Why Not Lease Itthey rip off people

L Review updated:

It's just a reap off, customer service has very bad attitude, you end up paying more than triple the value of the item you lease. I did it once and when i tried to buy out the furniture it was as if i was just going to the store and i had to pay almost full price (I had already made all my payments) i end it up paying $1000 for a $500 piece of furniture. Never again!!! Beware of why not lease it!!!

Million Dollar Mower Aug 09, 2019

I am so angry with this company and Sears!!! The lady at Sears told me I would have the lawnmower paid off in 12 months at $305.00 a month. The "contract" for me to sign and read was on one of those signing tiny tablets at the register. She assured me it would be emailed to me and explained again that I would OWN the product around 12 months. I was like great! well that was far from the truth!! 1. they started charging me $305 twice a month, WHO PAYS THAT MUCH FOR A CRAFTSMAN? I could go get a damn John Deer or Kubota for that price. Then they informed me I had 90 days to pay off $2810.00 or keep paying the $610.00 a month until October then return the mower??? SAY WHAT?? you mean AFTER I PAY OFF THE MOWER I GIVE IT BACK TO YOU!??? This is a horrible program!! misleading!! and a SHAM! Horrible, I feel so stupid for trusting what the girl was saying and not asking for a print out. DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM!!

Stay away unless you are absolutely desperate. You will pay 3 times the amount of the purchase price. This program does not help your credit. The only time this program does anything to your credit is if you don't pay they will report it. If you pay you are in good standing with them. They do not report your payments to the credit companies. I wish I had just sucked it up and payed cash for the stove I bought but they guy at Sears made it sound like this was the easy way to go. He just wanted a sale out of me. I should have read the contract better but every where I looked it seemed to me like I was only going to make 3 payments after my first down payment. I didn't realize you had to call them before the final payment and pay a settlement fee. This is crazy.

Very poor customer service and cant even complete transaction on line.
was told about 7 times in 4 days it is fixed now you can make your purchase.
Still never went through keep getting same error.
So they told me just go to the store it will work there.
Problem is even if it works there is no contract to read befor entering into an agreement.
Why would anyone enter into something with out being able to read the contract.
Now that is a joke. lol.

Why Not Lease It is abusing it's ability to have access to your bank account information!!! BE WARNED. At first they will start taking the payments as scheduled but within a short period of time, they start taking multiple payments and sometimes 2-3 times a week. They will tell you that you are behind in your payments and they are catching up!! I had only made the first payment and the next month they took 34 payments out of my account, totally
depleting the funds in my bank account. They WILL NOT put the money back and will continue until you close the account. There is no other way
to stop the madness! My own bank would not cooperate and stop them from taking the money, they gave it to them and told me to work it out
with Why Not Lease It. After attempting to even call the corporate office and numerous attempts to resolve the matter, I gave up! I will not
give them one more dime until someone wants to reach out to me from the corporate office and tell me they aren't scamming money from people's
accounts. Those of you who said you had a good experience have to be an insider writing the comments!!!

@Moored4 May I ask, I know they have your Bank Card but that's a Card report it stolen and get a new Card with new number, unless they know you banking checking account number. I myself told my bank in my checking account that I don't want them to take a charge in if my account don't have the funds, that's a protection line of credit

My husband leased an item but never paid for it... Still in the box and never used. Can I bring the item back. I, his wife went to court for it and now they are doing wage garnishment on me. But get this, he's going to be getting a huge amount of money from SSI and Workmans Comp and they the lawyers can't or won't garnish that to get it paid off. Now Can I just return the item ? Never used it and still in the box, Brand new...?

Leased a couch at Sears and was TOLD after my 5 payments was up the couch would be ours, we're getting a good deal, i'm approved for even more credit ETC. I mean really oversold the product. I paid my 5 payments and when month 6 came, i noticed another payment out of my account. I called Why Not Lease It and waited an hour for them to pick up and they told me i can continue leasing the couch $200 a month, purchase it for an ADDITIONAL $600 paid off within 6 weeks, or return the couch. I'VE NEVER BEEN SCAMMED THIS BAD IN MY LIFE. Sears never mentioned additional payments after the lease agreement and this company knows for sure they are a scam. The representative was rude and you can tell they deal with complaints all day. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH WHY NOT LEASE IT.

