AAMCO Transmissions Service

January 2022 I paid for a complete brake job at the Silver Spring location which included brake pads rotors and mastercylinder. Total cost 1305.00. I had to return approximately 2 months later and was told I needed new brake pads of which was under warranty and was supposedly fixed. Approximately two months later I had to return for a third time and was told that I needed new brake pads again of which was under warranty. I just returned for a record fourth time to be told after just 14000 miles I need to replace the rotors and was charged almost 700.00 dollars to complete. I am completely sure that the the original job I paid for 1305.00 could not have been done and I feel I have been lied to on several occasions. Someone was suppose to contact me 3 days ago and I am still waiting for that to happen.

Desired outcome: refund for fourth service 672.00

AAMCO Transmissions Transmission repair

I took my car to my local Aamco for a transmission repair. I agreed to an approximately two-week service starting May 9, 2023.

Currently, time of this letter, (June 9th), my car is still not finished.

I’ve been told the ordered parts came in wrong and were missing items. I understand that there may be a supply chain issue but I would have expected some overtime on the job to get my vehicle finished promptly. Furthermore, my transmission was shipped to Dayton Ohio for an expert to inspect and repair. This is understandable too. However, today, my transmission is still in Dayton!

Over $5,300 and one month later is not what I expected from a “transmission specialist”

I should have paid a bit more money and gone to my dealership and had a brand new one installed.

I am completely dissatisfied with Aamco. I would like a refund of some sort.

Aamco Transmission & Total Car Care; 370 Northland Blvd. Cincinnati, OH 45246, 513.514.0789

Desired outcome: Finish my repair and get a partial refund.

AAMCO Transmissions Casking leak turn into whole transmission repair

They had the car since March 29 then return car on May 8th, stop working so had tolled back to shop. Presently has a leak of a pin, can't trust them to repair

Was forced to get into a loan with Easy pay for $2000.00 at an interest rate of 178.99 percentage rate. How can you do that to a customer on a fixed income. The car was held hostage until gave a credit card payment besides the loan shark loan company like Easy pay. You are in a bad place financially so they throw you into the river with a big stone attached so you go further down the hole.

Desired outcome: Supportly transmission was repaired but it has a leak like a pin hole which has time passes may become a problem.Want them to not use Easy pay anymore.

AAMCO Transmissions Damage done to vehicle

We had repairs done to our Custom Van between 3/13 and 3/24 of this year. During the repair, we had the Transmission Serviced and the Filter replaced. We were told that the transmission showed no signs of trouble, ie metal shavings or contaminates in the system. When we were called to pick the van up we were told that there had been an accident while the van was being lowered from the hoist, and that the drivers door was mangled. We were assured that it would be fixed, and that a new door was already at the body shop. Keep in mind that the door was mangled to to point where it would not reliably stay shut, and the automatic window was hesitating and making horrible noises. I have called nearly weekly, and have been given updates, the door is prepped and ready for paint, and the door is in paint, etc. We had a specific timeline to complete the repairs, since we snowbird, and have obligations in Washington State. We had intended to leave Arizona on 5/2, but on 4/26 when I called, I was told that the owner, Ron, had checked on the door and that nothing had been done to the door since he had dropped it of. We stupidly did not realize that Ron was not going through his insurance company to fix our door, and we expressed our disappointment in the process so far. Ron told us that he had found another body shop that could get the job done by 4/28, and that he assured us his crew would put the door, hopefully complete with graphics, on the van before our leaving date. I had been previously asked to send photos of the graphics to Ron, and assumed that they had already been ordered, but during the 4/28 conversation I was asked to take the Van to the graphics shop and let them take pictures of the van. I made the 35 mile round trip to the Graphics shop, just to find out that they did not know anything about the job. On Friday 4/28 I was informed that the door was finished, and that if we brought the van to the shop on Monday morning 5/1, it would take only a couple hours to get the door on and the window and locks to where they worked properly. When we dropped the van off on Monday morning, we expressed our concern that the door was not going to match the paint color of our 30 year old van, and that we did not want it to look like a patchwork quilt. During that conversation, Ron told us "we" could possible take it to a shop and have the rest of the van "buffed" out, so that it was not so obvious that the door had been replaced. Ron proceeded to make. what I felt, was a veiled threat, that there was a good possibility that our van (with 80K original miles) would likely need a transmission soon if we insisted on driving it back and forth from Arizona to Washington State. He told us that these vans were never intended to do that kind of traveling, and that they put very light duty transmissions in these vans. Now we are between a rock and a hard place. We are in our mid to late 70's and now feel like if we make a fuss, that our transmission may be sabotaged. I am writing to you today because we feel like we are alone and being threatened to accept whatever the outcome. I also feel like I need to let you know of this disturbing veiled threat. Yes this is a 1996 Chevrolet Conversion Van, but we looked hard to find a high top van with low mileage, and since the paint was good and the van was clean and had a good carfax, we paid a premium price for it. We have been assured the graphics will be done yesterday, and then today, but? I am going to contact my own insurance company and let them know what is happening so that we can feel we have covered our own backs. We are truly fearful that if we make waves, it will be at the expense of a new transmission.

