Goodyear dealer and he will fix my check engine light. So it goes, Know your dealer!
customer service and transmission repair
I had a used transmission put in my car. They had it for over a month, promised me it would be done 3 times, never was. I had to call to see what the progress was on my vehicle and they asked me which car was mine EVERY time. I took it in for a transmission and when I picked it up there was a plug missing to cover a bolt on my door, my window control panel...

They have had my car for 3 1/2 months. Have had 2 guaranteed transmissions sent to them to install from S.W. Transmissions . They can not get it to run still. They have lied several times. Have falsely charged sw. Charges for transmission fluid, time, and labor . When in reality they strained and reused. They quoted me $585.00 on written estimate. Assured me with the warranty. The extra money that it would cost would be falsely charged to Sw Transmissions. Not my self. ORGINALLY, was gonna rebuild transmission but was unable to do so. Recommended buy a warranty transmission witch i did. A matter of fact they have sent them 2. Installed. Then did a flash test. Still not running. Out three month of car 5500.00 so far and car is still at shop not running. Any advise?
poor service/improper work
Update 5-1-15: Now they do not want to fix my car and have requested I come pick it up since I left a 2 star review. Well, there ya go, now I am down to 1 star. I also still have $2600 I am out to Aamco and I have a car that is still not fixed. 4-30-15: I will give their single tech some credit- Matt knows what he is doing. BUT, he is the ONLY tech there...
Read full review of AAMCO TransmissionsDisrespectful, untruthful belligerent
I wasn't only duped, I was accosted and assaulted. This was probably the worst experience I've had in recent memory. Honestly, I still can't believe what happened. 2 years ago I had the transmission in my F150 rebuilt at this shop. At the time, I was debating whether to do the work or just trade it in. The salesman who is also the manager, Vince, convinced me to do the work and promised that I would not have any problems after the work was done and a great warranty if I did. He claimed that he had 3 F150's and he knew exactly how to fix it. Under 2 years and only 9000 miles later my truck started throwing transmission malfunction errors.
I made an appointment and brought my Truck in for service. A few days had passed and the shop hadn't called, so I called them to check in. They explained that they found the problem, that a valve needed to be replaced. They explained that if they couldn't find the valve, the would replace the valve body. 9 days later I got a call that they were ready to do the repair, but that I would have to pay for the electronic components that needed to be replaced. I stated that I was disappointed. This goes completely against what I was told when I had the initial work done. I was offered a free oil change for my trouble. When I declined the $15 oil change, Vince said that he would see what he could do. When I arrived to pick up the truck, I was simply given the bill for the $288.85 with no mention of anything else. I paid it and left.
When I got to my truck and opened the door, not only was the truck filthy on the outside, but my light tan leather drivers seat was smeared and covered in oil. The inside of the door panel was dirty from dirty hands and the paper on the floor mat, covered in mud was not even removed. I returned to the office and told Vince of what I found. Instead of coming out to see it himself, he sent a worker to clean it. The worker wiped it for a few seconds and told me it was clean. I explained that it wasn't at which time he exclaimed "you're full of ###" and repeated it several times. I returned to the office, quite angry and stated that the employee had just told me that I was "full of ###." Vince lured me outside and immediately got in my face. I asked him if he wished to fight me and he accused me of "disrupting his business." I repeated again what the worker had said to me. At this point, Vince turned to my vehicle and looked inside. With the worker still arguing that it was clean, I tried to say something. Vince cut me off and stated "I have 3 F150's, I know the truck very well." Not sure what that meant. I asked him if they used seat covers when they worked on the truck. He stated "we have them". I asked him if they used them, he admitted they don't. After inspecting the seat, he turned to me and asked me what I wanted to happen. I simply stated that I wanted my seat cleaned. He went inside. HIs worker returned with some cleaner and after a few minutes it was clean. As I got into my truck to leave, the worker who had the passenger side door open tried to continue to argue with me. I just told him to get out. After repeating myself a few times as he continued to argue, he closed the door and I left.