This company is also Contempo...whatever that is. I bought a piece of equipment after being railroaded into this lease at the register. I returned the first piece of equipment and was told since it was on my debit card the original purchase credit would go "right back into my account", which was a lie. That was April 8, 2017. It is June 15, 2017 and I still do not have the refund, they have repeatedly lied to me about "issuing a refund check". When I returned the initial piece of equipment (should have left it at that!) I replaced it with another one...big mistake. I paid another sizable "down payment" for the second piece of equipment. After 45 days of not receiving my refund for the initial piece of equipment they didn't reduce my account by the amount owed to me and they helped themselves to my bank account and charged me an additional $20.00 on the day my payment was due. As of today, still have not received my refund for the initial piece of equipment and they are claiming I owe them more than what my lease agreement states and are compounding interest daily. If I had it to do over..I would have looked on line for reviews about them and would have never purchased anything with them ASSociated with it. Their customer service is horrible. Turning my complaint, recorded phone calls, receipts and bank records over to the authorities, if they have scammed you I urge you to do the same.

My credit is pretty good, and I used why not lease it for some outdoor furniture that was on sale. Had I known what I was about to experience, I would have not used the program. My monthly payments for the 5 month period was $99.36. After completing the 5 month period I had paid $496.80. The month before the last payment (month 4) I called for the buy out price they told me it was $336. After the last payment was made, they deducted $99.36 from my account. Under the circumstances that this payment was going toward the buyout. After talking with the customer service representative, they told me that the payment would continue until the buyout contract was satisfied or for the duration period of 18 months. That payment was not deducted from the 336.00 and that I still owed the $336.00. After trying to explain to the service rep that the payment should be applied to buyout that was left, they continued to insist that the payment would not be applied to $336.00. As soon as I said that this was a rip-off and that I would be calling the Better Business Bureau she immediately said "I would need to talk to her supervisor." After explaining what my concern was and why the $99.36 would not be deducted from the buyout amount of $336.00, he told me that it would be deducted; leaving me $236.64. It took all of 15 minutes to get it resolved after speaking with the supervisor. However, one thing for sure I will not ever again use this service. The item was on sale for $499 and I have paid $829.77, a total of $330.77. A lesson learned!

I used this company on two different purchases and each lease well after the buy out is settled debits my account. This is not an error. 4 times they did the same thing I believe they attempt to steal from you in hope that it is not noticed. They are thieves and i intend on escalating my complaint. I feel there are many people that did not catch their game and are owed money. Always make sure the payment is owed and Dont ever give them a bank accountnumber and be sure to deactivate your debit card after the buy out.as if they don't rip you off enough with the interest!! Really frustrating.

I'm wondering if any of the customer service representatives go to church at all.The way they treat people is very rude. How do the expect to want to charge what they want to and be rude and expect to get it. They also use foul language and expect that's going to get them somewhere. Its not customer satisfaction and very unprofessional.

We paid the item off within 90 Days. The only problem we had is they took one more payment by mistake. I see the many problems others have had, but we used the service due to poor credit. The customer service was good.

Agreed they were very VERY rude. i called in to see when the settlement was due and they told me Friday I said ok I'll call on Friday to pay as agreed I did and they took another payment out on that Friday and when I called in I was upset because I agreed to pay on the due date and because it automatically comes out in the morning and I called in at noon they could adjust the last payment to the settlement even with the agreement on that past Monday which was noted. So I ended up paying WAY WAY more than the merchandise was worth even with the interest. And upset me so much I refuse to even go into a Kmart lately. I held my end of the contract. But they can't. And much more thought the months. Always paid on time always kept my end. This was a big mistake.