Desired outcome: My van should look like it did when I took it to the shop.

AAMCO Transmissions Transmission casing leak plus extra part?

I filed a complaint this morning regarding my situation regarding having a 2014 Ford Escort since March 29, 2023, at 400 W. NW Hwy, Arlington Heights, IL 60004 and contact No: [protected].

I got a call from Jamine with an update after so long that the cost increased from $2030ish to $6600ish. I told him to get the car ready to toll ASAP because I made it clear that I had no money since the beginning but gave the OK as it was a crack casing, the transmission was working perfectly with adding transmission fluid which makes me very suspicious with the turn around on repairs needed. There was no way that I would have given approval for such repairs if Jamine had been honest since the beginning, then the car would have been tolled home. I invested $10000.00 in a new engine so I am done, can't invest any more money as I am still paying of my credit card that is maxed out presently. I made it clear that I get only social security income and my son is unemployed.

Daniel Suarez, lost income for a whole month due to car being in shop.

cell: [protected] (Daniel) & Nellys Martinez, cell: [protected].

Desired outcome: Get car ready to tolled back home. no funds to pay $6600ish for repairs.

AAMCO Transmissions Transmission service / lied about price and never gave me an estimate of any kind until the day of completion

ALL interactions were by PHONE. On March 23, 2023 my husband called AAMCO/Apogee Auto Works asking if they had finance options and we were told from American Transmissions a total of $5,500 and Sam Salvatore said that price was wild and he could at least knock off $1,000 of that price, and then said he had four finance options. Sam said he could tow the car to AAMCO/Apogee Auto Works from American Transmissions at no extra charge on Friday, March 24, 2023. The afternoon of March, 24, 2023 my husband called AAMCO/Apogee Auto Works to ask if the car had been picked up and the receptionist said no, Sam was out the office but they would pick it up. 2-weeks later, we called multiple times asking for an estimate and none could be given, but we were told to expect just under $4,000. The next week was spent being told from Sam that they were waiting on parts. By April 18, 2023 we called and were told they ordered and installed the wrong part and that a time frame for the arrival of the correct part to be delivered was unknown. I called Sam on April 20,2023 and was told the correct part would be delivered by Monday and best case scenario car would be fixed by April 27, 2023. On April 27, 2023 my husband went into AAMCO/Apogee Auto Works for the FIRST time and was told the price of $5,348.29 by his surprise he asked why the price was so high and Sam said he never worked on a Honda CVT before and didn't know the parts would be so expensive, Which didn't match previous statements he made. Sam Salvatore not only lied repeatedly, but he tried to tell me I heard him wrong when I didn’t. I worked for attorneys for years and I listen VERY carefully and make sure to repeat what I hear back to the person. I’m laser focused on detail and Sam never provided a written estimate or provided the actual information on what he was fixing. When confronted, he said he never worked on a Honda CVT transmission but the first time he spoke to my husband he said he worked on a 2013 Honda CVT transmission 2-weeks prior.

Desired outcome: To have my car back for $2,500 OR to have it back in its original condition free of charge. No holding fees, no added fees. Just back to how it was and given back to me for free.

AAMCO Transmissions Transmission repair

Took a car to AAMCO for transmission repair on or around 13 September 2022. Received car back on or around 21 September 2022, in what seemed to be good working order. While in for an oil change service, at my local repair shop, I was notified by tech of a transmission fluid leak being present. Returned car for repair on March 7th 2023. Again, the front office guys were quick, efficient and pleasant. I received car back on Friday, March 10th 2023 and again, all appeared to be good. On April 18th, while at my local repair shop, again the tech notified me of an apparent transmission leak. I documented both occasions with time stamped photos. As I contemplate returning car for a third attempt at repair, I know this is a technician specific issue, nothing that to disparage AAMCO or its office staff. The thought of a third attempt by the same technician instills fears of worst results. At this time, I would consider a full refund, so I may pursue correct repairs elsewhere to the best resolution of this issue.

