Cheap security film
3M run around
They may have the brand but boy their safety window suck big time. I am a window tinter in California and a client insisted on 3M safety film on their shop. I told them that they needed real security laminate not safety film but they wanted 3M.
I called 3M and spoke to the rep. He told me that 3M is the best and that all other safety films are copy-cat film. I have been installing tint for a long time and the 3M film was nothing special to install.
Here is the problem, the shop that was protected with the 3M safety Ultra 600 was attacked by robbers 2 years later and the CCTV video shows that the film did nothing, absolutely nothing to prevent the robbers from going through the glass. The film ripped and tore and did not hold the window in place.
Looking at the video, its not like the three robbers hit the windows very hard or even worked at the trying to break in, all they did was tap on the glass twice and the big window came crashing down. What a joke. Lumar magnum is far stronger, but this was no better than tissue paper.
Now I am being sued by the shop owners and 3M responded back to me that they do not claim that no one can break through. I have also found out the 3M has no independent testing for burglar proofing.
I asked 3M to assist with documentation about product quality or something and I have nothing back from them. What a scam.
I now found out that 3M outsources their safety films to the lowest bidder. Great so I bought 2 rolls, paid a premium and only now I found out that I can get it from China for $300 instead of $1, 388.13
3M is not playing fair and not to be trusted. Do not buy 3M safety window films, they don’t work. Maybe 3M should stick to posted notes. Oh, wait a min. 3M doesn’t make those either!
Yep, 3M is making Billions of dollars and all the jobs go to China, no wonder America can pay its bills. From now on, I will only buy from a US company that makes their product here using American workers. Shame on 3M!