Whynotleaseit is a horrible scam, a predatory lender. Don't use. It's not a lease to own, and some items you cannot return so you lease an item for 18 mos after which you must buy the furniture/item at an inflated price or continue for the rest of your days to lease. After the first 5 months you can do a buyout but again it's an inflated price. Don't get caught up with this company. You end up paying $2, 700 for an item only worth $700! They debited my account 6 times in one day!!! DO NOT USE. I encourage people to post on social media as well.

This is outrageous I was misled by an Sears employee that after making my payments this item would be paid off. I made a big down payment and was told my balance and have made all the payments and still got to buy out my lease. I will file a complaint with Attorney General and the BBB it may not save me any dollars but maybe it can save someone else from making the same mistake

I have a problem with them also they say they record there phone calls and tell me one thing and when they talk to me again I tell them what we discussed on the last call and they say it's not recorded in there records .I told them well you need to check the recorded conversation and they say they will do that and get back with me. I get another call the day they say they would call me back after checking the recorded conversations and they don't say anything about checking a recorded conversation it's not in the records that anyone is supposed to check .The place is crooked and a legal scam and it's pretty crazy. I figured since Kmart and Sears are pretty good companies they wouldn't work with a bunch of con artists. I wouldn't believe they charged you 1000 for 500 dollars until I actually am doing basically the same thing and they lie and are rude as ever. I know if they treated me like that in person they wouldn't be standing on there feet !

Why not lease it program is a rip off. I would advise anyone to never lease anything through k-mart. I have never had to pay for something so long that is not even worth it. You can't even get it fixed when something physical happens to it. If I had known this would have been such a problem, I would have bought my products from Wal-Mart. Next time I will. No wonder Wal-Mart gets all of the business. I am just so disappointed in this lease it program. You think you are getting a deal but you are not. I am a single parent trying to do the best I can by my children. I cant afford any extra expenses. This program needs to be looked into and taken down because it is more trouble than its worth. So sorry I got into this program. The money I have wasted in these electronics was not worth it especially when they keep freezing up. I hope the justice system looks into this program and justice is done. The money needs to be returned to hardworking people. I think GOD will work a miracle in this situation. I will never shop at K-Mart again and I will advise anyone I know to never lease or buy anything from this company again. STAY ALERT!!! PLEASE DON'T BE TAKEN IN BY K-MART or the LEASE IT PROGRAM!!!

I completely knew what I was getting myself into when I did my lease. At the end of the five months, I set up my buyout payment. The payment came out as expected and I was happy. Until they charged me for my monthly lease payment again, after the buyout was completed. I called and spoke to the rude agent that said basically it is my problem and it will take the 7-10 days to decide if they will refund me my money. I of course become irate because now I will have many things returned NSF because of their error and also have many NSF fees. When I explained this to the customer services rep. I was told that is between me and my bank and not their problem!

In 2014 I started my first lease with this company and have since started and completed 8 leases. I have made all of my automatic payments on time and have bought out all of my leases. Now I just want to be clear that my complaint isn't that I paid more than the original cost for the items as I had an understanding of how that worked when I started the program but it was the solution I had at the time and I didn't mind paying all that extra for the convenience. I recently paid off yet another lease with the company and was told go ahead and apply for another one and we'll get you set up. So I go through the steps and apply for another lease and I get denied. When I called to ask why that happened I was told "I don't know I don't have that information" by the customer service representative. Well of course that made me scratch my head and say well if you don't know then who does? And I was then informed that no one knows the answer to that question because all of the decisions about lease approvals are now done by a computer system. A series of 1's and 0's decides now whether or not you get approved for a new lease. I've completed 8 leases never had a late payment and bought out every single one and I get denied!?

Secondly when you call customer service everyone has a bad attitude, which should give us all a good indication of how the company is as an employer. If the employees hate being there so much that they treat the customers that poorly the problems must run throughout the company. I was told today by a customer service representative that I could try again in 30 days for a new lease and I asked her what would be different between now and a month from now as I don't currently owe them any money and am employed and those things will be the same in 30 days. The most frustrating part is that no one has any answers and they hide behind this scripted message that they're sorry that they can't do anything because it's all done by computer and that they have no ability to override it. It is disappointing to know that a company that you believed in and invested so much money into has no regard for their customers what so ever. I hope Why Not Lease It reconsiders their business practices and I hope that they try harder going forward to provide high level customer service to their customers or I fear they will lose more customers than just my husband and I.