Desired outcome: Full refund of $4,783.08. in order to pursue correct repairs elsewhere. I would appreciate a response to this request. No apologies necessary, I realize these things happen.

AAMCO Transmissions Diagnostic and repairs - invoice [protected]/22/23 -

03/14/2023 @0800

Problem: Engine light on - "D" light blinking - VSA Warning light on.

Shop performed diagnostic. I was told that the Camshaft Position Sensor was dead and the Crankshaft Position Sensor was "Off".

Other services were recommended. I left the vehicle for repairs and was told that the repairs would take approximately 6.0 Hrs.

After several calls regarding repairs, each time I was told that the Technician was having some difficulty and needed more time to make sure that the repairs would be correctly completed.

03/20/23 @ 1400 - I picked up the vehicle, paid the invoice.

On the way home, within approximately 5 Minutes and 2 miles, the check engine light came on, the "D" light started blinking and the VSA Warning light came on.

I immediately called the shop and made arrangements to return on 03/22/23,

I returned to the shop at 10:00 AM and was told that the lead Tech was at the ER and would not be back that day and the manager would call me when he returned. I was told that they would recheck their work but if further diagnosis

revealed other problems then there would be additional cost. I explained to the manager that the problem that I had originally brought the vehicle in for had not been repaired and that I felt that any additional cost to myself would no be fair or acceptable and that I was not happy.

Desired outcome: Complete repairs as expected at no further cost to myself. I expect a quick and appropriate response. If the shop is not able to complete the repairs as expected, then a complete refund is expected.

AAMCO Transmissions Transmission service

I have a 2005 Acura MDX. My engine light came on and I brought it in to Express Oil Change as I also needed my tires rotated and asked them to find out why the engine light came on. They did a diagnostic check and reported code P0700-Automatice Transaxle. They suggested I take my car to a shop experienced in transmissions as Express Oil does not have transmission experience. They charged my $75 for the diagnostic test.

I then took the car to AAMCO (Panama City Beach, FL) on 2/17/2023 after making an appointment. They couldn't get to the car until the end of the day and eventually called me to say I need a new transmission at a cost of $7200. I told them I wasn't going to pay that much, but asked for a quote on a used or rebuilt transmission. The mechanic said they don't do rebuilds, but would get me a quote for a used one. The charge for the diagnostic test was $250 (more than 3 times what Express Oil charged for the same test) I have not heard from them and have followed up with voicemails as they don't answer their phone. Given the fact AAMCO hasn't called me back and did not initially provide an option for a used trans, I wouldn't go back there and would not recommend them. Also, I was under the impression that AAMCO was the transmission experts, but obviously not impressed when the mechanic wouldn't consider a rebuilt.

Desired outcome: At least a returned phone call.

AAMCO Transmissions 2008 ford focus serviced - install a transmission-cost: $2,200.00

February 24, 2023

Letter of Complaint

Attention Customer Service:

I am the owner of a 2008 Ford Focus, and during the early part of December, 2022, I had initially taken my car to the local Ford Dealership in Port Richey, Florida, who told me that I needed a transmission. I did not want to pay the amount they were asking for, so I had spoken with an AAMCO Representative named Howard, located at AAMCO-11612 Florida Ave, Tampa FL, 33612.

I explained to Howard exactly what the car was doing; stopping and slowing down while I am driving. There were times the car would stop, and wouldn’t allow me to go forward, although the engine was still running. After 10 and/or 15 minutes, the car would finally go forward. AAMCO assessed the car and like, Ford, determined that I needed a new transmission.

I had taken my car to AAMCO the latter part of December to allow them to work on my transmission. Since I worked in Jacksonville, Florida, Monday - Friday, I could only communicate with Howard via telephone. I also sincerely appreciate AAMCO allowing me to keep my car there for weeks, until I was able to pick up my car on Friday, February 3, 2023.

On February 3, 2023, I drove the car home 35 miles to Hudson, Florida. On Saturday morning, February 4, 2023, I had to attend a meeting in Tampa, Florida. While I was driving, the car continued to slow down, and stopped at least two times. I had to restart it, and drive with my emergency flashers on.

