XSport Fitness - Customer experience

16/06/2022 at 5:00-5:30pm

State Street Location

I has a bad experience when trying to come in for a week trial session with one of your agents. He made the process extremely lengthy by going on unrelated tangents and talking at length about his girlfirends shoe business that he insisted we should buy despite the fact that I have a 250 dollar pair of nikes that are specifically designed for running that have stood me in good stead. He obviously knew nothing about different shoe options and qualities for my interests, as he provided no other options and gave no reason why his girlfriends shoes were better suited. I think it was extremely unethical as a personal trainer who is supposed to provide information and recommendations based on researched merit and catered toward the client rather than trying to drum up business for their girl. We wanted to get through the sign up process quickly because we have busy work schedules and were really just intrested in trying the facilities as we both live near by and calling it a day. I don't mind giving payment, and personal information to sign on but the sales rep also insisted that I weigh myself in front of everyone and figure out and display all of my body statistics in front of my friend and himself. When I politely refused he kept insisting why and when I explained that it wasn't something I cared to know myself for personal reasons insisted why further. I don't think I should have to disclose my mental history to someone in order to get them to stop rudely demanding I share my personal information, nor do I think it should be your policy to force all people doing a trial to compromise their mental health journey in order to sign with you. We live in a day and age where eating disorders are rife and while I have since recovered there are certain trigger points that have been known to cause relapses for me and illicit panic attacks and ptsd from my years of being detained in inpatient facilities for Anorexia. I obviously didnt want to disclose this and I was trembling and nigh on crying with his beligerance and insistance as I felt I almost had no option than to elaborate as to why I didn't want to weigh myself or know my weight or risk relapse and mental break down by weighing myself for the frist time in 5 years. All in all it was an incredibly traumatic experience for me and the man insisted this was your policy, that everyone, no matter there mental health journey must publically disclose, know and share their body statistics with random employees to the detriment of their mental health journey. I would hope this wasn't really the case and he was simply a rude pushy salesman who refused to take no for an answer. He also kept asking us how old we thought he was and got extremely offended when we said 27 even though he looked 35 but he was apparently 23. So I guess he can resonate with the concept of insecurity. Your staff need empathy training, you lost our business because of stringent, anti-mental health policies I just hope no one else is subjected to this by policy change or your sales reps learn to value the word 'no' from a tearful person instead of beligerantly bullying and demanding detailed explanation.

Desired outcome: I would like you to discipline the staff working that day and change your policy