I leased a $540 TV through K-mart...once 6 months was up I had a buyout option of $200 even or keep leasing for 6 more months...I thought it very fair! I never could have made the retail purchase on my own so far from tax time. Might I add they let me put my HDMI cable, surge protector, and extended warrenty all on the same bill with no down payment.

listen.. inform yourself before you just go sign something and make Payments... They outline it for you.. It says if you continue to make payments on the schedule you are going to pay just like you would if you went to rent a center or aarons... If you dont want to pay more.. You pay it off in 90 days and you only pay a small fee. Don't blame the company because you did not read and or ask questions about how the program works.. I am happy they have the program i just bought a patio set a fire pit and a smoker.. ill pay 48.21 every two weeks when my 90 days is over.. i will pay it off.. not continue to make payments because if i do im going to pay 800.29 for a 578.52 purchase..

SO I WILL JUST TELL YOU GUYS MY EXPERIENCE AND YOU BE THE JUDGE... SMH!!! I had been pay over $200 a month for furniture that cost $100 for over a year. I went in my account one month after I realized money was short only to find that Tempoe had debited my payment plus 3 transactions totaling $300. When I called a rep told me to fax in my bank statemement and they could reimburse me and so I did. When I called back, no one knew where my bank statement was and so I faxed again and then called and spoke to a supervisor. He was rude and hung up on me ending with " I'll see what I can do, goodbye". He then called me back and I said " why should I have to prove you've debited this info when clearly you said you did by accident" Long story short I had to get crazy in order for them to give me my money back! Then they call to tell me they confused my account with some else? After this happened, I then began looking at my lease and payment history and noticed that I had already paid almost 2500 for $1000 furniture and when I called a rep tells me "oh you've only been paying towards the principal of the lease, if you wanted to buy it out, you would have had to call in and do the buy out program which according to your balance is $649 more, but we can break it into 3 payments for and then you'll own the furniture". Now I have never heard this in my life!!! So today 7/5/2016, my last payment of the $649 was 6/30/16. So I call them to ask for proof that my acct is closed, paid in full and that I am no3w the owner. They tell me, "we can't send you anything, the acct has to be closed for 30 days. After 30 days, call us back and we can send something." So I said, "you're not going to send anything, and the rep's repression was, nope." So I pay $3000 for a 1000 set and you wont even send me proof that I own it?!?!?!?!? NEVER AGAIN!

I had to call them twice in one day with questions. The first call connected me with a VERY RUDE AND NASTY AND ### CUSTOMER SVC AGENT #12366. She was absolutely the worst! I wouldn't hire her to pick up dog poop! She acted like she owned the company, she kept interrupting me and was always saying "I've been trying to tell you, , it's what I already said, I said it before." Very very condescending. Very nasty...and kept changing her answer. It took me a few minutes to get her to actually HEAR me! I wouldn't wish that WITCH on anyone. She has no interest in resolving anything and only wants to be right. She was so busy lecturing me on what I had done wrong with my payments that it took about 10 mins for her to actually hear my question. She was VERY VERY hostile, from the get-go. Nasty. I told her before I hung up that she should be nicer to customers.

My second phone call yielded a completely OPPOSITE experience. The man I talked to (forgot to note his ID#) was professional, clear and very easy to speak with. He was able to give info without acting all resentful.

Personally, I won't use this company again. The clear at SEARS had a hard time getting this set up, he told me payment dates and sequences that didn't come to be.

Whatever you want to buy...wait! Pay for it or use another method. This company is just not good nor do they seem to care about it.