I then decided to try and drive to AAMCO before they closed at noon, since I was three miles away. The car stopped, and would not go forward. The engine was still running. I had to wait until 15 minutes before the car would go forward. Once I was able to drive the car, I pulled onto a dead end road, and called AAA. AAA tolled my car to AAMCO, and I parked it by the fence.

I then called, and left a voice message on Howard or AAMCO voice mail.

When I was able to verbally speak with Howard (left message several times) via cell phone, I explained to him what had happened, and he told me the problem was the key cylinder, steering column and/or the ignition switch. I continues to ask him how that effects my transmission causing the car to display the same behavior that I had originally brought it in for.

I would appreciate if an AAMCO Technician can reach out to me and explain (1) how the key cylinder was causing my car to slow down and stop, and not move forward at all while the engine is still on. And then I have to wait 10 or more minutes, before the car is ready to drive forward. (2) Why is the car displaying the same symptoms that I brought it in for and paid $2,200.00, and now AAMCO is asking me for another $745.00.

My car is currently at the shop.

Please review the following conversation: Yellow-AAMCO. Green - Oliver

“ HI OLIVER-ITS AAMCO-YOU CAN PICK UP THE CAR, WHEN YOU ARE READY. WE CLOSE AT 5:00 PM. OPEN TILL NOON ON SAT.

February 6, [protected]-Oliver)

Good morning Howard. I was driving the car to church in Tampa Saturday morning and it started stopping on me periodically. I was actually 3.5 miles from you guys when the car stopped. So I had it towed. I will drop the keys off around 10:30 am.

Wasn't for sure if the big red crate is where I was supposed to drop the keys.

February 8, [protected]- Howard)

HI OLIVER -ITS AAMCO- WE NEED 2 HOURS OF DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE- WE HAVE TO TAKE APART THE STERRING COLUMN FOR THE KEY, TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED, THAT ALSO GOES TOWARD THE REPAIRS, $ 330.00- LET US KNOW TY!

February 8, 2023 (Oliver)

Howard can you call me. I thought all this would be part of your warranty, or what you originally diagnosed initially. I picked the car up from you Friday, and had to have it towed to you on Saturday. It was doing the same thing prior to me having you all repair it. Am I now going to be charge for you guys to trouble shoot again? Please let me know- Please call me. Thanks

February 8, 2023 (Howard)

OK, GIVE ME A MINUTE, LET ME TALK TO ROSS.

HI OLIVER - AAMCO - I SPOKE TO ROSS, HE IS GOING TO HAVE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE FOR YOU, BUTS IT’S IN THE KEY CYLINDER, NOT THE TRANSMSSION, And ASAP I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT WE FIND.TY!

February 8, [protected]-Oliver)

Ok, Thank you

February 15, [protected] – Oliver)

Good morning Howard,

Checking on my 2008 Ford Focus? It had stopped on me one day after I picked it up. Please let me know the status. Thank you. Oliver

February 17, [protected]-Oliver)

Good morning Howard, I am still waiting to hear from you concerning the status of my Ford Focus 2008. Per our conversation, please let me know how the steering column, etc., affects the transmission. I brought the car into AAMCO because Ford Dealership and AAMCO told me that I needed a transmission. When I picked the car up from you on a Friday, the next day- Saturday, the car performance was doing the exact same thing. So I really appreciate you explaining the above because I'm ignorant concerning cars, but I am aware I can research. Thanks again.

February 20, [protected]-Oliver)

Howard, I haven’t heard back from you. Please let me know if you guys have trouble shoot or detected what going on with the transmission. Do you guys drive the vehicles after you repair them? Thanks. Oliver. Will call Tuesday morning.

February 22, [protected]-Howard)

Hi Oliver-- aamco update- we need to replace the lock cylinder housing assembly, parts & labor, $745.00 plus tax!

February 22, 2023 – (Oliver)

I will let you know. But how does that affect the transmission? The car was doing the identical thing prior to me bringing it to you? Thanks

Howard, when the transmission was broken down, why wasn't I informed of this if this needed to be done? The car would not go forward

February 22, 2023 (Howard)

IF YOU WANT YOU CAN USE A SCREW DRIVER TO START THE CAR, IT’S UP TO YOU!

February 22, 2023 (Oliver)

I'm not shouting but I have every right to ask questions. The car was still running but the car was not moving.

