The Smith Investigation Agency was great! They gave us amazing customer service and the results were just what we wanted.

This agency is a joke. They sent me a "report" that I paid them $666 for over a month ago. The worst part is that they made me believe they had access to bank accounts, which is why I hired them to find someone who owes me settlement money. They were so careless that they couldn't even repeat the facts I gave them correctly. It looks like a search done by a grade schooler. I am extremely angry and want a full refund. I can never get anyone on the phone.

I live in a condo townhouse and can't sleep at night because of a noisy machinery business. I contacted The Smith Investigation Agency for surveillance to follow the subjects and see where inventory is being delivered, as requested by the City. In November, they emailed me the cost ($100 per hour, $200 admin fee includes report, $100 for 10 minutes, and .80 per km). On December 3rd, I hired them to do surveillance from December 7-9 for six hours daily (18 hours total). The owner told me it would cost $2,500 and recommended paying by credit card or e-transfer. I paid by credit card, and nothing was discussed about additional fees via email or verbally. The owner even said she would work with me to suit my budget as a senior. On December 9th, I received an email stating that there was no business, just the parties running errands. I replied that I didn't hire them to determine if there was a business since that was already established. They were hired to follow the subjects. I also disclosed that I captured them on my home surveillance video, and there was a lot of activity. The follow-up email agreed that there was a lot of activity but only errands. I was then told that the video didn't have 10 minutes of evidence. On December 17th, I got an email stating that I owed $243.31, which they tried to get from my credit card but didn't process. The problem is that I won't receive the video/report that I paid for originally, and it will go to collection. They didn't do anything I hired them to do. As a senior, I feel taken advantage of, and I need the evidence I paid for or my money back.

I paid them $1,695.00 for an investigation search report, but it didn't turn out the way I wanted it to. I asked for historical records of any properties jointly owned by my late husband *** and *** (his business partner/lover), but they only searched for properties under ***'s name. I even sent them an email on August 18, to include the historical records in their search, but they didn't respond until their final report came on August 25. They didn't do what they said they would do on their website, which is to search for hidden assets. They only searched for properties under ***'s name. They didn't consider the details set out in the general assignment form of the case, and they didn't discuss any questions or issues with me over the phone. They said that my payment was for one name only, but they didn't tell me that the joint ownership search was not possible until they gave their report. I reached out to them a few times regarding my disappointment, but they didn't respond. I asked for a copy of the general assignment form, but they didn't give it to me. I want them to redo the asset search with both names of *** and *** and submit a report as per the requirements I set out in the general assignment form. I also want half of my money back because they misled me to believe that they could do a historic search by not responding specifically to my request set out in the general assignment form and in my email on August 18.