Thia company (why not lease it) called my ex roomate last week and preceeded to tell him off because I was late on my payments. Payments which I would have been paying had they been honest about the pay schedule, how much I was to pay, and buyout option. This company is the worst ran company I have ever saw. I quit shopping at Sears and Kmart due to the treatment I received through wnli. People if you are thinking about using the service please rethink it. I'd much rather have went without than to have them take money out of my account when ever they choose to, or have anyone who answers my phone told off and let in on my personal business. I recently used this service, and will never again. I don't really have a complaint so much about price I paid. It's a typical rent to own contract. People should know that going in. My complaint is that we purchased a mattress with it. After our 5th payment we got a payoff am out of 386.00. We scheduled a payment for that amount. When they debited my account it was over 100 more than what was supposed to be owed. Then to make things worse, less than a week later, after the lease was paid off, they debited my my account the original payment of 117. In all they overcharged my account 220 dollars. When speaking with customer service, we were told we had to wait 7 to 10 days for that money to be returned to us. This company is a joke. Do not use it.

I purchased a couch at a Sears Outlet Store for a good price I thought. I didn't have the full amount so they offered me the Why Not Lease it program. I put a down payment on it of 147.82 and delivery was schedule in a few days. The couch was too big to fit through my door so the delivery returned to warehouse. I called Why not lease it and let them know that I needed them to issue a refund 3/29/16 . I still haven't received it after many attempts of contacting them . Each time I talked to a customer Rep they said they had mailed it to me and then they have a different address each time. I finally contacted my bank and they will now pursue the refund. I contacted Sears Corporate to issue a complaint and to help resolve this and they told me that they couldn't that it wasn't part of Sears even though on the receipt Sears is listed and when I called Why not Lease it they said thank you for choosing Sears. Do not trust Sears now and this company, No wonder there are not many Sears stores left if they affiliate themselves with companies like Why not Lease it. Scammers and Crooks.

This is the biggest Rip off ever, and I do know it was going to cost me more in the long run to go through this program so I decided to take the buy out so that it would not cost me any more I had two accounts with WHY NOT LEASE IT. One I bought out in Aug 2015 and the other in Dec 2015 Every thing was paid in full. And then on April 19th 2016 several months after they went into my checking account and took a payment out when I called them about it they said they saw where the mistake was and that I would receive a full refund in 7 to 10 business days so to day may 13th 2016 I called them again and they tell me that the refund was denied. that is theft, so be careful they have your bank account and can do the same to you

Be very weary of this WHY NOT LEASE IT.

I am not a fan of WNLI. I purchased a fridge with every intention of paying it off. Unfortunately circumstances arose that required medical surgery and left me unemployed. I contacted them (not having missed a payment yet) and advised that I would need to return the fridge doe to the situation. The representative was extremely rude and refused to do anything to work with me advising I needed to pay 300 and something dollars on my account before I could return it. I requested that they bill me for that but still allow me to return it immediately. He was again adamant that he would not allow it to be returned. I did not have the 300 as I just made a payment to them and had other bills that I paid as well. I asked to speak with a supervisor who never actually came to the phone. You could hear the line picked up and then disconnected. They did not bother to call me back and I made three separate attempts to do this all with the same outcome. So this fridge, is now sitting in storage unused and they have not gotten any money as I closed my account. I guess going forward they will learn to work with people. I see no reason they could not pick up the fridge and continue to bill my account weekly for the balance of 300. The fact that they had no desire to work with me in a situation well out of my control, I had no idea 4 months earlier that open heart surgery was going to be required, speaks volumes to the level of service that they provide. In comparison I had one other company that I leased furniture in a similar manner and they were more than compassionate and went above and beyond to understand. That company I will use again. This one - they can show up at my door and get the fridge i dont use it - I will never pay them another dime

Do NOT use this service. The interest rate is so High. I used $450.00 after my fifth month of payments the buy out is still $350.00. If I was to go the whole 18 months I would end paying triple $1472.00. I may have misunderstood but this is unbelievable. Some may say it is the same as rent to own, but it is not. I will NEVER use this again!! I would have also used Layaway!!