February22, 2023 (Howard)

THE CAR MOVES SIR.

February 22, 2023 (Oliver)

Yea it does. But it had stopped on me, that Saturday and when I was able to drive it, I wouldn't and called AAA. The car was still running but would not go forward.

AAMCO Transmissions Transmission and customer service issues

We have had a terrible experience with the Lakewood, WA location. We are currently suing for breach of contract and loss of use as a direct result of the poor service and long wait times for communication and work to be done. This location also reported the incorrect odometer reading to Carfax causing our vehicle to be red flagged for potential odometer rollback as well as causing devaluation.

The first time we brought our truck to this location was 10/08/21.

They installed a transmission for us after the assessment that ours could not be rebuilt. We picked it up a couple of weeks later and by 11/04/21 the newly installed transmission failed and it needed to be towed back to Aamco.

Again, we waited some time and drove away with what we thought was a truck made whole again.

On 12/22/22, the 2nd transmission failed. This time we had it towed to the Vancouver WA location due to proximity and the frustration with the service in Lakewood. During the next (2) weeks, it took several calls and in person visits to get them to give the authorization and order for yet another transmission as the Vancouver location was not able to warranty work done elsewhere.

The vechicle was not completed until 01/26/23.

During this whole process, we have continuously been given the run around and been given information which we found to be incorrect. The customer service was incredibly unprofessional and rude at the desk in the Lakewood location. The authorization and ordering of the 3rd transmission should not have taken anywhere near 2 weeks. We were very grateful that someone along the way put a rush on our order and it did not take the full 3 weeks as it usually does one built and shipped.

The poor service has taken place on several occasions and we want others to be well aware of what they are getting into when this Lakewood, WA location.

Desired outcome: We would like:1. A response to our poor treatment by the staff at the location in question2. Compensation for the devaluation and loss of use3. An apology for us having to do their work on follow up between locations

I brought my vehicle in my tow truck I have pictures of when it was dropped off it was not damaged when I picked it up the axles dislodged sideways the damage was done from a lift and correctly placed when I lifted the vehicle off the ground and it bent the suspension and just watch the axle sideways and ruined my vehicle they will not on up to it or fix it and they blame me for wrecking the vehicle before it got there even though I have proof that there was no damage done to the suspension until they touched it.

Desired outcome: Want them to pay for the parts they damaged and the labor to put it on they wouldn't even consider it.

AAMCO Transmissions Radiator replacement

In June of 2021, I was working in FL and I had my car towed to an Aamco in Orange Park, Florida to get the radiator replaced. The address to that branch is 356 Blanding Blvd Orange Park, FL 32073. I spoke to someone named Sean or Lee (can't remeber which) and I signed for them to work on my car on June 16th at 10:30am and they had it fixed by June 21st. It is worth noting that I am from MS and I travel all over the US for work. When I took my car in, the only thing I needed replaced was the radiator, but the front desk guy told me I had to also have a new compressor and I asked them to go ahead and change the oil as well. They finally called and said my car was ready. At the time, I had been in Virginia working so I drove 8 hours in a rental to get my car. Not even ten minutes into driving, I realized the air conditioner did not work. I was supposed to be back in VA before the next day, so I told the guy I could not bring the car back because he said I would have to leave it, and I could not do that because I need my car to work. So he said I had a warranty and should be able to go to any Aamco to get it fixed. However, the local Aamco's were short on staff and said they were only changing transmissons. So I gave up and just drove the entire summer with no air because between my job and financial issues, there was no way I could fit that in. Plus at the time, that was the only issue I found with my car. Fast forward to now, January 18th, it was way past time for an oil change, so a friend of mine let his Uncle change my oil. However, it took them 2 hours to get my hood open because the people at Aamco apparently disconnected the thing that pops my hood. And the bumper was not all the way on. It was hanging off. I went in with one problem and now have three because those mechanics fixed my radiator in a sloppy way. Now, I pray my hood doesn't pop up and fly off because it is not hooking to anything because they somehow disconnected it. and the front bumper is just hanging off. And it will be summer again soon and my air conditioner still doesnt work. I refuse to pay to get it fixed because neither of these things were a problem before I took my car to Aamco. If I pay thousands of dollars to get something fixed, I expect it to be fixed not half fixed with more problems added. I am very upset and expect a reasonable resolved.

Desired outcome: I would like an apology, and also either a check to get these issues fixed or a refund.