I'm taking the time to write this review because what happened at this shop, to me goes so far beyond the simple fact that they lied to me when I had the work done initially. They're irresponsible and disrespectful. I do not recommend this shop. I don't trust them and I didn't need the aggravation.
gary otto liying man cant fix nothing cant be trusted cant even fix his wife bad bizzness man stay clear of cotez aamco he will loose because he is a looser lying no goodman out to hurt the real workingman right gary

This is a horrible dishonest business. The weasel that runs it named Brian is a crook. I would not give them a nickel of my money nor will I let family or friends use this shyster of a company.
AAMCO broke my fishing pole and the owner refuses to replace it.. he is a ###. DO NOT EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. between my wife and i, we have spent close to 8000 dollars there and our cars still run like crap. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE.
owner gary otto no good lying man not to be trusted in any way stay clear bad bizz lying man his day will come gods watching gary are u people stay away cortez aamco there no good
Left Dodge Neon for repair estimate. He guessed about $2000. Told them I can not pay with their financing. They fixed the car anyway. Now $4600 and turned me down for financing. Plus now they want to charge me storage fees! This place is a total rip off scam.
Doug told me that the worst scenario was $1200. He tore it down and then told me the charge would be $2300. This is absurd. Don't ever use. We have someone else that is going to do it for $750 if we can get it from these people. They sound so good on the phone but are only crooks.
Spent over $2500.00 for a transmission rebuild. Transmission failed less than 2500 miles later. Original Franchisee went out of business and AAMCO will not respond to my e-mail.
This aamco took my transmission apart without authorization, then tried to charge me $750 for itthen wanted another $750 to put i back together. When they were supposed to just computer check it and road test it.
Rubens AAMCO, Moca, Puerto Rico has had my car 41 days as of Oct 11, 2009. The manager keeps coming up with lame excuses for the poor service, that is, when he bothers to return my calls, which is not often.
unethical business practices
My 21 year old daughter, a Arizona college student that also works full time, found herself stranded when her Honda Civic started to jerk and she pulled over to try and figure out what the problem was. She called a mechanic to describe the behavior the car was displaying. The mechanic advised her it was most likely a transmission problem. After researching repair services in her area, Aamco advertised "financing available" for repairs. Knowing she had no immediate funds for a potentially expensive repair, she called Aamco in Tempe and spoke with Anthony. Anthony was made aware several times during the phone conversation that she would have to finance the repairs and she was assured more than twice the towing, inspection and possible repairs would fall under their "financing" option. Darcy agreed to have her vehicle towed to their location on a Saturday morning, knowing per "Anthony", the car would be inspected on Monday. Three days later after working 6.@8 hrs on the inspection, they asked her to come in and complete paperwork for "financing". Darcy promptly went into their office. This was the first time "Anthony" asked if she was the owner of the car. She replied no, and they proceeded to have her fill out paperwork to apply for financing. After being denied credit, she was advised they had not diagnosed the problem but she owes $786$ for inspection costs. That's when I got a call from my daughter in tears not sure what to do. I was out of town at the time and I happen to be the owner of this vehicle. I NEVER authorized verbally or in writing any work to be done on my car by Aamco. I immediately advised them to not do ANY repair or "inspection" on this car. I spoke with "Ben", the manager and told him to prepare my car so I can immediately pick it up. After you pay the $768.00 we will release the car. Unexceptable! The opportunity for this business to take advantage of a young girl that was not advised the owner had to approve any work on the car prior to getting approval verbally or in writing by me has left her walking in Phoenix to try and fulfill her responsibilities for work and school. Despite the dangers of having to walk at night alone. I have emailed the owner over a week ago and have not had any response from him. DO NOT take your car there . The process they follow to " fix it fast and pay slow" is a advertising catch to go about making sure they can take your money first and then run a credit check after you already owe money. It sounds like Aamco has a unethical manager and service team at this location. Next step for us us going to 3 on your side. The owner and manager have still refused to release the vehicle .
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
